The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"I'll bet," she replied smugly, tilted smile on her face.
Somehow, she got the impression he was interested in more than her brains here and now. This was, she reasoned, potentially a way to pick up chicks. Ask them tough questions, almost insult them, then brag about yourself. And she also got the impression (from overwhelming evidence, no doubt) that he thought she was pretty. Oh boy. Maya would eat him alive.
No reason to crush his dreams now, though. One didn't find a good study buddy every day. Plus, he was so cute when he was trying. She didn't want to scare him away.
Larry, a genuine blank... Was he a...
Braggart. Those were people who people that told crazy stories.
She didn't know what a dilettante was. A pilferer stole things. A prevaricator... prevaricated. Didn't sound nice. And a raconteur... was not a raccoon.
It definitely wasn't a dilettante or a pilferer, nor was it a prevaricator. A braggart would have been bragging, and people might not have found it amusing... therefore... it was probably a raconteur. She recalled a certain music video by a band of that name. Seemed a good name for a band that sang stories. That cemented it.
Jameson. Oh. Oops. She'd missed that. She made an effort now to commit it to memory. And pretty name, huh? She made a note of that, too. With a quirked brow.
So he didn't hate science, just wanted the test to be well-rounded... well, that made sense. She opened her mouth to agree that 'yes, that made sense' but shut it. Again. Because they both were doing a lot of talking.
AP Bio. She approved.
Question 2?
And she was stalling? Heh. Sure. Okay.
"Gratz on the AP bio," she shrugged. "I'm ready whenever you are."
"It's D, obviously. The one about conflict being inevitable." She'd had a chance to think on it, and judging from the words it was definitely D, conflict inevitable. Final answer. And wait, had he been distracting her with other questions?
She tilted her head at him, finally taking in the actual most recent one. And what he'd said about science.
"Amelia..." She replied, completely out-of-order in answering things. "And science is awesome. You have no idea. " People not passing due to science? That was silly. Ridiculous, even. It was SCIENCE! And SCIENCE was awesome, so yeah...
"What's your name, Mr. 'I hate science with a passion'?" She eyed him suspiciously.
Ah, SAT questions. Always good enough to make a young girl smile. Er. Look horrified. Yeah. That was more like it. Or at least blank for a second. Frown, maybe? She did one of those things. Maybe two. Certainly not all three.
"Damn," she mourned, pressing a her hand against her forehead as she leaned back against the tree. "Why couldn't it all be science?"
So they both went to Beacon? It was a small world.
She bit her lip. "Pretty much finished," she replied. "Just have to do a few finishing touches." She wanted it to be perfect. It was practically perfect already, but practically wasn't always good enough. "My first one went belly-up."
She listened to his battle story and nodded. "Yeah. Same, pretty much." And she followed his gaze towards the massive book. "And agreed, there too. I've been studying, at least... I'm kind of being a perfectionist." She frowned.
"Yup," she tried to rest the book on her lap, failed, and rested it closed on the grass. She looked at the cover for all of a second, then looked up at him to answer his question. "I go to Beacon." And evil, yeah. Probably described them very well.
"I may or may not have been procrastinating some studying..."
"Yeah..." She pursed her lips, thinking. "I thought that, too."
Okay. Flustered time was over now. Her bag was already on the ground, so she supposed she might as well join it.
Amelia plopped onto the grass by the tree. Her back bumped the bark as they sat in the shade. Her eyes fell on his study materials and she arched an eyebrow.
"Studying?" She leaned forward and hauled her bag towards her. Surprisingly, there was no crater where it had been. With effort, she retrieved her behemoth of a book from its depths. "Me too." She waggled it. As best she could. Because it could have been the next Colonel Sassacre's Daunting Text of Magical Frivolity and Practical Japery. It already had it beaten on 'daunting'. Only a matter of time.
It was Amelia's turn to jump. She hadn't thought there would be someone using her spot. Because this was her spot. Obviously. And nobody in their right minds ever sat in the shade under trees... she mentally facepalmed at herself for not checking. Whoops.
"Sorry! I was distracted."
That had nearly crushed him. And his. And him. Why was she suddenly flustered? Oh yeah, he was cute. That hadn't occurred to her. Still didn't. Nope.
Soooo, yeeeeah. About all that flagrant goofing off and end of year stuff she'd been working on? Well. The good thing was that she'd gotten the project pretty much wrapped. The bad part was she still had plenty of studying left to do. She'd been studying, yeah. She was a good girl. A smart girl. But she could be smarter. And she felt she needed more studying. Because this was important.
Kids were playing in the park and having a blast. It was just too bright and beautiful to pass up. She could study outside.
Her backpack was heavier than a golem, and she hadn't even brought that many books. Ugh. She was pretty sure when she sat down on the grass and dropped it, it would leave an imprint, but what the hell? She'd brought it along.
Her eyes drifted as she walked over towards the shade of a tree. Children, playing. Boating. Eating. Soccer. Frisbee. Life. It was amazing. Unfortunately, she didn't see the guy on the other side of the tree when she heaved her book down by where she was planning to take her nice spot in the shade. The bag dropped.
Out, Amelia followed, in Megan's bullying wake. She'd remained seated, of course. Why bother forcing your way out when someone else was all-too-willing to do it for you? They reached the sidewalk and the sun, then turned her attention towards leading Megan to the dojo. Someone else reached them first.
Amelia arched an eyebrow at the scarf girl. Wait. Was that...?
>>"Densaugeo!"
The girl stormed off.
Amelia took a brief moment to recall where she had heard or read that remark. Then blinked again.
"... I think you just got cursed." She commented. Another blink. "Anyways. Follow me."
More leading, yay. It wasn't too far off. A minute or three of walking later, they stopped in front of a simple white concrete building with glass windows and a glass entrance in the front. Its simplicity belied all the detailed butt-falling to be trained within. Amelia held the door open for her ladyfriend, then followed her through the door. They reached the main desk.
A woman with square glasses and a nose ring greeted them with a sloppy smile. "Hey," she said. "Here for the class?" Amelia confirmed with a nod. "Third door on your right down the hall." She pointed.
>>"It was great meeting you Ami. We should hang out some time and exchange lots of juicy gossip behind Gawainya's back!"
Amelia aimed a military-styled salute right back. She smiled.
And then Megan was off, with a 'Have fun snogging~' and a mischievous look. Amelia couldn't help but chuckle and shake her head. What a character. And also... girl talk? Her interest was piqued. Apparently, so was Gawain's, though in an entirely different realm. She could almost roll her eyes. Not two seconds had the lady been out the door before he'd wanted more of that.
Where had they been? "I think," Amelia pressed a finger to her lips thoughtfully. Her eyes drifted to his mouth. "You were somewhere around here. And wearing a shirt."
It was one of the reasons she liked him. He was nothing if not resilient.
