The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Never heard of it, but most of America is a mystery to me." She admitted readily and smirked as Bell hid their face. Kitsune genes made it darn near impossible for her to at least cordially tease nice people. She couldn't completely suppress her heritage as much as she wanted to at times.
Himari didn't think it was all that brave to own up to ditching class to pursue her own interests. Between her grandfather and through the Japanese version of middle school she had all the book learning she felt she need to make it through life. School often felt like a prison meant to hold her in and keep her trapped, much like her situation in New York as it was. Maybe she would take a whole week off once the weather was nice and find the nearest forest to frolic in. The call of nature was hard to resist at times. Something that she was sure her father knew when he exiled her to a city of concrete and steel.
"Sort of similar to my own situation it sounds like. Only I am here to avoid living a lie. Does that make me a living truth?" She was mixed about it all. A subtle anger at having to deal with constant pressure of her father trying to break her. spirit in every conceivable way and some inconceivable. Just as complicated was her pride and self assurance that she herself had never broke and a bit guilty that her sister had gotten herself wrapped up in this most recent scheme. Exiles for all intents and purposes. She shrugged it off mentally and physically and refocused her attention on her attractive new friend.
"It is good to find something passionate about, I know where the pots, pans, and knives are at, oh and fridge. That is about the extent of my kitchen knowledge." Giggling a bit, fine cuisine really wasn't in her price range or skill level. Well sushi maybe, but only because it involved using sharp knives to make correctly portioned slices. Grandfather was a fan and made her 'cook' often. A bakery? Didn't she know someone else who wanted a bakery? She couldn't remember offhand. "Helping others is an admirable goal and says a lot about your character." Bell was turning out to be an interesting person. She almost felt a tinge of jealousy that she wasn't nearly as altruistic in her ideals. Most of her focus was on self improvement and trying to be the best version of herself she could be. "I guess you could say I enjoy improving myself. I exercise quite a bit. Train quite a bit." She always felt so awkward talking about herself.

It was in Himari's fox nature to tease, especially with people she knew. So when asked she mock gasped, "You mean you can't tell where I am from?" Giggling a bit before shrugging. "From Japan, the second to last big island to the south. Much warmer their on average." Trying to explain away her apparent dislike of the cold.
"Don't worry about it, I ditch from time to time. You just tell them truth, I will." She was accepting of the consequences of her actions, perhaps a strange take for a 'rebel.' She just didn't go, because there were other things she wanted to do instead.
"Coconut caramel chai? Sounds delicious thank you." Walking alongside Bell at a steady pace. "So a real newbie. Hopefully it hasn't been all warding of bullying and you are enjoying it to some degree?" She asked kindly as they walked into the kitchen. A boy that was eating a sandwich turning and seeing bell first, then seeing Himari blinked and rand out the other door of the kitchen. Himari pretended not to notice and was rather neutral about the whole situation.
She set her heavy backpack on the floor next to a chair and leaned the bamboo art case next to it after slinging it off her back as well. Following suit she shrugged off her clearly second hand jacket and draped it over a chair before taking a seat. Setting the cookies on the table and waiting for Bell to produce this strange tea.
"You know your way around the kitchen already?" Amused at watching Bell easily find what was needed to make the tea.

Himari was genuinely glad she could help Bell with their dilemma. She wished she could take credit, but using the wisdom her grandfather taught her and passing it along to others just seemed appropriate. Where and when she could understand it that was. He had taught her a motherlode of information, not surprising given his advanced age, some of which didn't seem clear until she experienced just such a thing or felt a certain way. Then she understood. Some kids wailed at being told 'you'll understand when you get older' but she trusted in her sofu's advice. She missed him terribly.
Empath? Pausing in her fast walk a moment to glance over at Bell. Faintly surprised for a moment before dismissing it. Well trained humans could tell how people were feeling from a glance. Bell just had an advantage and Himari felt she was a pretty open book as it was so the alarm faded quickly and she shrugged and smiled again to take the compliment as it was intended, even if no one had said those exact words before.. it was pleasing to hear them.
"Thank you.. I think. Could use a sunny spring day right about now. The weather here is not what I am used too." A little psychosomatic shiver given at her words. she was really quite bundled, a turtleneck visible under the jacket. The fact her sister approved of the outfit was probably a good indication of how awful it was.
"I think the first warm sunny day we get I am ditching school and finding somewhere to bask in the sun, naked." The soft growl to her words clearly meant to scorn the weather and not any sort of flirting or self aggrandizement.
Hearing the question she stepped through the doors and shook the chill out a bit before answering, "The kitchen is my favorite indoor place in the school I think, tied with the gym maybe. Tea with cookies would be great!" Giggling a bit at her own enthusiasm and smiling over at Bell as they turned for the kitchen. "Have you been at the school long? I feel like I would remember your face." Not menting she also had a habit of sleeping in class. It was entirely possible they were in the same class and she hadn't even noticed!

Himari blinked a few times at that. Princess of Atlantis and ambassador? She wondered if somehow she knew Celeste then. Then again Celeste didn't look on her time on atlantis fondly. Was this one of the royals that made life difficult for her? She certainly seemed like the type to be completely impossible to deal with on any level.
"Oh? I wouldn't think there was a need for an ambassador. There seems to be lots of people from Atlantis at this school. Are their unseen tensions or is Atlantis worried about a... migration away?" Why did important people have to be so trying to get along with outside of her own family, father not included of course.
"Is their many Princesses in your family?" Trying obviously to get the sickly woman to talk more about herself and Atlantis.

The warm up dance was mildly amusing and maybe a bit depressing. Her reaction to his much belated discovery and dazzling observational skills as he noticed her and more specifically her hair was a simple narrowing of her eyes and a much repressed sigh. So he was one of those types huh? It was going to be a long day.. Looking Carrick over she had to wonder if he was some new arrival. Desperate, poor and having nowhere else to go. Would it be rude to call security and have them sort out the intruder? With wings it would be a simple matter of flying over the fence. She made a bit of a face at his blatant dirtiness and more so as he started tracking it into the kitchen further. "A start most people make hours past already." She felt inclined to point out for no reason in particular.
"You are a resident?" her voice hiding none of the doubt she felt to that proclamation. "Lunch for most of us. Fish and rice, no you can't have any. Feel free to make yourself something. I am sure even if you don't live here the residents won't mind you getting a meal for yourself."
Her own posture changing somewhat to protect her own food as she continued to eat with her chopsticks, amethyst eyes never leaving him in case he tried to swipe some. Did chopsticks always look that sharp? Yeah he wasn't about to take her food without one heck of a fight.

In a strange twisted way Himari could understand that logic. She hadn't wanted to make any waves for months when she first arrived, exempting beating bullies into a pulp. "You shouldn't worry about that it is their job after all. You wouldn't worry about a firefighter stopping a fire would you?" She mused aloud trying to give the person a boost of confidence in dealing with the new problem herself.
She thought that was that and blinked in mild surprise as the voice was next to her and keeping up. Taking care to slow her otherwise determined stride so they could keep up easily. Cool and pretty? Valiant? Whoah! It was rare anyone heaped so much praise on her. It was nice and gave her a warm fuzzy feeling in her stomach. It was also impossible to contain the small burst of scarlet on her face.
"Huh? Uh.. s-sure. I feel kind?" There was a lot to unpack there. She hadn't mentally prepared herself enough for peopling dang it! her whole goal was to get to class and take a nap all bundled up in her clothes next to a heater, not making cute friends! She rarely thought of herself as pretty! Cute maybe.. not pretty. "Your pret- cute too." Himari trying to think of a positive neutral thing to say as she wasn't sure exactly if Bell was a boy or a girl. Not that it mattered much to her personally. She didn't want to offend her new friend. Her normally calm emotions awash with tint of embarrassment and flattery.

Her eyebrows rose a bit as Belle seemed nervous just to be talking to someone. The blush was cute and a bit endearing watching as her hand was taken and blinking as her arm felt good as new, heck they were cute. The arm wouldn't have really bothered her all that much and healed quickly, but maybe it was just as well there wouldn't be any evidence of her little fight.
"Oh? Well they should know better. Think I have beat one of them up before.." Glancing at the people on the ground a moment before shrugging in complete indifference. "Next time I would say get a teacher or X-person. Or call me I guess." Grinning impishly at Belle before gesturing that they should probably move, preferably inside. Damned cold.
A reward? That was new! Peeking inside the bag she plucked out a cookie and nommed on it. "Thanks! My name is Himari. Nice to meet you. Too bad it wasn't under better circumstances." Smiling kindly before shivering a bit she moved towards the mansion figuring that was that. Cutie saved, reward given, quest complete. She wasn't really great at making friends or hanging out even if she wanted too. Especially adorable bakers that were probably intimidated by her.

Himari was unusually grumpy compared to her normal calm and semi aloof self. The constant cold of New York was slowly starting to get to her. How in the kami were you supposed to wear nice outfits when you had to bundle up in layers just to feel some tiny semblance of comfortable. She had lived in a near tropical climate and this weather was just getting ooooold. So it was with this already grumpy condition she happened on Bell in her predicament. Affronted by bullies.
Himari hated bullies, and she realized recently she hated bullies, because her father was such a big one himself. If she could level up on the small fry, maybe one day she could confront her father and make him see reason. Until then... Three on one and the victim was clearly a more lithe individual. She may think of herself as a samurai at a times, but she was always a warrior, and warriors did what they needed to win. Like silently running just above the ground using her powers and landing a powerful hit into Bully A's kidney to get him to let go of their victim with a yell and fell to a knee clutching his side. Feeling particularly greedy and malevolent she continued on with the second one before the first hit the ground in pain.
Bully B caught a kick behind a knee as he turned flinging porcupine quills as he went down. Throwing her arm up to cover her vulnerable eyes she closed the remaining distance and ignored the irritating pain in her arm as her right elbow put his lights out. The last bullies hesitation cost him dearly as he foot caught him between the legs and a simple punch took him down as well. Bully A, not to be forgotten as he struggled to stand, got a controlled kick to the side of the head to temporarily ease his suffering.
At least she was finally warm! Plucking the quills out of her forearm she looked to Bell. "You alright?" Genuinely concerned for the individual even if her face wasn't the most emotive at the moment. She even felt less grumpy too! Too bad she couldn't punch the cold away..

An eyebrow quirked at her response as well as carefully keeping in check a retort about stuck up royalty or 'way to be a trope.' Currently the stuffy Princess, heh, was a patient and deserving of as much patience as she could muster. It didn't stop someone from imagining smother certain unnamed royalty with pillows did it?
"I see. My grandfather taught me very much about many things. I miss our time apart. We both share a love for nature and the outdoors." The fact everyone thought he was dead was everyone else's problem. Only her sister thought she wasn't crazy.
"We did not share names. My given name is Himari and my family name is Ishida. What would your royal highness' be?" Managing to keep most of her sarcasm from her tone as she said royal. Turning her attention back to her food for a moment before a more important thought bounced into her head.
"If you are royalty what are you doing here? Are you completing some duty that only you can do?" Showing far more interest in the princess herself as a person then as a patient then she had before.

How did one explain that as a girl she had the least girly childhood one could imagine while still desperately clinging and wanting to be feminine... all the while secretly loving the thrill and challenge of more muscle and agility based past times? In this case survival training with her grandfather. "Most anything dies if you cut their head off." She finally stated in a neutral tone.
"I believe most people are, deep down anyway. Some people just lose their way and end up hating everything around them." Shrugging and smiling at her.. well not friend yet, companion.
Of course then Aoi had to go and drop a bomb and Himari's eyebrows raise sky high and she blinked twice, clearly missing the fact it was a joke and interpreting it as nervous energy or something. A faint blush graced her face and she rubbed the back of her head some. "You'd be the first. Though this isn't a date it is a survival outing. Not that your not attractive in your own way. Not sure we'd really be compatible, not that we know each other much." Was that a easy let down? Was a let down needed? People were difficult. Hanging out by yourself was way easier!
"There is an old military saying that goes, if it is stupid, but it works it is not stupid after all." Hastily gripping onto the diversion away from the romantic awkwardness. Was that a four person ramen stand right there? She angled that way and picked up her pace a bit.

You certainly didnt hear poetry from a mass murderer everyday. It was almost infinitesimally small chance it was directed at yourself. Thank goodness she was wearing a mask to hide the blush. Some people! Not willing to let it distract her and sidestepping the inevitably spray of blood that followed the bisecting mutant hating mutants? Fights were for fighting not thinking. As emphasized by a helicopter crashing. Can anyone say collateral damage?
The car lurched and bucked and she lowered her center of gravity smoothly rolling with the concussive blasts as if they were waves on the ocean. Not bothering to respond to the death poetry killer as she lept to the next car and ran along its top towards the remaining trio. If she survived this was going to be one heck of a story to tell her grandfather!
It wasnt the easies thing in the world to run atop a train car top while it shimmied and shook with the air rushing frigidly passed. As she approached she realized one was drawing sigils in the air, the other two muttering furiously. One failed.. or seemed to as sparks crackled in the air obscuring her view of the other two. Her fox ears twitched at an unnatural sound and she twisted to the side and slid towards the ground as spinning blades whizzed by, one cliping her arm in a welter of red that would have to go untreated as she threw herself forward with clenched teeth and a renewed fury. The bamboo case crunching into the side of a knew and out of the grasp of the man in the middle to go tumbling off the edge her follow-up swing catching air as the remaining two vanished to the unknown.
She dropped between two cars to shelter herself somewhat from the wind, fox tail frazzled from the wind and irritation at being hurt and her new clothes already torn and bloodied. A decorative ribbon removed from her hair and bound tightly around the gash in her arm. Waiting for Aura to catch up before delving into the train cars themselves or going topside once again.

She would never admit it and was working hard not to show it, but Himari was thoroughly enjoying herself. She hadn't been aware or thought it was a tryout for the -men but here she was.
For a bunch of people she figured had never been in a real fight it was going well. In every other sense it was a total cluster chuck. Everyone had leaped into the fight and had not coordinated at all and know they were slowly all going down one by one.
Coughing out some of the phlegmy film that itched the back of her throat from the wretch inducing smell she responded to her sudden slime backpack. Awesome SLimes were coooooool. Shrugging at the apparent embarrassment of her partner. As soon as the girl was attached her powers popped back into place and she sprinted over where the zombies had been (and consequently the smell). "No time to be embarrassed in a fight. Going to try and occupy him so you can fling some of your slime into his face or yourself. Choke him out."
With basically just the two of them left it was up to the pair to make something happen! Simple strategies were the best ones and since her own eyes were watering it would have to be done fast. AS she dropped from the air powerless near Saph she old fashioned sprinted to meet the distance, a hand taking the last and largest bow from her hair with a hard tug converting it into a n impromptu soft weapon. Launching herself at Saph with seeming reckless abandon to quite literally tie up his hands or even better yet get him wrapped up at the elbows or around his neck. She wasn't too picky which depending on what opportunities presented itself, leaving it up to praxi to determine the best moment to fling herself off her back and into Saph.

She looked up from her meal of fish and rice as someone stumbled through the back doors. Pink eyebrow arching oddly at the torrent of what she had to guess were curses given the expectorant and emphatic way they were used. The horrible pronunciation of one Japanese one sealed the deal and hoped the fellow mutants language abilities were much better in English. At the moment she was doubtful.
Not wanting to waste her food she took a bite and waited for the excitable man to calm down. "Rough day? Sleeping inside is usually a better idea then sleeping outside." Noting the wings and almost elven appearance of Carrick. An interesting combination of physical features. She was thankful in human form she just had strange colored hair and eyes. Wings would be an awful impediment to her martial arts studies. Silently she gesture to some grilled fish with rice and sauce as he progressed further in. Hating the New York cold was one thing she could whole heartedly agree with.

The cars, busy streets pack with people, extremely rude people, constant threats and strange daily occurrences, those she could all live with. The cold though.. well she'd rather spend some time in gakido then have to keep enduring this norther climate! So she had been on the hunt for some warmer clothes and also attempting the impossibility of trying to find cute warm clothes made considerably more difficult by her minimal budget. Warm clothes tended to come in two flavors. Looks nice but not really warm, or warm and looks like something a construction worker would wear. Eventually she settled for some thermal leggings (cause, ugh, pants were not happening) a thick sweater and a purple faux fur lined coat.
The new warmth was much appreciated as she trudged down the cold street, a bit miffed her sister hadn't shown up to help. As a resounding explosion occurred nearby she shook her head and sighed, her knew clothes were going to get ruined she just knew it, breaking into a run that took her over the nearby buildings with her power. Slipping out of sight before donning her kabuki mask and letting her power fully flourish out. Her tail snapping into place behind her and the world seeming more whole as she did so. Tossing her backpack onto a nearby roof as she passed by keeping the long art tube with her.
Wit the boost of speed and cutting off the train as it rounded a bend she dropped behind some angry looking men facing off against.. ah crap. "So you guys need some backup?"
One of the men whirled stunned then screeched. "It's another one of those freaks!" Hmph rude! Before he could finish whatever his muttering was about she kicked him of the edge of the train and the whole situation devolved into a mess of close ranged combat and spells.

Himari realised that despite her nervous muttering, she adored seeing Celeste smile. It was a wonderful look on the starlit female and it made her stomach do funny things she didn't quite understand yet. Given how beautiful her new companion was her words were very surprising. Blinking a few times and managing to smile as the tail drew itself away from her face.
It was a small risk, but worth taking as she turned her hands so they could hold each others gently. Her thumbs moving the back of Celeste's hands as she touched her for the first time and marvelled at the feel both internally and externally. "I think I would like that very much then. So very okay." Her smile growing with each passing moment. Her far plainer amethyst eyes locke dinto Celeste's for a long moment as she enjoyed the simple span of time.
Then her stomach grumbled a bit and she giggled. "I will try to see if I can't unfox myself so we can get something to eat. I think that was what we were going to do next?" It already felt like hours ago and her poor heart couldn't handle much more of this in such a short span of time. Of course she was more than a little reluctant to let go of her new girlfriends hands, so she didn't right away.
Instead she closed her eyes and focus on breathing in a meditative manner, slow smooth breaths as she emptied her mind of as much as she could to get her wild emotions under control. A minor extraordinary feat considering the circumstances! Slowly her ears and tail would recede, her senses dulling to that of a mere normal human leaving her soul a bit sadder for it. She kept her eyes closed longer then she needed. The greedy fox enjoying the hand holding immensely and begrudgingly cracked her eyes open.
"So what sort of food do you like?" White teeth showing brilliantly as her face split into a broad grin.
