The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The girl-super hero, whatever, was blushing. Shay felt kind of odd, like an intruder. Which was strange, because technically Mirror was the intruder in Shay's apartment. But the shifting thing seemed kind of private. Shay's shifts were not remotely uncomfortable, it wasn't like they were... pleasurable or anything, but Shay had been dealing with it since birth and it was just so normal.
"I-uh-" Shay blinked. It was lame that powers could be no fun. "I'm sorry, that's kind of lame." Shay was suddenly very glad for the way that their own power worked, people were always kind of wowed by the way it worked, or didn't believe Shay.
The disbelief did sort of bring a smile to Shay's lips. "I know right? What're the odds that you randomly fall into my apartment and we can both do that." Shay pondered Mirror's power for a moment. "So I take it you don't have any control over..." She murmured and tried to summon some words for a moment, floundering. "I mean, how you look when you change, if it happens every day?" Shay was fiddling with their fingers, just behind their back, resisting the urge to pull up the customisation menu.

Shay blinked slowly and timidly moved over to the side, away from the front door "A-are you okay?" Shay's jaw fell open pretty wide as Mirror transformed over the course of the next minute. "Uhm. Okay. So you weren't messing with me" Shay muttered mostly to themself idly. It definitely looked very different to Shay's transformations.
"I-look" Shay approached a bit closer, completely forgetting the social situation for a moment, and all the awkwardness, mildly in awe. "Don't apologise, seriously it's fine. That didn't look fun." Shay blinked, realising they could probably set this situation at ease pretty easily.
"I-Er, I'm a shape shifter, so please don't worry, I change a couple of times a day sometimes, it's not freaky or anything to me." Shay admitted, suppressing the urge to bring up the character editor and start fiddling.

Shay blinked slowly. Why was midnight bad? Well, other than for kids, and people that got up early for work, any people that had somewhere to be shortly after midnight, and people that worked nights. Okay, Shay could maybe see why unexpected midnight might provoke a harsh reaction.
... What.
"Er-I-" Shay blinked slowly. "Are-are you messing with me?" Shay asked, raising an eyebrow. That was very weird. Had Mirror been sent here by someone to mess with Shay?

Shay nodded quickly, being a streamer with an open power was good for some reasons, but it did also leave you open and viable to trolling from the chat... so much trolling. "A lot of er... Inappropriate questions too." Why did people always get sexual when it was involved.
Suddenly Gawain seemed uncomfortable. What had Shay said wrong? They didn't step into any obvious taboo topics. This was part of why Shay dreaded socialising, they never knew when t hey were about to say the completely wrong thing and make every on in the room uncomfortable. It was too easy.
Time? Shay glanced around, not having realised how dark it was while they were engrossed, the light of the T.V and the sewing light having been all they really needed. "I.." Shay pondered for a moment.
"I've watched like, 6 episodes and I finished stream around 10, so... 12ish?" Oops. Time really got away from you.

Shay slowly edged just a little closer while they spoke. "Ok. S-sorry for freaking out like that." Shay definitely felt embarrassed for the freak-out. Social anxiety was bad enough to deal with normally, this situation was just something else. Maybe it would help Shay next time they were feeling overwhelmed in public.
A timid smile crept onto Shay's lips. "I've never thought of it that way, I pay a lot of attention to the costumes too." She gestured to the mostly done costume on the table with the sewing supplies. Power questions were weird. "I've heard all kinds of weird power questions, I think I get it." Shay blurted.

Very slowly the adrenaline ebbed away and Shay's heartbeat came back down to what was nearly an acceptable level. Clearly Shay was in no danger, and while this was awkward and embarrassing, it was clearly some of those things for Gawain too. "It's um..." Well it wasn't really okay, but it wasn't really like it was Mirror's fault either, was it? They'd made it pretty clear it wasn't something that was done intentionally.
"I-I mean you said you didn't mean to..." Shay cleared their throat again, still maintaining a fair distance, but not running away any more.
"Is it um, weird being in an anime like that?" Shay asked. Shay got power questions all the time, people always wanted to know weird things, and did appreciate they could be awkward. "Er... Sorry if power questions are weird."

X-men? Right. Shay had heard about them, read about them even, but Shay wasn't really so much a real world person. They liked heroes, but generally the ones found on pages of comics, inside of video games, and other areas of fiction. The real world could be very scary at times, and Shay was definitely glad that there were actual super heroes out there, making a difference but still.
"O-oh. Okay." That explained the lack of uniform. What an interesting power! "I-Er-" Shay took a moment to steady themselves, not having released they were leaning against a cupboard near the door.

He seemed... Apologetic. He definitely wasn't coming and closer to Shay, and if he was here to murder Shay or something that probably would have happened by now. Into mirrors and stuff? That was... Oh! Mutant power, duh.
A little gear did click in the back of Shay's mind that their own mannerisms and power might seem strange to some people, or get confused or intimidated. "I-eh-" Shay gulped and edged a little further back. "M-Mirror sounds familiar." Shay admitted, but wasn't sure where it was from.
Shay's apartment for the most part was fairly well kept, there were definitely areas of mess, but most of it was actually clean, their stream set up was visible in one corner, and any area of the room where the camera would have a view on were pretty clean. The pizza boxes were also most definitely out of view.

Did Teleporters do this regularly?? Like, did they appear in people's apartments often? What if like, they were assassins and just murdered you without anyone ever finding out? Is that why Shay had never heard of this? Barely conscious of what the man was saying Shay edged closer to the door, not even thinking about the social fo-par of running around outside in a fox onesie.
"I-teleport?" He was visibly shaking. Going outside and being sociable was bad enough, Shay absolutely did not need a live reenactment of the ring in his living room.

Shay had definitely been through some strange experiences over the years. Particularly being a pro-gamer led to some interesting stories, especially when you were living in a house with your team and spending every day with them. Strange habits were weird, and parties had occasionally led to interesting stories. But it felt like the last few months, living in New York, everything was just dialed up to 11 on the weird-o-meter.
Never, in their life did Shay expect someone to fall out of the T.V.
"I-W-Wha-" Shay backed up rapidly, looking around frantically for their phone.
Did you call the police in this situation, run out the front door or like, just lock yourself in the bathroom? Spotting the phone, it was behind the man that had just landed on Shay's coffee table.
When invited to a party charity event thing to help raise awareness and support for people that had become victims of this de-aging problem, by a newly de-aged new friend, Shay would typically spend a lot of time debating on whether or not to actually go, trying to find excuses not to do this social thing, and avoiding them people talking them into it. But it was Nessa that had asked.
Normally, if Shay was to go to one of these things and it wasn't an official team event or something, they would totally go incognito, doing a fresh character edit before coming, so as to not attract any unwanted attention. But Nessa had suggested to Shay, and on the slim off chance that Nessa actually wanted to chat, Shay would need to be recognisable.
It was after all, totally Shay's fault Nessa got de-aged to begin with. They could deal with a little social anxiety and stress. Besides, it wasn't like Shay got to wear bikinis outside of shoots all that often!
So here Shay was, in a easily recognisable face, milling around the room after getting in with some stammering to the event staff, Shay glanced around awkwardly for a face she knew. There were a serious number of people here, definitely a mixture of age groups. One benefit was picking from the large assortment of outfits for a nice swimsuit to wear to the event. Shay ambled around and found themselves standing awkwardly near one of the tubs, just dipping her toes in and wondering how to start a conversation.
"OMG! ShadyShay?" A fangirl exclaimed.
Oh dear god. "Uh-Er-hi" Shay glanced around, looking for help. What was a fan doing at an event like this? What were the odds?

Shay was trying hard not to out panic the person with much more legitimate reason to freak out, and failing. Shay tried for a moment to imagine how they would feel in Vanessa's shoes, and awkward came to mind, but that was nothing new. But also they wouldn't know who or what to trust. Luckily, Vanessa had a really useful power for verifying whether or not people were trust worthy.
"I-uh. Look." Shay took a breath. "I assume you know how your power works? Use it on me, you'll know I'm telling the truth, and you can trust me." Shay stammered quickly, forcing themselves to look Vanessa in the eyes.
After a few moments Shay nodded. "o-of course I'll help you." Shay would have tons of time to feel guilty about this whole thing later, the priority was making sure that Vanessa was safe and secure first.

Gears slowly shifted into place in Shay's brain, she looked younger. She didn't know where she was, she was referencing old roommates, something horrible had happened. Shay had let something horrible happen to a new friend, not even an hour after meeting them. Why did they ever even go outside?
"You-I-" Trying to find the words to explain what exactly had happened was much harder than Shay could manage easily. "I-I don't think your roommate is here no."
The confused comments made Shay feel even more lost and scared in the situation. "I-sorry- I'm Shay." Shay took a moment to exhale and try to piece thoughts together without screaming. "This-I don't..." What the fuck, how did you even explain this? "This sounds uhm, well weird, but I met you earlier. You-"
Shay felt like they were floundering and pulled out their own phone, pulling up a calendar "It's 2020, something has happened. You are y-younger than you were." it sounded so crazy.

Shay stared slightly dumbfounded for a few moments. Nope this was definitely not something that normally happened, did they have cursed discs or something? This was like something out of one of those 90's VHS horror movies. Freaky. And They were definitely bleeding.
Shay was leaning forwards in their seat, kind of captivated and terrified by whatever the hell was going on. When the new figure on the screen yelled something about turning off the T.V Shay yelped and practically fell over. Scrambling for the remote Shay probably hit a few other buttons before hitting the power button.
It was as much that when a commanding or strained voice shouted something at you, you listened, as well as just being generally freaked out by whatever was going on. Shay definitely didn't want to get cursed or anything.

Shay blinked slowly as Vanessa slowly rose, making sure to give the other woman a gentle hand up. Something was off though... Something more than just her being on the floor. When Vanessa spoke something felt even further awry, the voice was higher than normal, as if a little strained? Shay helped Vanessa gently all the way to her feet and then took her in properly. She... She was different, physically.
Younger perhaps? "W-wha-" What the fuck? This is why you don't go to social events, Shay.
"V-vanessa? You don't remember me? Y-you look-" Gulp. "Do-ar-ah-" Words. Use em. Clearing her throat thoroughly. "Sorry. What's the last thing you remember?" Internal screaming was off the charts on this one. Oh yup.
