The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Shay stood awkwardly near the bathroom, basically twiddling her thumbs waiting for Nessa to return. Frequently thinking thoughts like "Why am I here?" and "You're gonna say the wrong thing, just leave." whilst feeling a steadily building stream of anxiety while out in the open, waiting for her new friend. It was strange, they'd felt completely okay and not overwhelmed earlier while they were incognito, but now that Nessa knew who Shay was everything was much more... real.
A minute or two passed and Shay nearly got ran into by a hooded figure tumbling out of the bathroom and nearly jumped out of her skin, taking a minute or two to calm down before realising Nessa hadn't come out, and recalling the haste with which that figure had left the bathroom, Shay pushed their way inside and gasped, seeing Vanessa down on the tiles.
Shay ran right over "Nessa! Nessa!" Shay gently placed an arm on the woman's shoulder "Are you okay, can you hear me?" panic strained Shay's voice.

Dwelling on it, Shay could clearly see how some of their shoots had been seen as so lewd, at the time they were doing them it wasn't really the intention to inspire lust. Okay, maybe a little bit. Shay had never viewed it in that sort of way though, Shay loved attractive bodies, and liked to share them. They really appreciated photography. IT wasn't like they'd ever gone R rated or anything, they kept it relatively tasteful.. right?
"A-ah." Shay nodded. Teasing. Duh. "I-Er-yea-" Clearing their throat for the millionth time Shay squeezed out a reply. "I would love to spend more time with you." Nessa was really just so nice, the confidence was awesome. She was beautiful too, which helped.
Shay nodded slowly. "Sure, that's no problem." She smiled gently. "See, part of why I don't go with my standard bodies when I'm at cons." They'd made that mistake only once, never again. Party? Shay twiddled her thumbs a little and looked at the ground. "Uhm. Okay. That sounds okay." Party sounded like a whole load of social activity, hopefully the rest of this day could remain stress free so Shay wasn't too wound up come time for the event.

Shay rubbed the back of her head unconciously. It was odd, she didn't talk about this stuff online all that much. "They've been pretty supportive actually, I think me still having some branding around strengthens their brand maybe?" Shay did have more viewers than any individual streamer under the banner, and it was a fairly decent margain. She kind of brought something unique to the table. More blushing. "Sp-spicy?" That was... one way to describe it.
Were Shay's photoshoots really out there? Really lewd? Were they?
Dear lord, why had Shay responded like that? They should have dodged the question, they did it on stream all the time. Her chat spent a huge amount of time prodding her to get blushes out of her (and normally succeeded) "I-you-g-" Shay's cheeks were hitting crimson, a person or two noticed and pointed at the clearly flustered cute cosplayer walking with a known streaming personality.

Shay nodded slowly, watching Nessa curiously as she explained what her experience joining had been like. It made sense, things were more often than not the most intimidating while they were inside your head. "I-I guess I kinda got lucky." Shay murmured quietly "I sort of cheated in through the team." Pros were encouraged to stream, and Shay had bounced around a few games already so quickly built up a following. As they had grown in confidence it became very obvious that people were interested in Shay, not so much the brand. Luckily, having good Coaches and Captains made things easier, they pointed out the obvious social cues that Shay was missing. Shay might have gotten into streaming through a team, but they definitely built their own brand. Definitely a market for an awkward shape shifter that was genuinely good at stuff.
"I'm not that good..." Cheeks were burning once again as they slowly made their way out of the room.
Shay was glad for the change of topic, shaking her head quickly. "I-er-no. I mean-I don't... I'm not-" Shay cleared her throat. "I'm single." The words came out quieter than intended, but definitely still came out of her lips regardless. Baby steps.

Shay blushed pretty deeply, that was the sort of comment or compliment that really got to them. "I think that about people all the time, I've kind of been a-afraid of messaging pow block party and asking about doing a colab or something forever..." She admitted, determined to not actually glance over at her new friend.
Shay chuckled a little. The notion of a significant other was really interesting to Shay, she'd often wondered what it would be like to have a boyfriend or girlfriend. It was odd, Shay found all sorts of people attractive, and while they tended to lean on girls being more aesthetically pleasing, they wondered if being in a relationship was a different ballgame all together. How would a partner feel if they saw the sorts of cosplay Shay adopted, and even wore in public, at conventions? "I can't imagine that situation."
Shay blushed again at the direct social contact and averted her gaze. "I'm r-really not that good, you could totally find someone better at teaching you. Fighters aren't really my forte." She murmured sheepishly.
Walking sounded good. Slightly less onlookers maybe? "Uh-erm-" Shay glanced around, up at the ceiling, down at the floor and then the thoughts formed actual words. "Sure."

Now that they were getting into the thick of it, and Shay's nerves had settled a bit she was starting to feel a little more comfortable in general. this really wasn't that scary, Nessa wasn't going to judge Shay for feeling awkward. And playing games with people was something Shay had done for the longest time anyway, particularly competitively.
Shay might not have had the sense to bait, or the psychological component of fighting games down, but they definitely could handle mechanics. Combos were something you could practice on your own, and labing tech on stream was something that Shadyshay's audience had taken quite well to.
And so a slight grin bloomed on Shay's lips, as they interrupted Vanessa's comment with a stylish combo into a rest, taking the lead in stocks. It felt good, Shay loved playing silly characters like floofloon, especially considering people constantly underestimated them.
The grin wavered for a moment before Shay moved back a little to gain space and then turned in real life and smiled. "If you've seen my channel or gram, you know what I've dressed up like, topless doesn't bother me~" as if to punctuate the unusually confident retort, floofloon landed a solid blow.

Shay had of course always thought about gender in a different way to most of their peers, and as it had turned out they'd probably be considered gender fluid, but Shay never really paid that much attention to it truth be told. Most people they'd found discussing these things online didn't literally have total autonomy over their physical characteristics.
In some ways you could argue that those people just couldn't understand Shay's views on it, because they didn't view the world through the same lense.
Shay nodded quickly at the playful poking, trying to force some more speech out. She looked down a, the glances were making it harder to do the words. "I do love it. I like doing it online a lot too, the social distance makes things much less difficult. And It's nice to get compliments on how you look." She admitted, unashamed.
It was nice to agree with comments that your rear was looking glorious when you posted some shoot pics.
Shay's lips twisted a little, risking another glance over at Nessa with still slightly burning cheeks. "I get it." Shay used that sort of humour sometimes, to explain or move past the social awkwardness.
"I-I know." God, it was so embarrassingly obvious. Shay nodded and quietly added. "All kinds of people are beautiful." the floofloon play was definitely improving somewhat.
Shay hummed to themself as they gently worked threads through in a cross stitch pattern, it was under a fairly well hidden fold so it wouldn't be obvious by the time that the costume was done. Shay had gotten fairly good at hand stitching over time, they could totally do things by machine too, but it was more satisfying and precise for things like this to do it by hand.
Besides, they'd already done a morning stream, it was a good way to pass the time and settle their nerves.
They'd watched through the series once already so they kind of knew what was going on in any given episode, it was just kind of useful to have it on in the background while working on the costume.
They blinked and slowly looked up when they heard the scene shift, not remembering these events.
... That was a new person. Then they cursed! Shay also cursed, but because the needle pierced their finger lightly, drawing a little blood. "What the F-"

Shay had spotted a few interesting cosplays so far, and a few more lack luster ones. Basic Hero of time costumes, really? But then there were some pretty intricate space marines going on, and some other similar things. Shay spent more time than they probably should appreciating other people's cosplay. There was of course, a number of nerdier people that complimented Shay's own cosplay. He was pretty proud of this one.
Shay had noticed the princess of swords cosplay before the person even got near them. Of course they had, you couldn't play a series for some 15 years, go professional and own a bunch of merch without being able to spot a top tier cosplay in a crowd. Of course He had also noticed that the person in the costume was quite... Forwards.
It was a little out of place, most cosplays weren't very forwards, especially not physically.. active. And even then, some of the ones that were just turned out to be creepers or perverts. Shay wasn't getting that vibe though.
The greeting did catch them a little off guard. "Well hello there." Shay forced a smirk onto his own face. Staying in character was hard. So hard. Ughhh. "I did. Yours is awesome!" Aaaaand there it went. "I mean, thank you! Er-Uh- Did you make your own?"

Shay smiled. It was interesting chatting with this person, the awkwardness that had initially been fairly mutual was starting to slowly melt away. Okay, awkwardness was usually more an Shay's part than the other interested party, but whatever. "It is so much fun! Lots of people say that to me when they're getting into it, especially girls that are interested in getting into it, they're like afraid to put themselves out there, you know?" Female cosplay tended to track a little more on the risque side of things.
"I've never found it that bad. People aren't talking to you that much, it's mostly just throwaway compliments, pictures and stuff." Shay did competitions, which was always fun. Not so much of the talking stuff going on. Shay absolutely didn't mind being oogled by people either, they spent a lot of time crafting attractive looks after all.
"Uhm. Well. Some of it is from this old anime, Mariner Sky? And I'm slowly building a few video game related ones, I do most of the work on them myself. But if you're interested in getting into it, I know a few people that take reasonably priced commissions, that's how I started before I got into making my own." Shay had done that for a bit, then realised it was more economical to just get good at crafting. Turned out to be fun and soothing too.

Tobias Finch was a fairly famous, highly eccentric nerd slash collector that was rumoured to have so many things that Shay would find all kinds of cool. He was also, obscenely, hilariously rich. And for some reason he had hired out a whole warehouse at a convention centre privately and was hosting a bunch of events, an auction and a couple of competitions. There was a cosplay competition, an Ultra Fight Siblings tournament and some other similar little events.
The auction seemed to have a bunch of rare and expensive things up for grabs, some collectors edition games, some replica weapons from various media, a piano from some famous horror movie Shay had never actually watched. And some other cool stuff.
Shay had heard rumours of it, and shaken down a bunch of friends in the fidget.tv community trying to find a ticket, and had eventually resorted to sending an email to Tobias' office, which actually got a reply! It was probably their following, but they acquired one! And they were so down for the event, so excited. It was like a con, but a super secret high society con!
Shay would of course be entering the Cosplay competition with a costume that'd been wanting to try out forever. And they would definitely be entering the competition for that awesome Mega Road Battler cabinet, arcade cabinets were actually the coolest old thing in existence. That was like, a fact. Maybe Shay would even hang around the auction, and see if anything cool was in their price range.
Shay's apartment was a few steps better than modest. Truth be told, if you just glanced at the living room and kitchen and then read the price tag on the apartment, you'd think that Shay was being scammed. But almost all of the extra price was storage space, and a sizeable walk in closet. Shay had more clothes than most people owned in their entire lives, that tended to happen when you could change shapes and genders basically on a whim, you ended up needing a lot of clothing. This was further compounded by one of Shay's professions requiring new clothes all the time.
One method of circumventing some of the cost that naturally came with doing a lot of cosplay, was to get good at making your own costumes. Something Shay had really taken to. So Shay was sitting, with a very old anime about magical girls blasting on one of their large T.V in the centre of the living room, sat cross legged in one of their three favourite forms in front of it. Shay today was a fairly androgynous looking Male, wearing a fox onesie and pyjamas, a whole set of materials and knitting tools on the table in front of him.
He hummed quietly, slowly working on one of the outfits from the show in front of him, it was about half way done, but clearly identifiable as one of the magical girl outfits.

Shay leaned forwards and raised her eyebrows slightly. Psychology and video games going together was a very interesting topic of conversation, Shay herself wasn't really any good or all that knowledgeable about Psychology, she'd not gone to college either, hadn't even gone to high school really. "Me either." The study Shay'd taken part in was all organised through the team.
Shay tried to suppress the immediate smile that came to mind on the comments of rabbits jumping into the air and obviously failed, this person seemed really nice though. And he really was very cute.
"You do?!" Shay's awkwardness was melting away a little now. "I do it all the time, semi-professionally" She admitted with a little blush. "I know right?! I sew a lot of my own stuff, build a lot of the chunkier components too! As a matter of act I'm working on two right now." And had about a million more in their apartment closet. Because of course Shay did.

Shay micro shrugged. It was kind of hard to put into words actually, Shay just wasn't a very socially strong person. "Kind of? I don't mind people looking at me, I don't even mind getting like, well-er. I mean. Getting checked out is okay." Shay appreciated aesthetic just as much as the next person, maybe more in some cases. It wasn't really part of their issues.
Shay actually smiled a little more. "It's good to know you appreciate them. I try to go for sexy, it's much easier when you can just cheat." She admitted. Her customisation was just the coolest, she never ever got tired of it. Except when those pesky tattoo desires crept up. Then there was a little bit of frustration that crept through.
Shay nodded. "I think about it a lot actually." Gender was complicated. "'Cause of my power I've basically always been like this, and my parents have been cool with it." Which definitely helped, Shay had picked up on a few horror stories particularly from trans friends. It wasn't really like Shay's parents had time to form ideas about Shay though, the shape shifts were happening before Shay was even born.
Shay shielded the fireball and was immediately about to feign and approach and start floofloon's annoying jump pressure before Nessa asked a question. The big question. Okay, they were all big questions. Situations like this were always scary, when you brought crushes in to the mix they got so much worse. Obviously Shay's crushes typically went beyond just the physical, as had Shay's with Nessa. Nessa was pretty, true. But it was her outgoing personality at a time when Shay was struggling to find a voice outside of their team houses that really captivated Shay.
Shay very quickly lost a stock. Floofloon's movement became predictable and sluggish and they got failed an air recovery. 2 left, they could do this. If they could stop thinking awkward thoughts. Sure. "I-uh-ye-hm-" Shay's sounds were coming out a little more incoherent. They needed to pull themselves together.

Shay grinned a little more readily. Great, another nerd kind of made everything a little better. "Oh! That's very interesting! I took part in some studies a few years ago about reaction time." Shay was of course not a typical case study for that sort of thing anyway, being a pro gamer meant that they had much higher than average reaction times to begin with.
Shay was definitely down to nerd out about her power with someone. Always. "It's not really! I mean, I guess I sort of like grew up with it? Kinda! Well, I grew up with it as long as I can remember, and I shape shifted as a baby. I don't know if the UI was the same though! Some people have said it probably looks like this, because that's how my brain works?"
Shay glanced around at the magical girl volumes visible, and then caught onto the one that Zaid was talking about. She squinted at the design of the main character. She totally had seen pictures of this one online! "Oooh! I love the coat. I could probably swing that. He looks like a relatively normal human shape too." She chirped excitedly.
