The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Oh... Right... eh... What kinda... Conversation?" The landscape was bizarre, now that she mentioned it, but... well, it was also pretty normal for her. He nodded a little bit as he looked around. As she started to explain the reasoning behind the art, he looked to her again, his eyes clouding over as he tried to process it.
"Right... Yeah... Revenge of the plants." That... sounded stupid, didn't it? Could he take it back? @#$% he needed to get it together. It's your wife. Talk to her. She pulled him from his thoughts, stating she knew who he was. "You do?"
She did. He crossed his arms uncomfortably, taking another deep breath. If she knew who he was... why hadn't she come? Why did he have to track her down and ambush her? The thought made him frown as his eyes rocketed about, trying to make sense of something that they wouldn't see. It was right there in front of him, though.
He saw it when she started talking about the... other Shelby. His heart dropped. So, they were going to talk about her like she wasn't here? "Uh... yeah... We, eh... We have a kid, yeah." He was looking at the ground now.
"So... Why didn't you..." He couldn't finish the sentence. The words stopped in his throat.
He knew what someone looked like when they were afraid, though he didn't know the context of that fear. He took that half step back again, hands up and attempting to calm. "Hey, hey it's okay. It's okay..."
She agreed to talk... Not here, though. Where? He didn't resist when she reached for him. He felt her touc only for a moment before they were gone.
~~
In a flash they were in a strange landscape. He reached out as she walked away, but didn't grab her. His hand faltered short. Looking about quickly, he opened his mouth "Uh- you... Still paintin... Yeah, right, you always sorta did..." He looked around at some of the unfinished pieces of the work. This place was interesting, to say the least, but it obiously needed more tlc before it could be called complete.
"Why here? And why not go near the, eh... shrubbery?" Like, in the monty pytiono- More importantly. "Shelby... I- uhm... I'm Saphirus... h... How are you... Holding up?"
Wow... How are you holding up. That was what he had? What could he say. He was talking to his deaged wife after chasing her down for months. Actually, that was plenty of time to think of something better to say.
He was staring. It was her. His eyes darted about her features a million times as he stood there, stuck the pose he'd taken to try and keep his balance. It really was her. She looked so young!. He almost didn't notice she was standing now, paint brush and canvas bares like weapons.
He forced his mouth shut. She asked who he was. "Eh- Uh, yeah. I'm- I'm your-" She glanced down at her canvas, and his eyes widened as he took a half step forward, hands held up.
"Wait! Wait... I just- I just want to talk. I just want to... You're not in trouble, here... Please don't go." He didn't know what to say. He'd been looking for her so long he didn't know what to do now that she was right here.
He took a deep breath. "Please stay. Even if it's just for a little bit... Okay?"
He was driving when he got the call. He'd been on his way to pick up Jr. from Collin. One call later, he was doing something completely different.
"Collin, I'm sorry. I just- @#$%in learn to drive! JESUS @$%^IN- Collin, they found her. Sorry, can you watch him just- just a little bit- THANK YOU! Sorry- GET OUT OF THE ROAD YOU- Thank you-" He swerved around an old grandma driver, turning down a cross street that he knew to be a shortcut out of the busier downtown area. Unfortunately, he turned right into a stalled out even older lady in a car.
Of course.
He didn't have time for this. If he took too long, she would be gone again. She always was. He pulled over, and hopped out of the car. It would be faster to go himself. A good solid minute of beating the tar out of himself, and he was able to jump into the air, and fling himself forward with his power. It wasn't exactly flying. It was more... falling with style. But here he was, rocketing through NYC toward the small park at the corner of town.
He made quick progress, deciding not to worry about leaving his car just... sitting at the side of a main road. This wasn't a chance he could just let pass. He just hoped it was actually her, and he wasn't about to freak some other innocent woman who sort of looked like her out... again.
Tunnel vision made spotting his target difficult when he got to the area of the city he was looking for. He managed, though, as he drifted away from the buildings and over grass, to spot a swatch of pink.
Noiselessly, he allowed himself to drop from the air, landing with a bit of a stumble before the woman he was looking for.
"...Shelby?" His vision started to clear as he looked to the woman he had come to a stop in front of.

Boy were there a lot of whippersnappers to manage. It was nice. It felt like fighting a whole gang at once! It'd been at least six months since he'd done that! Yes, he was smirking. He was having fun! Praxi managed not to smack into Luna with as much force as she had attempted to hit her with. Interesting. "Density control. And I'm the cheater?" He barely got a chuckle out before young Hiyori was on the attack once more after Himari seriously did the splits to duck her attack.
That was honestly quite badass... A little inneficient, but the cover of the attack itself made the action viable. Also, it would probably make a criminal's eyes pop out of their head. Kung-fu #$%^. Wait, Kung-Fu wasn't Japanese was it? Neither was Muay Thai, but here they were.
Speaking of here. Their coordinated effort concluded with the giant Samurai attacking from the other side. Yes please, thankyou. He reached over with his right hand and halted the blow in place, greedily soaking up the energy it gave. Oddly enough, though, the construct immediately faded after the attack. Was she getting wise to his game? Likely, no. Not all of it. She had no way of knowing her beefy attacks were making him more dangerous. No, she was trying something else.
Wait, something was grabbing at his legs. Oh, damn. He looked down, and an eye twitched. Zombies. Amazing. He hated Zombies. These weren't real zombies, obviously; He knew a little cat who could make constructs. There were several of them climbing out of the ground and up him to try and crowd him though. Probably a good idea to do something about that. First, though. A hollow Himari was falling from above. He tilted his head to the side just barely and recieved the axe kick to the crown of his head. Moar please.
Oh, he was getting attacked. He felt the strange globules of Praxi flying through the air and ducked unto the pile of zombies, embracing their otherwise terrifying presence. A slight wince came to his features as he felt a few scratches and nips. Still, with their average strength he was able to pick a direction and force his way through well enough, moving away from the Himari clone. Luckily the real Himari seemed to have stepped away, which meant he wouldn't be overwhelmed.
Coming out of the crowd with a few clingers on, and grinning like a maniac, his eyes widened when he saw ahead of him, a skunk girl lifting her tail. "Oh f-" Shot one! His hand shot up, and a finger pointed up and quickly to side side, and his power reached out, tunnel vision taking over as he spun and pointed at the jumping kitty cat.
Sucks to be you, kitty. Before their eyes they would see the flying stink shot suddenly change course, arcing wide and spiraling toward Hiyori instead. Cats had a strong sense of smell, right?
Coming out of the tunnel vision, he realized there was another shot about to hit. He went down, letting one of the clinging zombies take it to the face... Not that it mattered too much. Being near it was... woof. "WOOO! That'll," Cough cough. "OH, man... come in handy..." Cough. "For crowds!"
His eyes were tearing up. He chuckled loudly at Himari's attempt to limit the effects with a ribbon, as if that would work somehow. He was lucky he didn't need to see to be effective. Eyes clenched, cough cough. Go. Giving an idea of the current layout... Himari and Praxy were on the other side of the zombie Horde presently. Hiyori was likely dealing with his attack, he was on his knees with zombies crawling up and after him, and before him, maybe twenty feet away... Was Luna. Alone.
With a grin, he put a fair share of his collected force into the ground, and launched himself from the grasping zombies, gaining a few more scratches on the way, and sailing straight for Luna with frightening speed. Landing on his right leg gained him some energy back, and made him come to a sudden stop before her. His presence would likely feel like some sort of impending doom as he reached out to touch her. Just a touch. Harmless, right?
He would put all of his collected force into that poke. If it hit, the skunk would go saaaiiiling. Mind you, the afformentioned protections were in place, but it wouldn't be a fun experience.
Anyone could have guessed that the room would have burst into action like it did. These kids were eager. The seasoned X-Man couldn't help but grin as the first student stepped forward. As she did, Saphirus' voice rang out. "Activate Training Program MRV2- Training wheels."
Almost nothing would noticeably change immediately within the Danger Room. The effects of the program were more subtle. Now, and invisible shield surrounded the students; one that would prevent force applied to them from breaking thresholds that would lead to anything more than minor bumps and bruises. The floor and walls would give way to a springiness if people were flung into them at high speeds, and the playpen would be protected by a large, tinted barrier.
That wasn't to say anyone was getting out of this scot free; they had all signed a waiver, after all. He didn't mind. They called him the Masochist for a reason. His grin only widened as Hiyori moved first, summoning a giant Samurai with the equivalent of a halberd in its hands. A whistle escaped his lips as the thing approached, ready to swing. "That... Is freakin cool as hell."
Luna moved next, foregoing using her spray for a direct, tactical approach as well. For him, her approach was observable on two levels. First, he saw her moving. More importantly, second... He felt her moving. That neat maneuver with the tail played out in vivid detail as his sixth sense picked up the mechanics of it. "If Your body is tellin ya to run on all fours, do it." He stated it plainly as she approached.
Fighting against his body's natural instinct to spin to meet her well planned out blow, he simply let it hit to little effect. "Gotta get you inta weight training." While calling them all out like this may seem showboaty, and it was, he wasn't doing this to show off. He wanted to see what they were made of. So far, he'd learned that Luna was clever and creative, but needed training on shot mechanics, as well as a good trip to the gym or ten. He would surge toward her, swinging a comparably massive left fist at her guard to see if it broke.
"Try attackin' with your tail, maybe?" As he spoke this he spun and double stepped forward into the approaching Himari's range. The downside to attacking from behind meant he could make a space bubble by pressing one attacker, and then turning to get in the other one's face.
As for Himari's approach. He recognized the Muay Thai right way; it was the martial art he'd practiced for ten years, after brawling haphazardly for the first two years on the team. He also noticed she was playing it safe. Smart, but not what he was expecting when he'd first met her. Where was that passion for the tussle he'd sensed in her? For one, he could feel the noncommittal feints well enough to ignore them as a threat. As much as she may want to treat him like a charging bull, his experience saw him moving at calculated angles, pushing her toward the giant Shogun in order to roll out of the center of their group, and force them to either reorganize their formation, or approach him in a line.
That left the trainee. He broke visual on Himari and Luna to spot her zooming up the wall. Nice. The punishment Himari would aim to dish out in response to him looking away would be blocked by a right forearm that would feel like hitting nothing. The tickle of energy from the blow told him that Himari's strength was absolutely an asset. "Nice." He gave her the respect of not breaking line of sight again, even though his sixth sense didn't make it necessary.
His assumption that the Shogun would not attack with Himari in the way was very off. His eyes widened as the giant switched the blunt side of the naginata out and hefted a massive baseball swing his way. Woof! Hopefully Himari and Luna knew to stay clear. As for him... Well. This was his bread and butter. His right hand reached out to receive the blow by the blade, stopping the blow that could cleave a car in two with little struggle, and causing his left hand to tingle up to his wrist. "Watch out for your team mates, there!"
It was then that he felt something drop from the ceiling. Ah, Praxi, right on time. As she fell he disengaged with Himari and the Shogun, stepping in a rapid, smooth, side-stepping circle to time a hefty open handed smack with the force from the Shogun's strike right at the falling Praxi, aiming to send the majority of her mass right at Luna's face.
(Shogun's movements acted out at the direction of Mouse~)
Ladies and gentlemen, Megan. Saphirus gave her 'the look' in response to her attitude. Oh, like the get out of Gym free pass she'd be getting from this wasn't worth it. Oh well, she didn't need to be enthusiastic, she just needed to be here to keep a spider watching the security consoles in case anything happened up stairs while they were down here.
Also, she had a way with JR, so she could help tend to him without interrupting class if anything happened. "Megan will be acting as an assistant for this training session. Don't ask her anything about fighting, though. She's a learner herself." That was being nice. If anything, Megan had made it blaringly clear that she never had any plans to get punched in the face again... Ever.
Pacing to the next person, his eyes landed on someone who looked like they were about to explode. Huh. The voice and the name made it obvious who she was, but she could not look any more different. Still, his sixth sense felt the strange construct in human form, and the cat within. He nodded. "Aspiring team member. That's good." He kept pacing down the line.
Oh, it was the first person to sign up, right? Oh... That shirt. Wow. A fan of Sam's? He glanced at her tail, and then her bespectacled face. As she spoke, he nodded a little. Another person aiming for the team. He could think of some interesting applications for her power in things like crowd control, or marking suspects so that dogs could find them easily. Still, it was clear she would need some physical training to get up to speed. Maybe both her and the cat.
The next one in the line... Well, she was a different story. This person did, in fact, even lift. Clearly. He smirked a bit as Himari spoke. He'd gotten the distinct impression that she had a sort of chip on her shoulder for some reason. It radiated off of her. He wondered if anything would come of it.
He grinned as he stopped in front of Praxi. Grumpy as he might be normally, he remembered clearly being in her shoes. "Alright, Trainee. Glad to see you here. A lot of you here have an interest in the team. That's good. We can always use new trainees. All you have to do is put your best foot forward, and follow Praxi's Example." The older mutant turned and returned to a position in front of and central to the line-up, about fifteen feet back; the presence of a sort of limp in his gait might draw the attention of anyone sizing him up.
"But... There is a big difference between a trainee, and a full fledged member of the X-Men. If you are interested in getting to that next step, or if you just want to fight. "He looked to Himari. "You came to the right place. To give you a good idea what you are aiming for, long term... We'll start with a demonstration. A sorta game, Rules are easy. All of you, Vs me, hand to hand. Come at me all at once if you want. If you wind up on the floor, you're out. If I wind up on the floor... I quit my day job." He grinned, and stood, waiting for them to act, body placed so that its right side was angled closer to the group.
Saphirus was a busy man; A very busy man. Even now, he was working, and watching a toddler. Well... The Danger room was doing most of the watching. He glanced over to the playpen he'd programmed in, as a digital Nanny floated about a teddy bear next to a strange glowing goldfish above a giggling little boy. The Goldfish wasn't the program's fault... That was JR, or at least, he very much thought so. Ever since he'd forgotten to feed Finn, their pet goldfish a few times after Shelby disappeared, and it went belly up, the little think just sort of... hung out, floating around the 3 year old's head.
Anyway, the boy was entertained, fed, and changed. That cleared up time for this. This being the layout before him, a digital copy of the mansion's own gym. It was training time! For some subtext... This latest generation of students seemed to be rich with potential, and with that a level of eagerness that brought hope for new blood among the ranks of the X-Men. Keeping that in mind, it made sense to see where people were at in regards to readiness. So? Put out feelers. Measure the crop. Count your chickens before you try to hatch them. Something like that.
The TLDR here was he'd put out an announcement to have interested students participate in a training session after class. It invited anyone who wanted to learn more about how to protect themselves or others to join him in the Danger Room.
And here they were. Saphirus looked over the group of students carefully. He recognized most of them from his security details, and one in particular actually helped him with security regularly. He'd asked her to be here. Asked was a bit light. He'd told her to be here. The rest were all volunteers. The X-Man had shown up in full team regalia himself; he'd even shaved and gotten a haircut. Had to put his best foot forward, and Elke had told him he looked like a wookie last time he'd seen her.
"Alright, students. Fall in line! Let's all start by introducing ourselves! Name, Description of your mutation, and reason you decided to join this training session!" This would help discern who was aiming for a spot on the team eventually, and who was just hoping to learn a thing or two.
"I am Saphirus, A Member of the X-Men. You may have seen me working security at the school as well. I can break things easily, and things can't break me easily." He pointed to the first student. "You're up."
"Yeah... That so?" He'd been awake a while, but had opted to sit with his eyes closed and feel the world around him. The light hurt his head, and having a sixth sense made it slightly less necessary. It wasn't long before the familiar sensation of part of a body moving about tickled his senses.
Oh... They were in the same room? He opened his eyes to see the ring curtain draped around him. He was sore all over, so it hurt to even to just look down at himself. He was rough, huh? He'd had worse. Thinking about how she'd conducted herself during their little survival expedition, she might have as well. Honestly, it wouldn't be the worst thing she'd gone through.
"You leavin? Prolly shouldn'" He reached up a sore arm to scratch his nose, groaning a bit as he eyed his IV. He wondered if he was up to climbing out of bed like her... Then again, making yourself weightless did make things a lot easier for her.
"S'not like they don't know who you are... Gonna get a bill either way." He coughed into his hand before dropping it back once more.

In his half delirious state it all happened in a flash. He saw the light. He spoke, he looked toward the light, she said something he didn't quite register, and then he was weightless and moving through space like a leaf caught in a windshield...
Suddenly he was alert, his eyes darting about as he took in the situation. She was holding him, and sprinting across the scorched landscape at breakneck speed. It was hot... her exposed areas had to be burning, but her strange abilities seemed to stave off the heat... or be separate from it in a way. All of it was... bizarre. He slipped out again and by the time he came too once more they were nearing the light.
It felt like some time had passed, Juniper was gasping for air. She fell, and he was tossed a bit as they both became solid, and he rolled to a stop. He looked up as she told him to go...
Like hell.
Gritting his teeth, the X-Man powered through the exhaustion, the pain, and climbed to his feet, taking a few laborious steps toward her. "Not... Without... You."
He reached down to grasp her tightly in his hands, and then squinted toward the light...
With a muted thud he pushed all of his collected energy into the ground, and flung them toward the bright light, losing consciousness as he went.
***
BWOOMF!
They were on the street corner, at the edge of a busy street corner. He looked up from his laying position to take in the surroundings in a sort of panic. They were in New York.
The pitch black box they'd existed in these last few days... got to you. The howling wind outside, the uncomfortable heat, and the bleak darkness made one wonder if you were actually talking to someone else, or halucinating.
Maybe she was asleep. Maybe she was already dead. She didn't respond for quite some time, if she'd even talked to him in the first place. Either way, he'd just casually stated a secret about himself that he'd never told anyone who wasn't directly involved in it.
And it didn't matter.
She spoke again. He listened. He sat. He drank. He slept.
She spoke more, more than it sounded like she'd spoken to anyone in some time. She did just what he'd suggested. Dump it all now to be free of it for what ever was next. He was mostly quiet. He could tell she still had a little water, hearing it sloshing around occasionally as she took a sip.
Good.
He was out. It wouldn't be too long, now.
She admitted that she'd tried to die. She said she was only good at failing. He spoke, his voice graveled through dehidration. "Yeah... I know... I know, kid..." He nodded slowly, allowing sleep to take him once more. Maybe for the last time.
And yet... He woke up. His eyes squinted in the presence of an intense light, bright enough to shine through the cracks in the barrier he'd made at the entrance to this place. "Wh... June..." He slowly climbed to his feet, every joint complaining as he liften his dwindling frame up with a pained grunt... He made his way toward the entrance, looking back toward her.
"Back toward camp..." Illuminated, he looked.... rough. His lips were cracked and dry, he'd lost weight, and some muscle mass as well. Confused, he turned and tried to make out the source of the incredibly bright light.
That settled it. They were waiting out the week to spite god. "If you manage, I'm down for it... I've had enough bugs, lizards, birds, leaves and mushrooms for a life time." Then came the last chuckle they'd hear for some time.
He listened to her silently, staring toward the cave entrance as she spoke about her mindset before they'd ended up here. Huh. Seemed like this was all pretty convenient for her, wasn't it? Not so for him.
He took another sip.
Just like that, he sat, sipping here and there, sleeping, maybe? It was all blurring together. He recalled awakening to hungry stomach, and not too long after hearing a question ring out in the darkness. A moment of silence.
"Yes. I think I was... your age, maybe a bit younger, the first time. And I did. He killed my friends, and nearly killed me. When I woke up, I found him, and returned the favor... Wish I could say it hadn't been worth it... from there? It wasn't ever really personal most of the time. I've probably killed over a hundred people. Lost count."
What was the point of lying? Hell, he could hardly tell if she'd actually asked the question, or he'd just imagined it. In a moment of clarity he had the presence of mind to ask; "Why?"
He watched her set the water aside, and spoke firmly. "They find dead people in the desert with full cantines. Drink when you are thirsty."
He nodded silently as she mentioned wanting to punch god in the face. "Yeh... I get it. More than you know, I get it." They had to face it. Who ever... what ever he, she, it... was. They were an asshole. They deserved a punch so hard it could kill a god.
He couldn't help but smile a bit when she mentioned figuring she'd die before twenty. "Heh... I figured the same thing when I was your age. Huh... figure we might be able to stretch it a week if you wanna give god one last middle finger." He chuckled hollowly as well, looking over the situation. They would have to keep activity down mostly. The oxygen was super thick here, so even with clouded air they would be fine... Still, it tended to suck the moisture out of you normally, so water would be the biggest challenge in the coming days.
Was it futile to stretch it? He looked up to her as she asked if he was okay. "Eh... Guess I sorta made peace last week when... You know... What about you..." He took a sip from a water skin he'd been carrying. The temp seemed to be holding for now. At least the rising heat from the fires might keep them warm at night as well. Silver linings.
She asked about making a break for the water, and he shook his head. "Eh. From the breeze, it came from the south, but there still might be a tidal wave. Think this might be the best we can do..." He sighed again, and pushed the cover shut further, turning to retreat further in where it wasn't quite as hot. He took a quick seat next to the remains of the fire they'd set several days ago.
His eyebrows wrinkled a bit at her explanation of the events. "Uh... I dunno about that, but sure. A big rock hit the earth and... Not a lotta things survived." He checked on their supplies again, quickly, handing her one of the water skins she'd made, and sitting nearby, leaning his head back against the wall as she asked if it was the end.
He replied with a silent stare for a second, before looking off to the side.
"You, eh... You gonna be okay?" Well, neither of them would be, likely. Still. She seemed like she wasn't soaking this in. Or rather, she was numb to their likely demise. It didn't sit right with him.
The cave had been a perfect temporary shelter. They had outlasted the storm, ventured out to gather up the bundle he'd left(Unfortunately the only survivor was his now bent crowbar.), brained a cured the hide, and built up a new shelter over the course of a week.
Things started to return to the closest semblance to normal, here. They talked a little bit more than they had been. Camp didn't seem so awkward and tense... Still, they were just keeping busy staying alive for the most part...
Until there was a loud explosion. It was strange... Distant, but still rumbling and massive. The ground shook violently for just a moment. Their first thought had been the mountain had gone, but it was fine at a glance.
It was minutes before a great breeze began, relentless, and nearly scaldingly hot. They were forced to retreat to that familiar cave, where the hot air could only filter in slowly. Quickly, they covered the entrance as the dust clouds soon followed.
It all happened so quickly, and here they were once more. Saphirus sat in from the cave entrance peeking through a small gap in the barreir they'd set up, sweat already covering his brow.
"The forest is catching, out there.... I can see the smoke... #@$%... Couldn't have been anything else..." He ran an arm across his forhead and looked back to Juniper. How long could they hold out here? It was getting hotter. They had a little bit of water. Still, if this was what he thought it was...
He cursed under his breath as he clenched his crowbar helplessly.
