Everyday clothing style: Shorts, or normal pants cut to be shorts. He never wears the same clothes for too long because he ends dirtying and ripping it apart. When this happens he just steals more clothes. Occasionally he may wear shirts with the sleeves torn apart but this is extremely rare. Uniform: N/A Sleepwear: Same as everyday clothing. Miscellaneous clothing: If he wants to wander around at day without worrying about the sun, he should use something that covers his whole body. As a sworn enemy of gloves, to cover his hands he uses T-shirts too long for him which generally covers all his body like a dress. And keep his hands hidden in the sleeves. Occasionally he uses sunglasses to avoid the annoying sunlight in his delicate eyes. After a rainy day, he likes to uses stolen umbrellas like parasols. Every piece in his scarce wardrobe is constantly changed when the opportunity presents itself.
Character
Personality: His behavior can simply be summarized in one word: Opportunist. He does not have any kind of planning skills for the future because the only thing he cares about is the day he is living on. Then he can always be found stealing and using what he needs, then dismissing it although he might need it some days later. When a problem occurs, he just looks for a momentary solution. Although he does not mind to walk around, he would always prefer what is close and within reach instead of something he may have in the future or that is not at sight. A promise for goods in the near future is a hollow thing for him; therefore he prefers the more tangible reward even if the promised goods are way better than what he has.
The only thing that prevents him from interacting normally with people is the love he feels for nature, since he considers it a source of food but also shelter and a playground. In consequence he spends a lot time hunting and wandering alone just to enjoy the gift of nature. Is for that that sometimes he forgets that there are people living in the city and often ignore them without realizing it. But if he has the opportunity to speak with a human he would gladly do it. Mainly because they have a very interesting way of dressing and extremely delicious and exotic food they can share with him.
He respects all creatures equally, and only hunts enough to eat. Occasionally his love for nature makes him fight with humans, because they always throw trash in his home and hurt animals, but these small conflicts never ends with the death of the human offender because he is noble but mostly because he will forget that offense in no time.
His curiosity always leads him to try new things. Principally, he seeks for new ways to have fun, new ways to fight and new places/things to eat. The world is a place full of interesting things to play with or eat, and he is willing to run all types of risks in order to know a little more of the world around him. Even if these risk means mayor injures.
He hates with all his heart all kinds of electronic and mechanical technology as they cause a lot of noise that disturbs his sleep. So whenever he has the opportunity, he enjoys biting, trampling, burning or scratching all types of electronic devices from phones to cars. If it produces noise it is his enemy. Of course the possibility of eliminating all the electronic noise is not available so he is not obsessed with its destruction.
Hobbies/ Interests: One of his favorite hobbies is to collect bright objects that he jealously guards in his "home". For this task he uses a complicated pattern passed from generation to generation of crows: If it shines, he wants it. His "home" although small and somewhat dirty, is decorated with lots of shiny things. (Example: Rings, watches, candy wrappers, glass.)
Although he loves rats at different stages of cooking, he occasionally likes to enjoy human food since it is not that alive or messy to eat. He loves pizza and hot dogs. So occasionally, when he feels brave and eager for adventure, he likes to get into restaurants, pizza and fast-food stores to steal everything he can carry. And since the more he has to fight to get his food, the better it taste, his raids always lead a pointless destruction and fights with humans, dogs, cats and even machines.
When it comes to have a good time, he is not picky at all and would pretty much do anything in order to avoid being bored. Some of examples may be to: fight with straight dogs, steal food, and rest on the grass then eat it (the grass and the food). To walk through the park is a good exercise he enjoys as much as climbing trees but not as much as he loves to dig new rooms for his treasures. Some other examples may involve more dangerous tasks like to pursuit humans and scare them, or to throw stones at distracted people just to annoy them, or to try to destroy a car. And over all of that, he likes the most to discover new objects. He loves to find strange objects in the city, to try to make them work and destroy them in the process.
Job or part time job and description: N/A
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Since he did not remember much about his past, he tries to live day by day, so there are not so many things that concern him other than to keep his stomach happy and avoid becoming a Statue (Go to Secondary Mutation for more information). To enter “statue mode” is one of the things that concern him the most, mainly because he often ends up waking up in places he did not known and has to find his way home again. His personality and his lack of attention make his concerns to be minimal and almost non-existent. For example, if he wakes up somewhere else, he would just walk to his home again, perhaps enjoying an adventure on the road. He is hungry, a good hunt will entertain him. So he is always playing and enjoying each day.
Because of their size, strength, agility and creepy "howl", he has an uncontrollable phobia for horses, as he see them as violent and evil creatures that wander the earth eating small green animals and making tall men even taller.
Special talents: He is very good at hunting, digging and climbing. And he is getting some experience at riding. Great player of freeze tag.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Neutral inclined toward evil. He rarely hurts people, animals or objects intentionally but sometimes his concepts of fun are closer toward the sort of thing that can be dangerous for others, making him look like a bad guy. But he is just really trying to have fun. Despite his acts of vandalism, he has a great attachment for nature and animals and he is always trying to help creatures in danger, or creatures he believes that are in danger. This could lead to lot of misunderstandings that often ends in unnecessary confrontations with humans. Since his lifestyle is almost animal like and depends on his ability to take advantage of situations, he would do some things that humans would ban as wrong or evil, even when his nature is quite good hearted. (Note: He does not kill humans to eat. He hunts only small animals such as birds, lizards, rats and fish. He never kills cats or dogs, since they appreciate them and they are often his playmates.)
Mutations
Primary mutation description:
Goblin Physiology (Goblinoid) At first glance, his skin is completely green and his height is very low even for a small person. He has no hair and his head is large and round making his body look smaller than it really is. His ears are pointed and long. His mouth is wider than a normal human´s mouth, and inside all the teeth are prepared to tear flesh since they are all pointed and sharp. His nose is very small so his sense of smell is extremely weak, but he compensates with an excellent night vision. As some nocturnal mammals, he has a thin membrane called tapetum lucidum in the back of the eye that reflect light. This process makes possible to see even with the smaller source of light. This especial membrane produces eyeshine when artificial light is directed toward the eye. In his case, the eyeshine is red. His hands and feet have four toes, lacking the little finger. And have hard nails with which he can dig, climb and attack.
Strengths: Although his body is small, this lack of mass gives him an small boost in agility and speed, so he can walk/run as fast as a normal man. Because of his small size he is pretty good at hiding. It also makes him more difficult to hit. His night vision is excellent for hunting or moving at night or in places where lighting is poor. His strong arms can lift his light weighted body easily giving him a great ability to climb.
Weaknesses: Since he is small, his strength is limited by his size. Despite being as fast as a human at short distances, a human would always win thanks to his height. Since the human would gain more distance even if he is running at the same speed. Although his stature allows him to hide almost anywhere, his characteristic green skin is very easy to visualize. In order for him to see in darkness, there must be a small source of light. As an added difficulty, most things are designed for adults. For example: The clothes he wears are from kids, because otherwise an adult´s clothes would be too large.
Secondary mutation description:
Carbonization by heat His green skin is too sensitive that under certain conditions it would carbonize. It happens as a defense mechanism to protect his body from heat and solar radiation.
The direct rays of the sun, along with any other source of direct heat, like fire, can cause a massive carbonization of his body, which once converted into carbon immediately merges with other minerals in his body and changes shape to form carbon fiber. This process transforms his skin, flesh, organs and bones into carbon fiber and thus his whole body turns into a Statue. (Note: The minerals used are normal mineral found in any human body. What give carbon fiber its strength is the pattern like fibers one over the other highly packed together.)
Statue When his body starts to get too hot, it activates this defense mechanism that transforms him into a Statue of carbon fiber. Each cell of his body changes from something organic to carbon fiber gaining all its properties. The hardness of the material provides a high resistance to impact/blunt and cutting damage, along with a greater resistance to chemicals and heat. In this state he is totally immune to heat since each tissue of his body was transformed into carbon fiber. [Note: The electric signals send by nerves and neurons transform in carbon fiber too, that’s let his body and mind frozen. Once he returns to normal, each electric impulse would start to move again bringing him to the very moment before the change (in body state and memories)]
Environment heat would not active the Armor (Not in NY at least, maybe in Egypt in the hottest day…) His skin should be exposed to fire or electricity to start the process by heat. Sunlight activates the Armor automatically not by heat but in reaction to solar radiation.
Cooling Since in Statue mode he is not able to move on his own to a suitable location for the cooling process to begin, he must be moved by someone else or he would have wait until the heat source or solar radiation disappear. If exposed to sunlight, he has to wait for nightfall to begin the cooling process normally. If exposed to a heat source, he would remain in that state until the source is gone. In this case, when his body begins to cool down, all his body would return slowly to its natural state. The last thing to change is the carbon fiber in his skin. Once his body is fully recovered, he regains his consciousness and memory in the last point before becoming a Statue.
Different temperatures mean different cooling times. If the carbonization starts by heat (direct contact with fire or electricity) he would be turned into Statue and would need to wait for his body to cool down. Depend on the amount of heat that triggered the process, it could take from 15 minutes to several hours. For example, if he receives a localized electric discharge his whole body would turn into Statue but only a small part would need to cool down. So the process would be short. If his whole body is exposed to electricity, the cooling process would take longer, maybe several hours. The same comparison can be made with fire, if the flame licks his fingers, it would take less time to cool than if his whole body is exposed to the flames. In the case of carbonization by solar radiation, he needs to be moved to the shade for the process to start, and it would depend on how much radiation he absorbed. Less time under the sun as a Statue would mean a shorter cooling time. [Note: Even when he is in Statue mode and does not receive damage from heat/radiation, he still absorb heat and radiation. Because of that, he needs to be moved or wait for the source to disappear, and once he is not exposed anymore, he would be able to cool down]
[Note: All fire/electricity/solar radiation damage received is absorbed and healed when he turns into Statue and disappear of his skin when he turns back into normal. This does not happen with other wounds.]
While he is a Statue his skin becomes of a dark gray.
In Statue, he loses consciousness and does not recover it until his body cool down and returns to normal.
Strengths: While his body is transformed, it preserves all the qualities of carbon fiber, featuring a high resistance to impacts and cuts, together with an increased in chemical and heat resistance. This makes his Statue form almost indestructible.
Weaknesses: The process is totally passive and can be summoned at will.(Note: Even so, he can create an artificial situation in which he will be exposed to a heat source or solar radiation to turn into a Statue on purpose. This does not have any positive reward for him anyway.)
When entering the Statue mode, he lost his consciousness and do not recover it until the cooling process end. It would happen even if he is in the midst of a battle or at sea trying to swim for his live or falling from a building. In this state he is completely vulnerable and is not aware of anything that happens around him.
Despite being tough, he is not indestructible. Although difficult to kill, it is possible. If the Statue is destroyed, he dies. (Creative Example: If a fight takes place where the sun turns him into a statue, his enemy can take his body and throw it into the ocean. When his body cools and lose the armor, his body would be instantly crushed by the pressure of the sea. If he did not yet sink so deep, he would drown.)
If he turns into Statue after receiving some damage to his internal organs, skin, bones or flesh, these wounds would turn into carbon fiber, but once his body cools downs completely all the wounds would return to the exact place and with the same level of damage, since his body remembers his state before changing.
Fighting Style
Explanation: Since he is highly skilled in the art of hunting, he sometimes carries weapons with him. Sometimes it is a bow with stone-tipped arrows, which he generally uses for hunting. Other of his weapons can be the large butcher knife which he uses as a sword. And sometimes a broomstick with a knife tied on one end like a spear.
If he has no weapon, he is able to use his nails to scratch fiercely and his sharp teeth to tear the skin easily. In any case he would always use his size to sneak and attack by surprise, relying on his speed and reflexes rather than his endurance and strength.
Pros for fighting style: If the pointed end of his weapons enter the skin of humans, it can be lethal. His size gives him some advantages, since he would be more difficult to him. Most humans would have to bend down to punch him while he is tall enough to punch directly to the crotch.
Cons for fighting style: since he is small, his arms do not always have the strength for his weapons to penetrate enough to cause a lethal wound. If he is not carrying his makeshift weapons, his height limit the areas where he can land a hit effectively, so the opponent's head and heart are seldom achieved. Although an adult would have to bend down to punch him, they can easily kick him.
Faction Allegiance Unaffiliated.
History Of Your Character Within a year of being born, her biological mother decided she did not want to have a child with green skin and pointed ears that also lacked the little fingers of hands and feet. So ignoring her good judgment, she drove to the nearest inhabited place, the Appalachian Mountains (Alabama). There she left the poor green baby to his fate, knowing it was a clear death sentence.
Still, the boy was lucky enough to be found by a stepmother that welcomed him into a pack of uneven mutants. The only thing they have in common was their weird appearance and their obviously visible mutations. His pack was composed of four mutants. Her mother that was a telepathic Moose shifter that forgot how to turn back into human (luckily her abilities also gave her a way to speak with him, at least in a limited way). There was also a giant slug that claimed to be the moose husband that spoke with a bubbly voice. And two other boys his age that were mutants too. One had several eyes and ears, while the other could turn his head like an owl and spat ball of half digested animals. With them he learned how to survive in the mountains, mostly how to avoid the cruel winters and how to get food by hunting the different creatures around. The whole pack received him gladly since they also knew the pain of being left alone for being difference. And since he had certain skills that were useful to hunt, he soon became the favorite of lady moose.
At first he was a shocked when he discovered that there where others creatures that looked different from them. But despite the initial shock, he had enough courage to go into the nearest town quite often. Once he discovered the town, it was impossible for him to forget all the tasty things he found, so he keeps going down to raid the small village as many times as he could. His favorite thing about the town was the food. Sometimes he ate all he could while he was still there, creating a lot of vandalism. Other times he carried the food back to the woods to share with his pack. Soon, aided by his brothers and parents, they began to steal food on daily basis, until finally one brave citizen decided to hunt them all. Luckily that citizen was his biological father.
Four years passed and his biological mother died of a disease, confessing the secret of her baby disappearance while dying. From that day his father, left alone and heartbroken searched for him everywhere until finally after a year of looking for him, he got a hint of where he may be. Not a lot of children have green skin, so when a town started to be raided by a green humanoid creature he knew it was his son.
While he was prisoner in his human father´s house, he learned a lot of things. First his father taught him the basic of English so they could communicate. It was hard and he was not willing to learn but after establishing a way of teaching based on edible rewards, he quickly learned not only the basic of the language but also some things from the world that his father thought that may interest him. All his attempts to establish a connection with his son failed since the green creature could not see him as his father. He already had a sticky and slow father and a magnificent moose to take care of him. He also had two funny brothers. The extensive time they spent together could not erase the wild in him; it just taught him the language of the white people and a few things about the world but clearly not enough for him to crave for civilization as much as he loved nature. Finally, his father gave up and released the green child in the woods again since he was not able to turn him back into a “human”.
When he returned to the pack after two years of being captive, things had changed. His brothers were still willing to forgive him for having gone for so much time but his father insisted with nasty slug treats that he must leave. His mother ignored him too, so in the end he accepted his new fate. With so much pain, he left the pack that was once his family and wandered alone in the mountains. The language he learned did not serve him in that completely isolated place, so he mostly used what his two fathers taught him and forget the rest. To live alone was harder than in the pack, but in the end he managed to survive on his own.
At some point after he started to wander the mountains alone, his secondary power activated for the first time (by solar radiation). That night he woke up in the same place and with the same memories. It took him several days to understand that being under the sun put him in that state, so afterward he tried to avoid daylight as much as he could. Since his eyes were adapted to see clearly at night that was not a big problem. While wandering around, he also got the chance to get on fire by stepping into a camp fire that proved to activate his Statue mode. Thanks to these two incidents he learned that heat and sun were two things that could make him “freeze” and transform into a Statue.
A year after he returned to the mountains, he was captured again. This time by a local amateur cryptozoologist that believed he was part of some new species of primates. Of course the man did not have much experience or the means to carry out DNA tests and related experiments, so he sent pictures of his discovery to many laboratories, until finally a laboratory in New York became interested in the green humanoid. Since he had not enough money to fly, he began a long journey by road to reach NY City. For the first time in the life of the cryptozoologist everything was perfect. Until a few miles away from his objective, the creature he named Goblin tore his neck to escape. Without knowledge of the geography, he wandered around the city until he finally found a place that was similar to his home place, Central Park.
[Note: From his adoptive parents, he learned a lot of survival skills. From his biological father, a limited knowledge in English and the world. And from his last captor, the name Goblin that he misunderstood as Gu- Lin, becoming Guglin later.]
Roleplay Where did you learn about this site?: Google. Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Celeste Manfrella, formerly Fausto Martense. Sample RP:
Guglin was playing a new game with his friend, Dog, the stray dog that sometimes went to greet him when he was in the neighborhood but a small flash as bright as the sun erase his memory and seized his mind ordering him to stop. But his feet did not obey, and continued moving in an attempt to reach his friend who had moved away with its four hairy legs. His small body was not aerodynamic, so he did not fly for long, and soon fell to encounter the moist earth. Head first. Without even worrying about the mud that covered his whole face, the little creature stood up and began to search for that glow with his huge yellow eyes. The fall let him stunned, but he swore that he saw the light very close... in some direction. But it was not anywhere. It seemed to have disappeared, devoured by that sea of grass.
While wondering what had happened to that bright light, he began to walk without any particular direction as he always did when he was bored and had nothing to do. When he felt that he was going somewhere, he quickly changed direction. He did it a couple of times until one of his changes in direction pointed him in the direction of the glimmer again. It was there, shinning, mocking him for his bad luck. It was not far so he ran toward the spark, but when he arrived to the place, the flash had disappeared again. Instead he found a small piece of metallic fabric with various colors. But since it did not shine, he threw it again. And then, suddenly, from nowhere in particular the brightness appeared in front of him, slowly hovering between air currents.
His green fingers tried to grab the paper that drifted away, clearly waiting for him to come at take its shiny body, but at the moment his four fingers began to close, something gigantic leap on his back and throw him to the ground, burying his face on the earth again. The goblin stood up with a jump, growling and cursing at his invisible attacker. But even when he looked around, it was not there. It seemed as the park was full of ghosts. Once again he began his search. But no matter how hard he tried or how hard he stomped the ground, the paper was nowhere. He was beginning to lose his patience when the lights of a car reflected in the small candy wrapper. This time Guglin tried to hide from the light source, his skin color helped him to blend into the grass so there was no way the flash could know of his sneaky movements. He was very close to the paper when he heard something. This time his attacker made more noise and his long ears warned him with anticipation. So the goblin could turn back in time to have a glimpse of his enemy. Dog jumped on him once again, this time his back hit the ground. Even before they hit the ground, the dog was biting his face in a playful way. The goblin attacked back with his teeth, but not too tightly. In a ball of bites, growls, fur and green skin, both rolled on the grass until they were completely exhausted. Without a bit of energy left and pain in multiple places, both dropped heavily, and soon fell asleep where they had fallen.
