The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Kendra let out an audible sigh of relief when they found themselves out of the darkness. That was freakin intense! She thought to herself as she tried to slow her heart rate down. For the last little bit of the dark path she had remained quiet. The only thing that let Becca know she was even there was the panicked squeezes to her hand every so often. Ever since her near fatal slip she wanted to concentrate harder on what she was doing. "Thanks. I didn't mean to almost break'our necks!" Kendra cried out from the empty spot beside Becca.
The truth was that was pretty scary. Her heart was still beating kind of fast. It was enough to make her double over and place her hands on her knees to catch her breathe. For the moment she found herself glad she was invisible and that her companion didn't have to see how much that had shook her. Kendra leaned up and tried to get herself together before she spoke. "What's next?" She asked. Leaning up for the first time since they left the dark she hadn't noticed the door until just now.
Following Becca through it she saw the chest lying on the floor. She thought it might be a booby trap. Didn't Becca say something about booby traps? She couldn't be sure. Maybe it was her own paranoid mind anticipating the worst, but she let out a little startled scream when the lock magically twisted and ripped off by it self. Shooting across the room like a bullet! Shit! Get it together! At least try not to act like a roob! To her surprise it wasn't a trap however. It was a weapon. And what a weapon it was. Becca handed her the weapon of great power and Kendra stepped up to take it hesitantly. She wasn't sure how she was going to wield it while jumping on cobalt platforms or traversing narrow pathways. This place seemed to be like agility was crucial.
Taking the weapon into her nervous hands it immediately pulled her down to the floor. She wasn't expecting it to be that heavy at first. The hammer slammed down with a mighty thud on the cobalt. Oh upper body strength! You practical joker! She thought as she lifted the hammer. It wasn't unmanageable, but she could see it tiring her quickly if she got into a scrap with it. "Umm.. Yeah, I'll see what I can do with this badboy." She said. There wasn't a whole lot of confidence in her words but she took the hammer which appeared to float in the air on it's own now.
Kendra stepped away from Becca and gave a few practice swings just to see how it felt. It felt a little better once she had really gotten used to the weight of it. Ok. This could work. She thought. She still sort of wished that she wasn't invisible. It'd be nice for her companion to actually be able to see her at the moment. She still hadn't figured out a trick for getting around that, but she'd love one now. It was making the whole danger room a lot more challenging for the scot, but she had to just try and hold her own weight and not become a burden.
"Tristen." She let the name linger on her tongue a moment before she actually spoke it out loud. It fit him nicely. She looked across the table and felt a surge of warm feelings. She slid her hand a cross the table and seized his once more. His hands were sandy and a little rough in the softness of her own, but she didn't notice. She could feel his pulse beating lightly in the tips of his fingers. It was quick, but steady. She didn't reject him. Everything he had told her only made her sad that he had gone through similar experiences. Though, she had never killed anyone. She wouldn't even dream of it, but she didn't judge him for doing what he did. It was survival. She knew the amount of hatred some people held for mutants and she saw how it could be needed no matter how ugly it was, that didn't chane her opinion of him.
Daydream slid her plate in front of her and picked up a fork. She could feel her appetite returning to her. She was hungry again. She forced the thoughts out of her mind of her parents and mutant hating humans. She willfully tried to forget about the events of the last 24 hours and just try and appreciate that she wasn't alone right now. Scooping up a bite of the rancheros she slipped the forkful into her mouth and stopped. Her eyes went wide. "Oh my god! This is amazin!" She blurted out. The surprise that hit her tongue momentarily shot all other thoughts out of her head. She had never had authentic Mexican food before. She frequented taco bell, but that wasn't something worth bragging about.
Kendra smiled. It was the first honest smile she had made all day aside from when she was laughing at a certain little bird. She could feel the blush back in her cheeks, but it wasn't out of embarrassment. No, this intense show and tell had drove away all the self conscious social awkwardness that she brought with her to the breakfast table. Instead she was blushing because she had completely forgotten about her deadline. In the craziness of the last day she totally forgot that she was supposed to email some new mock ups to her boss. It was the reason she was even in the park yesterday. Trying to get some photos to send in before all the craziness happened.
"Ima be so in trouble with my boss. Forgot to send'in ma'photos." She admitted. Though admittedly they didn't seem like such a big deal now. She shrugged laughin a bit as she scooped another forkful of this amazing breakfast into her mouth. She was eating with gusto now and not really caring how she looked as she ravenishly went for a third bite. She could feel Tristen watching her.
Tristen's eyes seemed to linger on her a bit. Looking up from her plate she smiled confused a bit. "What?" She asked. She was just enjoying her breakfast at this point. She was done with the sad and the terrible. She swept it back under the rug like any rational person would. She was trying to be that hopelessly optimistic part of herself again, and that part of her loved Wavos...Ravos Rancherous? Whatever it was she loved this stuff now.
Kendra laughed a little watching Leon try and figure out the apron. She supposed he had probably never wore one. Turning on the burner she started to hum a bit. The sound coming from her a sweet lullaby she was never sung as child. Just one that she happened to know. Drifting about the kitchen here or there, she was in really good mood today. She took the pan from Leon and placed it on the burner slappin down a few big pieces of steak. She began to chop some onions and green peppers. More of a dinner type of thing but she couldn't remember the last time she got to actually cook so it was as much for relaxation as anything else.
Between chopping onions and the quite sizzle of the steaks on the pan she looked up at Leon. "So. What'ya like to do for fun Leon?" She was honestly curious. When she snuck into his room the other night she was hoping to learn a little about his interests, but instead she ended up terrorizing the poor guy. A slight frown pulled at her lips at the thought of it, but she quickly replaced it was a soft smile.
Kendra started making lines with her cut ingredients on the chopping board and slid them into he sizzling pan. Holding up the knife she motioned towards the chair encouraging him to take a seat at the table. Cutting didn't seem to be his thing so instead she would just prepare a nice meal for two 'friends' to share for lunch.
Kendra turned her attention back to the cupboards and found a bottle of wine that was tucked away in the back of the cabinet. She popped the cork out and sprinkled a bit over the meat just to give it a special little extra something. She had particular tastes. It might sound disgusting, but a light glaze of maple syrup over a juicy stake gave it a slightly sweeter taste that was absolutely amazing, but she wasn't going to experiment on poor Leon with her weird recipes, instead she was just going to give him a fantastic meal.
As the meat cooked she eyed him from time to time. Studying his reactions, his body language. He still seemed a bit out of his element here. She wanted him to relax and she wanted him to enjoy himself. She reached over and turned on a radio that was sitting on the counter by the sink. Her eyes cast back over to him as she started to tend to their lunch.

Kendra's voice was a sweet reminder of Juliette's home. She hadn't honestly given a thought to her accent, until Juliette mentioned it. "It is the peach state." She said with a slight chuckle. She was from the south, but she didn't have the same fond memories of her time there unfortunately. Kendra left to get away from her father and wanted to put as much distance between them as possible. As it turned out, that meant New York. She had heard about the mansion and it's willingness to take in lost and troubled mutants. She came here by bus with a dream and some naïve hope that she could find a place to belong. As it turned out, her hope was justified because now she was training with one of the X-Men.
When the issue of attire came up Kendra looked down at her clothes. Her light billowy sweater dwarfed her wrists. The sleeves hung over her hands making her look a little like Mickey Mouse in Fantasia. She smiled in agreement and slipped off her shoulder holster. Pulling the sweater over her head she tossed it aside and slipped the holster back on. She was wearing a light pink tank top beneath. The pale of her fare skin now a stark contrast to the black wool fingerless gloves she was wearing. "This should be alright. More comfortable than it looks really." She said.
She wasn't so much nervous about meeting an X or even so much the thought of training in the danger room. She was mostly nervous because she didn't know what to expect. Juliette seemed perfectly pleasant and oddly enough a wave of comfort began to wash over her. She wasn't so shy and nervous around the bright and chipper Juliette.
Kendra lifted her leg behind her and caught it with her hand. Pulling back on the toe of her boot she started to stretch out her hamstrings as she watched Juliette start to limber up. The last danger room had combat. She was sure this scenario would as well. So she made sure to take all the time she needed to stretch properly. Leaning to one side she stretched and reached for the opposite toe feeling the pulling muscle stretch in the back of her calf. "You know I can't do noth'n fancy less'n Ima sleep right? Figured we could start wit the basics, I ain't much of a fighter I'm afraid. I gues you could say I'm more about stealth."
It wasn't a lie. She didn't really know how to fight. She was wild and sloppy with her fighting style. There was no mechanics to it, no refinement. She was like an uncaged animal chasing a meal. There were a few nights since she's been in the mansion that she snuck out in the night and tried to stop crime herself. It was reckless and dumb and she paid the price for it. Most nights were pretty dull, but one night she found a few guys trying to mug a woman in an alley. She was invisible, but it was still a challenge. She managed to take on three guys by herself. She did sustain some injuries however. She ended up with bruised ribs, a busted lip, a bruised jaw and strangulation marks on her neck. Which DocProf. took care of for her.
It was a hard lesson to learn. She needed to know how to fight before she tried anything like that again. In the end though.... Success. She took down the three would be assailants and the woman got away unmolested. It felt good. It felt great actually. Until the next morning. She may have been an invisible astral projection but she could still be hurt. She didn't feel the pain as badly when astral projecting. It was like it was somehow.... Muted. When she woke up the morning after stopping the muggers it felt like she was hit by a truck. She had the bruises she gained in her dream, and the pain was amplified much louder after.
She was clumsy by nature. Born with two left feet, so she also needed to work on that. She needed to get better at stealth and fighting and that was her main focus of training. She wanted to be able to sneak around undetected taking out people like an invisible ninja! Something like that. "I'm pretty excited mostly! A little bit'o nerves I guess, but that's normal right? As far as the experience level? Put me down for'a big fat zero. When I'm teleportin....I glide! I'm as smooth as butter meltin' over a stack'a flapjacks. But the rest'o my game lacks pizzazz. " Kendra kicked her sweater as she spoke so it was pushed off to the side of the room against the wall.
She was just about done with he stretches. She had been doing them throughout the conversation and she was just about ready. Her body was alive with jumping nerves. Pins and needles exciting her muscles to be reactive and ready. Ready for anything this simulation might throw at her. Kendra finished the last of her stretches and looked over at Juliette. She promised herself she wouldn't ask right off but she couldn't help it. She was bursting with curiosity. "So.... What can you do? If'n ya don't mind me askin?"
Assistant? Kendra thought the proposition over in her mind for a few moments while she chewed on her lip thoughtfully. She could use the extra income. She was only a freelance photographer. There was an ebb and flow to that. Sometimes there was work and other times there wasn't. "I'll have'ta give it some thought." She finally said. She could use the money, but she was hoping to open her own photography studio somewhere in the city eventually. To do that thought she needed money and more than she was brining in.
Kendra looked at the older woman and thought how young she looked. If she had to guess she'd say about 24. Kendra herself was only 21. The bright beaming sun wouldn't do either of their complexions any favors, though Xavia seemed to be enjoyin the sun. Kendra yawned and stretched out a bit. She supposed it'd be nice to feel a little more helpful around the mansion and less like a free loader.
"Ya know what? I'll do it!" She changed her mind, but she was always a bit on the indecisive side. Not to mention nosey and impulsive. Those were just a few of her lovely, lovely personality traits. Kendra didn't really know the first thing about biology, let alone mutant biology, but she figured that it'd be a good way for her to learn and kinda take a class without really takin a class. She wondered what kind of lectures the young plant woman would give.
She thought a moment about her girlfriend and how it had been awhile since she had seen her. Obviously she was puttering around somewhere around the mansion but she just hadn't had the time to actually spend anytime with her. IF she was helping teach a class she'd have even less time for Emily, but if she wanted to open up her studio.... Kendra placed a hand on Xavia's shoulder and rubbed it lightly.
"Thanks, I umm... really appreciate it. So does that mean you're goin to move back'to the mansion if you take up teaching full time?" Kendra's voice was hopeful. She had made a new friend and possibly a new employer. She'd rather see more of her than less of her around the mansion honestly. Plus, it'd be nice to have another friendly face to bump into when she dream walked at night.

His words rang out in her mind. Everything inside her told her that she was wrong. That she was just a kid. It wasn't her fault, but she felt like it was. Her mother was the source of her pain. She was an bottomless well of 'what ifs' and 'why couldn't it be differents.' Parts of her story echoed in her head. Haunting her. Reliving the worst moments of her life like a feedback loop. Her mother.... She didn't even know her name. Her father would never tell her what it was.
Daydream nodded slightly at first, and then more excitedly through slip streams of tears; when Geo told her she wasn't a bad person. She truly believed that he believed that. She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath to settle herself. The hurt didn't go away. It only buried itself back in to the cassum of her heart where she kept it. Keep it there. Lock it away. Save your pain for another day. She told herself.
How had it gotten this far? How had she even lasted this long in the world? She knew that she was a clumsy naïve fool, who trouble seemed to follow. She was never one to be brave. She had slipped and stumbled more than most through her life, but every time there was that undying optimist about her spirit that kept the darkness at bay. For the longest time she had trouble seeing that optimistic side when she had this universally bad cosmically tragic overall shit luck. It wasn't just her parents. It wasn't just Swift and Gavin and their mutant army. It was everything. The world liked to pile on her shoulders and she wasn't sure how she could manage.
It was the very nature of her ability. It was lonely. It was an invisible existence. She moved through life fading into the background and shrinking away from confrontation about mutant hating bigots. Though she could see the outrage. It outraged her, she just didn't have a voice to speak against it. She hadn't found her voice. It wasn't until she made it to New York that things got lighter. She formed friendships and relationships here. People didn't judge her for what she was. She didn't out right renounce her human side, she still felt human and believed herself to be overall part of the bigger picture. She found herself lost in thought for a few moments. Weighing everything in her mind and it seemed so unbalanced. She kept going back and forth with the good and the bad that had happened to her and it all came out jumbled and confused. She had a hard time gathering her thoughts.
When Geo started to speak again Daydream sat there listening to the horrific events of the past. The things Geo had done, the things he had been a part of. Her tears were gone, but her heart was tearing a part. Daydream's hands were clutching onto his throughout his story. Every so often she gave them a light squeeze. Just to let him know that she understood. That he wasn't alone. When he said that he had killed people before her hands pulled away. Her face contorted in expression of shock and disgust.
Daydream didn't make eye contact as he finished the last of his story. For the longest time she said nothing. That..... That was awful. She thought. She couldn't see Geo the same way anymore. She couldn't see him as the cocky, confident flirty elemental she had come to know as her guardian angel over the last 24 hours. Daydream's head snapped back in Geo's direction.
The worry lines in her forehead causing deep creases. The tears still stained her cheeks though she had none left to give. She was sick to her stomach with the emotion that was pulsing through her. She wanted to scream, she wanted to cry. Her skin was flush and hot. Her pulse was racing as her hands tugged anxiously at the hem of her shirt. Daydream was looking down at her lap. She couldn't bare to look at Geo. Not now. Not after everything he had just told her. How would she ever be able to look at him the same way again? In the few moments it took him to tell her his story he had changed in her eye. He wasn't the same Geo that she had grown quite fond of.
Daydream said nothing as Geo took the first bite of his breakfast. She didn't want to be here. In this stupid diner. The fact of the matter was. She was heartbroken again. The universe had found one more way to kick her while she was down and pile on one more heartache that she wasn't even sure she could handle at the moment. Slowly Daydream raised her head and looked across the table at Geo....... He had renounced his human name and his human existence for what the world had done to him. What it had made him become..... She saw sitting before her....... A good person. Nothing more. It broke her heart that he had gone through that and it reminded her of herself. Of all mutants in general.
Why? Why did the world hate us so much? She didn't have any real answers to such large looming questions. Daydream reached up and wiped away another tear that threatened to drip from one of her eyes. When she first met him he rolled her eyes when she told him her human name first. But she was human! Mutant or not she didn't want to loose that part of herself that felt connected to humanity. It was that undying optimist in her pushing against the tide that wanted to drown her in a river of hate. She was human as much as anyone else. She was just evolved. After what seemed like an eternity to her she finally spoke...... "What.....What's your name Geo? You're real name? Tell me please. I have'ta know!" Her words came out gentle and pleading. And most of all desperate. She was desperate to know that not every single part of this man she's come to know as friend had given up all hope.
Purple text = Dialouge White text = Awake Light pink text = Dream walking *Chat Alias* Melody (Daydream)
Kendra sat and thought about the question for a minute. She wished she could say yes, but she was exhausted. She was always exhausted. Her body actually did rest though her mind did not. Sometimes she felt like she was loosing her mind, but the answer was no. She did not feel rested. Since her body actually did rest it prevented those heavy bags under her eyes. The tell tale sign of a unrestful night of sleep, instead she was just mentally tired and run down. She felt like she hadn't slept in years. " No." She said quietly as she looked over the girl.
She was less worried about herself and more worried about the health of Xavia, but when she asked how she herself was doing Kendra quickly shrugged it off "I'm fine, just some creep he didn't touch me or anythang, you pretty much stopped'em sugar." She said smiling a bit. It wasn't really traumatic since nothing had gotten to that point and she had been hit on before, she had seen his type before. Big muscles little brain. Thinking he can have any woman he wants, it didn't matter if they weren't interested.
Kendra shook her head lightly and declared she wasn't hungry. Truth was during the night she had wandered into the kitchen at some point and gotten herself a few snacks. Even though she was just a dream projected on the world eaten in her dreams made her full when she was awake. She was like the world's cheapest date! She never ate that much when she was actually awake. She didn't waste her time with things like that when she could just as easily do it when she was asleep.
Kendra remembered that she said she was a biology teacher here at the school. She wondered if she would be able to sign up for any classes. She was twenty one, a little older than a senior in high school, but this was a school for the gifted. Surely it wasn't age restricted but she didn't know. She debated weather she should bother Xavia with such questions for a moment, but quickly decided to ask anyways. "Is your biology class for adults as well? Or just for'the kids?" She would be fascinated by a class that taught mutant biology. It seemed right up her alley. She often spent her free time dream walking into the library to read various books on mutation and genealogy.

Kendra was a war of emotions. She didn't honestly know what to feel or think. There was a growing flutter in her stomach. She was all nervous energy and excitement. On the one hand. She was going to get to train with one of the X-Men. She had been in the danger room with Becca a few days prior and that was a whirlwind of chaotic adventure. A secret part of her was excited to do it all again. A much larger part of her was terrified. She wasn't exactly graceful by any stretch of the word. She was a clumsy socially awkward southern bell with a pension for making mistakes.
Kendra moved down the hall towards the danger room. She had been given temporary access to get in and she bypassed the security doors with a swipe of her limited use card. Here goes girl. Just try'n keep ya head on a swivel and try not to make'yaself look like a clumsy roob! She thought as she swiped her card on the last door. The door opened up with a whoosh and a slight breeze. Stepping into the room she noticed that the simulation was on pause. She didn't know what lied ahead, but she was eager to greet it, sort of.
When the door opened she was immediately met by an enthusiastic woman. This must be Juliette, wow. Was this the X-Men or Charlie's Angels? Everyone on the team was gorgeous! Except for Ghost. She couldn't rightly tell you what Ghost looked like with any certainty. Moving into the room she quietly approached. All nervous energy and now social awkwardness. "Hi. You must'be Juliette, I'm Kendra. Nice ta meet'cha." She said sheepishly. The heavy drawl of her sweet southern voice dripped out of her pouty lips and flowed like a river of honey. The accent was unmistakable.
Kendra had showed up for training wearing a wool sweater and a pair of ripped jeans that sat loosely over her black boots. She was wearing a gun holster with a tranquilizer gun resting comfortably inside it just under her left arm. Hanging from her side was a collapsible police baton. She had brought what she had come to see as 'her weaponry.' Tools of her unique craft. She showed up fully awake so she was perfectly visible.
Kendra reached up and tucked some loose strands of crimson locks behind her slightly freckled ear. She was chewing on her lower lip nervously and her nose crinkled like a button. A little habit she had when she was anxious about something. She wasn't sure what this simulation was, of if she was even equipped for it, but she was in the presence of a gorgeous gal who she was sure was capable. She was an X after all.
Becca had really impressed her the last time she stepped into the danger room. She found herself wondering what this girl's abilities were. She wasn't rightly sure. She was just given the information of where and when to be and showed up ready to train her powers and test her skill. "We umm... Need'ta do some stretchin first?" She asked. Her big brown eyes searching the face of the beautiful stranger wondering just what she had in store for her.
Purple text = Dialouge White text = Awake Light pink text = Dream walking *Chat Alias* Melody (Daydream)
Daydream listened to the explanation of his power with great interest. She had always been interested in people, but learning of another mutant and hearing what their power was, was far more interesting. She watched as he materialized some knives and sent them dancing about. She watched it with a sense of childlike wonder. It was truly amazing to her, she wondered how it worked. Did he just have to think about it. What was stopping him from just thinking about a key to open a locked door, or a brick wall to stop someone from chasing him. Her mind was skittering around trying to think of interesting things he might actually be capable of as she waited his display of skill.
When the knives impaled the ceiling she actually began to clap. She was impressed. He was some kind of psychic! Or at least to her he seemed to be. It was all very cool and very mysterious. She was a bit surprised when he said that her power was cooler than his. "Riiiight. You could make a ninja throwing star with your brain and with'a thought sail it into some fool's face, all I can do is teleport snore and drool."
She found herself wishing that she was awake now. Not that she didn't want to be here. She was starting to find the encounter very interesting since he revealed himself to be a mutant, albeit a little bit of an uptight one. Still, his mutation was awesome, and she wanted to not be invisible. She wasn't going to prank him anymore, she didn't have any reason to hide. Not that she had intentionally set out to mess with him in the beginning it just turned out that way.
Kendra chewed on her lower lip and thought about how she could get here. She really wished she could work out some kind of body delivery system that would bring her physical body back to her astral form when she needed it. She had a way to get her astral body back. All she had to do was dial 1 on her speed dial of the phone in her pocket. The phone in her bedroom would ring and wake her up sending her conscious thought back to her physical body in an instant. It was kinda cool actually. Like in that movie the matrix where people could exit the matrix through a phone. She hadn't really figured out a way to get her body back to herself though.
When Artair asked her about her living in the mansion she nodded. She had forgotten that he couldn't see her when he wasn't actively looking in the reflection so she clarified out loud. "Yes. I live in the mansion, I'm not really one of the X-Men, I just kinda crash there I guess." She hadn't really had time to learn much about her power while staying at the mansion, she spent most of her free time trying to keep her sanity and hold back the boredom for as long as possible.
Purple text = Dialouge White text = Awake Light pink text = Dream walking *Chat Alias* Melody (Daydream)
Kendra got up and left the room not wanting her smoke to bother Xavia as she rested. She decided that her body could look after her and she could go try and do a little studying in the library. When she came back later the next morning the girl was gone. After doing some snooping she finally discovered her outside. She was basking in the sun. She was ghostly white and her pale complexion reminded her of her own. Kendra moved over to where she was sitting and sat down.
Kendra knew her body was still back in the infirmary sleeping peacefully. She didn't have the phone number to the infirmary but she decided to teleport back there and wake herself up. It was morning after all. She really shouldn't sleep all day. There was one thing that really sucked about her power. If her sleep schedual was messed up she was in trouble. Teleporting back to the room she gently shook her body until her eyelids cracked open.
Kendra quickly got up and stretched a bit. She still felt tired, but at least Xavia was ok. That made her feel some better. She looked at the spot where Xavia was sleeping and placed a hand on the bed. It was still slightly warm to the touch. At least she knew she hadn't been up and about very long. She would have felt kind of silly if she just slept through her screaming in agony throughout the night.
When Kendra stepped outside she felt the warmth on her skin. Squinting up at the sun and shieling her eyes at it a moment she tried to find where xaiva was sitting. It was so bright outside. She walked over casually and sat down to join her. "You doin any better?" It was a dumb question, but she didn't know. Doc healed her, but she still looked like death. When Doc healed Kendra it was instant. She felt 100% instantly. She didn't know if Xavia's power was different, if it prevented her from full recovery, but she was still a little concerned as she sat down and waited for her response.

Daydream sat there in her side of the booth trying to willfully force the blush from her reddening cheeks. This is awkward. She thought and without warning Geo reached over and plucked the menu from her hand. Hey give it back! She started to say, but then quickly closed her mouth before uttering a word. Daydream slumped in her seat and averted her eyes out the window. The sun was out today. It was bright and beautiful outside. Her eyes slinked back over to the elemental across from her. She watched him stretch out in his booth and tell her a little about himself.
Mechanic? She couldn't see it. She would have guessed geologist, or maybe even someone who opened a flower shop or something more to do in line with his powers. But mechanic? Daydream found herself doing little things. Distractedly pushing the pepper shaker across the table or absentmindedly tidying up the table and making everything nice and neat. She felt like she had to be doing something with her hands. She wasn't exactly sure why she was suddenly so nervous. Maybe because this was the first truly personal encounter they've had. The first with any real substance and meaning. The getting to know you part of this very odd and spontaneous friendship.
Daydream offered him a smile, but didn't comment on anything he said. She took it all in and sat there in silence for a moment. Her eyes staring down at her fidgety hands like they were the most interesting things she had ever seen. Daydream looked up after a few moments of quiet thought. Her big brown eyes soft and tired. She was about to tell her story. Her whole story. Taking in a little breath she laid her hands flat on the table and stared out the window. It wasn't a happy story, she didn't want to see the pity in his eyes and she relived bad memories.
With a voice that was soft and haunted she began to speak. "Well, Ima photographer. Nature'n stuff mostly, but I photograph whatever needs'ta be photographed." Ok, so far so good. She hadn't really gotten into the sad part of her story yet. She stared chewing at her lower lip a little as she watched an old woman sitting on a bench across the street waiting for a bus. "Grew up in Georgia. The south. Mutants don't flaunt their powers in the south, everyone's afraid of bigotry. I was afraid for the longest time. Still tryna wrap my head' round the idea of mutant police officers and safe places for mutants to live." She was referring to the mansion and the sancturary.
Daydream's eyes locked on Geo's for a moment. She seemed to study his features, but she couldn't discern what he was thinking from the look on his face. "Ma'daddy didn't want noth'n to do with me. He blamed me for the death'of my mother....... She died in childbirth." She said looking back down at her hands and shifting uncomfortably in her seat. "When he found out I was a mutant it only feuled his hatred even more. I was engaged once. We was kids, stupid and young thanking the world was gone give us everythang we asked for. I really loved her, but even she was disgusted when she found out ma secret. I never did met a single person who really honestly to god cared about me til I moved here."
Daydream got quiet all of a sudden when the waitress came back with two plates and set them down. She didn't want to broadcast her story to everyone, only Geo. He deserved to know more about her after everything he's been through for her. Though, she found it hard to talk about all this. Ghosts from her past, she just wanted them to stay buried forever. She didn't like drudging them up, but it was part of her now. Every tragedy in her live had brought her to this point. Every heartbreak was another reason for her to be who she was now. When the waitress left Daydream continued.
"Never knew that I was gone find a place that not only accepted me, but appreciated me. The mansion may not've been a good fit for ya, but it saved my life." A warm thought of Emily spread through her mind like a ripple on a pond getting deeper and it caused her to smile a bit. Her eyes were watering, but she wasn't crying. She was holding it together, though the flood of emotion was enough to make her break down she did not. Instead, she continued.
Daydream pulled her coffee closer and took a small sip. As if it was some kind of secret mana that gave her the strength to be brave. She looked up at Geo again. She still could tell nothing of his emotion. "First time I ever dream walked I was a little girl, probably bout 11 or'so. I could go anywhere I wanted, but instead I crept inta ma'daddy's room. It was late and dark, and I heard crying. I pushed open the door and sat him sitting there just'a hold'n on to his pillow and softly weeping. On the nightstand next to the bed was a picture of his wife. My mother. Never did meet'my mother, but it made me feel like'a monster. I was a mutant, but I was also the monster that killed my mother."
A stream appeared on both of her cheeks. Cracks in the dam. The river flowed without regret as she began to choke up. Her shoulders lurched with heaving sobs as she tried to puller herself together and failed. When she thought Geo was trying to consul her she waved it off. She wasn't looking for pity, she didn't deserve pity. Daydream wiped her eyes quickly with her hands and looked deeply into his eyes. It was Ghost, it was Emily, it was Becca and Juliette, and Leon that made her not feel like a monster. It was Geo that made her not feel like a monster. "Am I a bad person Geo?" It was the one single dominerring thought storming through her mind. "I don't thank I'ma bad person, but....." Her voice trailed off. "Never knew what it was like to be cared about til I came here."
Then, silence. Daydream wiped her eyes again and looked out the window. She wasn't terribly hungry anymore. She was trying to think of a reason why she didn't deserve to be in Gavin's hell, she couldn't think of a single one. Looking back at Geo her eyes were big brown pools of regret. Though twinkling beyond them was a hint of hope.

Kendra watched as she settled back into a sleepier state. She said she felt like ass. Kendra could sense that she was doing sounding a little better. Just sleepy for the most part. DocProf had healed her afterall. It was only a matter of time before she felt better. A little something something to help her sleep didn't hurt either.
Kendra was still sleaeping in the chair. Her physical body slumped over the side of the chair arm. Her arm was dangling and she looked uncomfortable as heck, but Kendra's astral body ignored this. Instead she decided to teleport over to the side of Xavia's bed and pulled the sheets up over her. The sheets appeared to creep up her body all on their own. It could be just her imagination from the heavy sedatives. Kendra never did really explain her powers that much.
Who's to say she wasn't just sleeping in the chair. Xavia was drugged. Kendra didn't even know if Xavia realized there was another presence in the room. Or that it was her astral form that was talking to her. Kendra's hand gently tucked the sheets over Xavia's shoulder and up under her neck.
Reaching up Kendra brushed a few loose strands out of Xavia's eyes and watched her sleep for a moment. She seemed a lot more peaceful. She was freaking out about it earlier, about Xavia falling asleep. Docprof said It was ok though. And he would know better than she would.
"It's ok." She said lightly. Her voice dripped from her lips with sweet motherly tones. The way a mother would tuck in a child who wasn't feeling well. "Just'chu feel better hun." Kendra knew she had some time to kill and sat down and started to play with her phone.
Every so often the invisible girl would look up to see her body or Xavia's shifting around. Kendra pulled out another one of her invisible cigarettes. Lighting it up she exhaled. The cloud of smoke was invisible, just like her but the smell of it filled the room.

Plopping down into a booth she found herself already not loving the place. It was the very definition of hole in the wall. Not that she was stuck up or snobbish, she just preferred if her breakfast didn't come with a side order of boctchlism. Daydream looked around and saw wallpaper peeling off the walls covered in light stains. She saw the half empty ketchup bottles and the little trail of ants marching along the window seal beside her booth. Lovely place he picked out. Daydream smiled at the waitress as she came by and asked what they'd order. She waited for Geo to order and said she'd have the same.
Shifting uncomfortably a little in her seat she found it was hard to look Geo in the eye. They had been doing crazy for so long she forgot what normal felt like. She felt safe with Geo, though she was suddenly realizing she didn't really know that much about the guy. He certainly was full of mystery. He lived in a sanctuary, he had some interesting friends, he seemed to have a long history of run ins with the police by his own admission. And yet, she knew he was a good guy, a good person. At least she thought that she knew that. She couldn't say for absolute certainty. She only knew the guy a day and she had to keep reminding herself that it had only been a day. It felt like longer so much had already happened.
Smiling and pretending to look at a desert menu she did her best to avoid eye contact. This first truly mundane thing they've done so far was sit here and order breakfast. Even in the coffee shop she thought she was being followed. She didn't have that impending feeling of looming doom over her, she just had a tidal wave of social awkwardness to doggy paddle through.
"So....Guardian, criminal, befriender of birds..... What else do i need'ta know about you." She said from behind her desert menu without lowering it. There was a hint of sarcasm in her sweet southern voice that sounded like sugary sweet tarts. It sounded more inquisitive than judgmental. She wasn't aiming for judgmental. Daydream lowered the menu slowly and dared to make eye contact with the man across the table from her.
She felt the familiar feeling of blood rushing to her pale cheeks. Her pale porcelain skin burning bright red. I almost kissed this guy last night, we slept in the same bed. Suddenly a wave of guilt washed over her and she raised the menu again cutting off their brief eye contact. Emily. She thought. Nothang, happened you were up all night readin, ya woulda known if somethang happened. "Well?" She asked from behind her menu to embarrassed to put it back down again....
A unique part of Kendra's ability was that she was always linked to her body. No matter what. If she were to fall and cut her hand in her dream, she would wake up with a healed scar where the cut would have been. If she ate while walking around in astral form she would wake up feeling full. The same goes for sense of touch. Kendra's body didn't wake up when Xavia woke up in her bed and pulled her hand away from a sleeping body. Though sitting out on the porch of the mansion she felt her hand twist as if someone was pulling at it. She
Kendra looked over to where the infirmary was. She couldn't see it from here, but she instinctively looked because she knew something was up. Kendra stood up and dropped her cigarette on the porch before crushing it out with her boot. Kendra started to head back inside. Blowing out a cloud of smoke into the cool night air she pulled the door open and slipped inside.
The mansion was eerie at night. It almost seemed dead in this place. She didn't like quite mansions with long shadowy creepy halls. She had spent enough time here wandering the halls in astral form to be used to it, but she wasn't. It still gave her the creeps a little. Kendra moved through th hall quickly making her way to the infirmary. The buckles on her leather jacket jingled with each step. The soft footfall of her heavy boots were muted by the plush carpet.
Kendra opened the infirmary door to see Xavia washing her face. She looked over and saw her body slumped in the chair. She hated watching herself sleep. She always thought she looked dead. She slept awkwardly. Her body was always twisted in some weird uncomfortable looking way. Like a corpse slumped in a chair. She thought as her eyes moved over to Xaiva. The door closed behind her and it appeared to open and close on it's own.
"Feeling better honey?" She said in a quite tone. She didn't want to wake herself. It was sleep. She needed the rest, even though astral projecting wasn't exactly restful, it was better than nothing. Kendra moved to the corner across from Xaiva in her invisible form and leaned against the wall smiling at her. "It's me, Kendra' by the way.... I'm using my power, don'tchu freak out ok?"
