The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Normally, Lee didn't work so hard, if at all, to keep Tarin calm when games weren't going well. But Tarin also didn't normally wake up before dawn because he was that excited about the game on that day.
But as he started to be getting himself worked up because the game was not going well, her reminders that it was still early and that there was still lots of game left to play seemed to be helping keeping Tarin…
Well not relaxed, but about in as good of a mood as he generally was when a Mets game wasn't going well.
He even turned away from the TV to smile at her, and Lee smiled right back at him. Yes, it would be nice if the game was going better, but this was more how Lee had pictured the day going when Tarin had told her that he was taking the day off work to watch the game.
At least it was until she actually heard the ball get hit, and Tarin pulled his hat down over his eyes.
Squeezing Tarin's hand again, Lee turned back to look at the TV.
And sighed softly. How had Tarin known simply from the sound of the bat? "Yes," Lee said softly as she turned back to look at Tarin. And used her free hand to gently turn his face back towards hers. "But remember, we still have 6 innings to go."

Tarin, it seemed, was not a big fan of Queens. Not that Lee had really had much interest in the area herself. And Lee hadn't had a reason to go there in years, so she doubted there would be much of an issue in the near future.
Not that it mattered at the moment. Right then, what mattered was Tarin, and the game they were watching.
As the second inning progressed, Lee shifted closer to Tarin on the couch, still holding his hand. The game was certainly not going how she thought it would when she'd been so sure that the Mets would win. They hadn't even managed to get a single base hit yet, but the other team currently had two players on base. Great.
At least the inning ended without scoring.
The third inning started much better, getting someone on base finally. Hearing Tarin speak, Lee turned to look at him with a small smile. Yes, she had needed a lot of explanations in order to understand the game. But her need for that had dropped as the months went on.
And this was something that Lee had understood pretty early on.
But the game wasn't going great, and Lee suspected that this explanation was at least in part to reassure himself, so Lee just smiled and nodded. "Well, hopefully we get to a couple of them this inning," she replied.
Except, other than that base hit, the inning didn't go much better than the previous two, and soon the Mets were taking their places in the field.
"It's still okay," Lee told Tarin as she curled her legs up beside her on the couch. And the other team got someone on base. "We haven't scored, but they haven't either…"
As Lee finished speaking, the next batter made a good hit, and Lee's words tailed off slightly.

Lee just smiled as Tarin answered her while his eyes were glued to the TV. At least he was answering her and wasn completely lost yet.
He did have a point, though. Yes, you were much more likely to get wrapped up in the excitement of the game if you were watching in person, and a lot of times it ended up being a more enjoyable expo, but no matter where you were sitting, you did end up missing a lot more of the actual game.
"Honestly, even if I wanted to see every game in person, I wouldn't get season tickets. Going to Queens that often would suck," Lee replied. And this was coming from the woman who had gone to Brooklyn a couple times a week when she had been volunteering at the Sanctuary.
When Lee heard Tarin groan, she turned to look at the TV. Already two outs? That was not looking too good for her insistence that the Mets were going to win this game.
"It's fine," Lee said as she reached her hand out for Tarin's. "It's only the first inning."
As she was speaking, the third batter also struck out. Well then. "Don't worry, there's still lots of game left."

Tarin didn't have a seat number picked out because he couldn't decide whether an aisle seat would be a good idea or not. Which was very fair. And just further proved that Tarin had thought about this a lot before she had even considered asking the question.
Not that it was actually surprising that Tarin had thought about this a lot. He thought about everything important to him a lot. And this was baseball.
"I don't know about for baseball," Lee said. "But it definitely is a different feeling when watching hockey when you're closer to the rink. Though you do feel the energy of being at a live game no matter where you are."
But then Tarin's attention was taken by the TV. Turning, Lee saw that the game had (finally) started. Part of Lee was hoping that now Tarin's ridiculousness would be a little more restrained since there was the game that he could now focus on. But as she glanced over at him when he spoke, another part hoped not. It was good seeing him this excited.

Tarin seemed to believe what Lee said about him being upset with himself if he didn't actually watch the game. Especially since he took the day off work specifically to do that.
At least Tarin didn't say anything else about not being able to watch it.
But when she continued speaking, Tarin also turned on the couch to look at her better. Not completely, he still had an eye on the TV. Well, Lee had already gotten used to that when games were on and Tarin's attention was on it.
Lee had asked her question about seats as a way to distract Tarin, something that he'd have to think about that would eat up the time before the game actually started.
Apparently, Tarin already had a very exact answer in mind for that question. Lee just looked at Tarin for a moment. Then she shook her head slightly with a smile. "What, you don't have the exact seat number you'd want picked out?" Lee asked, her voice slightly teasing.
"But hockey's the same way. If you're too close, you miss almost everything."

Tarin grinned when she said she hoped he was going to end up being more ridiculous. With everything that had happened in the last couple of months, how tense and serious things had been, Lee really hoped that this happiness that Tarin was exuding would last much longer. It didn't make those other things go away, but it did make them easier to deal with. Especially at the moment.
"And I put the hat on well before the game," Lee pointed out. "That's got to count extra."
It had to count for extra. Lee had put the hat on much earlier than she ever had before a game. Almost as soon as they had gotten home earlier.
And as they waited for the game to actually start, Tarin sat there on the couch fidgeting. Lee knew that feeling of being literally unable to sit still. It hadn't happened nearly as often the last few months after she realized that she could (and should) shut her siphoning off so she didn't end up awake all night.
Though, after the museum, Lee had felt literally unable to stay still for a couple days.
“I don’t know if I can watch….”
"Of course you can," Lee said as she turned on the couch to look at Tarin more directly. "You'd be upset with yourself if you didn't want."
Distraction was what Tarin needed, at least until the game started. Not something that would distract him for long, just a few minutes.
Then Lee got an idea. "If you could be there today," she started. "If you had tickets and could be sitting anywhere in the stadium, where would you want to be sitting?"

Tarin didn't really react to her comment about him and his behaviour being cute. It was such an innocent happy excitement that Lee had never seen from Tarin. With how reserved he had been with showing any emotion that previous spring, he had probably never acted like this. So Lee was happy to see it, even if it was a little excessive.
Then Tarin was moving her hat out of the way as he leaned down to kiss her. Smiling happily, Lee returned the kiss. But much sooner than she was wanting, Tarin was pulling back from the kiss and putting her hat back on her head.
At least he was moving back to this side of the couch to sit down again. And warning her that he was likely going to get more ridiculous before he got 'better'.
"I should hope so," Lee said as she looked over at Tarin as he leaned back against the couch. Wondering how long he was going to actually stay seated this time. "Considering they're going to win, I would expect you to end up being even more ridiculous."

It looked like Will was about to answer her question when she followed it up by asking him to be honest. And he was then silent as he fidgeted some more with his shirt.
Lee hadn't gotten a real answer from the young man to this point through the texts that they'd sent. He'd avoided the question, he'd been sarcastic, made jokes, and avoided some more. What had happened had been huge, and serious, dangerous, and Will had stepped out onto the street that day with Quin planning to go look for her laptop.
Yes, she and Tarin had been planning on just going to start cleaning up the shop, but Michael had already asked Tarin for help before that day, and with Michael knowing what she had been a part of in the past, it wasn't unexpected that she had been called for help when things were happening in multiple places.
As Will finally started speaking, and was actually answering her question, Lee nodded. And listened for what he wasn't saying.
"I know, it's a lot to try and come to terms with," Lee agreed. "All of my…lets just call them 'unbelievable situations' started off much more mundane and easier to understand than an ancient mystic resurrecting her pharaoh and an army. Is there anything I can help with?"
After all, spirit merges were just an uncommon, random Friday night compared to what happened at the museum.

Two hours ago a run would have been a good idea. Well, if she had known that Tarin was going to be like this, she would have suggested a run then. And while she knew that he was excited, Lee hadn't expected him to be unable to sit still while waiting for the game to start.
As if on cue, Tarin stood up to walk around again. Lee sighed softly as she shook her head. She'd never seen anyone, even Robert, this nervously excited before a game they were going to be watching. Though, the Leafs had made it to the post season for the last…however many years.
She knew this was different, and exciting for Tarin.
Feeling Tarin stop behind the couch and lean over, Lee leaned her head back to look up at him. As he thanked her for putting up with all of this.
Lee laughed softly. "As ridiculous as all this is," she murmured looking up at him. "I have to admit, it's kind of cute."

Lee questioned what they were throwing, and Ashton responded by having the room create more objects. Objects that they were supposed to throw into the rings on the floor. In a program that Shin had apparently created.
This was going to be interesting to say the least.
"See. Lasers and saw blades are a perfect example of why you probably shouldn't go around telling random parents about the danger room," Lee said with a shake of her head.
"So you're aware, though, I suck at throwing," she let him know. "I'm much more effective at close quarters. So I hope you weren't expecting me to be too much help with throwing things accurately. But let's give this a try."

For weeks now, Tarin had been talking about a 'magic number'. About the possibility that the Mets might actually make it into the playoffs this year.
Lee was happy and excited about that as well. No where near as excited as Tarin was, but she was excited. And while Lee had watched enough hockey in her life (and listened to Robert talk about hockey) to know how wildcard spots work, this 'magic number' that Tarin kept trying to explain to her was a little much.
With weeks still to go in the season, and so many teams wins and losses to take into account, it didn't matter how many times Tarin tried to explain it to her, she just could not understand how there could be this one 'magical number', which was obviously changing on a daily basis, to indicate the Mets' chances of actually making it into the playoffs.
But, they were now down to the last couple regular season games. And the Mets only needed to win one more game.
That Lee understood, and could even see herself if she looked at the standings.
The final two games were that day. A weekday daytime double header. Another thing that Lee didn't understand about baseball.
But Tarin had taken the day off work (because of course he did). Not only that, Tarin had woken up early. Quite a bit earlier than normal. And had immediately put on his hat and a Mets shirt. He'd even tried to get her to wear his old hat, the one with the interdimensional magic, when they'd gone out that morning.
She'd refused. Tarin's ridiculousness leading up to the game was rather cute, though.
"I know," Lee said patiently with a small smile as she watched Tarin pace toward the kitchen before coming back. "You've said about a hundred times today. Do we need to go for a quick run to burn off some of this excited energy before the game starts?"

As long as she didn't decide to try and be productive later, once Tarin got home. Lee gave Tarin a little smile. That wouldn't be a problem, doing nothing except spending the entire evening on the couch with Tarin sounded like perfect plans for that night.
But Tarin thought that he should start heading to the shop in case the client was early. "Alright, hurry home," Lee said as she leaned in to kiss Tarin softly.
And hopefully this next client would be early and the one after would be a no show so that Tarin could get back home that much quicker.

Lee definitely noticed that Tarin did not say he would be alright at the shop by him herself. He said that he would manage. Lee knew that those were two very different things. And that for Tarin, he could say that he was 'managing' while barely resisting panicking.
But Lee also couldn't force Tarin to cancel his appointments or agree to her coming to the shop. He was an adult who'd been making his own decisions for decades and has now had a chance to think rationally about the situation.
Plus, Lee was too worried and uncomfortable to walk to the shop on her own after Tarin had left.
"Totally fair," Lee replied. Absolutely nothing sounded like a great plan for the evening. "Though to be honest, I may just sit here and do nothing productive while you're gone, too."

Tarin was trying to convince her that she didn't need to go out again that day. For the previous week, she had been trying to only head out of the building twice a day, once for their run (which so far Lee was still okay going for because she hasn't yet sensed the adapted them) and then to head to the bar. Because there were some things she simply could not do from home. But she had been trying not to go out again because she was worried that the adapted might still or again be there, and that would just make things that much worse.
It also wasn't the difficulty of the upcoming sessions that Lee was concerned about, though she was slightly relieved that Tarin said they would be easy.
"Only if you're sure you'll be alright there by yourself," she said, giving his hand a squeeze in return. "I don't mind going back with you today."

Tarin thought that people who had incredible stories should share them.
And that did often happen. Politicians, notable figures, heroes all often had books written, either by themselves or written about them and what they had done. Lee certainly wasn't any of those.
But it was true that a lot of the things she had done, or that she had lived through were incredible. Hard to believe it was true for most people. But did that incredibleness mean that she should actually write it down?
Kevin had been very happy and excited to hear the stories about his father. And if anything were to happen to get, Kevin wouldn't learn anything else, because who was there who actually knew what had happened to them?
"I'll consider it," Lee said, just before Tarin looked at his watch again with a sigh. "Like I said, I can go back with you if you do."
