The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Yup, the dude was stupid enough to use the old name in the new body.
>>”Am I supposed to sleep with the winner of this little ****fight?”
Sveta did her damned best to keep a hostile face while her own self was devolving into a whiny b*** behind her back. She almost rolled her eyes. Really? How fast did the guy want to dismantle her reputation?
>>”I’m just a frightened woman. I need a strong man to save me and sweep me off my feet!”
"Shut up!" she snapped, her voice a satisfying grumble. At least that fit the character.
"Well Damien." she said, cracking her knuckles once more for emphasis "Let's see what you've g..."
BOOM.
It was some kind of a sonic blast or shock wave. She wasn't quite sure, but before she knew it she was flat on her back several feet away, looking up at her opponent's annoying smirk.
"Son of a b***!!!"

Sveta was locked in an elevator with a mutant. Her morning just took a nose dive for the worst.
>>"Well, I have just finished graduated with my second masters, and felt like it was time to explore the world, get a real job, go somewhere new, make new friends... And.. and.. ..And to perhaps discover if I am a mutant or not. Alot of strange things have been happening to me lately, even more so this morning, and perhpas i hoped that by coming here I might discover if I am a mutant or just simply going mad. How about you?"
Sveta tactfully moved away from the guy as the elevator door closed, fitting herself into the farthest corner of the enclosed space, and reflexively checking her gloves. The kid was a mutant. Oh joy. She was also not going to share the real story of how she arrived to New York as a mail order bride.
"I came here to work" she summarized shortly, then returned to the information he had just dropped "So... vat makes you think you are mutant? Vat strange things have happened to you lately?..."

Sveta wasn't sure who that comment was aimed at, and she didn't really care either. She let her body go (hoping she didn't leave a bruise, damn her new hands were large), and turned to the knight in shining armor. She had an interesting vantage point: For once, she was looking down at a guy instead of up. Her new body was a couple of inches taller and more bulky. That didn't mean, however, that the other guy couldn't put up a fight...
"Or what?" she challenged.
"Or I'll have to hurt you until you leave the lady alone" the other man smirked, and heck it was annoying. Sveta smirked too, although she was a lot less sure of herself.
"Fine. We can play it out, man to man" she said, cracking her knuckles with a satisfying sound "I can respect a warrior. What's your name, kid?"

>>"Sorry, still a little out of breath, blood flowing back to brain. I just got here, well.. I mean that in more ways than one. I, just arrived in New York as well as this roof top... I was chasing the sunrise you see. Have you been in New York long?... Say do you know of a place nearby where I can get a spot of breakfast? I am famished".
For someone out of breath, the guy sure did talk a lot. Sveta tilted her head and conjured up a smile as she listened. If he wanted to get off the rooftop, she was all for it. At least she could distract him from the duffle bag and the guns.
"I know a place dat does bagels" she said, nodding in the general direction down the street "It's a New York ting." she paused "... welcome to New York!"
She moved instinctively towards the fire escape before she caught herself and started towards the rooftop door instead. An elevator was much more comfortable at this height than climbing down.
"So, what brings you to de city? Are you studying here?"

It's not like Sveta woke up early - she simply didn't go to sleep at all. She had a long night of hard vigilante work behind her, with beating up muggers, scaring off criminals, and escorting victims home to safety. Sometimes it was all quiet on the streets of New York; this night wasn't one of those. As it got close to sunrise Sveta settled on a roof, changing out of her vigilante outfit and back into normal clothes - jeans, a t-shirt and a jacket. She put on a pair of long gloves and was just about to pack up and leave when she heard the sound of someone running.
Turning around, she noted the guy on the roof. How long had he been there?... How much did he see? She stood, kicking her backpack out of sight.
>>"I hope I am not intruding, if so I am happy to leave. My name is Richard."
"Hi" she said a little cautiously as she stepped closer "You are not intruding. It's not my roof."

>>”Play along? So you are curious-ohi! The hell do you think you’re doing!?! Besmirching my good name! Bacchus Brickson does not hit or push women! You hit any harder your old body might not be working so great.”
Just what part of 'play along' was lost on this guy?!...
Sveta frowned as she watched her body bounce off the wall and start yelling. He really was botching the whole thing - she could only hope their target was still out of earshot. Seriously, though? Crappy acting.
"I said..."
A shoe was chucked at her and she ducked out of the way. Oh great. That was a good shoe.
>>”Back off! Help!"
That was better. Done for the wrong reasons, but better.
"Shut up!" she growled, and it sounded much more satisfying in a deeper voice "Shut. UP!"
She grabbed her own body by the shoulders, holding her firm, trying to prevent other projectiles.
"Hey!"
It wasn't Damien. Not his body, anyway. The guy that was moving towards them down the alley with all the makings of a knight in shining armor was taller than Damien. And better built. And waaay more handsome.
"Take your hands off the lady!"
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
Sveta mentally opened a tab. She would just chalk up all the things she was going to do to this guy once he was back in his own body, and she back in hers. Private parts and soft spots would be meticulously marked on that list.
"Maybe I'll leave you alone before we switch back. I bet you would learn so many new tings."
>>”Ohm yer not gonna need that gun by the way. Ever hear of overkill?”
"I've heard of kill." she grumbled, checking the gun and tucking it away. However awesome he thought his powers were, she didn't trust herself with controlling them.
The neighborhood where she had last saved Damien was not far, and they made it without drawing too much attention. Sveta turned a corner into the alley, and turned to look at her own body.
"So, I have a working theory here" she noted "Just play along."
With that, she reached out, and shoved her own body hard against the brick wall. It was surreal in so many levels, but if she was right, it would draw the guy out of hiding. Hopefully before she did too much damage to herself.

>>”Right, well most American’s I’ve found scare easy. Again, nothing-personal love, but a Russian with guns aren’t all too scary. Looking at a guy who pissed off a Russian mob boss when he decided he wanted to bounce a check.”
"I didn't say dey scare of Russians. Dey scare of women with guns." Sveta smirked. She hoped that before all of this was over, she would get to take the guy's ego down a notch or two. He sounded like he had ego to spare.
>>”Sounds good enough, once we get there I can walk in the direction he was and maybe he’ll find me? You can keep a look out or try to track him down. Might be easier if you remember what he smelled like. Sometime the nose knows. Lead the way, handsome”
"Let's go." she nodded, checking herself on instinct to see if everything about her new body was in order, before she walked over to a drawer and pulled out a gun, tucking it away. "And remember, don't touch people. Some really bad things can happen if you touch a mutant. Believe me."
He probably didn't, but she had to say it anyway.
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
>>”You haven’t really been living then. You know I like vigilantes more than cops. They always try to stop you but are too worried about anything else around them. People, buildings cops. Why I usually get away with pretty much anything.”
Sveta rolled her eyes again. The guy had an ego on him larger than his muscles. Bad combination. She'd have to get back to that later. After the punching. Or maybe have Sam handle it.
>>”Vengeance maybe but really. Vengeance or not I’d still come running with that body. You really that scary?”
"I'm a Russian woman with guns, American guys are terrified by me" she smirked, and left it at that.
>>”Where do we start, I suggest not going to a juice bar because well I still have a reputation and no giant in his right mind would be at a bar that doesn’t have alcohol in it. You might see what I mean soon.”
"I hope not" she muttered, then nodded "All right, I know the neighborhood he lives in. Probably. I rescued him from mugging one night, I assume he was going home. We go dere, look around, maybe he shows himself. Unless you got a better idea."
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
>>”Punch me when I get my body back then and we can call it even right? You should be more worried about hands on! otherwise you are goanna have a mess and I’m not cleaning it up.”
Sveta returned from the bathroom a few minutes later, accomplished but no less mortified. It was hands down the most surreal experience of her life so far, and that included kissing a moose.
>>”So what’s the plan here? We gonna go look for this guy or let him come to me? I want to get back into my old body as soon as I can. Nothing wrong with this body though, just I imagine it doesn’t do so well from being shot at.”
"Yeah but no one wants to shoot at me" she pointed out, ignoring that the guy was eating her food "Not without the vigilante costume anyway."
Good thing she was not wearing that getup to the juice bar.
"We go hunt his ass down" she decided "And beat him until he switches us back. I am not sure if he would come to you, he might think you are out for vengeance. Which you are."
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
>>”I don’t got a problem with the cops. They just make my work harder. In fact if it wasn’t for the fact that they keep trying to stop me I’d love ‘em they are good to keep competition down.”
Sveta sighed and rolled her eyes. Her little freakout yielded no improvement. The guy was obviously a criminal. She consoled herself with the idea of sending Sam after him once they had switched their bodies back.
>>”You can grow and shift your weight now. Basically yer built like a brick**** house. Bullets don’t harm ya, not a lot does.”
Oh. Well, that was good to know. Not very reassuring, but at least she was not completely helpless.
>>”You got to pee then go, I’m sure you have seen it before. Not like I haven’t gone to the bathroom yet in your body. Just remember more than two shakes, you are playing with it.”
"Playing with wha..." she bit the sentence off and turned bright red. Maybe his powers also made him blush more? Or was it just because she was mortified?... With a sigh, Sveta headed towards the bathroom.
"And I can't even punch you because you are wearing my body." she muttered, feeling sorry for herself. She looked back from the bathroom door. "Hands off, get it?"
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
>>”What you don’t like? Lighten up a bit. All in good fun.”
Fan was the farthest thing from Sveta's mind right now. She could feel her anger rising as the guy shook his hips - her hips - in a seductive manner. It wasn't in good fun at all.
>>”Well he doesn’t know your new one does he? Cops sure as **** might notice you but a random guy isn’t gonna be looking for ya. Might he be wanting another taste of your old body? I mean, he won’t get anywhere but I might be able to draw him out, right?”
The guy made a point, but Sveta kind of tripped up at the mention of the cops. Cops? What did this guy have against the cops? Better yet, what did the cops have on this guy? The last thing she wanted was to end up in jail on top of everything... Maybe she should call Sam.
>>”I’m also curious to what would happen if I used your body to boost my old one. King kong won’t have nothing on me. So what does he look like?”
"Okay, dat's it." Sveta snapped, and her voice - his voice - went a register deeper and a whole lot louder as she glared at the guy "Dis is not fun at all, get it? I would rather be anywhere else than in your body, some maniac is using my powers to mess with people, you got some problem with de cops, I really need to pee, and all of dis is really pissing me off!"
Crunch. The edge of the counter she was leaning on gave out under her weight, or rather, the increased weight of her new body and the arm she was leaning on. Oops.
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
>>”More or less, love. No offense to you but not normally a place I tend to wake up in the juice bar.”
So he did! The story picked up where she left off. Juice bar, as awful as a place it was for adventures, at least was easily definable.
>>”Know who it is then right? Why not just track him down and make him switch eh? Not like you’re short of muscle now, and me well these hips don’t lie.”
"Please don't do dat." Sveta sighed, pinching the bridge of her new nose in frustration. The guy was enjoying wearing her body a bit too much.
>>”So when someone kisses me they end up in another body or do you as well?”
"No." she sighed "If someone kisses me, deit own powers get boosted. Touching too, just less strong. So I am guessing switching bodies is de other guy's power. He just used me to boost it."
Why... well, that was another question. One that could wait.
"If he is still in his own body, we can track him down. I know his face and his name and... um... the neighborhood? But he also knows what I look like."
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
>>”Right…. Think I’ll just call ya Sheila… Love… no… gorgeous?”
"Effie. You can call me Effie."
It was the usual go-to nickname to pull Americans out of their pronunciation troubles. At the same time, it sounded weird in a man's voice, almost weird enough to make her smirk. Definitely better than Sheila, though.
>>”Well, any who. I was paid to rough up a few of the blokes in a bar who work for some Russians. Rough’em up I thought I did. Then boom! Wake up as a well put together lady! Don’t remember anything before or after really. Was pretty stinking drunk.”
Not very helpful, and did not make her like him more either.
"Well I have a suspect" she sighed "I was at a juice bar, and dis weird acting guy came up to me and I think she knew me somehow. And den she kissed me, and I passed out. Did you wake up in a juice bar?..."
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
"Join de club" she chuckled. Now that she had said it, it strangely sounded a lot less complicated. Or a lot more. Hard to tell, at the level of vodka she had consumed.
>>”So…. Future reference you might want to keep that bit of information on the down low till your like a few dates in. Not to a guy you just made out with.”
"You asked." she pointed out shortly, and finished her drink. It seemed like Sam was over the topic and he was leaning in for some more kissing. "And dere will be no few dates anyway."
If either of them either remembered any of this in the morning.
>>”However, I’m glad you aren’t dating him. Means I’d feel bad about this.”
"Oh yes, because it is totally fine. It's not like we are drunk at all." she chuckled, giving him another kiss before she set her glass down on the floor and flopped back onto the bed "You get dat side of de bed and I get dis side. And no cold feet or I'll cut dem off."
