A grin followed the comment. "Oh I don't know, if I'm not late enough to be marked down it's a good day." Alice failed to mention that by far she was a better student than she liked to admit. At most she skipped one set of lessons and that was English. Strangely enough, getting taught a lower level of English than she was used to was kind of pointless for her.

Great, cleaning toliets. That was going to be a pain. Best not get caught next time obviously. "How long's this going to be by the way. If the schools wasting my time I'd like to know how much." Right now she'd probably prefer sitting in detention doing lines.

Is this really what the school thought was an appropriate punishment for breaking curfew? Pick garbage up from the grounds with tongs sure, even having to help in the kitchen she could see but cleaning up after people in the bogs? That was going a little far. "Wait, didn't you say the person present picks the punishment? Was this your idea Big Chief?"

No, she wouldn't would she. Scratch that Jack would, especially with her catching Alice with booze and covering for her. She'd pick the worst punishment she could to hammer the point home. Shame the only lesson she was learning was hide it smarter, not to stop doing it in the first place. Sighing and gesturing forward, "Lead the way then, lets get the fun over with quick."

This would suck. A lot.

How could she not be nerding out at all the kit! It was glorious to see and her hands itched to be able to get a chance to check it out. It was like every gamers dream set up, with a bunch of top quality recording equipment added on for good measure and polished off with the proffesional veneer an actual company could give things like this. "Mhmm, It's pretty damn impressive, you've got some things I don't even recognise." Her eyes were glued to the equipment, like if she looked away it'd disappear suddenly.

"I can imagine, just seeing it is making the techie in me squeal with joy. I've seen some home based set ups but this, it's just....damn!" At least she wasn't focusing on the boss lady anymore. Much. Wait, was Vanessa her boss and did it even matter since she was that to the younger girl now. Her wish was Alice's command.

Awesome! Helping out one of her favourite content creators was a dream come true and it was only her first day here. God what would this internship be like and would she be able to come back when she finished school? Or during school, maybe. Once she started college having a job here would be an amazing boost to her finances and frankly, her cred on campus. "Can do boss, Nessa....I mean Vanessa." And we have flailing again. Well done Alice. Ducking her head slightly to hide the blush and getting to work checking the cables running to and from the PS4. It was all pretty simple to be honest, just a case of making sure the cables were actually in properly and only one gave her some trouble. Shame she'd forgotten techie 101, is it actually plugged in? It wasn't.

Popping her head up at the comment, she couldn't help but grin. "Oh I don't know, by British standards she barely seems unpleasant. Once you've done a round with stuck up cows in a state school, in a country that still has a very literal class system this is the kiddie pool." A lot of people outside the UK thought they were all prim and proper, never swearing and uptight about everything. They were so wrong. "If you want alpha b-----s try a drunk Geordie girl. She'd as soon stab you with her high heels as swear at you."

Northerns, they were weird. She thought her and her friends were foul mouthed, Jesus had their trip to York been a surprise. "But if I have to be a goner, I at least hope whoever this woman could possibly be is a looker. Pretty women make everything better." If Vanessa wanted to play, she'd happily do it. Even if it felt so weird being casual and yes, flirting a little with someone who'd kind of been a face on a screen for so long.

And the tanktop was cute on her. That helped. Alice might have bought one then and there is the boss recommend one.

Running one last round of checks on the task she'd been asked to do, and making sure the PS4 itself was turning on and running fine, she took a little step back. "That should be everything. I think. Might want to check it's recording a couple times and one of the cables is starting to fray a little inside but everything else should be good." Finally, all those years readying engineering magazines was paying off.

Mrs Worshahlai? Wasn't that the biology teacher. "She's the Hungarian one with the bright orange hair isn't she? Oh I could just see you with that colour hair, you'd look pretty damn good with it honestly although honestly you'd probably match any shade." She had that skin tone that went with pretty much anything. Unlike Alice who looked a bit too corpse like with black hair.

That was weird and kind of old fashioned. Where there really girls who still thought like that, only caring about guys and their looks? Nope, that wasn't for Alice, no one was pushing her into a marriage to just have kids and please her 'husband'. She'd die before doing that. "If that's what floats your boat cool, but guys aren't exactly what I'm into anyway so I'll do my own butt kicking for now. If I can just figure out flying I'll be most of the way to heroing." She kept her voice joking, not wanting to insult Allegra. Which was weird, she usually insulted everyone.

"She's got a really strong character in the game, she spends the entire game kind of being awesome, even if she's not the person you play. The entire point of the game is she's you characters daughter and you go through hell trying to find her and help her. And she holds her own with these really powerful guys, in fact she's probably one of the most powerful people in that world." So yeah, she kind of loved that game.

"The game she's in has the best written story I've ever played, honestly it's better than a lot of books I've read. There's just so much I love about her and the game that the first costume I make I want it to be special to me, you know?" Annnnnd she'd nerded out in front of the valley girl.

Smiling at her awkwardness, maybe it was a good idea to reassure Allegra she wouldn't try anything. "Don't worry girl, I'm only teasing. I know you're not into me that way, unless the gaydar needs re-calibrating."

"Mines pretty close to the kitchen, thankfully. Can't be running out of food in the middle of the night can I?" Had she mentioned her hunger side effect? Maybe? Ugh it was still early but if it came up she could always explain. Some of her female friends got a little jealous when they found out she could kind of eat anything she wanted without getting fat, but Allegra seemed the type to consider to downsides of it.

Once they'd reached her room and she silently thanked the stars she'd cleaned up, she let herself in and held the door open for Allegra to follow her in. It was fairly sparsely decorated at the moment, only one poster up she'd grabbed when Serena had gone into town with her. At least there was a TV she could hook the laptop up too. Get some wider screen gaming going.

Gesturing to the bed, "Make yourself comfy, I'll just get everything plugged in and we can start. Should be a good laugh."

Alice was already turning away when the voice broke through her self pity. Oh my god, she was french. She was tall and cute and french. Oh and she might be able to help her get a hold of drinks, maybe a little bit. OK girl, play this right and you might even be able to hang out with her, and get a drink as well.

"Cool, I can pay for them of course, yours too if you want. Only seems fair." As long as she didn't swear too much and reined in the sarcasm she might be able to get a hold of that sweet, sweet buzz she'd not had for, oh god had it really been more than two weeks?

She needed a drink, soon.

"I'm Alice by the way, nice to meet you," she supplied taking a closer look at the girl now that she was closer she knew she'd been dead on about her being younger. She was what, fifteen/sixteen? Chewing her lip slightly, she had to wonder what her new friend would look like in a few years. Tall women were kind of hot to be honest and if she was this tall now, what would she look like at twenty.

Shaking away those thoughts, maybe it'd be best to start with getting to know her before imagining her in four years time. Yeah, that'd be a good idea.

"You mind if I sit? Had a long walk and it seems a bit uncomfortable for you to be staring up at me."

Solar powered skin? Cool. Really cool. Way better than hers was and way more useful, especially for self defence. The most she could say is she wouldn't get lost, or run into a dead end. Yay. "Sounds pretty awesome honestly. Good analogy by the way, you play games much?"

Oh, yeah. Of course that would come up. Well fairs fair, he'd given her some details about his after all. "It's kind of always on. It's what like any basic HUD, health and hunger bars, compass and quest tracker as well as a minimap." That was pretty much the only useful bit to be honest. Knowing where she was had become force of habit, and she had pretty good spacial awareness now because of it.

"Also comes with a party system, for some reason. Oh and a skill list, so I know how good I am at anything. Sounds nice but its a pretty big drag to be honest." You got jaded about yourself when every activity was just grinding a level.

Oh s---, oh s---, she was late, for her punishment that she kind of deserved. Why did she stay up so late playing games, or more importantly, why the hell had her damn alarm not woken her up. She'd only managed to throw on her clothes, basic jeans, a vaguely nerdy t-shirt and her jacket stuffed full of energy bars. Great start to you time here girl!

After Big Chief had basically lied for her, something she was fairly sure she could lose her job for, she really didn't want to screw around with the chance she'd been given. Especially since she still kind of fangirled a little about her. Jack was just so cool.

Sprinting through the halls, dodging the occasional surprised classmate or teacher, most who'd probably never seen her move at anything more than a leisurely walk, she was soon getting close to their meeting point.

Sliding around a corner and seeing the hulking figure, she slowed to a more casual walk and gave a half wave as she wandered up.

"Hey Jack, hope I'm not too late, got a little sidetracked this morning. You know how it is." Chances are she was pretty obviously freshly roused from bed, but hopefully the beanie covered most of the bed hair.

She wasn't sure whether to curse her power right now or cheer. It was being frustratingly obscure, like usual, and she didn't know how a girl with black wings could help her get alcohol. Christ she even looked a little younger than she was, even if she was the same height.

Rather than approach her on the street, Alice just watched as she gained entrance to a seedy looking bar without a problem, the bouncer didn't even bother checking her ID. How the hell?

OK, maybe she could help, although she wasn't sure why a stranger would risk their neck to get her booze but it was worth a shot at least. Moving over to the bouncer, he seemed ready for a confrontation right off the bat. Figuring she only had a shot with a desperate gamble, "Hey, I'm here to meet a friend. Tall girl, black hair, wings? Stands out a bit." He didn't like like he believed her yet, "I wouldn't want to keep her waiting, would you?"

Paling a little, he just waved her through, muttering something about damn teenagers. That had been easy? Bit weird but hey, she was in and it didn't take her long to find the girl, her wings were pretty easy to spot. Getting closer, she had to admit the 'raven' was pretty cute, her long limbs and serene face  made her look almost elfin. And god those eyes, she could lose herself in those pits.

"Erm hi, this might sound weird I know, but my power kind of tells me you might be able to get me booze. Or something." Yeah it was way weirder saying it out loud, she half expected the girl to just flat out ignore her. "Actually, this is sounding stupider the more I think about, sorry to bother you."
