The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

“Well, m’dear, last time I checked, just friends don’t kiss.” Alex had a point there. Lily automatically opened her mouth to argue, but she really couldn't; she wanted to say 'but I kiss my friends all the time', but she could answer herself, 'nah, not like that'. So because her mouth was already open, she found the straw again. Much better. “... Did you see Twilight? Cause that ‘You’re like my own personal brand of heroin.’ line is totally playing inside my mind right now.” Blink. Wha'...? "Nooo. No. It's not like that. I mean, yes, I suppose I could... how did you say... manipulate him, but that's just... not right." she shook her head violently, her cheeks flushed again "I mean, I did pull silver from him, when we were in a fight, but that was... a situation." she bit her lip "I wouldn't... do anything to him. Without his permission." The disturbing thing was, images of their kiss kept flashing through her mind. Yeah, and by the way, I kissed him through the silver, and it blew my mind, thank you very much. Sip. "... it's difficult. When he is around, I can... constanly sense him, you know? He's always there somewhere. And when he is close it's... makes it hard to focus. Dealing with silver is in my genes. It's tempting." she sighed "It's nice. I just... don't want him to think that's what matters about him." Wrinkling her nose, she storred her drink with the straw. "Is it supposed to feel like that?..."
Lily had no idea how it would feel like to have two guys fight over her. It was just a blind shot. She could tell she did hit... something with it, from the way Alex blinked. And denied. And turned the question around. “So. What about you and Shawn?” Shrugging is very rude, not fit for a lady, and should be avoided during decent conversation any time. Lily shrugged. "Nothing about us. He is kind. And friendly. And with our powers, I guess it goes without saying that I like being around him... but it's..." The second Hurricane just arrived in time to save the day. "... never mind." she smiled. Sip.
Lily was not used to drinking, at least not at this pace. She felt a bit light-headed. Nothing she couldn't control, of course. But it might have explained why she didn't feel like going back to the hotel to check on the guys. It also explained her grin at the 'elf' comment. "Suits him." What if they do get into a fight? Beating each other up - powers or no powers - is not exactly low profile. Kaz can get out of control, she already knew that much. Showoff. As for Sam... he's the team leader, he should be smarter than that. Normally. Of course, when it comes to women... Poor Shawn. Lily examined her glass for another second before glancing around and signaling to the waitress with an elegant motion that she wanted another drink. What the heck. Turning back to Alex, she smiled a tiny smile of possible conspiracy. "Admit it, it is flattering that two guys like Sam and Kaz get into a fight over you. Isn't it."
Lily was panning on sipping her drink some more to win some thinking time, but unfortunately nothing came through the straw. Peeking into the glass she noticed that it was empty, except for some ice cubes. She put the ex-cocktail down with a sigh.
"Sooo, you are telling me you just stormed out and the two of them are still upstairs staring each other down?..."
She had to smile at the idea. It was better than thinking about what else they could be doing. She hoped one of her team would notice in time if things got out of hand.
So, the team was together once again. Lily watched Fade phase through the door, and couldn't hide a smile; in a strange country, surrounded by all kinds of danger (all the information about the Registration Act and what followed it suddenly seemed very real), it was good to see the four people she could rely on. She listened to Shawn's plan intently. Her mind was just not used to this kind of planning, and thinking, and it took a great deal of effort from her to hide how nervous she was about the mission. She stayed quiet, nodding once in a while. SWAT operation. Right. For a girl who still had been playing with dolls a couple of years ago this doesn't really help to imagine the situation. "Oh and another big thing, no killing whatsoever." Yeah, no problem. It was good to hear something like that. No 'we'll do whatever it takes' and 'suck it up girl you're not in Kansas anymore'. Don't kill. Nice and easy. Lily could deal with that. And she was glad the rules of the X-team matched her own thoughts. She could tell Shawn put a lot of thought into this. Also, he clearly had experience. Combat, leadership, planning, the whole deal. She had the vague feeling that if she followed the rules, nothing could possibly go wrong. Then again, she had the same conviction all her life. "One last thing before I take you're questions... Teams. Fade and Shin you're together. Fade is in charge. Kasumi, Lily, and me are together. Now... Questions." Shawn and Kasumi. Good. She knew that it was only logical for her to be teamed up with her primary source of weapons and protection, but she found herself smiling none the less. What could go wrong?... Yeah, what indeed. She didn't really have a question yet. Her brain was still working on sorting out all the information they heard; she looked at the map, her eyes narrowing as she scanned the markings and the areas they would have to search through. "That's a lot of work, if we have no leads." she murmured, then looked up "Do we have a time limit?"
“A kiss is a kiss. Didn’t the two of you talked about this?” Lily shrugged and sipped her drink through the straw, watching as the pink line climbed up inside. She glanced at Alex. It was her turn to talk. Even though she looked much more interested in her Lost Paradise than in talking about what the problem was. “But I already told you what happened to me.” Lily grinned and shook her head, fake-brown tresses flying left and right. How did they get out of the bun?... Never mind. "No fair!" she chuckled "Come on, Alex, you started it. 'fess up. Talk."
Lily followed his gaze and saw the wolf-ish girl sitting with the group of students as a nearby table. She tilted her head curiously. The girl - Emerald, was it? What a fascinating name - looked friendly enough to her. Even with the fangs and the tail. "No, I haven't met her. But I'd love to. Is she a shifter?..." she could guess, but you could never be sure with mutants. Most people here could pass for human whenever they wanted. "Oh, thanks for the roommate, by the way" she added with a wink when Shawn turned back to her "She's adorable. Coming from overseas, together with the mutation and all, must be hard for her. But she is a sweetheart. And at least I'm not alone in the room anymore." It was nice, not feeling like an only child for once.
Lily arched an eyebrow at Alex. When did this conversation turn around to her boyfriends?... (or, rather, the lack of them). Sometimes when girls were upset about their love life they wanted to hear about the others'. So they could relate. Or cheer up knowing they were still better off. With a little bit of luck, this could work both ways. Lily sipped her drink, and grinned at Alex. "I'll tell if you tell, deal?" Right. So. Why was it complicated, again? "Um. One. We went downtown to party a couple of weeks ago, we got attacked in the park, Shawn got shot, I got beaten up, we spent the night at the Infirmary, and in the morning we kissed." she summed up "I am just not sure if kissing after a near-death experience counts at all." Another sip of Hurricane. "Your turn."
The boys were incredibly fast - Lily admired their enthusiasm in chasing a silver ball. True, Carrick was still a kid and Juka was... Juka, but there was an extra cheerfulness in the air she couldn't quite explain. Maybe it was using their powers freely, for fun. Maybe it was the autumn sunshine. Maybe it was the flying. She suddenly felt like flying. Too bad her own powers were not qualified for that. She ran faster to catch up to the boys as they bobbed and pounced after the ball; she could see Juka miss, and Carrick tumble, with the ball in his beak, and by the time the silver showed up on the edge of her senses again, its position was clearly and undoubtedly 'inside the gryphon'. Ooh damn. "Carrick!" she called out, worried - could a mythical creature choke on a silver ball of that size?... - as she finally caught up, stopping so suddenly she almost slipped. She collapsed on the ground next to the gryphon, panting, and with a half grin on her face "I told you not to swallow it, kid!" Putting her hand on the gryphon's neck she could feel the silver ball under the fur and skin and muscle. She scratched him behind the ear, sighing. "Now what?"
"Oh, so that's his real name, is it? I wondered. Streak didn't sound like something you'd think of to name a baby."
Lily grinned at that. "Nah, that's his codename. Most people around here have one... it comes with the powers, I guess." she shrugged, remembering how she had to wrap her mind around the idea too not so long ago "You'll hear people calling me Jewel. Same difference." she winked at Callie as she stood and put on her jeans and a T-shirt. Getting dressed usually took way more time than this for her, but now she had a brand new roommate to take care of, and that was an exception. She pulled her hair back into a bun, already on her way to the door.
"C'mon, I'll show you the kitchen and the dining room. You'll get something to eat, and that's the unofficial center of Mansion life anyway. We can do the rest of the tour after the meal."
“But I thought you and Streak were…err, you know."
Lily's cheeks continued to blush with a visible speed, hurrying to match the color of her drink. Trying to avoid giving an answer just yet, she picked up her glass and took a few decent gulps from it before coming up for air. Sigh.
"Well, um... no, not really. I mean, we..." she glanced at Alex, who was much less sober than she was, and looked very curious. "... I honestly don't know."
She honestly didn't. Lily usually opened up quickly, especially to other girls, especially on the rare occasion if alcohol was involved. She had no doubt about wether or not she could trust Alex... she just didn't know.
"It's... complicated."
How very truly original. Lily returned to stirring the Hurricane. At least what was left of it.
"Bon appétit, then" Lily chuckled as she started eating. The food was good, and it was even better, sharing a table with Shawn, after having attended a beautiful wedding (that turned out to be more romantic than Lily expected from her new, weird and unconventional extended family). She liked parties when people were sincerely cheerful and friendly, and not smiling through their teeth for politeness' sake. Or maybe they were. And they were just that good at it. She doubted everyone was spotlessly cheerful about the Order's appearance. Or was it just her, once again worrying too much? She glanced at the group of teenagers nearby, and all the worries were dissolved in a smile. "It really looks like a school for once, doesn't it." she noted, then added with a half grin "... with some relatives visiting. Gosh I have been here for months and I still don't know most of these people. Is it just me?..." She didn't mind. She suspected Shawn would know most of them, or at least know something about them. For now she was just content taking part in the fun.
Lily didn't really think about the ball trick; she just did it on pure instinct, because that's what you do when you are happy and playful, you throw a ball for the gryphon and the bubble guy. Fetch. The silver ball zoomed past between them, immediately catching their full attention; it slowed down to make sure they followed, then shot forward, and when in reached the invisible twenty feet line - it slipped out of Lily's control. By that time it was flying so fast it didn't fall to the ground right away - momentum kept it going for dozens of feet more before it started to descend, bounce, and roll. "Ooops." Lily giggled, breaking into a run to catch up with her friends. She had to work on expanding her power limits. Just like she had to work on her speed too. It was not fair game, racing with a mythical beast and Mr. Flying Perfection, but she still felt rather... slow. They were far ahead, chasing the silver ball. "Don't swallow it!" she called out, breathless from running and laughter.
“You know, Lily, a guy is protective when there really is something that endangers the relationship is going on. Not my case.”
Lily sipped her drink. "You have a point there" she admitted "But that's girls' logic, you know. With the amount of empathy guys have, I doubt they can tell the difference."
“Were your boyfriends protective like that?” That made her cheeks turn pink again and she looked away. The plural form bothered her a bit. To tell the truth, the singular would have too. She shook her head - "No thanks I'm good" - and waited till the waitress walked away before picking up the conversation. Alex was drinking much faster that she did. Lily had no experience about getting drunk, but she could tell it was happening to Alex. Or will be, very soon.
"Um. I... haven't really had a boyfriend. Yet." There, she said it.
