The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

When someone accused her of not knowing something it grated on her, immensely. Most inevitably stemming from her rather lackluster dedication to her scholastic studies. She loved studying! Just not on any of the subjects at school that people placed so much emphasis on. The urge to strangle the woman came and went yet again and took a slow breath to steady herself.
"English is not my first language so I doubt I could explain sufficiently for you, but just because a thing has monetary value does not automatically imply worth." It was a poor attempt to impart wisdom perhaps, but she tried. It wasn't her fault people fought over stupid things like money.
Her purple eyes blinked somewhat as the jade clinked to the ground, still half disbelieving.
"I didn't think the gifted could get colds." At least she couldn't remember ever having one.. and her sister was a cat so human afflictions didn't affect her. The intense scrutiny of her purple eyes landed on the large mug in the princess' hands. "Is that medicine then?" Genuinely curious what the woman had to drink. Most westerners made poor choices about beverages in general and that only got even worse when they were sick!

Himari had the newcomer precisely where she wanted him. Fighting a losing battle with himself and her a simple stand in. Her grandfather had taught her long ago that angry people were like flames. Without oxygen or fuel they burned themselves out. Later that day she learned about chokeholds as well, funny how that worked out.
So she would give the fellow teenager fuel and with oxygen and a bit of hope he would burn himself out and be more amicable to a real conversation. It wasn't entirely honest of her to go about without responding in English, but she hadnt said she couldn't speak it either. Assumptions were a terrible thing.
What were she did speak were truthful enough. She was sorry he had to be treated in this manner as well as a minor guilt towards her impish glee in the situation as well. Once she finished and set down the plate it was immaculate and if someone didn't know better had never been used at all. A satisfying grin broke her normal polite smile as she showed her abilities to Mason, dispassionate of whatever his reaction might be.
Be quiet but answer his question? Happily. Did she know aloneness? Himari could never recall feeling alone in a bad way per se. Her ancestors and the spirits watched over her even if she was without human or mutant company . She often sought such times when training. Could she understand such a soul crushing feeling of abandonment? In a way perhaps. In all it was far too complicated a question to answer without words so a sheepish smile replaced her polite as she shrugged elegantly and folded her hands on her lap.

When it came to decision making skills HImari would be the first to agree when it came to people outside her family she was of a rather poor level of in how to act in a manner people would come to expect of her. So she instead wrote her own rules, life was more fun that way wasn't it?
Her smile didn't even twitch as the man demonstrated his lack of knowledge of basic history. Himari didn't even pay attention in class and knew America was a land off immigrants of varying levels of English. An angry retort would have been.. very satisfying, but fleeting. The call of the kitsune was a flame tempered with martial discipline, but ingrained into her soul.
Instead that porcelain smile remained firmly in place, fork delicately cutting into the omelette with a precision that she only saw in her mind, then.. a horrendous screeching tone pierced through the sound of the TV faintly reminiscent of nails on a chalkboard mated with the mangle cry of some feline creature. Drawing it out the maximum length she could muster before the bite disappeared into her mouth. "Sorry." She uttered in broken English.. only to repeat the entire process over again.. finished with, once gain. "Sorry." Managing to sound absolutely sincere everytime she uttered those two syllables, again, and again. At least until the man inevitably reacted to her actions.

It had been a lovely brisk day for a jog starting from her shared apartment to the Mansion to work get the blood flowing from its nightly bout of unconsciousness. Even if it was Sunday the reason for her destination was food. The Mansion served free food to its students regardless if they lived there or not (or at least never turned away). Seeing as how no one had cause to speak to the apparently English lacking foreigner she didn't even have to excuse herself so she could go sit in the tv room.
She didn't expect it to be occupied with anyone paying the least bit of attention and bit down a sharp retort as some grumbled out a vain desire for privacy, in the mansion!, in a community area. In a farm more diplomatic and in character move she just sat gracefully down on an adjacent sofa with a polite smile plastered on her face. Her omelet drizzled in super spicy curry, a taste developed from her travels. A certain elegance as she used a fork to work off a piece and eating it before smiling more at Mason and gesturing to the TV to speak in horribly accented Japanese. "Is good?"
Noting that somehow the attack wasn't strong enough as the villain clambered from the crater and revealed a trap as the Hero landed and began monologuing.

Ugh. The woman didn't even seem to be the slightest bit concerned about anyone. Some of them were like little bearings rolling about and she could all too easily see one of the smaller residents not seeing one and do the splits or face plant somewhere. Which would be quite hilarious to someone deserving of such treatment, but not any old random person.
"Anything gained so easily is worthless." Very diplomatically she didn't add that the quality probably matched the source. It was entirely possible that some might be worth some coin to the right person, even something flawed. To her they were just pretty baubles and nothing more. Especially if they came from this sack of flesh vaguely resembling a person of whom her opinion was dropping into unseen territory. Of course she was quick to change opinions of people, but thus far redeeming qualities seemed in short supply.
"Is your whole body slowly turning into gemstones? Are you dying?" That thought struck her suddenly and it seemed possible. Anything was possible in mutation land why not a rebirth cycle of gems to human then back again?

Worthless as they probably were Himari would find some use for the shinies, perhaps have her sister embroider her up something nice or use some of the harder gemstones to make some sort of gemstone knuckle dusters. That would be awesome! She however shoved any elation at the free shinies down way deep as soon as the girl opposing her saw fit to say stupid anger inducing things. Westerners! Always leaving crap for others to pick up. In a horribly roundabout way she appreciated how her old school did things.
"Some people are taught to behave like proper people and pick up after themselves. Usually around the toddler stage you don't appear to have grown out of." An irritated sigh spewed forth as she spied more of the shinies on the ground. "Someone could hurt themselves! Why in the kami are you.. expelling them everywhere?!" Having to search for an appropriate word. The woman did look a bit worse for wear, but a cold hard disciplined fist gripped it in her chest and strangled it quietly.

Since it was the weekend she didn't have to be at the Mansion for any reason for herself. She had escorted her sister over for some reason she had already forgotten about in the grand scheme of things and set about exploring the marginally more quiet mansion for additional hidey holes to take naps when she was supposed to be in class. Not that she couldn't (and often did) nap in class. It was just nice to stretch out on occasion. Then a foot slid across the floor as it hit something smooth and backstopped off of it.
Blinking she peered down to see it had little twinkling brothers and sisters. They looked like gemstones, but they certainly couldn't be real could they? They were definitely a hazard for less athletic people, which by her standards meant almost everyone at the mansion! Procuring a broom secreted away to sweep up the non uniform tripping hazards. As she rounded a corner she blinked as she heard a sneeze with a pattering of gemstones hitting the floor. "Your just going to leave those lying around?!" She huffed out as her sweeping pace accelerated to catch up to Amethyst, pocketing the latest haul into her ever present backpack then moved to square off on Amethyst.
Her hands on her hips and (annoyingly as with most of the west), looked slightly up at Amethyst as she blocked her path. "Your leaving quite the obstacle course laying around for other people." Not even remotely considering that the woman might have seen her napping in class on many occasions or worse that she never seemed to speak English.

"Oh? In what way are we alike?" The smile on her face telling that she would find almost any response interesting. She didn't interact much with the other students of the mansion out of no real need to be social. Her communication skills were up to the task, but the desire was not there. "You think being home is trapped? Ah unless Japan isn't your home. Technically America is more of a second home. To be trapped among your own people what a shame." Voice oozing with sarcasm. Aoi seemed to be just a tad on the neurotic side and it was beginning to bug her more than a little.
She went on to sigh like she had to explain something rudimentary to a child. "Do not need a car if I use this." Tapping the side of her head in an exaggerated gesture. "I know a few of the family's banking numbers and codes. People who cling to technology tend to have poor memories I have noticed." A bit anachronistic of her to say, but most of her interests lie in more visceral pursuits and not glued to a phone or tv.
Finally something they could agree on. She gave a wordless assent to getting some food, nothing so undignified as a grunt but close. "PLenty of ways to leave a country without being tracked. Private or chartered flights or boats most easily come to mind. Stealing a plane would be the fastest way of getting home, but something tells me you would be opposed to that idea."

It took the short warrior a moment to think back through her sleep fuzzy brain to realise the fellow mutant had been pretty deferential about the entire incident. A situation that reminded her too much of a visiting cousin the family estate. Maybe even a bit awkward at having bumped into and almost tripping over someone audacious enough to sleep in a library. Suppressing another sigh she forced herself to relax. Who was she kidding, nothing interesting ever happened in libraries.
Turning her attention more fully on her awakener she giggled a bit at the self check she did. It was rather endearing somehow. As Celest spoke more she realized English was probably not the galaxy girl's first language either. That complicated things as Himari would rather avoid a misunderstanding with two poorly speaking individuals. Happy she was unhurt Himari replied with a brief even brighter smile. "Good." It was always hard to tell with mutants just how fragile they might be.
As she continued to watch Celeste's face and body language turn trepidation and worrying at her lip Himari giggled warmly and a soft "Kawaii." Slipped from her lips followed quickly by a blush that presented itself entirely too well on her pale features. Oops she hadn't meant to say that out loud at all! The more she tried to get rid of the blush she felt burning on her face the worse it seemed to get. Oh kami was she making the other girl nervous?
Books? Ah good books. Books were boring and non threatening to poor self abasing Japanese girls. Not her favorite subject, but today they turned saviour from her own sudden and unexpected inner turmoil. Her own English sharpened up considerably as she decided to try and salvage the situation with her inadvertent knowledge of the typical library filing system. Thanks nerdy sister! "It would be my honor to help. Just don't tell anyone I helped you with library stuff.. or that my English is actually good." Making sure her words weren't slow perse, but precise and easy to follow. Looking about a moment for any potential people who could overhear her not sounding like a really bad English speaking Japanese person reeling off movie quotes.
Ensuring she smiled brightly back at Celeste she bowed some then touched a hand to her chest. "I am Himari. You?" Ensuring introductions was key to being polite and she didn't want to bother explaining how Japanese names worked quite that moment. "The filing system should be similar to the Japanese one. I am not good with reading English, but the important part is the numbers." Moving to stand at Celeste's side so she could point them out. Her eyes glazing right off the English letters to the numbers. A finger touching on her chin as she thought back to what her brain regarded as discarded information to all the trips her sister made her do to libraries. "First one is section.. don't remember how each one is divided, but I am pretty sure there are 9 or 10. Then if I remember correctly each number after that divides it to be more and more specific." Pointing out the matching similarities between where she was at and the nearby books. "So if we just follow these along we should get to your first book eventually." Shyly shrugging and smiling as she didn't feel like that was much help at all.
"Ummm do you want me to tag along until we find them all? I am sure the both of us can figure it out." Speaking with a confidence she didn't feel at the moment. She just wanted the pretty girl to say yes so she could hang out with her more. She was the least likely guid in the entire school to be navigating a library. Himari wasn't sure to be grateful the galaxy woman hadn't heard of her and her reputation or not.

The library was often an escape. Even for Himari it provided a quiet sort of solitude. Though in her case it rarely had anything to do with the books and far more to do with the quiet. Her sister had no doubt gone off sticking her whiskers in all manner of interesting books and not feeling particularly explorative today Himari simply had gone into one of the most distant aisles of books, though not the last one after she discovered a pair of students engaged in very personal anatomy studies, and found a nice shelf to lean back against to take a nap. Given her own spreading reputation for a total disregard towards anything academic it was also the perfect place to hide.
Not that she had anything personal against books in particular. Just most were in English which she wasn't particularly good at reading and writing in. A vast amount also contained nothing of interest to her usual hyper-focused set of interests. That left the perpetual subdued tones the library one of the best places she had found on the Mansion grounds for a nap. At least until the wonderful abyss was interrupted.
She felt someone run into her solid body and violet eyes snapped open and muscles tensing briefly, ready for a fight until the.. walking galaxy spoke. Himari failed to fully suppress a shiver as she spotted a particularly dark patch of skin as she was reminded of her own powers. After the appraising up down her smile snapped into place on her face as she shrugged. "All good." She responded in her own heavily accented English, it was mostly faked of course, but she didn't trust anyone in the school enough to reveal that fact. It was easier to learn all sorts of interesting tidbits when people didn't think you understood what they were saying.
Himari made it a point not to stare since her own appearance typically drew eyes to her and knew how it felt. After a moment of consideration that her current hiding spot was ruined she stepped away from the shelves she was leaning on and stretched grandly, body shifting back into proper alignment with a series of pops and clicks and the girl looked ready to run an Olympian marathon. "You oks?" Or course given the giant stature of everyone outside Japan land was forced to look up at the woman to track her eyes. Inwardly chuckling at the fact that most people that ran into her usually felt it in the end, but with far more knuckles involved.
Stooping a moment to pick up the backpack and long tube-like art case at her feet and sling them over her back with a solid thump and taking a moment to adjust her uniform. True it was from her old school that she hadn't attended much, but it provided a level of familiarity that was welcome since she had come to America. "Need somethin'?" Glancing towards the paper in her hands. Maybe she was apart of one of the mansion groups looking for members or a survey. Ugh. Or even worse some sort of hall monitor tasked with tracking her absentee self for class. A slightly more scrutinizing gaze placed on the nebulas woman. Body tensing and ready to bolt.

At the sudden growth of hair Himari raised a brief eyebrow at the fellow student. Wondering briefly if she would get the divine pleasure of punching the goody two shoes in the face. Not at the moment it appeared and Himari wasn't about to say anything about uncontrollable hair growths in the middle of a city like Japan, or anywhere for that matter. She wasn't that rude.
The bookworm fired off a reply and she laughed in delight. "So you can speak without raising your hand first! That's wonderful. More Princess though less Queen." Grinning ear to ear at the revelation that Aoi could speak for herself was like finding money on the ground. Totally unexpected, but not overlooked. Quite the opposite of the effect her almost neon hair was having back amidst Japan's more conservative populace. Inwardly laughing at the fact everyone assumed she was a delinquent, however mostly correct that assumption was, and not an avid cosplayer of some obscure pink persona. She was aware of the looks and slightly widened space most people were giving the too, but completely ignoring it. Used to being the center of attention despite weather she wanted it or not she focused on more important things.
"Looks like it." It was good to be a fox amongst mice again. "Yeah a couple of times. We used to visit Tokyo on vacations and big shopping trips and the like." Clapping her hands together she started move. "Let's find a bathroom then a ramen shop! I haven't had a good bowl of noodles since I left. " A crime against humanity in her opinion if anyone ever bothered to ask her. "Er, well a bank before the ramen shop actually I guess!" At least with their 'delinquent' status most people would leave them alone. Except of course other delinquents looking to protect their turf. She wasn't certain how Aooi would react to a fight and she wasn't particularly keen to find out.

When one had to deal with extenuating circumstances they quickly shifted. The best part of the cafe in Himaris humble opinion was that it worked. Everytime. Unlike the one currently in her apartment that took a prayer to the ancestors, communing with the spirits, and a ritual to the devil. That was before the explosion of violence, pleading, and meticulous jiggling a bomb disposal expert would have been proud of. A situation the threatened to last several weeks before anyone would come fix barring divine intervention.
That wasn't to say there weren't other things she enjoyed at the cafe. It swept her up in the welcome nostalgia of all the best parts of home without the acidic aftertaste of actually being home. They also made a real proper tea fitting for a Japanese descendants and not the diabetes inducing over sugared mess most other places called tea. So when she bounced into the place and gave the owner a cheery wave and her signature dazzling smile all was good.
Until she stepped over. The threshols into the bathroom and bounced into someone's back rather solidly. Instinctively her hand snapped out to keep the person from getting knocked over as her other fist snapped up in a ready fighting positions. Her eyes quickly snapping to clear her field of vision for threats as she had been taught before relaxing and releasing the, after a more in depth look, girl she had gripped onto. "Sorry! Ended up somewhere I wasn't expecting." Stating in cheery and perfectly crisp Japanese. Taking in the details of her surroundi gs with and soft hmm sound before shrugging and looking more closely at the person she had run into. After a moment longer then it should have taken she lit up like a light with thought and smile. "Hey! Your that teacher's pet Koi-no Aoi right?!" A laugh bursting from her lips as she turned around. "Well isn't this interesting?"

Himari absolutely refrained from sighing in relief as her anxious sister was no longer digging into her shoulder. It would never cause lasting damage, but it was making an already unpleasant trip to a school far more so. Her ability to act like she hardly knew English also let her sister be the conversationalist and distract her from whatever new school jitters she was feeling. That and it meant less attention on her, winning all around!
As apart of the club of 'better things to do then go to school' she really didn't have any opinions or impression on the school she would end up skipping more often then not if she had her way. If movies and tv were anything to go by they should have been shot at on the way in. The fact that nothing of the sort happened was about all she needed for approval of the place.
She caught Saph appraising look as they shook, minding her hair with a little head toss, and grinned like the cheshire cat. Maybe he wanted to spar or better yet fight?! Nothing was better suited to escape reality then a good surge of adrenaline to feel alive! Filing the info away she took the rear of their little formation as she wasn't all that interested about school stuff. Even if the cool factor had gone up a bit with the fit and able security person.
She hoped she wouldn't get younger. Her life was complicated enough as it was. "Yes." Himari replied firmly with disdain clear in her voice, even her usually bright smile dimming considerably for a moment. Then after a blink it was like nothing was wrong.

A plain faced, almost ugly looking student rounded the corner in no particular hurry. Himari eeped at the sight of him, cause he wasn't hostile nothing to do with his face, and used a bit of her power to flip over and land on the other side of.. Mr. Calm.. yeah that is what she was going to call him in her head.. for now. Himari was amazed at how calm the boy looked. Granted she was relatively calm too despite the situation, but she was a fighter quite unlike most of the students in the mansion.
Alright Himari first impression time in the middle of a mini crisis. You got this. "Hi! I'm Himari you ok?" As was her usual manner making sure her English was heavily accented on purpose. She wasn't about to blow that cover quite yet! The student turned slowly to regard her with a blank face before nodding. Then that was it. Oooohk. She leaned in closer to the boy and gave him a brief sniff then realization dawned. He was made of earth materials! The face was an impressive mix of pigmented rocks that made him look almost normal. Speaking seemed to be a bit out of reach for him or he just wasn't in the mood too Himari figured. With a shrug. "Ret's go!"
The pace was slow as they made their way to somewhere within the maze. Rocky sort of shuffling along in no particular hurry. Then again she wasn't either. It seemed all the mutanty stuff was do- Then a rush of rustling limbs as the maze displayed its apparent anger. Followed by a rising low rumble, pinpointing the source coming towards her she tilted her head as a wave of foot tall gnome creatures made of plant materials charged at her. A slow heavy hand tapped her shoulder and moved in front of her and the wave of green crashed into the immovable rocky. Little leafy gnome hand scratching and attacking like a band of rabid piranhas to little effect.
Not to be outdone Himari started to smash the creatures apart into kindling with her skills. It seemed to take forever, but with effort they managed to beat down the green horde. Himari pausing a moment to give her companion a complementary "Hmph!" Flashing him a dazzling ear to ear smile before shrugging and continuing on to whatever the maze held next.

Himari was having the time of her life. A big grin plastered on her face as she outran, and sometimes dodged the suddenly enclosing mass of greenery as whoevers powers went wonky. The maze finally settled down some and she took stock of the situation. The tops had been sealed off, leaving the sun to feeble attempt to sift its way through giving everything a twilight feel. After a moment of looking around she shrugged and started walking to find her own way out of the maze. No skin off her nose if bully turned cry baby got himself stuck in the hedge maze for whatever length of time his freakout lasted. Using her own powers were out of the question as she wanted to keep hers a secret.
So it was now a grand game of escape the creepy hedge maze before someone could somehow remotely blame it on her. Even if she was pretty sure she could just say she was exploring and oh noes what a tragedy look what happened that poor kid. That only made her grin widen until a sudden rustling forced her to stop and ready herself. An unfriendly in this situation was going to get a flying knee kick to the face!
