The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Across New York City, citizens had been waking up to find that the world was not as they had remembered it. They were as they remembered but months, years, or even decades had passed them by. Except, it was not the world that had changed. It was them. Somehow the unlucky, or lucky depending on your perspective, had lost years of their life as they had reverted to a previous point in their life. They had somehow been deaged.
The community was in need and that was where Haven shined.
As reports of people being deaged continued to happen over time, it was clear it was not an isolated issue. The more time that passed the more people would find themselves as a younger self. Some were lucky to have access to resources or to have only lost a small amount of time where they could still function. Some were not so lucky. Haven decided that a fundraiser should be thrown to build a fund that could be used to help those who were deaged. The fund would help provide necessities, provide for education and job training, locate family, and handle other expenses that the victims of the deaging likely couldn’t. It was all HR's suggestion, and they knew what they were about. Haven had an opportunity to help, and help on a large scale.
Unfortunately, at least as far as Svetlana, Haven's acting leader was concerned, the concept of HR had been created in Hell.
Someone in HR was a fan of 2010 comedies. They suggested throwing “Hadden’s Havens Hot Tub Time Machine Fundraiser for the De-Aged of New York”... Or as the radio stations were calling it now, “Hot Tub Time Machine Party 2020!”
F*** me.
At this point, Sveta was just going with the flow.
A large room at Haven had been refitted for the event. As the main attraction, lines of hot tubs had been set into the floor. Beyond that, there was the usual party affair. Speakers spaced perfectly to provide party music from the last few decades. It would give everyone a chance to hear music from a time they were familiar with. The party was to benefit the deaged. Music from the last couple years was struck from the DJs playlist for the evening. Drinks were provided, but IDs were being checked. Because the party was open to those who in their deaged self were fifteen years of age or over, only beer and wine were to be served. However, some whiskey did manage to find its way to the bars and was being served to those who knew the right key phrases. Much of the lighting was provided by candles to create the right atmosphere.
There was a silent auction that ran along the edge of the room. Everything one could imagine was on auction. Items of various value, trips, time with individuals, training, and so much more. If someone could auction it, and it wasn’t a crime to do so, it was on auction. A live auction was also planned as well as various other events throughout the night.
Sveta made the rounds to check that everything was ready before the door opened. Now, she was standing back, preferring to observe from afar. De-aged or not, Haven was about to mix teenagers, hot tubs, and alcohol.
God help us all.

Ranger had yet to set foot in any of Haven’s properties since returning to New York City. This meant it took Ranger longer than it should have to find the way to the hall leading to the party. Blackforest Tactical, as the company who was contracted to provide all of Haven’s security, was on site and Ranger was there partially in that capacity.
Ranger was also because SUPER had an interest in what was causing all the deaging in the city. The thought was that with so many deaged people in one place, Ranger might be able to learn something or someone might make a move against those who had been deaged.
And finally, Ranger was there because Ranger’s old handler from before the deaging had tasked Ranger and Noel with spying on Haven from the inside. It turned out that the mission was secret enough that no official record of it had been made at SUPER. Ranger was told to go and see if anyone would make contact. Perhaps the old handler would reveal themselves.
All were excellent reasons to attend the party. Yet,there was one reason Ranger was not keen on attending the party.
It was Saturday night and one week ago Ranger had been at a wedding with Noel. During the wedding they had swapped bodies. With the one temporary exception, they had been unable to reverse the swap. As a result, Ranger was attending the party in Noel’s body.
As she entered, Ranger scanned across the space and saw one face she recognized. She had never met the woman, but she had files on her. Svetlana Sergeyeva, one of the leaders of Haven. Someone who Noel would have known before deaging. The question was did they know each other ten years ago? Ranger diverted to avoid a possible confrontation for at least a few more minutes. Maybe at least until she could find Noel and ask. Noel should be on site… somewhere. As she was posing as Ranger, head of security, he needed to be on site much earlier that day. He might be at the party already… Or he was dealing with the pair of bearlike dogs they had. Some place called CLASS had been where they kept them during prolonged trips away from their apartments. Both then and now.
There were changing rooms and lockers that had been installed near the entrance. The BlacTac employee at the door waved Ranger through without checking her ID. The employee recognized the body Ranger was in as old enough. Ranger made her way to the changing room and removed the tank top, cowboy boots, and jeans she was wearing. She stuffed all that, plus the small pistol she had been wearing in her waistband, into one of the lockers and stepped out of the changing room wearing just a bikini. A bikini with a space cat holding pizza. Ranger felt it was highly ridiculous and almost regretted letting Noel have the final say on what bikini Ranger would be wearing in Noel’s body… But it was Noel’s body and Ranger was pretending to be her. If that’s what Noel would have worn and been fine with it than that’s what Ranger would wear and just be fine with it.
A little bird had left a message for him in his apartment mailbox. That message had said everything he would need to know about the “hot tub” party Haven was hosting.
Ashton has no clue what Haven was. At the time. Later, he learned. Some group that focused on helping mutants and other stuff. That was enough for him. The little bird must’ve thought he’d get a kick out of the party. He was in the target group, after all. And hey, maybe she’d be there? He’d get to see her again.
He’d been busy since de-aging, but most of it had been fairly mundane stuff. Clothes shopping, job shopping. The hunt for who had organized the deAging was still ongoing. You would think asking around at bars and searching for rats, you would find your source and move on. Nope.
He had spoken to several different guys one might consider walking clues. Shifty individuals with information. He’d bought them several drinks, paid a few bribes, and run up the lead his sister had given him, but... well. More and more, it seemed to him like he ought to simply hire a detective and hand the work over to them. It was a point of pride that ha prevented him from doing so, already. Him having been a detective, after all.
This party... it would be a good excuse to blow off the hard investigation work he’d been doing every night. Blow off some steam. Ashton has found a good swimsuit for it. A pair of black trunks with a palm tree on the side of one leg. A palm tree and some coconuts. Over it, he wore a pair of blue jeans and a loud Hawaiian t-shirt with purple flowers and lots of yellow and red. Felt like he should be wearing something a bit more professional, like a gray suit or something. But— eh. That was just because half his older self’s closet had been gray suits. He wore his leather jacket over it... and decided tonight might also been a good time to engage in some of that Networking his sister had been telling him about. To get his name out there, and help him get a better job than... than a fast food place or something.
He arrived on time. Maybe even a little early. Which was lame, right? Usually, cool people arrived late. The party came with them. But apparently, old man Ashton’s prompt punctuality had rubbed off on him. Must’ve been spread alllll over his bed sheets. Gross.
Ashton flashed his ID, which proved he was old enough to drink. Made it past security, and into the changing rooms. Then, he stripped down to his trunks and the Hawaiian shirt.
Inside the main event area, he looked around. There was a silent auction of sorts going on. And several other things. Hot tubs, all over the place. He’d have to toss his shirt when he changed out of it. If he lost it, that was fine. He’d brought a spare... and a towel. He’d left them in the locker, in a backpack. With other useful stuff like his keys and his wallet. Hey. Old Ashton was apparently giving him aged common sense too.
There was music. Surely, there would be dancing. It was probably older music, but for him who had lost twenty years, not. Old. Enough. It still made him feel out of place. The candles made the whole place feel darker and more mood-oriented. More, intimate, he supposed. Was what they were going for. Like at a fancy restaurant.
Fingers crossed, the night would be good. He saw some women, and one with a bikini with pizza and cats on it. She was kind of cute. Interesting bikini. He did not approach her, however. There was something about the way she held herself. He could not place it. Seemed off. Plus, who just waltzes up to hit on the first interesting person they see at a party? Who does that? He needed to give it at least five minutes first.
Ashton loitered by the bar, with a beer. Bar with a beer. Yep. He felt obvious and naked, in his loud shirt.

There were plenty of reasons for Becca to come out to the Hot Tub Time Machine Party, which she made sure to lay out for Gawain when she made the decision to attend. Haven was a well-intentioned organization she had supported through promotion and positive social media attention. A fundraising support event for de-aged individuals in New York, most of whom were mutants, was exactly the kind of event she wanted to throw support and attention toward. Now that she was a non-field participant for X-Missions, she also wanted to work on finding new ways to do good, and Haven seemed like a potential step toward that goal.
There were also Mansionites planning to attend the party. Rebecca was not a chaperone, but she did want to be at the party if something went wrong or one of her residents needed someone nearby they could trust.
It was also a party. And Becca was feeling a little stir crazy lately. Things had picked up for the X-Men with the ongoing abductions and de-agings demanding additional patrols. Mirror was keeping busy, but Becca was mostly just finding herself at the Mansion watching over an ever-expanding cast of characters. At least here, she could do that while relaxing in a hot tub.
After treating herself to a new swimsuit for the occasion, mainly because her old ones were currently feeling more snug than they did last summer. She still wanted a binini, letting her tummy have room to breathe, but to also show off her temporary mutation of the day. Thanks to the kiddo she was hosting, Rebecca was all muscles. Sculpted back, muscular legs, and strong arms. If her baby was making her a body-builder, why not show up?
Appreciating some throwbacks to her own teenage years coming through the speakers, Rebecca took her glass of pop from the bartender and made her way toward one of the hot tubs. She was here to relax and enjoy herself, so why waste time?
How exactly did she get here? Oh, right; Vanessa Bookman was bad at saying no to cute girls. And one of her new best friends in this bizarre, time-displaced world was a cute girl.
To be fair, Vanessa was the one who brought the party up. The event sounded worth looking into. Yes, sure, she was part of the group it was raising awareness and support for, which was always nice, but she was more so curious about Haven. She looked them up, did research, and noticed their efforts in humanitarian works and activism. There was limited public information and there seemed to be strong business associations with Haven, but she hoped they were not just the smiling face of some corrupt corporations.
After talking about Haven and the event for the better part of a day, Agnes was the one to suggest they just do the obvious: attend the party. Nessa… was not all too sure about that idea. Hot tubs and pools were a great place for anxiety. Still, Agnes was convincing.
Her blatant swimsuit modeling did not hurt her cause.
And so, they were at Haven and Nessa was nervously entering the party in a green bikini and swim skirt she ordered from Nile Prime two days prior. She was glad it fit, and it seemed to offer the coverage she was hoping for, but she still felt exposed. Thankfully, she had Agnes close by for support, and she had even called in additional reluctant support in Shay, who was supposedly going to meet them there.
Miss Grey was walking by from the bar, which did offer Nessa an opportunity to ease her nerves by being snarky. ”Miss Grey, think you can sneak me a wine? Since, you know, the cheating.”
The exasperated redheaded teacher rolled her eyes. ”At some point I’m assuming you’ll let that go,” she replied, easing herself into the waters of a nearby hot tub. ”Also… maybe.”
Smug in her victory, Nessa turned back to Agnes as she entered the room. ”Alright, so I guess this is us actually trying to get out into the Twenty-Twenty world.” At least they could do that as a team, because a room of strangers was intimidating. ”Since I blame you for getting me out of the Mansion, I’ll follow your lead. Aggie?” The bars, the tubs, the auctions; at least they had options, and at least Nessa brought someone to make the choice for her.
The internet was so helpful. When people kept talking about Haven and their fundraising party, Steph could just look them up and sate her curiosity! They had a track record of making moves and supporting the people displaced by weird New York nonsense like alternate universes, public health scares, and now age-altering phenomena. It even seemed like they leaned further into supporting mutants with some of their outreach programs.
They seemed like a good organization. That did not mean Steph planned on accepting money or getting involved. Haven seemed very public, and she did not want to be too visible as a civilian. For the same reason, she had no interest in trying to rob from the silent auction they were holding.
A party though? She could use a good party. It had been ages since the Piano Bar with Raine, and after how that ended and the following… decisions made with a certain vigilante, Steph had not rushed into another girls’ night out. A fundraiser hot tub party sounded like the kind of night out she could go to on her own, after setting things up with a sitter to watch Malia. Poor thing; she was de-aged too, but she was well-under the fifteen-year-old limit.
The bartender handed Steph her wine and her fake ID back. She actually loved wine, but she was curious why she noticed someone walking with a whiskey not listed as available. She was even trying to chat up the bartender to find out how one got their hands on a glass of the amber stuff. She figured her attire for the evening might help her get some special treatment. ”Any chance there’s a secret menu? I promise to keep it quiet, and it was just my birthday! Any special treats?”
The bartender raised an eyebrow and smirked. “According to that ID of yours, you’re born in November.”
Steph’s expression deflated, and she got the message: don’t push your luck. Bartender: One, Steph and the strappy black bikini: Zero. ”Wine it is,” she sighed, turning to look at the party while sticking close to the bar. She could take her time, sip her drink, and savor a night out with no work, no parental obligations, and no awkward sexual tension. Just a party, some wine, and several hot tubs.
Ezmeralda wanted to believe she gravitated to good. Well, when she was not actively hunting bad. She believed there was plenty of good in the world, even amidst the corruption and blight. A party held to support those affected by the de-aging crisis sounded like a good way to use positive energy to create more positive change, which was enough reason to check it out.
After a recent… interaction with a local, er, wannabe enterprising small businessmen currently out of business, Ez found herself flush with some extra cash. It was not an obscene amount, but after she set aside some cash for her gem budget, she passed the rest along to herself through fake Devotee donations. The party was playing host to a silent auction, which Ez believed to be the best way to pass along her ill-gotten gains to a good cause.
And yes, it was an excuse to attend what sounded like a classy party full of her swimsuit-clad peers. That was worth a night of her time. Maybe the cops could find it in their power to keep the streets safe so the Crystal Witch could enjoy a night off. After changing into her outfit of choice for the night, Ez chose to peruse the potential auctions on the outskirts of the room with a beer in hand. She considered Chirping about the event, but… well, her social media presence was not suited for promoting events like this.

Jorge
It was a good idea, but it was also one that he was extremely surprised by. It has been months since Jorge was returned to his apartment by Gemma Taylor, months that he has had to sit, trying to understand what happened to him. This whole time he has been trying to get back into the swing of some kind of a life but everything just seems so...difficult. By his latest recollection, it’s decades prior to the current date. That made acclimating a...problem.
But, nonetheless, he was doing the best he could. He returned to work, still for the MRC, but he wasn’t handling the case load that apparently he used to handle. He was going to start in a lower capacity, as a junior detective. Amends would be made to his pay to help compensate for the fewer responsibilities, hours, and what happened to him. All in all, as much as he wanted to be upset by the idea that he lost some big titles, he knew that it was for the best. He still needed to find his feet in 2020.
However, that also meant that he needed to find things to do. He couldn’t focus on work all the time and with Ms. Taylor still being a little distant from him, he had to forge some kind of a life. So when he heard about the invitation from Haven to partake in an event for de-aged individuals, he admittedly wrestled with himself on whether or not he should go. After all, he was supposed to be a 50 year-old man who was knocked back into his mid-20s. Then again, it wasn’t as if he remembered those he was that old.
It took some time but eventually he decided that, without a doubt, he needed to start smaller. He wouldn’t attend this party but maybe he would try going out to a bar or some other event where he could try to live things up. You know, to slowly reintroduce himself back into the world. That was probably the safest thing he could do. It was a good plan.
Then that plan was sent hurtling out a window.
He didn’t know what possessed him. Maybe it was the fact that he was heating up the same mac-and-cheese dinner he had been having all week. Maybe it was because he put on the same ghost hunting show that he kept calling ridiculous every time he watched it. But something caused him to change his mind. And that was why he decided to go out after all and take in some time in a hot tub.
Jorge didn’t know anyone here. He felt momentarily out of place when he walked in but after changing into his swim trunks (with thick, blocked off stripes that followed a color palette reminiscent of the ocean), the bare-chested, scruffy-faced police officer started to blend in a bit more. As he passed through the interior, stopping off for a drink at the bar, he soon found (via overhearing) that he wasn’t the first old-timer to apparently find youth again. A man was there, strong, blonde, muscular, who said that he was actually 70 years old . Kudos to him and the young man he walked away with, arm-in-arm.
Smirking and shaking his head, Jorge ordered himself a soda (not wanting to dull his senses too much so early) before he walked away, heading for one of the hot tubs. It was relatively empty so after claiming a corner spot, he steadily slid in and sighed. This wasn’t bad. The water felt nice.
He nodded to the other party goers who were eyeing him and gave them a gentle nod. ”Evening,” he said, before taking a sip of his drink and letting his body soothe and float. Yeah, this felt good.
Strangely, when Nessa started talking about the party that Haven was throwing, she was actually fully interested in it. Before she wouldn’t have been but her shot of confidence, the easy going nature that she was feeling take hold more and more as the days pressed on, it felt like something she had to do. Of course, it helped that: A.) she had a friend who wanted to go (with the right persuasion), and B.) she was one of those people the party was being thrown for. It was fate!
There was some resistance on Nessa’s part but Agnes figured it only had to do with nerves. With a pout and an admittance that she wanted to go to show off her new bathing suit, she managed to coerce Nessa into going. Not only that but they would be meeting a friend there! More the merrier!
Then second they got to the party, Agnes excused herself to go change and returned to her new friend, modeling her one-piece, honeycomb designed swimsuit. It showed off way more skin than she would have normally felt comfortable with but, again, these days she was feeling particularly brave. Not only was the bathing suit cute, but it was a bit of a joke considering her powers. She couldn’t resist the humor.
After returning to Nessa, she found her new found friend walking away from the bar, after seemingly chatting up one of the teachers from the school. She had to admit, good for her. Agnes was glad to see that someone as old as Ms. Grey was brave enough to come out to a hot tub party in her condition. And even in a bathing suit! Such bravado! She hoped she was that brave when she got older...if she did.
She shook those thoughts away and instead focused on Nessa. She seemed to carry a tinge of nervousness about her but she still didn’t seem all that bothered at being here. Good. Agnes was looking to have a good time and knew that Nessa needed it to. They both went through a pretty crazy thing and rather than run from it, they needed to embrace the change and forge forward.
Of course as it was easier said than done, Agnes didn’t relate just how loudly she was existentially screaming into the void. Instead she believe that so long as you keep smiling, keep moving on, eventually the rest of you will catch up. She hoped.
”Yup,” she said, hanging close to Nessa and looking about the hot tub-filled room. ”Who would have known it would have been so hot and wet.”
Okay, better choice of words next time. Her cheeks colored a little but she shook it off, sending the nervous twinge down to her wings, causing them to flutter involuntarily before settling against her back again. It was here that Nessa passed the blame onto her, inquiring as to what they should do first. She snorted.
”Hey, listen here Nessa, you were the one that brought it up.” She grinned devilishly. ”If anything I’m the one having her innocence sullied in this den of delights.” She sighed and looked about. ”And that depends, hon. You want to go bid a pretty person to hang about with tonight and sit on a relaxed, cool, cushioned chair? Or you wanna claim one of the hot tubs before they’re all filled and floating with god knows what?”
Sveta watched from the corner by the bar as people started filing in. Some faces she recognized - people who were here to support the cause - and some she thought looked familiar, probably from before they got de-aged. It was making her head hurt a little. She rubbed the bridge of her nose. It would have been a rough week, even without HR organizing this shindig right inside Haven. She got herself a drink, and settled down to keep an eye on a bunch of teens mingling with swimwear.
And then Noel walked in, wearing some ridiculous bikini.
A younger Noel.
Oh. That explained a whole lot.
Sveta blinked, then detached herself from the bar, and made a beeline for her fellow IE member, Teen Edition.
"Noel?" she approached her, trying not to freak her out in case she had no idea she actually worked for Haven "Do you recognize me?"
Memory was a shaky thing at best when Noel was involved. Even on a good day.
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
Ranger watched people as they came in and went to the bar or to a hot tub. She wasn’t sure what she should do. Other than Svetlana she did not recognize anyone who had arrived. Should she go to the bar for a drink? Maybe get something non-alcoholic. A repeat of her drunkenness at the wedding would not do. Should she go find a hot tub to enjoy while she waits for Noel to arrive? She should do… Something… THere was no sense in her standing around being part of security. She was not herself, in a bikini, and unarmed. It was not the best setup for securing anything.
Deciding to go to the bar and get a drink, Ranger turned… and saw Svetlana approaching. The Russian woman was calling out to her. Svetlana knew Noel (which Ranger already knew) and by asking if Ranger recognized Svetlana, Ranger assumed that there was no reason why a young Noel couldn’t know Svetlana.
”Howdy.” Ranger said, thinking of how to answer the woman who was one of the leaders of Haven without lying. ”Yes… But... only from a picture in a file.” BlacTac had a file on every member of Haven. Ranger’s own personal files that SUPER had access to also included documentation on higher up members of Haven. Mostly in the form of mission reports regarding things Ranger had done for them.
Ranger held out a hand to Svetlana, ”Did we know each other? Before the... Oh!” A sudden realization hit Ranger. Svetlana’s file had mentioned touch was to be avoided. Something to do with Svetlana’s power. She closed her hand and drew back the offered arm. ”...Sorry… Did we know each other before the deagin’?”
There was some recognition in Noel's eyes, but not the kind that would come from the older version (on a good day). Sveta sighed. It would have been too much to ask to have at least one friend and colleague back to help survive the evening...
>>”Howdy. Yes… But... only from a picture in a file.”
Go figure. At least she knew who Sveta was. Probably. Maybe. Close enough.
>>”Did we know each other? Before the... Oh! ...Sorry… Did we know each other before the deagin’?”
Sveta arched an eyebrow at the offered hand, but Noel caught herself before things got awkward. There must have been things other than a photo in that file.
"You work here. Well... the adult you works here. I have been wondering where you'd disappeared to. This" she gestured vaguely the crowd of de-aged people and friends "actually explains a lot." She tilted her head curiously "Who gave you a file?"
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
The offered hand only drew an arched eyebrow from Svetlana. Ranger’s second too late remembering had likely headed off an awkward moment. Replacing it with a slightly less awkward moment. Ranger’s file on Svetlana did not detail exactly what her power was, but it did contain the theory that Noel making physical contact could likely be worse than Ranger making physical contact.
Svetlana explained that the adult Noel worked for Haven. Ranger knew that to be somewhat true and tasted that Svetlana believed it was true. What Svetlana did not know was that, according to files Ranger and Noel received from SUPER, they had been working for SUPER as spies in Haven.
”I’ve… Had some adjustin’ t’ do. Was even out of state f’r a bit. Everythin’s different.” Ranger said, partially talking about the deaging that Svetlana indicated. Partially talking about her own unique situation. Use of Noel’s power on Noel had made it an easier adjustment and helped Ranger play the act of being Noel.
Who gave Ranger a file? Nobody. Ranger had a file. ”Michael. He has files on everyone here. Part of runnin’ security.” It wasn’t a lie to talk about yourself in the third person ”While at BlacTac I’ve looked over some of ‘em…An’ I have journals. T’ keep track of memories.” Ranger had taken up Noel’s habit of taking notes. She had already replaced several memories learning how to control Noel’s power and then more using the power for SUPER. She didn’t think she had permanently deleted anything but there was no guarantee. Keeping a journal was an easy safeguard to keep.
>>”I’ve… Had some adjustin’ t’ do. Was even out of state f’r a bit. Everythin’s different.”
No kidding. De-aging was confusing for anyone, that was easy to imagine - but with Noel's specific powers, it had to be a trip and a half. Sveta was mildly surprised she even got her hands on a file and managed to retain some relevant information. The accent was off, but Noel had picked up speech patterns from people before. A
>>”Michael. He has files on everyone here. Part of runnin’ security. While at BlacTac I’ve looked over some of ‘em…An’ I have journals. T’ keep track of memories.”
Right.
"Michael? Now there's another person who hasn't been around a whole lot." Sveta sighed. People tended to disappear around here "Tell me he's not de-aged too. I'm starting feel like Haven is getting a whole lot of young blood... No offense."

Michael was someone who hadn't been around Haven a whole lot. That was because Ranger had severed all but the business ties she had to Haven. Not openly. She had simply moved herself and Noel out of Haven into an apartment in BlacTac and had made no effort to reach out to anyone at Haven for anything not related to providing security. The mission for SUPER having ended when Ranger and Noel were deaged had led to it. Being deaged was a good enough excuse for any strangeness if and when it was questioned.
”None taken.” Ranger said, ”An’, yeah. Michael was deaged. Havin’ t’ spend a lot of time relearnin’ how BlacTac operates.” Ranger had a feeling that the conversation could quickly start moving into territory where she had to be incredibly creative with her answers to avoid unpleasant lies or find someone else who might jump in and steer the conversation in other directions. She stepped to the side and with one hand pointed to the bar, ”Michael’s here now. In Haven. Y’ll see him here tonight.”
Ranger had spoken as she made her way to the bar so Svetlana knew Ranger wasn’t just walking out of the conversation. When she reached the bar she knew she could order on or off menu. The beer, wine, and so on or the whisky that was stashed away. Ranger, knowing better than to start the night off with anything alcoholic, ordered, ”Iced tea.” Then when asked if she wanted sweet or unsweet she thought about it a moment before deciding, ”Sweet.” Sweet tea had a stronger flavor so maybe it would help more with lies for the night. That and sweet tea was a comforting taste of home when everything else in her life was wrong.
