The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Aleksandr made a point of joining Amber in silently appreciating the colorful dinosaur printed on the front of the tiny twenty-one year old's shirt. They were giant reptiles, after all, and as such he felt that he had some level of understanding of them, as well as some level of respect. He was a snake, but he was in a way distantly related to such creatures as crocodiles, which in a sense were modern day dinosaurs.
He allowed Jude the mini adult and Amber to walk ahead of him as they headed in the direction of downtown to procure a paper. He thought about suggesting they find one for free in the Mansion somewhere, but Jude seemed so determined to be out and about that he kept the idea to himself. "What is job that psychic can have?" he asked, curious as to what kind of work the psychic-in-training might have in mind.

A rather short twenty-one year old out for some early morning job hunting. That certainly hadn't been the answer Aleksandr had expected. Kids often pretended to be older and played at performing the duties of a profession they desired to have once they were older. It wasn't so often that a child actually set out to seek employment.
"Is not always I am seeing such small adult," he commented, figuring he'd humor the kid if nothing else. The little traveler would be back at the Mansion at the end of the day, so there was no harm in letting him indulge himself with the mission he'd assigned himself.
Glancing back at the young woman, who introduced herself as Amber, he gave a little dip of his head, smiling at her willingness to let him escort them through the city. He didn't really know his way around, but at least he could be there to discourage most trouble people might mean to cause for a young woman and small twenty-one year old.
Instead of shaking the hand that was offered in greeting, he gently gripped her gingers and turned her hand palm down before dipping to place a kiss on her knuckles, as was his habit when meeting young women. "Is pleasure to be meeting you. I am Aleksandr."
Turning back to the young man, he thought on the posed question. He couldn't say that he'd heard of anyone looking specifically for psychics, nor particularly small ones. Then again, he wasn't really one for job hunting. "I am not hearing of any psychic search," he replied. "You have tried newspaper, maybe?"

"Both are too young for the other?" Aleksandr said, grinning at the thought of it. He suspected the veiled young woman might say as much, but for the younger boy to say so was rather amusing. So much for saying the wrong thing and getting him to blurt out his true intentions. He supposed he'd have to stick around a little bit longer and find out what was going on. Very well. He enjoyed strolling.
While his attention was mainly focused on the early morning escapee, he hardly ever missed it is someone were looking his way. At least, he thought the young woman was looking his way. With eyes that were completely black, it was difficult to tell where exactly her gaze was focused on, but he wasn't about to let the possible attention slip past him. He grinned a little wider and gave her a wink, his chest puffing out just a little bit, mostly out of habit.
"Natural modesty is good to make up for lack of clothing," he commented at the young man's quip. Aleksandr used to try wearing shirts, but they all tend to look a little silly on him perhaps with the exception of wife beaters. But why would he go to the trouble of covering up such gorgeous scales? That was just silly.
"Was not intention to stop you," he assured the little traveler, his attention easily caught by his unusual accent. It made his own thick Russian accent seem a little less out of place in his mind. "But lovely young lady and independent but young man will have need of chaperon in large city. Is what I will do for you."

Yes it was early, and yes it was rather overcast, but Aleksandr would be damned if that stopped him from lazing about outside the moment the sun was supposed to have been up. He was determined to spend as little time indoors as he was able until such a time as he no longer felt so claustrophobic within the Mansion walls. Plus, the moisture in the air was good for his skin and very refreshing after lying around in all the dry heat pumped into the school during the winter months.
After getting used to the chilly dew on the lawn, he'd settled into a pile of coils in the sunniest spot he could find. Fortunately that patch of awn also happened to be right near the Mansion's outer wall so he could press his scales against the stone and soak up whatever heat it had managed to absorb thus far.
A thump on the ground a short distance off sounded just loud enough to catch his attention. He opened on eye and glanced around before sitting up and stretching with a wide yawn. Nothing yet, but he had definitely heard something. Maybe it was a rabbit or a rat or something that had wandered onto the grounds. Breakfast sounded good to him, and a little challenge catching it was always welcome.
However, when he slid his way around the corner of the school, all he saw was a little biped casually strolling through the gates. That couldn't be right. Were younger students allowed to wander off by themselves, especially at such odd hours? Of course Aleksandr wasn't a teacher, so he wasn't entertaining ideas of punishment or any such thing. He was merely curious.
Straightening himself out to raise his height from stalking level to a higher, more casual level, he glided after the youth, pausing only a moment when he was beaten to the punch as a well covered young woman apprehended him first.
With a small grin and a flick of his tongue he resumed moving, putting himself a bit closer to the pair. "Is a bit early to be meting girlfriend, nyeht?" he asked, grinning a bit wider. Kids were easy enough to get answers out of when assumptions were made about their actions. Particularly the younger boys when girls were involved.

Aleksandr chuckled again at the child's antics. Kids were always so fascinated by mutants with visible oddities, and having five siblings the snake man had spent plenty of time with kids and how they reacted to his kind of abilities once they'd manifested. Of course they were all older than this particular child, but that didn't matter all that much in his mind. Kids were kids.
Looking away from the distraught couple and back to Gina and their new playmate, he gave a small shrug. "First thing is first," she started, sitting up and prodding carefully at the child's ribs in order to incite a small giggling fit and make him release her tail with his wriggling, "Child must be returned."
Once the gargoyle girl's lovely tail had been released, the snake man easily lifted the child and turned him around to face his parents before setting him back down again. The kid of course thought this was all great fun and his squealing laughter kicked up again throughout the process. Lowering his face to about shoulder height for the child, he pointed toward the couple, making sure she kid followed with his gaze. "Go to see mama and deda," he prompted, smiling and giving a little wave to the parents as the child squealed delightedly once more and quickly toddled toward them, most likely to relate his daring tale to them in a language they couldn't entirely understand.
Making a show of reclining once more, he watched the mother bolt for her child once he'd reached a safe enough distance. Daddy was busy trying to relocate his pocket so he could shove his phone back into it while at the same time following after his wife. He was also putting on a bit of a show. Big man watching over his family. Some protector. Couldn't even approach a pair of mutants to reclaim his own kid.
Aleksandr cocked his head to one side curiously, able to catch the echo of a siren some distance off. Somewhat impressive that the police still rushed to crime scenes, particularly after some stories of rampaging mutant the snake man had read in a few papers. Perhaps the mention of a snake instead of that bow-wearing terror of a mutant that was in so many papers was what made all the difference.
"Is still time to make getaway. But will not be hard to track mutants like us. You might be having to fly after all," he commented, grinning once again and giving another little wink. He wasn't so worried about it himself. He liked the attention, and most of the time it was too much of a hassle for the police to find a transport big enough to haul his bulk anywhere for them to bother. Plus, he hadn't done anything wrong.
"Park is big enough to hide mutants. We maybe can play game of hide and go seek."

Hallways did not make for easy navigation when one was Aleksandr's size. He was flexible enough to take tight corners and maneuver around the odd shapes of furniture, but being in the rush that he was such movements were leading to more uncomfortable scrapes and strains against his scales than he'd have normally endured. And more than a few overturned chairs, tables, and whatever decorative odds and ends they might have been holding up.
Oops. They could be swept up later, right?
Not that the snake man particularly cared. He was much too focused on the bare back of the delinquent he was pursuing to care about any potential damage he was doing. His predatory instincts had been stroked just the right way and he wasn't going to be slowing down until his target had been caught.
Unfortunately for the nekked young man, Aleksandr was much faster than any normal biped, the bulk of his body being nearly pure muscle to use in propelling himself.
The snake man manages to snag the mouse boy by the ankle as he went to turn a corner, dragging him back into the hallway kicking and screaming all kinds of indecent things. The scaly young man simply grinned and trapped the size shifter among his coils.
His hand clamped firmly around the streaker's upper arm while the rest of his body was cocooned by his scaled tail. He only squeezed a little. Just to make sure the kid knew he meant business. There was no way he'd eat him at the size he was now.
His bulk filled the width of the hallway from one wall to the other as he curled up and debated what to do with his catch. How much trouble could he get it for damaging the kid? A bite for a bite sounded fair enough to him. Hmm.

Nod, nod. "Rallies in Russia have many mutants, but every day is not so many. I was well known mutant in St. Petersburg. Not so many have looks like me. Popularity is nice, but is also lonely," he replied, stretching one arm out to untangle his wrist from a pair of tails that had snaked around it. "Bigger mutant population is one reason I move here." Also to give his family the space it required to regain some sense of normalcy.
He smiled appreciatively at her offer of friendship, pleased that she found him entertaining enough that she wouldn't mind seeing him again around their shared home. It was a shame he hadn't run into her before. She was very pleasant company.
"Spas-" Well now what was this? He gave a bit of a puzzled look to his winged companion before sliding his torso closer to the ground and gliding a short way around the side of his coiled bulk. Blinking a moment in slight confusion, his expression quickly turned into one of amusement.
Someone nearby had lost track of their child who was now amusing himself by slapping his small palm against a patch of the snake man's scales. He couldn't have been more than three or four years old. Aleksandr assumed he belonged to the closest couple who were standing not too far away engaged in an animated conversation with a third party.
Looking back over his shoulder he gave the gargoyle girl a wink before rolling over on his back and flicking his tongue out at the child to catch his attention. The bug-eyed stare he got in return was priceless.
Pulling his head tails over to the opposite side of his body, lest they accidentally curl around an ankle or into the hem of clothing and incite a screaming fit, the serpentine young man then quickly settled down with one hand hidden beneath his head and the other resting on his chest.
Giving another playful flick of his blue tongue, he finally got the child moving away from his tail and closer to his upper body where he could keep a better eye on the kid and the parents could more easily spot him.
He grinned and cast a sidelong glance back at Gina as the child somewhat unsteadily made his way over, seemingly intent on investigating the odd tongue that had caught his attention. Aleksandr was careful to steer the little hands away from his face, lest they accidentally find his eyes or an uncovered fang. The kid seemed content to resume prodding at and slapping his hands against the odd flesh of the snake man's stomach.
"You like children?" he asked of Gina, giving a slight 'Oomph!' with a particularly rough strike from the kid. He glanced back at the miniature person when a delighted shriek was emitted, a deep chuckle reverberating through his scaled chest.
A slightly less pleased shriek sounded a short distance off. Apparently Mommy had finally realized her little bundle of joy had wandered off and had chosen some less-than-desirable playmates to investigate. Daddy very quickly had a phone in his hand. It wouldn't be long before he was stomping over to collect his child and likely try to start a fight. The phone was probably connecting to the police.
Aleksandr simply grinned even wider. "Parents do not like me so much," he commented, not particularly caring if a squad car showed up or if Daddy had some words to exchange with him. People rarely pursued fights with the snake man once he 'stood' up. And cops were easily enough dismissed. News crews were the really fun part. He loved having his face plastered in newspapers and chatting with the lovely young reporters.
What Gina might think of such things was a different matter. However, he wasn't in any particular rush to repair the situation.

"Pazhalooysta." A slightly devilish element entered Aleksandr's grin at her reaction to his compliments. Loving to be told so himself, he also knew that women liked being told they were pretty, though some were a little iffy when the sentiments were coming from a giant serpent such as himself. Gina didn't seem at all bothered by the way he looked, so she was free to enjoy them as she saw fit.
He was fairly good at reading body language in such situations and it wasn't hard to see that she was trying to hide a blush. Briefly he wondered what kind of color a grey-skinned individual would turn when they blushed, or if any color showed up at all. In any case his ego enjoyed being fluffed by such a response.
One brow quirked as she answered his question. "You live in Mansion?" he asked, grinning a bit wider, "I live in Mansion! I do not take classes, but I find is good place to live. I come to find more mutant activity and to escape Russian winter," he explained, pleased to meet someone else that resided in the school. He'd spent a lot of time grumping about by himself during the colder months. It was nice to meet someone pleasantly with the promise that they may run into each other again.
"You are enjoying Mansion?" he asked, shifting his bulk again to sun different patches of his scales. "Is nice to be part of such community. Is like big family. I am hoping to make more friends there."

Aleksandr nodded again. He had heard of California weather before, as well as weather in climates more suitable for someone with his toleration for the cold than New York's. It had been the mutant activity that had ultimately brought him to the city, though. He could put up with the winters for a while in exchange for some good mutie interactions. Particularly at the school where he could pass on his views on mutant pride to the younger students.
"There was Registration scare in Russia when I live there," he replied, readjusting his tail a bit so he could recline a little more and fold his hands behind his head among the slowly moving tails."Was big time for pride in mutant community. I see many parades and rallies by mutants. Was easy to grow own pride in such places." As we as learning to appreciate his own dashing good looks.
He smiled appreciatively as she denied his claim to being scary, particularly at the word 'cool'. He could work with intimidating, too. Particularly if it was in the context of how gorgeous he was."Spaseeba,"* he said, casually brushing a hand down the scales on his chest, as if ridding himself of some dust or something else that may have marred their lovely shine before placing it back behind his head. "I also do not think you are scary. Such lovely young lady should not be afraid to show off."
Gina. A lovely name for a lovely young woman. It would not be hard to remember. "Aleksandr," he said, offering a hand to her for a more formal greeting. Of course he wouldn't settle for a simple handshake. He was much more the type to place a kiss on a young woman's knuckles as a greeting.
"If you do not mind question, why do you move from California?"

"Is not as bad as Russian winter, but would rather be warm inside than out in cold, "Aleksandr replied with a small shrug, trying to make it seem like his cold-induced captivity wasn't all that big of a deal. In truth he was a bit of a drama queen on some occasions, but freezing to death seemed like a good reason to mope around indoors for the season. However, she didn't need to know about that little fear of his, nor how truly sensitive he was about the cold. He had to keep up appearances, after all, particularly in front of a lovely young lady.
He settled back down a bit as the conversation did and as the gargoylish girl took a seat. It looked like this one's nerve was stronger than most people's. Many could hardly keep their cool long enough to pass by him on the sidewalk, nevermind sit and have a chat with him. It was a pleasant change of pace, though he had to remind himself that mutants often weren't wary of other mutants like humans were, particularly those that had their own visible oddities.
"Is not easy to be comfortable in mutant skin, but is not impossible," he offered. He imagined mutations were a lot easier to deal with when they could be concealed. When something as simple as stepping out your front door draws everyone's attention, it's very easy to get unnerved and become isolated.
"Registration Act is long over. Mutants are more welcome in cities, nyeht? Humans are easy to scare, but they will be used to seeing flying if it happens often," he proposed, completely believing what he had to say. People weren't actively trying to get mutants locked up anymore, so they must have reached some kind of common ground where they could put themselves out in the open without fear.
Of course, he didn't expect the girl to take his words to heart immediately. If she was nervous, it would take time to get over it. "Will take practice, da. You do not seem to be scared easily. Big snake man is more scary than any human and you speak to one. You will find comfort with time."

Aleksandr couldn't help but grin a bit when the girl stopped so abruptly. It reminded him a bit of the rabbits he used to hunt when they froze to listen for him. She didn't look much like a prey creature. If anything, he'd pin her as a predator like himself, judging from the claws and the glimpse of pointed teeth given when she spoke. It made the image all the more amusing for him.
As she made her way closer, he moved to sit up straighter, his tail coiling up behind him. His grin changed into a gentler smile as he leaned the more human portion of his back against the pile of tail and raised his arms on either side of him to rest his elbows in a groove between coils, letting his hands dangle. He was putting himself is a pose more appropriate to carry a conversation in as well as attempting to put her more at ease. She couldn't have been too nervous if she was approaching him, but he knew from experience that initial bravery could sometimes wear off fairly quickly for those in his presence.
When she spoke again his expression changed once more, his smile growing very pleased and his back straightening a bit in his sudden excitement. Now here was someone that could sympathize with him and vice versa. "Da, da!" he replied enthusiastically, his Russian slipping into his sentences as per usual.
"Cold blooded," he said, gesturing to himself, "I cannot leave shelter in cold weather for very long. I prefer to stay inside where is warm. There is only so much to take before the stir-crazy." He'd nearly torn his tails out with boredom while he'd been cooped up at the Mansion. Spring couldn't have come soon enough.
Her hesitation to fly was a shame. Aleksandr was a firm believer in embracing one's mutation and enjoying it to its fullest, no matter what other people might think of it. "I think daytime flying would only be problem if you make trouble. If no trouble, there is no reason for panic." He gave a little shrug. The police couldn't really arrest her for gliding around, could they? Where was the crime in that? "People are uncomfortable to see me move by. Does not cause me any bother. I mind own business, they do not usually mind so much. Police may speak to me, but I cause no trouble."

Wonderful, marvelous, fantastic. Sunshine. It felt like it had been forever since Aleksandr had been so deliciously warm. Sure, indoors he could go the feline route and curl up in any patch of sunlight that fell through the windows and onto the floor, but in the winter it seemed to give off more light than actual heat, leading to more frustration.
He could also turn up the thermostat for his room, but he could only crank it so high before he imagined someone would get cranky about the heating bill. Besides, that was dry heat and too much of it dried his skin out and made his scales itch terribly. Compared to those options, sprawling out in the real sun was like a little piece of heaven.
Slowly, but constantly he was shifting his tail, looking to keep his flesh pressed into the warmer patches of grass after the sun on it had been obstructed by his body for a time and cooled the ground down again.
Only a few times when a stray child, and occasionally an older individual, wandered over would he pause and remain perfectly still, eyes closed after a quick peek. If they got close enough he began shifting again or maybe flicking his tongue out, aiming to startle the bold individual and grinning devilishly if they ended up jumping or squealing and bolting back to their families. Who said laying around had to be boring?
At the sound of another pair of feet treading on the grass, he fell fairly still again. They sounded fairly light and weren't giving off much vibration, though that wasn't saying to much. Loose ground was harder to read than pavement. In any case it sounded to be a smaller individual, though the steps weren't clumsy like that of a child. Not quite so bold, either, as they seemed to stop a fair distance away.
Unable to stifle his curiosity at the newcomer, one eye opened and swiveled in the direction he thought the steps had come from. He couldn't help turning his head and giving the young woman his full attention. With a curious flick of his tongue to catch her scent, he took in the sight of the gray girl. Horns, tail, oddly shaped feet and a rather impressive set of wings. Now this was interesting.
"Allo," he greeted, shifting onto his side and propping his head up in one hand, making it easier to keep her in his line of site as well as allowing the sun to reach his back. "You are out enjoying weather, maybe?"

Now that the weather's a little warmer, Aleksandr's no longer confined himself to the Mansion and is free to meet people that don't frequent the school.
Currently he's lazing about in Central Park and is up for meeting any interested parties here.

Finally!
Finally the Spring weather was warming up in preparation for Summer. People didn't have to wear jackets or sweaters out anymore on most days. Tank tops and shorts were becoming more and more common among those strolling around the City. Sunglasses and flip flops were making their appearances again.
And then there were those that were finally comfortable enough to venture outdoors period, clothing optional. Aleksandr never wore clothes anyhow. It was the whole cold blooded thing that had kept him indoors during the chillier weather. That, and his phobia of freezing to death.
But now that the weather was finally being cooperative for someone of his biological makeup, there was nothing that could keep him inside. He'd nearly torn his tails out waiting for winter to pass. There was no way he was going to spend a moment indoors unless he absolutely had to.
To celebrate his newly regained freedom, he decided he'd take a glide through Central Park where there'd be plenty of room for someone of his size to wander around and enjoy the sunshine.
That was probably the thing he missed the most. He'd been wanting to put a sunlamp in his room but in the excitement of his move to New York and the adjustments to settling in a new home, it had entirely slipped his mind until it was too late. He'd suffered long enough without the sun. He planned to spend most of his day soaking it up.
While he did spend some time slithering his way down various paved pathways, giving a greeting to those he passed, especially the lovely young women, his real goal was to lay about in one of the open fields. The pavement was nice in some places, the asphalt finally beginning to hold in some of the heat of the day, but unpaved ground was so much more comfortable on his scaled underside.
Once he'd selected a spot to settle down in, a good distance away from any other sunbathers and picnicking families, he sprawled out to his full length. No section of his scaled flesh overlapped itself as he settled into the grass, his aim being to soak up as much sun as he possibly could. Twisting just below his hip area so that his more human half lay belly up, he folded his arms under his head and the slowly moving mass of tails that covered it and closed his eyes. This was looking to be a good day.

A slight grin crossed Aleksandr's features when silence met his question of making the boy into an edible. That was almost as good as a 'go right ahead' wasn't it? Well, maybe not. But he was in a sour mood and mini mammals always looked to appetizing. Even the bipedal ones. He'd never eaten a person before. The thought of it seemed wrong. But mini people rubbed his predatory instinct just the right way.
Except when they didn't stay so mini.
It took a moment for his mind to register how heavy the kid in his hands was gradually getting.
