The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Deirdra glanced back at Ahorta over her shoulder, hoping she wasn’t leaving out the other woman. Of course, she didn’t seem very interested in manners or what they were talking about. Ahorta seemed to like being alone and didn’t really appear to feel insulted. The blond looked forward again as she lead the new mutant toward the dining room. She stopped and hoped everyone else would stop too. Deirdra didn’t want everyone else to bump into her, though it wouldn’t have been too big of a deal.
The woman listened as Anthony asked questions and gave her some compliments on her mutation. Deirdra smiled and shrugged. “It is useful and I can change at will. If I’m stressed out enough or hurt, I change automatically. I suppose it’s just helpful that I can look human at all sometimes, though it doesn’t feel right to me.” She looked at the man. “I don’t know if that really makes any sense, but I just feel incomplete when I’m not in my scorpion form. Having more legs and a tail feels natural to me. As soon as I changed the first time, I was able to walk around as if I’d been like that my whole life.”
Taking a step into the dining room, she made a showy Vanna wave at the room and then gave a grin. He had asked Ahorta where we were, so the blond held the position and waited for the other woman to answer his question.

Deirdra had been lying in bed, sleeping for a few hours, when she sat straight up. Something inside her was letting her know she was done sleeping. She really wasn’t tired all of a sudden and so she uncovered herself and put her feet lightly on the floor. After a small stretch, the blond stood up and put on a pair of slippers. She ran her fingers through her golden hair and then made her way to her door. The woman opened it quietly and snuck out into the hallway. She wasn’t really sure where she wanted to go. Maybe to the recreation room and watch some TV? Yeah, that sounded like a good idea.
Somewhat quietly, Deirdra walked toward the Sanctuary’s recreation room. She had been in there a few times and knew exactly where she was going. The blond was wearing a large gray t-shirt that came to about half-way down her thighs. If she bent over, her underwear would probably show, but she wasn’t too worried about it. She had really great self-confidence, if someone wanted to refer to it as that.
The woman walked into the recreation room to see another young lady there watching the TV already. Or, more like she had been watching TV until something had made her angry. She let out a scream and put a pinkish blade into the couch. Deirdra’s eyes widened slightly in surprise and then she smirked. “Well, hello there. That’s an impressive power you have. Not only that, you’re quite beautiful. “The blond walked over and sat on the other side of the blade. “It’s nice to meet you. I’m Deirdra Sykes. I’m a scorpion mutant. Who, may I ask, are you?”

Though Deirdra wasn’t facing in the direction from which the assailant was coming, she had a feeling that something was approaching her quickly. She glanced over her shoulder in time to see a pink-haired young man running at her. He was holding a metal bar and the blond felt herself tense up in anticipation. Depending on where he struck her, she would be in quite a bit of pain. He had crouched lower to the ground, which made her guess it would be somewhere that wasn’t protected by her outershell. It looked like it would come at her back.
Knowing that if the kid had enough strength he could wreck her back completely, Deirdra began to turn her body around and bring her arms up. If one of her limbs was broken, at least she would have a chance to recover better than if her spine was snapped. The bar continued to travel towards her. She got her arms where she wanted them when the strike hit. In return, the woman whipped her tail around to smack him away. As her tail went around, she let out of shriek of pain. It felt like something shattered in her forearm.

Deirdra continued to look down and pretend to scribble things down as she felt Kaitlyn shift about by her feet. The blond acted as if she noticed nothing and only glanced up once when a man in a sweatshirt walked in. She gave him a quick smile and then went back to writing random things on her notepad. She really hoped that he didn’t try to talk to her and listened as the new-comer yelled at the man who sat on the ceiling.
She found the weird upside-down man pretty good at ignoring everything around him. Deirdra could only wish she was so oblivious to things. The blond would lose concentration easily if she was aggravated or something around her mad her really angry. The odd mutant definitely had determination and the scorpion-woman admired that.
All hopes of the man in the sweatshirt leaving or already having a room were dashed. He approached the desk and asked for somewhere to stay. The blond’s pen stopped moving instantly and she looked up to make eye contact. She felt Kaitlyn stop moving completely and Deirdra wondered what she should do. Maybe she should just tell him to come back another time? Or..? Or..or maybe she could get rid of him all together.
The blond set the pen down onto her notepad and batted her eyelashes at the man. “So..you have nowhere to go, hmm? I can’t exactly just get you a room. I’m not the boss around here, you see. It turns out she happens to be a bit busy today, but if you came by at a later date you might be able to catch her. As for where you can stay tonight, I happen to know that there’s a shelter a couple blocks away.” The woman extended her arm across the desk and pointed in the direction of the shelter. “I could even show you there, if you’d like. Unfortunately, I think we’re also pretty filled up. I wouldn’t count on any openings soon, even if you did come back.”

Right away, Ahorta’s paranoia came forward. She questioned the new arrival on why he would come to a place like this. The blond felt a light sigh escape her red lips. She thought the reasons a mutant would come to the Sanctuary were obvious, but decided she would let the man explain his reasons for himself. It wasn’t really Deirdra’s place to stick up for the stranger, though just knowing that he found her attractive did make her want to defend him a little bit more. The blond could be swayed easily, depending on the situation and if the person was a mutant.
Ahorta had stated that she would be around and therefore would be able to help with a tour. Deirdra plastered a smile on her face as she looked at the other young woman. It wasn’t that she had anything personal against the girl, there was just something about her that made her nervous. Nervousness wasn’t a new emotion to the blond, but it wasn’t usually so present around other mutants. She felt the least uncomfortable and worried when she was with other mutants. It was even better if she knew she was by herself. Out of all the people she had met, she herself was the only one she had deemed as trustworthy enough to trust.
She smiled at the man and placed her hand on top of his. “So, you said your name is Anthony, right? I always enjoy meeting a new mutant. The options for mutations never cease to amaze me. I hope I’m not being rude, but do any abilities come with this look of yours?” The woman was being polite and kept a sweet smile on her face. She didn’t mean to say he was weird looking, just implying that it was different. Deirdra had never seen a physical mutation that disgusted her, only intrigued.
He had complimented her on her beauty and she shook her head slightly. “I must admit, my more natural form isn’t as beautiful. Actually, most people that have seen it seem to be repulsed.” She began to lead him down one of the halls toward the dining room. “You see, the lower half of my body would prefer to look like a giant scorpion body. 8 legs, tail, stinger, carapace, and all. It feels much more normal to me than these human legs of mine.” She glanced down at her smooth, tan legs as she planted one of her high-heeled feet.

Deirdra raised an eyebrow as she pondered Kaitlyn’s plan. “Well, I suppose it couldn’t hurt to try. Though, if someone realizes what we’re up to, we could be in big trouble. Someone may know that only Lisa works the desk or may ask about Lori about me working the desk.” The blond glanced at the child and shrugged.
As the pair walked into the main area, a man was sitting upside down on the ceiling. Huh, well that’s something new that I’ve never seen before. They continued to make their way to the desk, but the scorpion-woman kept some of her attention on the odd man. She wasn’t sure what he was up to or if he was harmless, but she wasn’t willing to risk it.
The blond stepped up to the desk and glanced around before starting her adventure behind desk. She gestured for Kaitlyn to get behind and underneath it so she wouldn’t be seen. Since Deirdra had worked as a secretary, the first thing she did was grab a pen and something that looked like a chart. If she pretended to write, it may look less like she was doing something wrong and more like she was doing some sort of work.

Deirdra turned when she heard another voice join the conversation. The lack of emotion sounded a bit familiar. It was Ahorta. The blond recognized her from when she had played darts with Lenna and the girl. As before, she was wearing a facemask. Deirdra remembered how paranoid she had been and was a bit concerned that they were meeting again. Last time, Ahorta had accused Deirdra of hurting her. She attempted to explain herself, but didn’t get worked up when the odd girl didn’t believe her. It wasn’t a big deal to her whether or not people thought she was telling the truth or not.
The blond looked at the man who was covered in fur. It was an obvious mutation, but she wondered if any abilities came with all the hair and the pointy ears. She would ask later, depending on how long she stayed. The varieties of mutations were interesting, but usually she wasn’t all that impressed. Though she was curious about the newcomer. She guessed that it had to be different and be related to his rodent-like appearance. She looked at Ahorta and forced a smile on her face. “Wow, how are you? It’s been a while, hasn’t it?”
Deirdra noticed the new mutant look at her for a moment and she smirked. She loved when she got to see people’s reactions to her appearance. A lot of people could be pretty nonchalant, but sometimes the woman would come across someone who couldn’t keep their ogling a secret. It made her feel good about herself. If someone were to dive into her mind, they’d find out that it was the only thing she truly liked about herself and she felt it was the only way she could get people’s attention.
The man introduced himself as Anthony and looked very nervous. “No worries, we could probably give you a tour. Well, that is if Ahorta wants to come too.” She gave a smile to both mutants and placed a hand on her hip as she waited for some sort of answer.

The blond smiled as she walked along. She could feel the presence of the girl behind her. She seemed like a decently happy child. It was a bit odd to see, because she must’ve had a hard time considering she had come to the Sanctuary. Deirdra couldn’t imagine discovering a mutation at such a young age. She had been 13 when she discovered her own, and that seemed like an early age to her. At the time, the blond wasn’t ready to have something as big as a body-altering ability to pop into her life. Still, it had happened and she had made the decision to leave home. What’s done is done.
Deirdra listened, still looking around as Kaitlyn expressed her concern. “Hmm, that’s a good question. I suppose there are a few options. Maybe one of us can distract them as the other looks around.” The blond watched as the other mutants walked around, minding their own business. “Or maybe we can lie to them.” She smirked and turned to Kaitlyn. “We could tell them that something’s going on, so they should move elsewhere. What do you think?”

Deirdra stood in front of her mirror, fixing her long, blond hair into a bun with many bobby pins. After a few moments of shaking her head to see if any hair would fall out, she gave herself a quick smile. She intended to go look around the Sanctuary a little more. The woman hadn’t looked at too much, just the important rooms that would be almost impossible to avoid. She was wearing a red dress that came half-way down her thighs. There was a black sweater over it, paired with black heels, and silver hoop earrings. After all, Deirdra Sykes didn’t do anything without looking her best.
Now that she felt perfect, she opened her bedroom door and stepped into the hall. She turned back to the door to lock it, since she knew for a fact that some of the Sanctuary residents seemed to have sticky fingers, so to speak. She slipped the key to her door into a pocket in her sweater. Even if it fell out, she had enough bobby pins to pick open several doors. The woman smirked to herself at the realization. Lock picking hadn’t been in today’s plans, but if she happened to come across some door that she really wanted open, she could probably get it open.
Humming to herself and walking confidently down the hall, she turned a corner that lead towards the entrance way. The blond was intending on passing the door to get to the other side of the hallway, but stopped when she noticed someone in the doorway. They were just standing there, not seeming to know where they were or what they were doing. He almost looked nervous. One of her eyebrows arched up in question. She wondered if he was looking to stay in the Sanctuary, or if he was just looking for a particular resident.
Deirdra approached the man, who looked to be spacing out. She smirked and waved her manicured hand a few feet in front of his face. “Um, hi there. Are you looking for something in particular? I may be able to help. If you’re looking to stay here, I’d have to find someone with that authority, because, well, I don’t have it.” She smiled at the confused looking man and stuck out her hand. “I’m Deirdra Sykes. And you are?”

Deirdra stood in front of her full length mirror clad completely in black. She turned left and right, preening, trying to decide if she liked her appearance or not. It may only be a spy mission, but the woman never liked to be anywhere without looking as nice as possible. Even if she might only be seen by a young girl, there was still a chance that someone could stumble across them. Her top came to her midriff and was tight enough to show her slight curves. The black sweatpants she wore were clingy, but still easy to move around in. She had decided to go barefoot though, considering their object was to be sneaky. Heels were not sneaky, no matter how cute they were.
The blond had her hair pulled back into a ponytail to keep her line of vision clear. Deirdra was content until her bangs fell down into her eyes. She walked over to her top dresser drawer where she kept hair supplies and dug around until she found a bobby pin. Making her way back to the large mirror, she pinned her bangs back. They could be hard to tame, so she grabbed a bottle of hairspray and attacked it thoroughly. Once she was absolutely sure her hair wouldn’t interfere with their mission, she woman smiled happily to herself. “Ready. Man, why does looking good have to take so long?”
As she stood looking at all her hard work, she heard a knock at the door. She turned around quickly and walked to the entrance way to her room. She opened it and smiled at Kaitlyn. “Hey there. Good to see you. I hope finding my room was no problem.” The blond stepped out into the hallway and shut the door behind her. “Let’s see what we can find, shall we?” With that, the scorpion woman made her way towards where Lisa’s desk was. She hoped they’d find something. She didn’t want the girl to be disappointed. Deirdra glanced over her shoulder and smiled at Kaitlyn. Besides, she wouldn’t mind knowing someone else’s business anyway. She had always liked being well informed, it made it easier to predict people’s movements. After all, Deirdra Sykes did have trust issues.

Aura: Sounds like a plan. Do you wanna start a thread or should I? It could be in the Sanctuary somewhere.
Mongoose and Ahorta: That also sounds like a plan. So, Mongoose, you're just going to end up at the Sanctuary then? Is that what I'm getting? Do you want to start it then? And yes, Deirdra can pretty much be anywhere.

Hmm, I think either would work with me. Deirdra has gotten into trouble a few times, but has always managed to sneak off. lol...If you'd rather they just talk, that'd be cool with me too. What do you think?
