The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Gwen smiled widely, excited to meet the mysterious fellow. Sure, Gwen had talked some about him but he wasn't exactly the most common conversation they had. Gwen and Charlie had all sorts of conversations, of course, but mostly it was about their days, their love for one another, and so forth. Maybe it was because Gwen didn't really have that many friends. In either case, the heavy accent of British and Boston combination broke out as she nodded softly at the poor guy.
"I do apologize for startling you, sir. I just came to enjoy the morning garden, something I have been meaning to do for a while." She shook her head, "No, but we have seen each other." She didn't immediately respond to the handshake - she moved to curtsy before realizing she was following the etiquette of a dead time. She shook his hand softly. "I am Gwendolyn. Just Gwen, though." She gave another warm smile to the nervous man. "Charlie has mentioned you, of course."
She clapped a little at the mention of cats, "I do love cats! They are quite amusing and are absolutely lovely pets." She looked towards the garden, "Do you do this garden by yourself?" She asked, curiously. She wasn't exactly a green thumb. Probably more of a brown thumb, than anything.
Gwendolyn had woken up that morning in a particular mood. She wasn't entirely sure how to define it, but it just felt like a weird start of the day. She slipped out of Charlie's bed - her sweetness having already left to do Syndicatey things - and prepared herself for the day. It was suppose to be a bit crisp, but ultimately a beautiful spring day. Little rain in sight, according to the weird square box. What was it Charlie called it again?
She shook her head. This morning she had decided to enjoy the garden - she hadn't been there before and wanted to take a small walk, maybe assist in some gardening herself. Her own family had some small gardens themselves, despite their merchant class. It was nice to just get into the dirt, pull the weeds. It was refreshing, calming, and in general a good relief of stress.
As such, she wore a green spring dress with a long brown coat. She curled up in it as she went to the garden, coming through the side gate. She stopped, taking a deep breath of the surrounding air. Gardens always smelled amazing. Well, almost always. Some of the fertilizer modern man used smelled something awful. In defense, though, didn't smell good in her time, either.
She noticed a man... It looked like the What do you call them? Owner of the building? Landkeeper? She really needed to go back through her vocabulary. Actually, wasn't that even a word that was used in her time? She sighed, wondering if she was losing it.
With a small smile, she carefully came up to the man and gave a little wave, "Good morning! I believe you are Ezra...?"
Gwen hadn't been to a party since her time in the 21st century. In fact, besides doing some missions and/or working, plus spending time with Charlie, she really hadn't done much socializing. She did some help for Jess's and her sisters shop, of course, but otherwise, her attention was on her duties to the Syndicate & being with Charlie.
Gorgeous, beautiful, amazing Charlie. Gwen wasn't sure how she got so lucky to find a gal like her, but she did. And the fact that Charlie brought her with her as her date made Gwen feel all sorts of tingles. Plus, getting to see Charlie in the black dress made Gwen feel all sorts of happy ways. She was left idling by the door, but Gwen did step into the party room. Although, she did stay next to the door. She didn't really care about anyone else at the party, after all. She didn't even recognize any of the faces except for Jorge Cervantes, Poseidon. Her boss. Charlie's boss. The organizer of the whole thing. Wow.
Gwen herself had probably went a little too far in terms of her dress. She wore an elegant ball gown, one that was long, white & cream, and in her opinion, beautiful.
Charlie had made a hair fun of her for her outfit - it was a hair old fashioned of a dress, after all. Gwen loved the dress, though, and Charlie did seem to find it beautiful - at least, beautiful on her. Surely, others wouldn't be too upset over her outfit. Hopefully, anyways.
Seeing Charlie come back over with her drink, she began to slowly move to meet her. She took the drink and leaned into Charlie as she put her arm around her waist. Her skin tingled as she felt Charlie's breath on her ear, and the compliment itself. "I mean... I cannot even take my eyes off you, I am not sure how I am supposed to interact with others myself." She would whisper in return.
Gwen couldn't help but let her eyes memorize each feature of Charlie's face. It was confusing, but a good kind of confusing, the way Charlie made her feel. Before, in her time, she never thought she felt like this for anyone. Now, though she could feel herself... Falling for her, somehow. There was truly no other explanation.
With a deep breath, she beamed. She had progressed greatly since first being transported into this time. She knew how to do things the way any other person in this time did. Well, maybe that was a little overconfident, but she still felt like she was almost there. Besides, maybe, the car thing.
She listened carefully to Gwen after her little talk about wanting to continue to live with Charlie. She was a little worried she might not want her to be around, anymore. Any suspicions that that was true was quashed with her words though - which made Gwen smile even bigger. How could someone make her feel this happy? She shrugged a little, "Well, whatever it is, I am quite glad you like me around." She smiled before catching the waitress out of the corner of her eye.
Oh my. There was so much food, Gwen looked to Charlie and their eyes caught. For a moment, she felt a little lost. She quickly looked down, grabbed a fork, stabbing a piece of crispy ginger beef and taking a bite of it. It was... Actually, really good. She nodded as she chewed.
Gwen let out a blush ridden smile. She hated how Charlie found her silly. Well, did she hate it? She truly wasn't sure. She enjoyed watching Charlie laugh. Gwen found herself wanting to be silly just to see her smile. She had a beautiful smile. She sighed contently. Although, she did give a smirk at how Charlie wouldn't explain any of the items they were getting. What if she didn't like it? What if she loved it and wanted more of it? So many things to ponder in the meantime.
Gwen knew Charlie was doing her best to help her adjust to the modern lifestyle. She was doing a great job, too - there would be no way Gwen would be anywhere near ready to do any of this stuff without her. She really was her... Princess in shining armor? Knight in shining armor? Whatever someone would want to call it. She was truly grateful.
It was only a few minutes later that the waitress brought them some water and some sake. She grinned and raised it towards Charlie, "And to you, Charlie, for making it through that terrifying hell." She chuckled and took her sip. It was... Different. It wasn't her usual whiskey that she was use too. She actually took a small sip of water afterwards to help with the taste. She would have to say she still preferred her whiskey.
And then Charlie asked what she thought about everything. If she wanted to move. If she liked New York. One of those questions she wasn't too fond of. She smiled, "I... It's overwhelming, but I think I'm getting there. I think a couple more months and you will not be able to tell the difference!" She nodded a confirmation, "At least, I hope. I love it here. Particularly being here with you and all that." Her voice fumbled a bit, "I mean, thank you, Charlie, for your help." She took a breath and shook her head, "Not really. I like living with you."
Gwendolyn liked Charlie, even when she got into a funk. Sure, she was confused with whether she liked her as in she thought she was awesome or if she wanted to spend several nights in a bed with no clothes on with her. Life could get complicated, right?
She blushed at Charlie's reaction to her safe option. It was a safe option. She didn't really know what Chinese food even was or is. Well, she knew it existed but she had never had it. She almost certainly would never had had it in her time. She expected Charlie to take her care of her though - after all, she knew this world like the back of her hand. Heck, she'd been in it for a bit, too.
As Charlie brought the waitress over, Gwen kind of shrunk a little in her seat. It was weird having people come to her and take an order. She had to wonder when this custom began. It seemed... Interesting, and from what she could gather, they weren't paid nearly enough. Gwendolyn, however, stared at Charlie as she rattled off a bunch of food names she had literally never heard of. Ever. Lo Meen. Mein? Sekhuan? What in the world? Her lack of culture only made her blush turn reder.
She perked a brow at the mention of Sake. She believed she had heard that word in her time, or at least at some other point when she was in the modern era.
Gwen crossed her legs and grinned a little foolishly, "Okay, okay... I mean, what does it taste like?" Gwen wanted to be prepared for the sensory overload, after all.
Gwen was a little depressed but ultimately content. She had a new apartment, she still was working for the syndicate (which really might not be the best thing for her at this point in her life,) and she could drive legally in the state of New York. She sighed as she very badly paralleled parked. She stared at the tea house, which was slightly disturbing. Modern art was a strange, crazy concept that Gwen just couldn't get.
With a sigh, she stood out of her car, shut the door, locked the doors a couple times (better to be safe than sorry, after all.) She then ventured into the tea house. Clearly, she looked out of place as usual and quietly moved towards a seat. She wasn't even sure what type of tea to drink. Teas were so different than they use to be.
She did notice an interesting looking person in the tea house, though. They must have been a mutant, by the looks of it. At least this place wasn't a bigoted place. Hopefully, at least.
Gwen mentally nodded. Stephanie was right - women were still persecuted and it was still hard to be a business woman. It was just that Gwen couldn't convince herself that it was worth it. It may have been worth it to Holly, though, so Gwen shut herself up.
Gwen occasionally made a comment here and there about it. Once Stephanie was coming down the building she disconnected herself from her. She was careful to keep the photo of Stephanie's child safely in her hand until Stephanie showed up beside her. Stephanie jumped into the items - ready for Gwen to hop into them and see if she can find Holly. She perked a brow at the whisk and slightly shook her head. "First, please take the photo of your adorable child back. I worry I'll drop it or mess it up."
After that was taken care of, she took the items and felt for a connection to Holly. In an ironic twist, the datebook is actually what connected Gwen to Holly - Holly was in a meeting with some executives discussing sales. Routine CEO stuff at the moment. "Huh... This woman cares more about her job than whoever is in the photograph," Gwen scoffed, "No wonder some people think your times society is crumbling."
She watched as he placed the dresses back into the case. Once he did that, she decided to close it up. It was safer for it to be closed, in case someone broke in.
She nodded, "Okay... That sounds fine. Nice people, that is good." She nodded her head in confirmation. Nice people were always good. Especially considering she really had no idea what she was doing.
She nodded, "I do. I'm an administrative assistant for a CEO. I was quite fortunate and I was taken in pretty quickly after I arrived." She smiled, "Money isn't too big of a deal." That was her cover up, at least. She couldn't exactly tell people that she was a spy for the Syndicate and did her best to help mutant and human kind prosper together. She began walking towards the door, "I am so happy you can help me with this Javier. I appreciate it so dearly. How much do you charge per hour?" She wanted to make sure she compensated him for his time helping her, too.
She nodded. She was eager to go to another country. The only thing she was missing was her passport, so hopefully they wouldn't be hitting any immigration officers on their little visit to Europe. Not like it really mattered, she was sure she could count on Charlie to get them out if they were caught in a pickle. Well, hopefully, at least. Maybe she put too much trust in Charlie, but Charlie was her person. She had no reason not to trust her, after all.
She took a deep breath and looked towards him, hoping he wasn't about to just throw her threw and then not come through. That would be a big mess for her. In a country where she can't speak the language. It'd nearly be her getting transported into the future again, except maybe even worse. At least she could relatively understand everyone when she arrived here. That wouldn't be the case in Italy.
She took a deep breath and jumped into the energy tunnel. She closed her eyes and bit her lip as she flew through the portal. It wasn't painful, which was a nice surprise. She was expecting some pain. Not as bad as when she was transported into the future, but some type of pain at least. It was just a few moments later that she felt like she had stopped and... She slowly opened her eyes, them wide with wonder at their near surroundings. They were at the leaning tower of pisa. Remarkable!
She nodded slowly as she listened to Lee speak. Poor girl, it had to be hard doing so many things and raising a child. It gave Gwen an admiration for working, single mothers. In her time, they would have been in poverty no matter what. In this time, though, they worked hard, society accepted them, and they could make something of themselves. That was a great thing.
She nodded slowly, "Oh... True, I imagine you don't get very restful sleep in general, especially since you're stealing everyone else energy all day." She sighed. Sleeping was one of the few moments of freedom for Gwen - she enjoyed the dreams, the far off worlds that arose in her subconscious.
She gave a little smile towards Charlie, a soft blush on her cheeks. She felt like she would be lost without Charlie – despite her being a relatively crude person, she was still the closest person that she had. She was her best friend, her favorite person. No one else had come close to ruining that. Not to mention, all the butterflies that messed around inside her. She took a deep breath.
She gave another smile and it sent a little shiver down her back when she felt her hand on her back. “Good, I’m glad. Maybe time traveling will make me immortal too,” she mused playfully. She didn’t really believe that, but hey, no one knew for sure.
In front of the Chinese place, she wasn’t entirely sure. She carefully looked through the menu, unsure of what to really say. “Um… I quite honestly do not know what most of this is. I will take… The chicken and broccoli.” She nodded a weak confirmation, “I am sure this is the safest option.”
Gwen couldn’t help but smile at Javier. He was a friendly guy who clearly wanted to help her. She was lucky that she was able to find someone who would be willing to even try to help repair her dresses. She was skilled in a lot of it, but she was sorely lacking in repairs. Plus, she couldn’t find the fabric needed. Or if they even used the same type of fabric. There were so many different things in the world now, Gwen couldn’t keep up.
She gave a small shrug but with a smile, “I would prefer to find clothes now… The dresses, they can wait. They traveled through time, they can handle a couple hours being alone,” she mused playfully.
