The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Aleksandr was very careful in his attempts to not trip up the bidders and the auctioned as he moved gracefully around the room. It was difficult at times to pay attention to all of his bulk when in such a crowded place, but for the most part the other individuals milling around seemed aware enough to step over or around the coils of scaled flesh that moved across the floor. That was just one advantage to living int a mutant residence: They knew what to watch out for when it came to the more unusual mutations.
A familiar voice caught his attention as it addressed him, causing him to pause just before he'd decided to take a glance at the bidding sheets. He turned toward the voice and smiled down at the young lady that had greeted him. It was the young gargoyle mutant that had been unfortunate enough to get swept up into some anti-mutant nonsense when she'd run into him at the park not too long ago. Of course, that wasn't the only reason he remembered her. She was a lovely little thing and he could hardly forget such a wonderful visible mutation.
"Ah! Preevyet, Gina!" he greeted, fading in and out of his native tongue yet again without paying the slip any mind. He adjusted his height just the slightest bit so he wasn't unreasonably taller than she was. He may have been holding himself a little too high while he'd been showing himself off.
"So far, is good. I am ready for auctioning, yes. The spotlight does not frighten me. Is where I should be, like every mutant," he continued, wishing he had the option of offering her a drink or something. The poor girl looked so tense. "And I am seeing that you are looking as lovely as ever. You make your dress look so pretty, and I am seeing your face now with your hair up. You are putting the other girls to shame."
He gave a grin, but his words were sincere. There was nothing wrong with paying compliments where they were due, even if he did have a tendency to lay it on a little thick. He was a firm believer in showing off what someone's genes had given them. "Is there maybe a young man you are to be bidding on?" he questioned, his grin turning just the slightest bit devilish. One way to get the ladies to stop worrying so much was to turn their attention to something else. Focusing on potential romance was always a decent distraction. "Or maybe there is young man you are hoping to bid on you?

The idea of a mutant auction had both surprised and delighted Aleksandr. He hadn't expected to see such an activity in a mutant school, but at the same time it was a good way for both the kids and the young adults to spend an afternoon and have some fun. It was always nice to have a break from studying and mingle with friends. All the giggling some of the girls did over the prospect of winning a bid and taking one of the boys out on a date was rather amusing, too.
Of course, the snake man couldn't let such an activity pass by him without getting involved. He lived for the spotlight, and what better way was there to put himself in one than to volunteer as a bachelor for the auction? He hadn't wasted very much time in contacting a young miss by the name of Katrina who had been hustling all over the place in order to advertise and orchestrate the whole event.
Suits were out of the question. Not only would it look silly in the shirt and jacket without the matching bottom half, but the serpentine mutant had been without clothing for a couple of years by that point and wasn't about to start wearing them again. They weren't very comfortable, especially when the tails on his head began to get tangled in the collar. Besides, the whole point of the auction was to show off, and how could he do so properly if he was partially covered?
He opted for a simple bowtie to preserve some of the effort put into making the whole thing look classy and made a mental note to Google 'Chippendale' in his spare time. He'd never heard of it before, but apparently a few Mansion Residents thought the resemblance was uncanny.
Obediently he waited with the other contestants and proudly strutted his stuff when his assigned number had been called. Aleksandr was not a shy mutant. He lingered on the makeshift stage perhaps just a few seconds too long before gliding off to the ground level for some mingling.

There was a bit of a buzz going around the Mansion concerning a little get together that some Mutant Social Services organization was putting together. From what he'd heard it was some sort of charity or donation event or something. One of those raise awareness kind of things. At least, that's what he'd gathered. Aleksandr's information hunting consisted largely of lazing in front of a roaring fireplace and eaves dropping on the conversations kids were having in passing. It was so hard to drum up the energy even to slither around the large building during such a gloomy season.
A social had sounded like just the thing to lift his spirits a bit and to, at least temporarily, relieve him of the cabin fever he often fell victim to during the colder months. He very rarely ventured outdoors when the temperature dropped. It was much too miserable an experience. However, for a little fun, he could brave the chilly pavement and the cold bus ride to the destination printed on the invitation he'd managed to find lying around.
A glass of wine was definitely his top priority once he'd slid off the street and into the designated building. He was more of a vodka drinker, as certain stereotypes would have demanded anyhow, but a couple glasses of wine could warm the blood just as well. And the glasses were so lovely. He made a mental note to be extra careful while carrying it. Not only would he be terribly embarrassed if he were to drop it, but there was also the unpleasant thought of broken glass working its way between his scales. No thank you.
Casually he drifted off to one side of the room to observe for the time being. He'd begin mingling a little when more guests arrived and he'd had a bit more wine. A little liquid courage couldn't hurt when there were so many feet to tread on his lovely tail and discourage too much movement.

Dad huffed and puffed but he was slowly realizing that he wasn't going to get anywhere with the pair of officers that had chosen to respond to his call. Things really had gone to hell since the Registration Act had stirred up so many mutant sympathizers. Used to be that people didn't questions a citizen in distress when something like a giant snake and some bat thing snatched up a kid. Maybe this would be the thing that finally convinced his wife that he was right in wanting to move out of New York. It was also probably time to invest in one of those child harnesses.
With a lot of mumbling and grumbling, he took hold of the mother's upper arm, as her hands were occupied with the child, and rather briskly began to stroll away with the pair in tow. Maybe he'd complain to the department head later on, if he wasn't busy packing. In any case, he was done arguing with the pair, and he certainly wasn't going to continue the conversation with the mutants on the lawn. He wasn't about to thank the officers for their time, either. They hadn't done a single thing to help him out. Instead he chose to end the conversation without so much as a farewell.
Aleksandr continued to remain relatively still until the small family stormed off and left the officers standing off by themselves. It wasn't until they were a good distance off that he decided it was safe enough to really begin moving. He didn't need the Big Bad Daddy Wolf shouting that he was under attack or something for a thing as harmless as the snake man getting up.
Giving Gina's shoulder a light, reassuring pat, he ceased to recline and pulled himself up to standing height, adjusting himself to a height that seemed appropriate in comparison to the two officers. He didn't need to be too tall. That could potentially be imposing and create the wrong impression. It was probably easier to find him to be a friendly creature when he was curled up as opposed to towering over an individual.
"You have my thanks," he stated as he approached the pair of officers, offering a small bow in his gratitude and smiling. It was nice that things had gone so favorably after the Registration had folded and life in New York gradually shifted back to normal. It was fortunate that some mutant friendly cops had shown up. Things could have gone very differently otherwise, and it would have been a real hassle. "Is nice to see neutral mediators."

Aleksandr gave a nod and another smile to the lovely young officer as she thanked them and requested that he and his companion stick around for just a little bit longer before heading back over to rejoin her partner. That wouldn't be much of a problem. He hadn't planned to go anywhere just yet anyhow. The sun felt just as nice when he was in trouble as it did while he was simply relaxing. Speaking of which, he shifted his coils once more to sun the patches of scales that have been covered while he'd spoken to the officer. He settled back down quickly enough, making sure that there was still a loop in the grass around his young companion to keep her at ease.
Back with the small group of parents and child, the father still wasn't pleased with the outcome thus far. The mother continued to keep some sort of constant contact with her child, occasionally cooing in an attempt to calm the small individual that didn't need any calming.
No one doing anything wrong. The older man huffed at the very idea. Everything was wrong about the situation. He was quickly becoming the one at fault when it was those two oddities that should be getting drilled, not him. Like his kid really knew what was going on. Please.
"You don't really expect a little kid to understand a danger like that when he sees it, do you? Why do you think we have to teach kids not to talk to strangers? They don't know any better. And it's not like those two would admit to trying something underhanded."

Aleksandr felt a bit bad that he hadn't been quite fast enough to help Jude stay on his feet. Wasn't that one of the reasons he'd accompanied the young man and woman, to help see them safely to and from their destination? However, Jude didn't seem to be too upset about it and was instead rather amused at the reaction the snake man had gained from the grouchy driver. The reptilian mutant gave a bit of a smirk as he passed the driver's seat and slid down the steps onto the street. That's right. You don't mess with the snake man.
He waited patiently as Jude purchased his paper, being of little help himself in deciding which one was best to use. He didn't really know much about local news, and while he could read English rather well, the variety of reading material in and of itself would be enough to confuse him. The young adult, however, seemed to be able to make the appropriate exchange with a little help from the vendor.
He smiled rather brightly as Amber seemed to come around to the idea of shifting while Jude skimmed the paper. She didn't have to, of course, but it would be very interesting to see. He'd never seen a dinosaur shifter before, and here was a chance to get better acquainted with one. "I will make sure to let no one bother you for change," he offered. He could very easily fill up a section of alleyway or somewhere equally as cramped. No one would get past him until she had slipped into her scaly skin.
Turning back to the young man who posed the question, he glanced briefly at the paper. There was a lot of small print to read. He suddenly wished he'd though to pose the idea of bringing a pen or a marker for crossing out ads that were no good and circling potentials. "I think first is to be sure there is no thing in ad like 'Mutants need not Apply' or something more friendly for mutants," he offered.

Aleksandr waited patiently as the two officers questioned the couple. He continued to sit still and smile pleasantly as the young woman officer broke away from her partner and headed in his and Gina's direction. Lovely young women were easy enough to talk to, especially in a case such as this where he hadn't done anything wrong. Though he'd also have to try cutting back on his charm a bit. Laying it on too thick might work against him. Didn't want it to look like he was trying to butter her up and let him off the hook that way.
"Good afternoon," he greeted as she approaches, careful not to use a Russian greeting as he still had a bad habit of doing. His native tongue probably snuck into his sentences more often that was preferable for someone that was trying to integrate into a New York lifestyle. He continue to smile pleasantly and propped his elbows up on a length of tail behind him, letting his lower arms dangle. It would only benefit him if the young woman could see his hands at all times.
"Lovely young companion and I were relaxing and having conversation when child came over," he started, giving a small shrug. There really wasn't much more to it than that, but a little elaboration could only help. "Child came to see us. We are unusual pair. We entertained him for a moment and sent him back to angry parents." Angry parents who were still very angry at a glance.
The child, when spoken to by the male officer, suddenly became a bit shy, as children are prone to doing when a strange adult addresses them. He was still smiling, but his squirming died down a bit and he pressed a bit closer to mom, his fingers finding their way partially into him mouth as he looked slightly up at the officer that had crouched down.
"I played," he began, his words somewhat mumbled and jumbled because of his hand, but still generally understandable. He'd gotten bored when his parents had stopped to chat with someone and he'd run off for a minute. Honestly, how did they have any fun at all when all they did was talk? "I saw the people and, uhm, I went to see, and then, uh, we played. They look funny." Eloquent.

And so the boys in blue arrived. Or, in the case, the boy and girl. It was a rather pleasant surprise that there were only two responding officers to the family's emergency call. He figured there'd have been at least three cars for something like a giant snake and a gargoyle terrorizing the Park's youth. It seemed that perhaps there would be an attempt at reason before any serious action was taken.
Aleksandr remained in his recline, giving a grin and a wave when he noticed the young man glance in his direction. He wasn't at all worried about this little predicament. He was more concerned for his lovely young companion who seemed to be inching closer to him the closer the authorities got.
As the officers moved off to speak with the family, he end of his tail snaked out from the rest of his coils. Carefully he curled it in a loose perimeter in the grass around the young gargoyle girl. He wasn't touching her and left enough room for her to move around a bit. He wasn't trying to box her in, he was just attempting to make her feel a bit more secure.
The frightened family seemed much less patient waiting for the officers. The mother was practically smothering her kid she was holding onto him so tight and the father was still steaming and making a show of draping an arm protectively over his wife and glaring at the mutant pair that had endangered his child. Junior still seemed to be having the time of his life, giggling and wiggling and generally enjoying the newest developments in his little adventure.
"I already told you what the problem was over the phone!" the father snapped as the officer addressed him, clearly displeased that the mutants weren't already being hauled off in handcuffs. "Those things snatched up my kid! He's lucky he managed to get away before one of them ate him or something! My poor wife nearly had a heart attack!"

Aleksandr did as he was told and released the squirming youth, leaving him to the punishment of the other young man in charge. The snake man didn't need to be causing any more problems at the moment, so he'd do as he was instructed. He would be in trouble if he got kicked out of the Mansion for something like this, and left out in the cold. He tried not to shudder at the thought.
"Eezveeneete. My apology," the serpentine individual offered, still looking a bit sheepish and curling in on himself a bit after the other young man had finished scolding the troublemaker. "Mouse boy ran." he tried, not entirely sure if the man in charge would understand the implications. Sometimes his predatory side was just to much to keep in check. "I will be helping to clean. I did not mean to be trouble."

Aleksandr didn't mean to break anything. Once he'd realized the level of damage he'd done, he'd likely feel pretty bad about it and offer to clean it all up. He couldn't help the fact that he took up so much room and that his bulk could be problematic moving around furnished interiors at such speeds. If the kid hadn't run, maybe he'd have been able to avoid causing so much damage. But things had gone in another direction.
And then he was being yelled at. And pointed at. He hadn't done anything to the kid. Not yet, anyhow. Rather sheepishly the snake man looked away from the wriggling youth in his grasp and over to the other young man. He didn't let go of the nekked boy just yet in case the kid tried to bolt again, but he wasn't eying him rather hungrily anymore, either.

Aleksandr looked rather surprised at the explanation that Amber couldn't sit out in the sun. How awful. He could hardly sit inside away from the sun during the colder months without going crazy. But to have to avoid such a luxury for an entire lifetime had to be unbearable. He had to repress a shudder at the thought. At least now they knew why she wore so many layers.
He couldn't help but smile a bit at her comment about normality. It was true, bipeds certainly had it easier than he did in some situations, but walking through revolving doors and squeezing into cars wasn't all that important in life. "Is difficult at times, but is not that bad. If I had choice, I would choose mutation every time. I have pride in being mutant." No point in lamenting over the possession of such beautiful scales.
The snake man appreciated the smaller adult's enthusiasm in trying to get Amber to come out of her shell a bit. He seemed to be the kind of person who would fully embrace his mutation as well as those of others. That was always refreshing. "If you have desire to change, I will provide for you some cover," he offered to the dinosaur mutant. "Very few people will bother giant snake."
He did his best to keep out of the way and shift his weight for anyone getting on or off the bus. There seemed to be more people doing the latter, though that fact didn't particularly bother him. It just meant he had a little more space to occupy. From the sound of the announcements given by the driver, they were getting close to their destination. Hopefully they could find what Jude was looking for without too much difficulty.

This girl had some spunk. Aleksandr appreciated that quality, especially in mutants. It was so common for some mutants, particularly those with physical oddities, to be easily cowed by the aggressions of other people, especially when a threat of bringing in the authorities was introduced.
The snake man simply grinned, keeping an eye on the family that had called the cops. They may back off, but they wouldn't be leaving just yet. The police would need their account of the story before they could really do anything. They weren't likely to believe the story as the serpentine gentleman and his lovely young companion told it. But that was their problem.
Aleksandr increased his recline just a little bit, listening as the sirens got closer. The police would be approaching them very soon, from the sound of it. So be it. "I do not plan to be going," he replied easily, brushing a loop of tail out of his face and into the rest of the mass on his head. "Police do not frighten me."

Aleksandr certainly didn't miss the compliment that Jude threw out while trying to convince Amber that she should demonstrate her abilities for them. The kid sounded like he could be a regular charmer if he really wanted to be. In any case he seemed to know the right words to use to get on someone's good side. The snake man certainly liked him even more now. Company was so nice to keep when they acknowledged his stunning looks. He would be sure to compliment the tiny twenty-one year old if the chance presented itself during their trip.
He let the other two on the bus ahead of him, offering the small adult his thanks when a ticket was bought for him. Having no pockets, he didn't carry change for himself and likely would have been left behind or left to catch up later on this little adventure had Jude not been such a little gentleman.
Very carefully he wriggled his bulk through the doors and into the interior of the bus. He wouldn't be sitting, of course. For one thing there were ladies and elderly present that his seat could be of better use to, and for another thing more of his body hung off seats than actually on them, so it really didn't make too much sense to occupy more space than was needed.
Instead he occupied most of the standing space between the seats, coiling his bulk in on itself to make himself as small as he could without accidentally resting a section of tail on someone's lap. There would, of course, be disgruntled passengers either way, but most people thought twice about trying to start a fight with a giant serpent.
Situating his more human half near his two companions, he settled himself in for the ride, however long it may be. "I look human once," he replied to Amber, brushing a tangle of tails off one of his shoulders and away from the metal poles and hanging hand grips that they could get wrapped around. "I am mutant for maybe four years. When did you become mutant?"

Aleksandr listened with quiet interest as Jude explained some aspects of psychics and the professions they could be employed in. It all sounded fairly interesting, though the snake man wasn't so sure he'd want to be able to read other peoples' minds. It seemed like it could sort of take away from the excitement of meeting new people and getting to know them. Plus he loved his scales so much he'd hate to be without them now.
Shifting his attention to Amber as she was asked about her mutation, he quirked a brow curiously. Now that was different. He'd never head of a dino-shifter before. He wondered what kind of dinosaurs she could change into. Perhaps he'd be lucky enough to catch sight of it someday.
He smiled brightly at her when her attention shifted to him. "I am sure scales are very lovely to be on you," he replied, careful to navigate around the other pedestrians that were passing or gathering to wait for the bus. "If there is snake form, I can be helping you with learning to move. If is necessary."
