The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He reacted like she'd suddenly told him 'I want to have your babies'. Wait. Had she? She hadn't even been thinking those thoughts. Or humming that tune.
Amelia dropped her attention to her shoulders. Which he was pretty much shaking her by. She tapped a hand with a finger and frowned.
"Calm down. I didn't just say "I want to have your babies", did I?" She asked to tell him she hadn't, but also for confirmation. Her tone sort of showed it. "... I meant that I have stuff to do before I even consider it... and I want to be safe. Which you get. So thank you." Unless you're carrying that stuff around for ladies like Maxine...
So he just carried that around all the time? Like a boy scout or something? She didn't know what to think about that... except that it was... good? She supposed. She confirmed that out loud. "Good." Because. "I don't really want any kids before I'm ready..."
Hey! This was awkward! Cool. How could she make it less awkward?
"Or before we're ready..." She added. "We both need to get through college and get jobs..." And there was more stuff to list, but she left it unlisted. She just looked him in the eye.
"Sorry," she said frankly. "About last night. That was messed up."
And the awkward ride home with Kealey hadn't been any better. Apparently, they were cool. She understood. But... Amelia hated herself for having put Kealey in that position. Where she'd had to be the adult, not just the friend.
He'd brought gear. Funny. She supposed maybe they could train too, if he wanted. She had been training on her own. Hadn't shown any of it to him, either. Could be fun.
"Hey, it's Ami. Meet me in the Danger Room in thirty."
She hung up.
Thirty minutes later in the danger room, she checked her watch.
Man, this was going to be an awkward talk. So she checked her watch again and was glad she'd scheduled it for somewhere they were unlikely to be disturbed.
This was unfair. This was totally unfair. She was embarrassed as hell, AND she had a good boyfriend who wasn't telling her to tell Kealey off and boldly go anywhere they'd never gone before. Also, she had just made a mental Star Trek reference and she was the world's hugest nerd on account of it. So grr.
GRR!
Plus, he'd kissed her forehead and he knew how she felt about that. She liked it. Dammit. Too good a guy.
God. She didn't even understand all the emotions whizzing and banging light-speed around her head.
She probably needed to go. Yes. She would have to go. Fine. And Kealey was waiting.
"I'll talk to you tomorrow..." She mumbled. Then sulked out of the room.
Stuff. And more stuff. When it rained, it poured and boy did she feel guilty. Gawain probably still didn't have a clue what was going on.
Back they went, and then, Amelia let go of his hand and went to the door. She looked over her shoulder at Gawain.
"She isn't my chaperone. This isn't about New Years. Like I said, we were doing inventory in the library. And then we stumbled onto something awkward. And I bolted to talk to you... it's late. I should probably get a ride home anyways." Her voice faded as she sullenly turned back to the door.
Yeah. Okay. This was stupid. And she was failing at her own emotion control thing.
"Take me back," she frowned. "Kealey's a friend. I can't just lie to her about being in your room this late. We were doing inventory, and then the stuff with Agnes and Becca, and now this. Her brain's probably fried too, and I ran... and now this. I can't do this to her." She literally facepalmed. Why was she being such an idiot? And why was she afraid of Kealey suddenly? "You don't have to worry about her being shocked or anything. She already knows about New Years..." She added in a disgruntled mutter.
You know what? Maybe it would be better if she just stepped out of the door right now? In the wrong room. Nope. That was dumb, too. Gah. Why was being a good friend such a lame thing right now? It really ruined the mood.
"Hurry," she urged him. "And keep. Your emotions. Under control. Shhh!"
Like they could hide emotions from an empath? Oh well. At least this was one of the few people who actually knew she and Maya had... hey, more blushing. How fortuitous. Maybe she should just come clean?
Nope. Amelia dragged that hand free and gave it back to him, pressing it against his chest. Then she found her feet and started using them to get to a mirror. Or maybe a TV.
Amelia muttered. "What I wouldn't give to escape into a movie..." That might be better than all of this. But probably not.
Yeah, Kealey was probably out and about, and yeah, that was risky, and yeah, she would probably show up in all of five seconds, but... that wasn't why she'd stopped him.
Nope. There was a much more important reason she'd stopped him.
"Do you have a c--". She was cut off. Someone had knocked on the door. Amelia sighed and glanced that way. Oh, god dammit. Amelia kept her voice to a whisper as she continued. "An escape route. Can you take me to the nearest reflective surface to your room that isn't obvious from your door or the hall? And keep your emotions down. She senses hormones."
Oh myyyy... how had this little situation happened?
A sudden lame thought struck her as she arched that eyebrow. Kealey was aware that she was at the mansion. She may have momentarily escaped, but... the woman was still technically her ride.
She blushed and returned it. All of the kisses, actually. They seemed to be doubling each turn.
Also, sweet Jegus. He walked in on that sort of stuff all the time?
"Better?" She echoed, and arched an amused eyebrow. "You walk in on this sort of stuff all the time, huh? Then you must be..." Kiss. "Completely." Another kiss. She broke it and kept within a hair's breadth of his face, whispering. "Desensitized."
Desensitized by now, yup. But to what? And to who.
Her eyes, they did linger staring into his. It was quite the view.
"Kealey and I were doing something in the library, and then we weren't, and stumbled in on Agnes and Rebecca. Together. Do I need to draw you a picture?"
Why was he assuming she was drunk or on something? Wasn't this sort of thing something to giggle about! And maybe blush? Maybe.
"Things we really wouldn't want other people to see, Gawain. Don't make me walk a line. I'm not drunk or high or crazy. Just traumatized. I'm not used to walking in on people I'm not gonna say doing what. I guess you must be. Or are just being clueless. Heh."
She was on his bed. And it was late. Was he really stupid about this whole topic or not following her? Did she need to kiss him to get him to understand what she'd just seen? That was a really stupid... idea.
Some time between the words 'stupid' and 'idea' had passed through her mind she'd tugged him closer into a kiss. She held it for a moment, then set him free.
"Duh," she said. "Only better. Now let's just keep it vague and move on."
Drag drag drag, she got dragged. She supposed that was okay. No, she wasn't drunk. Unless being scarred for life was a sort of drunk.
"Agnes's girlfriend." Amelia grinned. "I helped her fight a tyrannical teen in the sewers once and free a bunch of kids from his evil clutches. No big."
What was the big deal?
And worried? Why would Gawain be worried...?
"I guess 'worried for Kealey' would be a fair thing to be." She considered. "She was there, too. When..." And then Amelia started giggling again. Teehee. Tee. Hee.
