The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

“Because… I… uhm, I hurt my ankle.” Lily raised an eyebrow. Alex hurt her ankle. Riiight. Because it didn't at all sound like something out of a romance novel. Just what the heck was going on in the middle of the whole mission?! Back to the conversation. Lily sipped her cocktail again and hoped she wouldn't have to order a second one when Alex finished, because it looked like she would finish real soon. "Whoa. Sounds like Sam's getting really protective about you." she smirked. I could live with that. All right, I probably couldn't, but at least it's nice to have someone who gets this pissed about being touched... um, carried by another guy. She decided not to share these thoughts with Alex. She still looked mighty upset.
The laugh was clearly a mistake. Lily bit her lip and turned more serious. Whatever happened, Alex really seemed to be upset about it. She sipped her cocktail through the straw, wrinkling her nose. It bought her some time. "Um...okay." she said cautiously "That... sounds like it could be misinterpreted." She had to admit that. It was true. And she was not used to girl talk. Not this particular Romanian-pub version anyway. "Of course, that's not an excuse." she added hurriedly "Did you try to talk to him? About, you know..." She just had to ask. The whole thing sounded messed up so far. Way more messed up than she ever had to deal with. Of course, being new to dating stuff, her level of 'messed up' wasn't all that high. "... why was he doing that, exactly?..."
Lily waited patiently for Alex to start talking. She didn't want to rush anything. She watched her toss coats and straws around, and empty half of the glass that seemed to be only the first one in a long row of others to come. It was just that kind of mood, that kind of night. Lily decided to drink carefully. Somebody will need to make sure Alex gets home. “That... Sam. He thinks I’m cheating him…with Kaz.” All right, the ice was broken. (Metaphorically speaking, no pun intended). She could work with that. Right after she bit back a surprised little laugh that half escaped her somehow. "With Kaz?!" she smirked "Is he for real?..." Not that there was anything wrong with their second teammate. Except for his ego, of course. But still. Kaz?!... "Whatever makes him think that?..."
Body snatchers for dummies: The FF plot continues on as Lily-in-Zephyr and Zephyr-in-Lily meet up at Mondragon Labs under the supervision of a very amused Slate.
You really gotta want it: Lily finds a new student-to-be in one of the Mansion death traps. At night. And invites him in. Saphirus' arrival.
“Ice Angel, my ass.” Lily blinked, and glanced at the bartender with a half-smile and a silent apology. Whoa. Whatever Sam did, it sounded like he really screwed up this time. Guys tended to do that. From time to time. It was weird. Lily had never been this mad because of a guy in her life. Then again, she'd never been any kind of mad about any guy... so far. Picking up the menu, she looked the cocktail list over. She liked cocktails, even though she was always very careful not to drink too much. Turning a page, she discovered with surprise one that sounded familiar. "I'll have a Hurricane." she smiled at the bartender, returning the menu. She loved sweet drinks, and this one was as sweet as you could get. She suspected she'd need it too, if they were about to have some serious girl talk. Once they had their cocktails, she walked over to the empty booth, glancing back over her shoulder to make sure Alex was okay with the choice. Once they settled down, she rested her chin in her palm, stirring her drink with a straw, looking at Alex expectantly. "So...?"
Lily walked with Alex in silence. It didn't grow awkward, at least not on her part - she was comfortable with keeping her teammate company without asking questions or making small talk. Sometimes that was all people needed. It soon turned out that maybe Alex needed something more tonight, though. Spotting the pub, Lily raised an eyebrow; she wasn't used to places like that, and had some bad experiences with drunk people earlier, but still... “Wanna go in? It’s getting a bit chilly and the last thing I want is to get a cold because of that stubborn-” What she said. It was getting cold out on the streets, and wandering around at night didn't seem like a great idea anyway. Besides, that 'wanna go in?' sounded more like 'let's go'. So she nodded. "Yeah, sure. A drink would be nice." Whatever Alex was planning - or not planning - she decided to just go with it. Until she was ready to share whatever the matter was with Sam. Once they were in the pub, she unbuttoned her coat and looked around; it was not crowded, but there were quite a few people inside, mostly parties of young people like themselves. She spotted an empty booth too. And nothing that looked - or felt - like danger. So far. She smiled at Alex, nodding towards the bar. "C'mon, Alex. Let's get something to warm us up."
Seeing a gryphon charge at her friend was... spectacular, to say the least. Lily wasn't sure how much Juka's bubbles could bear; she was only in a bubble once, and it was too fascinating an experience to remember the physical details. The way Carrick acted was more playful then menacing, and even Lily - who usually worried way too much when it came to rough-and-tumble - didn't see any harm in the game. She laughed, a carefree, tinkling laugh, and watched the show. It really was like some kind of colorful illustration from a story book. Queen Juka and the gryphon. She started to wonder if she accidentally walked through an old wardrobe earlier in the morning. It certainly felt like children's magic. "Careful, you two!" she called out, only half serious about the warning. She moved around, not sure how she was supposed to take part in the game between a mythical beast... bestling and Juka in his little perfect bubble. Then she got an idea. Removing her silver bracelets, she shaped them together into a shiny ball; with some concentration she managed to shift them around inside out, so the purest, brightest metal was on the outside. With that done, she threw the ball high up into the air, and made it go zooming past between the gryphon and the bubble. "Catch that!"
“Don’t worry… the only one in danger of getting hurt is a certain team leader… One that can manipulate ice.” Lily blinked, and left it at that. She was not sure if her feminine instincts were right, but this sounded suspiciously like something that had nothing to do with the mission. Personal drama. She could deal with that. Girl talk was easier than... Looking at Alex again, she smirked. If she's that upset, Sam is in for one hell of a fight... She followed Alex out the front door and into the night. 'Just going' was fine. She had to admit she was in need of something like this too. So they just walked. “Uhmm, you introduced yourself as Jewel… but would you like me to call you Jewel or … Lily?” She smiled and shrugged. "Whichever you like... most people, including Maman, call me Jewel, so it's not really a... you know, code name or anything." she chuckled "It's just a nickname I picked up. For obvious reasons. Anyway, Lily's fine too." She fell silent after that. She figured Alex would start talking about other things when she was ready. They had time. At least till morning.
Lily instinctively took a step back when Alex turned around; she could tell that for a moment there was a threat in the cold blue eyes before her teammate recognized her. “No... But someone’s gonna get hurt soon if I don’t get out of the hotel.” That sounded... somewhat dangerous. Lily wasn't sure what Alex meant by that - physical harm, emotions, human/mutant threat, powers... but sounded like she really meant it. That made her feel uneasy. “Up for a walk? After all, it’s a lovely weather outside.” She couldn't care less about the weather. She could tell that much. Lily used to be pretty good with people, and she still had her moments of empathy, even though mutants caught her off guard a lot more than people without powers (and the problems that come with those). She could also tell that Alex was going to storm out into the night alone, and that didn't seem like a good idea, given the circumstances. Even though both of them had their own parts in the mission, Alex was still her teammate, and her... friend?... and she was not one to let her go alone, upset like she was. Plus Lily didn't have anything better to do anyhow. So. "Yes, sure. I'll walk with you." she nodded with a shy smile; her coat was draped over her arm, and she put it on as she spoke "Are we going anywhere in particular, or just... going?"
Lily spent the past fifteen minutes or so lingering in the hotel lobby, trying to decide how to spend her evening. She didn't really feel like going out (the mission was exhausting) but somehow she couldn't find her place in her room either. She decided to go downstairs and pretend to be an average tourist; she'd done this a lot before, but tonight even lingering didn't feel quite right. Just when she finally gave up and decided to try and sleep, a very upset Alex appeared out of nowhere - or from the elevator, probably - and stormed across the hall. She walked right past her without noticing. Not a good sign. Lily caught up to her on the way towards the front door, and tapped her shoulder. "Alex?... Are you all right?" she asked with concern in her voice. Of course, nothing was all right on the whole country right now, but... oh no. "... is somebody hurt?"
Carrick didn't seem to have any worries about being petted like a common puppy. Lily got bolder at scratching, all the while giggling and wondering what would Maman say if she told her 'yes, school is really lovely, oh, and by the way, we have a gryphon and he loves to play...' She let Carrick go after Juka. In a weird and adorable way they were a lot alike - playful and cheerful and hyper. She grinned as she watched Carrick tackle her friend, and wondered how that would feel like. She didn't think about joining the game - she figured a man floating in a bubble would be a lot more challenging for a winged creature - until Carrick somehow got behind her and nudged her to move. "Hey!" she laughed as she scrambled to her feet "No fair! I'm the only one here who can't fly, you know." she turned around, looking at the two of them with hands on her hips, trying hard to look serious and failing in cheerful laughter.
"She's the one we fought at the jewelry shop" she murmured, more to herself than to Shawn. He seemed worried about having Order members at the wedding too... but that only led back to her previous thoughts about the issue, and she decided it was best to look for something else to do. For now. She packed a plate with all kinds of food; she wasn't starving, but it was about time for a decent dinner anyway. She followed Shawn to a table. "You know, nanny used to make me eat a full meal before parties, so I wouldn't stuff myself with pastries in front of other people" she chuckled "Sounds like something out of Gone with the wind doesn't it." Of course, those parties were a lot different than this one. More fancy, more formal, more shiny, and a lot less friendly. Not to mention less fun. She kept glancing around like a girl at her first ball. In some people's cases seeing them all dressed up was worth it in itself.
"I've always wanted to turn into a bird. Or a cat. Or anything really." Lily dropped from daydreaming back to reality and rolled her eyes at her friend. "Juka, you are a cat. You are just not that fuzzy." she grinned. But she soon turned her attention back to the gryphon that was crawling his way over to her. Fascinating. Lily was a dog person, and could easily recognize the signs of a playful puppy... or whatever grpyhons are called when they are young. Smiling, she bent down and sat on her heels, reaching out one hand tentatively. She was not sure what she was supposed - or allowed - to do; after all, this one was not only a mythological creature, but also a human, and a Mansion student at that. She didn't want to do something wrong and hurt his feelings. Her hand touched soft fur under his beak; it felt surprisingly real. Lily didn't spend much of her free time wondering about how it would feel like to pat fantasy creatures, but it sure wasn't what she expected. Looking at the mismatched eyes for permission, she scratched the gryphon under the beak, then wove her fingers into the fur on its neck and ran them up to one ear to scratch some more. She giggled. "You know, Carrick, I have to agree with Juka. This is the most amazing ability I've ever seen." When Carrick turned his attention to Juka, she sat back on the grass and watched with a dreamy smile. Who would have thought she'd see something like this one day...
Lily rolled her eyes at Juka, but curiosity took over, and she turned back to the boy. ”I like Lily, my moms favorite flower.” Isn't that adorable. The kid just earned himself a brilliant smile. She raised an eyebrow as he flew away, and glanced at Juka. Now that Carrick told them the transformation would 'freak them out', she grew even more curious about the whole thing. She hadn't met many shapeshifters, and only once did she see one actually change shape (and that was Kaz showing off), so she couldn't help but wonder what Carrick would look like when he got back. The screech that grew louder made her jump in surprise; it was a voice only heard in fantasy movies, and still, somehow it fit the Mansion environment. Go figure. And then the gryphon appeared. It... he... looked unbelievable. Jewel's jaw dropped as she watched him fly over them, and then land a couple of feet away. She felt like a little girl who suddenly found herself in a fairy tale. When Carrick bowed, she still couldn't find the words to say, just stared at him with eyes gleaming in wonder. "Wow."
“He is a he right, and not just a really creepy she?” Lily couldn't help but giggle at that. "Yeah, last time I checked he was a he... um. Not like I, y'know, really checked..." she hurried to add that "But he used to wear normal clothes, back when we were kids." "...You look beautiful by the way.” She blushed. She usually blushed pretty easily, having pale skin and all... she tended to do it more when Shawn was around. Go figure. She dimpled too. "Thanks." She let him take her hand once again, and followed him to get some food. Most people (especially guys and Mansion students) tended to move towards the buffet; what was still left on the plates after the first few minutes was still plenty and looked delicious. Shawn stopped so suddenly, Lily bumped into him. And frowned. Not graceful. Following his gaze her eyes once again fell on Meld. "I know." she whispered to him "Weird, right?"
