The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>”Still waiting on the lawsuit to go through. I had my powers first.”
"Can't wait to see little girls cosplaying as you."
She twirled the ice in her drink and took a sip. She was not usually the person to sip vodka, but she did not want to get trashed too fast. This time.
>>”More of a day after throw up kind of guy. But thanks, not sure if it would be best if I crash here. Doesn’t look like you got enough room for two. I don’t sleep much anymore anyways.”
She only acknowledged that with a nod. It was not hard to guess why he would have trouble sleeping. They had just gotten a glimpse at each other's nightmares, and his was definitely worse than hers.
>>”I did expect you to have a larger place. You don’t really look like the small place low key kind of lady.”
"It's definitely a step up from what I grew up with" she noted with a smirk, sitting down on the edge of the bed to rest her legs "But it's not my normal apartment if that's what you're asking. I just don't like bringing my work home to the clinic, so I usually spends some time here instead. So, yeah, I'm the vigilante kinda lady." she added, chuckling at him.

Sveta took some time unlacing her boots and kicking them off; suddenly she lost a few inches of height, especially standing next to Sam. Talking about the X-man, he looked positively brooding, and well on his way to drink himself senseless the fastest way possible.
>>”Don’t like guns.”
"Well, not everyone has magic Disney ice powers" she said sarcastically, and held out her glass, arching an eyebrow at him, waiting for some ice in her drink.
"You can pass out on the bed if you wan't, but if you throw up you clean up. I want my deposit back on dis apartment when I'm done using it."
It was a hideout, pure and simple, a place to lay low without bringing down villains and cops on Jude and his family. She didn't know if Sam got the idea, or if he thought she was just this trashy, or if he didn't care at all.

Sveta was one step ahead, picking up the good kind of vodka before they walked out, ignoring the confused glances of the cashier.
>>"Back to your place? Or would any roof top do?”
"Aren't you supposed to not drink on the street in dis country?" she asked with a smirk as they walked "I have a place close by, we can go dere. You shouldn't get trashed where there are minors around."
She led him back to the apartment buildings and up a couple of flights of stairs in one of them, until they got to the apartment. She unlocked the door and pushed it open, revealing a small space with a bed, a tiny kitchen corner, a bathroom, and a set of drawers.
Sveta set her bottle down on the counter and shrugged out of her jacket, gun holster, and took off her mask. The gloves stayed on, though. She opened the bottle and set two glasses on the counter, filling one of them.
"Cheers."

"Liquor store" Svat said curtly, moving over to the fire escape and looking down the street "One block down dat way."
It was her neighborhood, or rather, the neighborhood she most often patrolled as a vigilante, and even had a spare apartment to be used as a hideout. Going down the fire escape she could feel all of her muscles aching and bruises starting to form.
The guy working the counter was about to lock up, and looked positively scared when the two of them walked in. Sveta was wearing her mask, and could imagine what went through the guy's head, especially in this neighborhood.
"Buying customers" she said, holding up her hands "Had a rough night keeping the streets safe."
She glanced at Sam.
"Pick your poison."

>>“It is obvious. You came to help strangers from a burning building from gang-members with machetes.”
Sveta smirked at that. All in a good day's work. She did not only help a family that needed help, but also found a new and interesting mutant that could potentially be her friend. They walked out of the bathroom together and back to the tables.
>>"I think we should head out of here. We’re no longer needed.”
Sveta nodded. They both said goodbye to the family and made sure they were in good hands before walking out of the restaurant together.
"So... do you have some time to talk?" asked Sveta as they walked down the street "Not out here, obviously. But I don't meet other mutants very often... not ones that are safe to be around me anyway. And I feel like you have a story to tell too."

Yeah, it always came down to the children. Sveta knew where the entire thing was headed, and she was less than happy about it. Still, it needed to be done, and even her was not cold-hearted enough to let Sam deal with getting rid of his own kids, even if they were not real.
"Don't look." Sveta said curtly, and waited until Sam looked away before she got to work. It didn't take long; whatever these creatures really were, they made a mistake by taking on such small forms. Two poofs later Sveta sighed, feeling like he was drawing a breath for the first time in hours, and looked around from the rooftop. The city was chaos as usual, with sirens sounding everywhere, but there seemed to be a subtle shift in the air as dawn approached - maybe the creatures were nocturnal, or maybe whatever brought them in went away. Either way, the sounds of the city were those of the aftermath, instead of open battle.
Sveta turned to look back at Sam. He looked exhausted, and she knew she was probably not better either.
"You. Me. Hard liquor. Now."

[OOC: Sorry, switched the order a little, made more sense]
>>"Ladies, the chariot's here, let's go!"
Sveta grinned as they all met up in the hallway, although she was still holding a gun in one hand and looking around to make sure no one decided to shoot someone in the last moment.
"How nice of you." she smirked at Sam "Did you have fun while we did all de hard work down here?"

She had no more stomach for this than he did, and it was obviously not easy for either of them. On the plus side, they knew for sure their enemies were not real people. Not that it would stop the nightmares that were probably already queued up.
The woman yelled nasty things at her in Romanian - or at least they sounded like nasty things - as Sveta dragged her towards the roof's edge. She was aware that at the same time Sam had tackled the copy of the stepfather. She was not sure what the kids were doing. Would it be too much to ask for the kids to poof when their mother poofs?...
"I hate dis." Sveta muttered as she yanked the woman upwards at the roof's edge. She tried not to overbalance as some punches landed on her face (one split the skin on her cheek). She was at a disadvantage as long as she was holding on to the woman. So she let go. Poof.

>>“I don’t really understand it either. I think I was dead for maybe an hour until my mutation kicked in bringing me back. My heart doesn’t beat. I don’t eat or sleep. Blood doesn’t run through my veins, but someone I can move my limbs and everything. I can’t heal though. So if I had burned in that fire...”
Sveta blinked.
"Whoa."
So, the girl was dead. Like, dead dead. She was practically a zombie. A very smart one, and one that didn't eat brains (wait, did she?), but... still creepy, as far as mutant powers went.
>>“What about you? How did you realize you could enhance powers?”
Sveta leaned back against the wall with a smirk.
"I was going to marry a guy, but when I kissed him... well, he was a mutant too. Took me a bit to figure it out. I can't be around a lot of mutants. Too dangerous... but I like to help where I can."

The guards in the room went down fast, especially with the unsolicited help of Evelyn.
"Nice throw" Sveta remarked with a smirk before she moved over to the captive.
>>"So, headache medicine, yes?"
"You can knock yourself out back on the jet" Sveta cut the ties on the captive and smiled at her "Sam says hi, he's busy upstairs. Let's get out of here before we have to hurt more people." she said in Russian. The man nodded and stood up, following them to the door.
"Do you think dere is any chance the cavalry is coming?" she asked, peeking out into the corridor "Our cavalry, I mean, not deirs. Can you page your boyfriend and tell them we're ready?"

A blast of cold air and ice swept over the rooftop as Sam came to Sveta's aid. The woman was kicking her as she went down, but she stopped once Sam started punching the balding man. Sveta tried to scramble back to her feet, but the ice and the pain in her ribs was making it hard.
>>”Sveta, Daddy issues? Really?”
"He is NOT my father!" she yelled, and the anger gave her strength to stand back up. She sneered at the man that tried to hit Sam "He's my stepfather. One of dem anyway. He hurt Bo, and I threw him off a roof."
The woman went to lunge at Sam.
>>“Sam, don’t forget about us!”
"How about I get her and you get him?"
She had no patience for fighting her vile stepfather all over again. Instead she circled around and unceremoniously grabbed Alexandra by the hair, pulling her off Sam's back "I told you to leave him alone. B*tch."
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
“That’s all you got? You and this blonde here are pathetic! You abounded us even watched us die and did nothing! To think the kids and I loved and trusted you. You were supposed to protect us!”
Ding-dong. Dead people were fair game, at least in Sveta's book.
She was aware that Sam was struggling with the kids, but if she had to choose between fighting someone's not-real dead wife or his kids in front of him, she was definitely going to go for the wife. At least she was an adult. And kind of a b*tch too.
"You are not real, and you are annoying." Sveta snarled, lunging at the woman again. She ducked surprisingly fast, but didn't manifest any powers. Just like the others before. That was a relief.
Sveta threw some punches and kicks at Alexandra while Sam... did whatever he was doing.
>>“Worst father ever. Maybe this time you won’t run away again!”
"Don't listen to them Sam!" she yelled between hits "Dey are not r..."
The blow came from behind her. She was ducking a punch from the woman so it didn't land quite on the back of her head as intended, but it crashed down on her shoulder instead. Sveta cried out as her knees buckled and she fell down.
The man that just appeared from behind one of the small buildings on the roof grinned down at her. He was middle-aged and balding, wearing an unbuttoned shirt and pants that needed a thorough washing.
"Hello there Svetlana darling" he said in Russian "Didn't you miss Dad?"
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
>>“Sam, you haven’t told your friend about me? Or the kids?”
>>”Not real… Not real.”
Sam's reaction was even more off than the random appearance of his alleged family. Sveta's eyes narrowed. Why did he insist on them not being real? It didn't seem like he was trying to convince her either... it seemed like he was trying to convince himself. He definitely looks scared.
>>“Aww Sam. Can’t say that about your family. Don’t fight it Sam. You know how much you miss us and how much we need you. Don’t leave us again.”
She watched him hug the kids, and frowned. If someone was doing all of this - Evil Sveta, Evil Sam, the unreal family - they were really going for the weak spots.
>>”I didn’t leave… not real.”
It was pitiful to watch, really. Sveta swallowed. She wondered if they would poof if killed, but there was really no good way to test that theory. Because... well, what if they didn't?
And yet, something was off about the woman, the same way something had been off about Evil Sveta. She was... so purely malicious, she could not have been someone Sam had a family with. It just didn't add up.
"Excuse me." Sveta sighed finally, making a very hard decision. She would live with the consequences later. She was a vigilante, not a hero.
She marched past Sam and the kids right up to the other woman, and with all the pent up stress and frustration of the past hours, she backhanded her across the face.
The woman staggered back from the force of the impact, crying out as she lifted her hands to her face. Her eyes flashed with anger at Sveta, and for a split second she seemed to blur along the edges.
"Sam deserves better" Sveta concluded "He's a good guy. I'm not. Get the **** out of here, or I'll see if you're real or not."
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
>>”On the contrary. Think if you are able to boost my powers like that with just a kiss we should practice more. You know? To get more control.”
Sveta rolled her eyes. Yeeeeah, right. Because last time she had that training plan with a guy, they totally didn't end up sleeping together. Oh wait, they totally did.
>>"Whatever they were. Gone now, shape shifters don’t ‘poof’ they scream or bleed.”
"But maybe dere was more of them?"
Would not be the first time. Not with their kind of vigilante luck, anyway.
>>”Never took you one for being scared. Got a headache. Need a drink. You? Got to say though, think I liked your kiss better. The other you used a bit too much tongue.”
"Oh, get over it Sam" she smirked "But I'll let you buy me a drink if you mean it."
>>“I see my husband hasn’t changed since I last saw you.”
Oh hell.
>>”This isn’t possible…”
"Wait you're married?!" Sveta gaped, staring at the woman that just appeared from the fire escape followed by... two kids?! "... wid kids?! SAM!"
Unbe-***-lievable. Men.
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
>>"There's the whole sort of 'can't forget anything' piece of my power that tends to make things...a bit too realistic. I just picked the wrong drunk memory. Let's just try to get this done. I'd kill for some headache medicine right now..."
"You might have to." Sveta smirked, picking up the men's guns before they moved down the hallway towards the only heavy door at the end. That had to be it. She was glad Evelyn managed to sober herself up and took charge of the cards. That power of hers had to suck. Sveta made sure her gloves were pulled up so there was minimum chance of accidentally boosting her partner at the wrong moment.
"Dere might be someone in there with him" she whispered as they approached the door. She holstered one gun and checked the other, standing read at the side of the door "I'll go in first, only follow when the coast is clear. And keep an eye out for reinforcements."
Once the card was applied and the door slid open, Sveta burst in with gun raised and ready.
