The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Kendra sat quietly and watched as Doc fixed her up and she fell asleep. Well, she wasn't going anywhere. Kendra decided she would stay with her through the night. She was wanted the girl to know that when she woke up she would be there. Kendra pulled up a chair beside the bed she was laying on and got comfortable. Reaching over she squeezed the girl's hand and decided to get some sleep. It had been a long night and it was already almost 2 in the morning. Or somewhere close to that.
It didn't take Kendra long to fall asleep. Maybe about 10 minutes before her body drifted away into peaecul slumber. Kendra was now standing out side of her body. She was astral projecting now. It happened automatically when she fell asleep. She had no way to control it or turn it off. She was invisible to the world except for reflections. That was the only way you could see her astral form was in a mirror or reflective surface.
Kendra looked down over her sleeping body. Her hand was stretched out and holding on to Xavia's hand. She smiled lightly and found a blanket from one of the cupboards and covered both herself and Xavia up. With a heavy sigh, she realized her night was really just beginning. She would wander around in this ghostly form until her body woke up. There was nothing for her to do besides sit here. She decided to go get something to eat and check on her girlfriend to pass a little time. First she went to check on Emily.
Heading upstairs she quietly moved through the halls. She knew it was late and she didn't want to wake anyone up. Arriving at Emily's door she slowly cracked it open and saw that her girlfriend was sleeping as well. She snuck into the room and carefully brushed the hair back from her eyes before leaning down and giving her a small kiss on the forehead. And covering her up. Kendra left the room as quietly as she entered and headed downstair to find something in the kitchen.
Kendra's body was still in the room with Xavia. If she would up she would see Kendra sitting in the chair sleeping peacefully next to her, while her astral spirit wandered through the mansion. Kendra moved into the kitchen and began fixing herself a snack. peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. She made one and thought about making a second but decided against it. Instead she put everything back and headed outside.
When she was astral projecting, anything she fell asleep with came with her astral soul into the dreamworld. It became astral like her. So the phone in her pocket would also be invisible to anyone but her. She could still be heard if she spoke and she could still be touched if you reached out for her. She made sounds and could move objects though if she picked something up that wasn't astral and invisible, something she didn't "Bring" with her; it'd appear to be floating by itself. Her peanut butter and jelly sandwich was floating down the hall as she made her way out to the front steps.
Stepping outside into the cool night she looked up at the stars and wondered how she had let this happen. She knew Xavia was going to be fine now and that was a relief, but she still felt bad that she caused her to get hurt in the first place. Kendra finished her sandwich and sat down on the steps. If something was to wake up her body a loud noise perhaps she would disappear from her astral form and awken in her body wherever she left it last. Kendra didn't think Xavia was going to be up for awhile so she fished in her jacket pocket for a cigarette and lit one up. Blowing out a cloud of smoke she looked at the stars and wondered why she seemed to be a trouble magnet.

Oh no no no no no dont'chu do that now! "Heeeey shhhh it's ok sugar, just need'cha to open up dem eyes a bit. Come'on now, let me see those pretty eyes." She said as she tried to coax the girl from falling asleep. She was no medical professional, but she didn't want her loosing consciousness. Kendra gently shook her and tried to keep her attention on her. People in the infirmary started to notice something was wrong and ran to get the doc.
Kendra reached up and brushed the hair out of the girl's face. She couldn't rightly remember if she had even told her, her name. She wasn't thinking clearly she was a bit frazzled in the current situation so she just started talking to fill the void of silence until help arrived. "You know you saved me right? You didn't have'ta do that, you went out of your way to save me and now this is happenin. I'm so sorry that i caused this. Please you gotta try'n hang in there ok?" Kendra said lightly squeezing the girl's fingertips.
Kendra didn't know that she wasn't dying. It was a lot of blood and honestly when that thing was ripped out of her hand it looked pretty violent. She figured it was ok when the woman drove her back to her place, but maybe she had some kind of slow bleed. Maybe something about her mutation caused the bleeding to be delayed she wasn't sure, but the situation had spiraled from 'she is going to be ok' to 'please don't die on me.'
Finally the DocProf. came bounding over to take a look at his patient and see what he could do. "Alright now, let me see what's the problem." He said gently pushing his way past Kendra. Kendra let go of her hands and stepped back so she would watch the Doc take care of her. The Doc would fix it. He had healed Kendra's wounds no problem, he was a healing mutant and she felt good as new by time he was done with Kendra.
Kendra stepped back and covered her mouth with her hands. She didn't even realize that they were covered in blood. She smeared blood on her face, but she didn't notice. She was to worried about the mysterious girl who had saved her and welcomed her into her home. She couldn't help but think that this was all her fault.
Daydream looked between Geo and the bird. Was there some part of her brain that wasn't clicking right now? Did she just hear him say that he had dibs on her? A small smile appeared on her pouty lips, but she did her best to restrain it as the two conversed. Daydream turned back to the bird who was hopping around the window ledge.
"You know I didn't even think about breakfast. Hold that thought." The bird flew off from the window and Daydream turned back to Geo. "Friend of yours?" She asked smiling again. He seemed nice, a bit of a flirt but she didn't mind. She was just startled by a talking bird was all. The bird flew back to the window ledge now with a big juicy worm in his mouth. He crushed it in his beak and chewed it down. Starting to talk with his mouth full. "Anyways man there was this guy here couple of days ago. Real creepy ass dude! He was talking about finding the guy who was one with the earth. Kinda spoke in riddles. Think the guy just liked to hear the sound of his own voice honestly. But anyways i figured he was talking about you. He said you'd be expecting him? That when we saw you.... I should deliver a message...."
Daydream's heart sank in her chest. How? How did Gavin know to come here? We didn't even know each other a couple days ago. Daydream watched as the birdboy got distracted by something shiny glinting on the desk. He hopped off the ledge and moved over to it quickly and began to peck at it. He picked it up and dropped it on the desk fluttering back with his wings back to the ledge. He apperenetly wasn't all that interested in the shiny thing thing after all. "Sorry, just a pen. It's kinda hard for me to see and when i see something shiny.... Well.... Wait. What was i talking about?"
Daydream was crawling out of her skin. Just get to the message! She wanted to scream. "Oh yeah. He said when you see the earth dude, tell him that that thing is taken care of don't worry about it." Daydream looked at Geo confused. What thing? It wasn't any of her business, but she was still curious. Her heart started to return to a normal speed. For a moment she thought it was Gavin. First she was worried about Swift around every corner now gavin. Hello paranoia my old friend. I thank I'm gone go crazy. Have'a nervous break down or somethang. I need to...."Hey baby. Don't listen to old rock-head. There was no agreement. You see something you like?" The bird asked as she spread out his wings and showed off his tiny yellow chest. Daydream stared at him in disbelief. The absolute absurdity of it was truly hilarious. It was enough to make her giggle.
The bird looked back at Geo and chirped like a bird before speaking again. "Hey man, can i borrow five dollars? Figured, you're always looking out for me and all." The bird pointed at Geo with one wing. "You're my favorite wingman! You know that right?" Daydream was outright laughing now. This little bird was funny as hell. He spoke with a slight thuggish kind of swagger, she couldn't help but wonder what he really looked like. "I'm Kendra. They call me Daydream." She said to the little bird taking his wing and gently shaking it. "Oh word? Geo! You bout to loose your girl! Hey little mama name's Mac you can call me Flutter. Hey Geo man where you find this one? She's out of your league man let me take her off your hands." The bird said looking at Geo before he turned back to Daydream. "Hey.... You want to see my nest?"
That got another burst of laughter from Daydream, even though Mac was being completely serious. "Maybe some other time Mac." She honestly loved this little guy he was so bold and had absolutely no shame. Daydream blushed and turned back to Geo who was still standing behind her chair. "Now that'chu mentioned breakfast I am kinda hungry."

All the kids were going to classes. Most of the adults were teaching or doing their jobs around the mansion. For the most part they had a little privacy. Kendra smiled as they made their way into the kitchen. She figured she could rustle something up. She was a great cook after all, and what she had discovered was this place was always packed with food.
Kendra pulled out some stuff to make a full meal. "What'reya in the mood for big guy?" She asked as she leaned into the fridge to pull out a few things. She was going to cook it herself right here in the kitchen. Leon could help. She didn't even know if he knew how to cook but he was going to learn today.
"You're gone help me cook us uppa feast." She said pulling out some meat and some vegetables. She set the ingrediants on the counter and moved over to the pantry. There was a few aprons hanging there. She grabbed one for herself and tossed a larger apron she hoped would fit to Leon.
"You do much cooking? You seem likea fella who likes to eat." The secret being here that she was a gal who really liked to eat. She had started becoming known around the mansion as Daydream. The girl who dream walks. It was a cute enough nickname and she didn't mind it, but honestly if people know how much she boredom eats when she dream walks maybe her codename might've ended up being dumptruck.
"Hand me a fryin pan from under there will ya?" She said tying the apron around her slender waist. There was no better cooking than home cooking. She was excited about the notion of whipping something up pretty tasty. Plus it'd give her a chance to get to know Leon and she could show off her mad cooking skills. This was going to be fun.

Kendra nodded and grabbed the keys by the table. Helping the girl up and out toe the van she quickly got into the driver's seat. She was sure that this was going to be ok. It had to right? Surely she wasn't about to watch someone die. You can't die from a hand wound. But there was so much blood. "Just try'n hang in there ok?" She said nervously.
Kendra flew down the road like a bat out of hell. She honestly had to remember how to get back to the mansion. She wasn't from New York natively. She had only been here a short time. "Im gone need some direction here honey, try and stay awake!!" Kendra said snapping her fingers in the girl's face when she thought she saw her trying to sleep. Sleep would not be good. Sleep would be very very bad when you lost a lot of blood. Or at least Kendra would assume it would be bad. She didn't know these things! Oh man she thought as she flew down the road.
She saw a dashboard gps and plugged the mansion address into it. It said they would be there in about fifteen minutes. Oh please just hang on for a little bit longer. She knew who to take her too. DocProf. She had seen him work before when he heal some injuries of her own. "We're almost there just try'n hang on!" Kenda said impatiently.
She didn't know the girl very well, but she didn't want her to die. It would be her fault. She got hurt trying to save her. She had to make sure she was ok. Not only to appease her guilt, but for the woman's daughter. She had to make sure she was ok for her daughter who was apparently coming home soon. !0 minutes later and several broken traffic laws later they wre pulling up to the mansion. Kendra hopped out quickly and began to help the injured woman inside.

Daydream stopped moving, stopped being on the defensive when he burst out laughing to her question. In fact, she just stopped in her tracks entirely. Daydram stood there staring at him and blinked few times in confusion. What was so funny? She honestly didn't see what was so flipping funny, and she crossed her arms across her invisible chest and waited for him to finish laughing.
That wasn't a hard assumption to make. Going from a night club to an underground empty room and the ability to know when a mutant was close? It wasn't exactly a leap to someone who didn't have all the information, but still when he finally did stop laughing he explained that he wasn't with the government and that she might have seen him at the mansion before. Her ears perked up at the mention of the mansion and suddenly whatever distrust she felt towards him simply faded away.
Now she was feeling awful. Not, because she had be screwing with him this whole time, and not because he was from the mansion. But because he seemed a lot less scary when he wasn't some secret mutant hunting spy. Some James Bond esk bad ass with a Scottish accent. She felt bad because she was just casually screwing around with some poor guy. She was still the tiniest bit suspicious until he magically pulled a glowing shield out of thin air and declared he was a mutant.
Daydream was speechless. She had no clue that this guy had been a mutant. Honestly her mutant radar sucked. She never saw it coming when someone revealed themselves to her. Was she really that bad at picking them out of the crowd? Well dam. Couldn't this guy just make another glass of whiskey or scotch appear magically out of thin air? She found herself now more than ever wishing she could learn more about his powers, they seemed really cool! Though she hadn't exactly been forthcoming with her own.
With a loud Audible sigh Daydream began to speak. "I really am sorry. Look, I didn't mean to ruin ya night or whatever, but you have no idea what this is like. I can't just turn it off. I'm an Astral Projector. A dream walker. When I go'ta sleep, ma brain makes a physical invisible copy of itself and just plunks my thoughts right in there! I don't get to go to sleep dream'n bout big puffy clouds, or girlys in bikinis on the beach. I'm stuck wanderin around until I wake up the next morning. You wanna know what it's like being in a constant state of conscious awareness? It sucks. It tires ya out. I feel like I haven't slept in years even though I'm curled up in my bed right now snoring ma'head off. I didn't mean ta be a bother, was just looking for a bit'a fun. I was mean spirited and I'm sorry." Daydream said finally. Her shoulders were slumped now and her nose was twitching the way a rabbit's might. A little habit she had when she was nervous scared or upset. Right now she was just upset. Feeling like a world class asshole.
Daydream picked up a laptop that was sitting on a desk in the corner. She teleported over to the man who's name she still didn't rightly know and held it up to him. She opened the laptop, which appeared to be floating all on it's own. The screen was black because it was turned off, but the reflective surface was enough to reveal her on the screen. "Im invisible, but I can be seen in reflections, thangs like that. Oh! And I can teleport if you haven't guessed it by now." Daydream got quiet. She was overall feeling pretty crummy about the way she had been acting. She didn't see it as bad, but as something to keep her entertained. She never stopped to consider how she might be affecting other people on her little people watching adventures.
Setting the laptop down, still open on the table Daydream continued to stand there. Her face in the reflection was honestly remorseful and she stood there so that he could see who he was talking to as they spoke. She didn't know what this guy's story was but he didn't seem threatening to her anymore at least. "You said you live at the mansion?" She asked. She had so many questions but she supposed she'd start with the simplest first.
Daydream was sitting in the chair by the window. She was casually flipping through the pages of some dusty old book she had found in one of the drawers. It was a book on geneology and transmutation. A study in the science of mutation and it's affect on the human condition. She had no earthly idea what it was doing here, but she figured some previous lodger had forgotten it. Left it behind in their haste to rush off for god knows what reason. It was a pretty interesting read. It had managed to not only settle her nerves but it distracted her through the night.
Daydream had spent almost the entire night reading. She would occasionally glance over at the two on the bed and seem them resting peacefully. It as an odd sight to see. Geo and herself entwined like that. Her body was a bit restless when it came to sleep. She'd toss and turn and knock stuff over. Sleeping in a bed with her was like riding a bucking bronco. At any moment you could be thrown off and find yourself sitting on your ass wondering what just happened.
Daydream had noticed the way her body instinctively nuzzled into Geo. She had twisted through the night and come to be on her stomach. One leg dangling haphazardly off the edge of the bed. A single foot peeking out from beneath the covers. Daydream's face was buried deep within his chest. A light stream of drool dripping from her mouth a spilling over him. Her hair was a water fall of red that was anything but pretty after a night of tossing and turning. Daydream looked over at herself in bed and shook her head. She wasn't going to try and readjust herself. She had grown to be a pretty heavy sleeper, in regards to moving herself around, but she knew moments after she fixed her position she would just defiantly roll over in her sleep again causing another go at it.
Instead Daydream just red her book. The sun peaked out over the horizon and the bright morning sky crept in the windows. The gentle rays of the morning sky kissed her awake and Daydream's eyes opened. Across the room the book she was holding fell into the chair before falling to the floor with a thud. It was a heavy book that landed on an area of the floor that was uncarpeted. That was enough to shoot her awake completely. Daydream sat up in the bed and for a groggy moment she tried to acclaimed herself. She felt.... Rested for once. That didn't really happen for he when she slept. Her body had gotten a decent night's sleep.
Daydream looked over at Geo who was still asleep and she rolled her eyes. He had some goofy grin on his face. Wander what he's dreaming of. She thought quietly. Daydream never had dreams, only nightmares, the problems of her waking life followed her into her dreams, there was no off switch. Though last night she was able to distract herself at least. She didn't sit awake all night worrying about Gavin Sinclair.
Daydream slipped from the bed and slipped on her boots quickly and quietly. She left the book where it was on the floor and instead headed over to the door. Taking a final peak at Geo she decided to slip out for a morning walk around the place. She had watched him fall asleep. Rather, she had watched him toss and turn through the night from her spot by the window. He didn't appear to get a good night's sleep either if his sleeping moans were any indication. She'd let him rest. Besides there were enough mutants around to do something if Gavin showed up in any capacity.
Daydream slipped out the door and closed it behind her. She didn't get two steps down the hall before a twinge of guilt hit her. She couldn't slip away. She was thinking she would just go out for a walk, but she knew in the back of her mind she was really thinking about making a break for it all together. Geo had said it himself. He couldn't count the number of times he had met a mutant who stayed for a night and was gone forever the next morning. She was going to be one of those mutants. They had only known each other a day, was she really going to let him risk all that for her?
It didn't make sense. She knew he was a stubborn guy who enjoyed a good brawl, but that seemed like suicide. Daydream sighed and went back into the room. I'll just wait for him to wake up. She thought as she moved over to the chair by the window. Daydream sat down and picked up her book. She thought she could find the place where she was reading only moments before in her dream.
Just then a bird flew to the open window. Daydream had opened the window last night to smoke and forgot to close it. She enjoyed the sound of the rain she always had. It was another part of what had managed to relax her last night. The soothing sound of the rain reminded her that everything was moving along in the world just the way it was yesterday. The sun still set, the rain still fell. Everything was going to be ok.
Looking now at this black and yellow bird she laughed. It flew right up to her. Only inches away. It's tiny feathers seemed almost shiny as it's beedy black eyes seemed to watch her. It turned it's head and fluttered it's wings a bit. "Hello there." She said politely.
"What's up?" The bird replied. Daydream almost screamed in surprise. It was a mutant. One of the mutants from the sanctuary. She hadn't considered it to be a mutant, but appearantly there was mutant here who could turn into tiny birds that could fit in the palm of your hand. "Hey Geo awake yet? I gotta talk to him."
Daydream was stunned beyond believe for a moment. She just sat there staring at this tiny talking black and yellow bird. It's thin hollow lets seemed to dance a bit in anticipation on the window ledge. "Geo? You .... You got uh company." She called out hoping it was enough to wake the sleeping elemental. She didn't take her eyes off the bird though who's name was Mac. Mac sat there on the ledge and waited for Geo to come meet with him. He looked back at Daydream and chirped. "You're a babe did you know that doll?" The bird said making casual conversation as the minutes ticked away. This was just so bizarre.
Purple text = Dialouge White text = Awake Light pink text = Dream walking *Chat Alias* Melody (Daydream)
She stood there a moment, on the far side of the room. Listening to him she came to realize that he wasn't as angry anymore. That put her a little more at ease. She was always two halves of the same girl. Her personality, her mood always seemed to flux. In the day time, when she was wide awake, she was nervous and shy, mild mannered and not much of a risk taker. At night, when she was invisible she felt more bulletproof. She was a bit more mischievous and thrill seeking. She had more confidence usually when she couldn't be seen. She didn't have to answer to anyone, she came and went as she pleased and though it was boring she usually found something to keep her occupied.
Daydream didn't expect much when she started following this guy. He didn't look tough, or dangerous at first. He honestly looked sort of dorky. She half expected him to sit at the bar the whole night drinking his scotch, but then again.... People are full of surprises.
She didn't answer when he inquired further about her name. Daydream. It was a name as good as any other. She didn't want to tell him her name was Kendra. She was a little more at ease, but it didn't mean she trusted him. An hour ago maybe she would have playfully wrote her name on a napkin with her phone number and left a lipstick kiss against the white. Maybe scribbled a few X's and O's just to make it more interesting and slipped it under his drink. That would have been fun. She would have slipped into a bathroom stall somewhere and answered her phone that was resting in her pocket. Pranks were pranks, they weren't personal. She didn't have some ill intent. But now, she found herself unsure.
His whole demeanor had changed, but she didn't know if he was being honest. She wasn't great at reading people. She had figured this guy all wrong. She figured he was some shy guy maybe popping in for a drink after a long day at the library, or the post office or wherever he worked. Probably sitting at the bar for twenty minutes wishing he had the courage to step onto the dance floor. She fully expected him to crack under the pressure of a pretty girl talking to him, but she had even been wrong about that. People watching was an acquired skill. You watch for a bit and try and make up a backstory you think explains who they are. Though she was wrong more often than not. Like now for example.
Daydream took a step further into the room. As her foot was about to plant on the floor she teleported again, this time to the far corner of the room."I really don't know how'it works. I'm just invisible." She lied. She could have told him that she was sleeping, miles away, but she too was holding her cards to her chest.
"Suppos'n you woulda left with that gal.... What were you figurin? You were gone get lucky? Well, I don't thank she was right for you anyways... She looked high maintenance." Kendra said as her hand briefly touched something table then she stopped. She didn't move the thing because she didn't want to keep giving herself away. Instead she teleported again just to keep him constantly guessing where she was at. She was still nervous, but a little bit of confidence began to swell in her as time progressed. If'n he was gone try somethang, i reckon he woulda by now.
"You one of those shadowy government types that hunts down mutants?" She bluntly asked. She had stopped beating around the bush and just asked the one dominating question on her mind. She didn't know why that crazy idea popped into her head, but something was nagging at her. She still didn't even consider the fact that this guy might be a mutant. It just never occurred to her. The truth was, she saw him as some boring librarian still. She had a bad habit of making assumptions and jumping to conclusions before she had all the facts. A librarian by day, secret government mutant hunter by night who drinks fancy scotch and picks up beautiful women without even trying in nightclubs. Yeah... Sounds like a movie, but it seemed the most logical thing she could think of.
- But really though? I've been diving head first into way to much trouble since before your mutation first popped. You think I don't know the sound of a bad idea? Please. You're not getting off that easily Dreamboat."
"Exactly! You're constantly putting your head on the line for me! I don't want to get you killed Geo!" She shot back with surprising bite to her voice and a hint of pain. Her voice wavered a bit and though she was invisible. A silver stream of tears rolled down the cheek of her sleeping body on the bed.
Kendra didn't want this. She didn't want any of this. She hated that she felt so powerless to stop it. Kendra teleported around the room a few times. It was her version of pacing when she was highly agitated. She had her arms crossed against he chest in a defiant unseen gesture. BLINK. BLINK BLINK BLINK BLINK BLINK BLINK! If you listened closely the sound of her sobs could be heard coming from almost everywhere in the room. They were quiet, but she was upset. Finally she teleported right into his face.
His words came out as soft and caring, but she only heard patronizing and stubborn. He was trying to lock her away from danger and keep her away from Gavin, she got that, but it wasn't his fight. It wasn't his burden, she wasn't his problem! Daydream was angry now. She wasn't really mad at Geo, she was hurt and scared and just wanted to lash out. Now standing in Geo's face she hit him in the chest.
Daydream curled up her fists and hit him in the chest. She slammed frustrated fists into his chest again and again and again. All she managed to do was hurt her hands on his hard chisled chest. She was tired. So very tired. She couldn't even run if she wanted to. Geo would never allow it. He was probably one of the most stubborn men she had ever known, but he was a good guy. "You can't fight him.....He has to many mutants." She finally said. She didn't wait for a response. Honestly she was drained. She was more than emotionally exhausted and she moved over to the bed and crawled into it with her body. She just wished she could sleep and forget about the world for a few hours. To have that esapce that always eluded her.
She sat on the edge of the bed and stared out the window for a moment. He wouldn't trust her now, he'd be keeping an eye on her making sure she didn't try and run off. He'd no doubt just chase her. She just couldn't see any other way of keeping him safe. She may have been his main concern, but he was one of her main concerns.
"Fine....Ima not looking to make no bad ideas. Get'chu some sleep If 'n it makes you feel better gone cuddle up next'ta me and hold me tight, make sure I don't sneak off.... Just get'chu some sleep k?" She said still staring out the window. She would probably spend the rest of the night all the way through morning just .... Staring out the window. She was out of ideas, She was out of tears. She was just .... Out. Daydream turned to Geo to see if he was indeed lying down. We can figure the rest out in the morning. She thought quietly as she listened to the rain's pitter padder on the roof.
The man turned into all fiery rage in the blink of an eye. He was honestly a little intimidating to the sweet southern girl. So she was a bit of a prankster, and a bit of a clumsy fool. He bombarded her with so many angry points he was trying to make all in a row she honestly didn't know which to address first. Just a general blanket statement that covered all her bases. "Sorry...." Was all she could muster. She ended up coming off as a spoiled brat who got caught shoplifting or something instead of dipping into her trust fun. That wasn't her.
That wasn't the person she was. She was a bit mischievous, but ultimately a good natured person who spent just as much of her time doing good things as she did......Ok that was a lie. She was a nosey snoop who liked to people watch. It was her guilty pleasure. She didn't usually intervine, and just let their night's play out as they would. She would live vicariously through them as she followed them around. Most of the time they never knew she was there. She was just a silent observer, but she couldn't resist the urge to stir up a little trouble and she got chewed out pretty bad for it.
Kendra didn't know what to say. She was stunned silent for several moments as the man finished fuming. "I'm.....Daydream." She gave the man an alliase. It was something some of the kids around the mansion had started calling her when they learned about her powers. She rather liked the nickname, it was cute and it had stuck. At least around the mansion for the most part. She didn't want to give the guy her actual name. For one thing he was freaking pissed! Kendra stood up as he finished his ranting and opened her mouth to say something. Instead however, she just closed it again realizing what she was about to say wasn't a good defense.
She had no reason other than bordum and she had a feeling if she told him that he'd fly off the handle again. Kendra teleported to the other side of the room. Mostly to give herself a little space between herself and an angry man . "So how'd you know i was following ya anyways? I step in somethang? Leave some footprints?" She asked checking the bottom of her shoe.
She didn't see anything, but she was curious as to how he knew she was there. She didn't think she was making that much noise as she moved about, and the only time she really made herself known was when she shoved him playfully at the bar. Kendra's eyes narrowed at the man and she watched him closely. He seemed just like an ordinary human, but she had been wrong before.
Kendra realized once again that she was talking to herself. She stopped when she heard a sea of children moving past. Students of all ages just stampeded between her and Leon. She turned around and saw that he was looking nervous again. She smiled at him. After the students were gone she walked back over to him. "It's ok Leon you're not going to hurt anyone, especially me.." She said soothingly.
She didn't reach down for his hand this time. She simply stared at him with those big brown eyes of hers. She was still smiling, her pearly whites dazzling and her hopeful innocent eyes searching his face for some hope that he would realize that she just wanted to be friends. It wasn't a game to her, and he wasn't an expierement she was just messing with. She honestly kept trying to reach out to Leon because she liked him.
As weird as it might sound he kind of reminded her a little of herself before she got to New York. Before she found this mansion. Scared of her mutation, withdrawn. Awkward in social situations. That could describe her to a T. And it might have sounded stupid, especially to someone like Leon who probably often wondered why they were cursed to be the way they were, but Kendra didn't think she was all that pretty. She just didnt' see it.
Kendra stood there face to face with Leon. She saw pain in his eyes. A pain that she wanted to reach out and steal away for him, not out of pity, but out of understanding. She knew what it was like to feel like you were truly alone. To feel like, you weren't meant to have friends or people who cared about you, but everyone did. Kendra was a never ending optimist. It was part of her charm and her relentless need to fish around and try and solve other people's problems when she had more than enough of her own. But this wasn't a test, or an expierement. She honestly liked Leon for who he was, or who he could be. She didn't know him that much beside the fact that he reminded her of herself.
Honestly the first time they met had been kind of scary. When he snapped at her, she had to fight back tears in the library. She didn't want to cry in front of a stranger so instead she put on a flimsy tough girl act. That Leon saw right through, but she saw a kindness in the big brute's eyes. She saw it even that day in the library, buried beneath self doubt and self loathing. She saw in now as she stared in his big blue eyes. "Come on, I'm buying."

Kendra watched as she messed with the bandage some more. At first she paid little attention to it. She should have been more worried, but when she came back with just a simple bandage Kendra assumed that it must've not been that bad. After all, maybe the girl could regrow lost tentacle appendages or something. She didn't presume to know how her power worked fully. When she kept messing with it however, more and more Kendra began to notice it. It seemed almost like she was a rabid dog itching for a bone.
"Hey, you o..." She started and then she saw the blood leaking into her shirt. The crimson liquid staining her shirt and seeping into her leather jacket. "Oh ma'god!" She cried. She moved from her seat at the piano so fast she accidentally flipped the bench in her haste to move over to her. She didn't hear the questions about weather or not she waned a ride home she didn't hear the woman say she wouldn't be upset either way. Her eye was busy looking at her tear at the bandage and now she was freaked out.
"What do you need me'ta do?" She asked. She wasn't good in crisis. Sitautions. She didn't know that until right this moment, but she was finding out first hand how scarily uprepared she was for something like this. Towels! She thought, it was her best plan and she rushed through the house until she found a bathroom. She opened the door and grabbed a few towels off a rack and headed back over to her bleeding host.
"Lemme see." She said pulling the bandage away. Kendra took her hand and pulled it towards her. She dabbed at the blood that was coming out in heavy flows. This was bad, this might even need to be stitched up. Could she stitch it up though? Would that prevent it from growing back? Or would it not allow her to shoot vines from her hands anymore? She didn't know anything about mutant biology. God things she was sitting here with a biology teacher. Surely she knew a little about her own biology.
"What do I do? You thank it needs stitches?" She was more worried about this girls safety. This sweet, sweet angel who had saved her, was sitting here bleeiding everywhere and calmly trying to arrange a ride home for her, when she was seriously hurt. Kendra was actually a little mad that she didn't tell her how bad she was hurt. She could have done something sooner. It looked bad, but she really didn't know what she was looking at. Kendra's eyes searched the girl's face for any clue of what she could do to help.
Kendra turned off the water and stood there a moment. Not only was she restless and tired from last night. But she never felt rested when she woke up from a night of dream walking. On top of that she was so sore that it hurt to move. She felt like she was 80 years old and she had to be careful not to break a hip. Kendra stepped out of the shower and grabbed a towel. She wrapped it around herself and stood in front of the mirror.
The bathroom door was closed and there was a good steam to the room. She reached up a hand and wiped off the mirror just to get another look at herself. There was a black eye, a cut lip and hand marks around her throat. Peeking out of the top of the towel was the hint of a large purple bruise along her ribs.
Kendra sighed and her shoulders slumped. She supposed she could just avoid Emily until she healed up, but she'd miss her. She didn't want to avoid her. Kendra really didn't know what to do. She didn't realize that Emily had slipped into her room. Grabbing another towel she began to dry her hair as she opened the door.
She was startled to see Emily sitting there. So startled in fact, she let out a tiny scream and dropped the towel that was on her head. A whirlwind of thoughts ran through her mind. Confusion panick, shame and finally defeat. She looked at Emily and didn't say anything. She only blinked a few times. She noticed a pain in her black eye as she did. It even hurts to blink? Jeez!
"Hey....I" She started, but them quickly closed her mouth.
She didn't have a follow up, she wasn't sure what to say. She just kind of stood there waiting for Emily to say something first. Finally to break the silence she awkwardly smiled and let out a light hearted. "Hey...you."
It was pretty much dead on arrival. She was still smiling nervously. Say something, anything. She wanted to scream. She couldn't take the silence it was making her anxious.

The darkness that surrounded them almost seemed to swallow them entirely. Kendra had always been afraid of the dark. It wasn't helping that she knew there was death drop below them. Enough at least to make you have a messed up, not so nice, very bad day. Kendra may be asleep in her bed safe and sound, but she could still be hurt. If she broke her leg in her dream she would wake up with a limp and a dull ache. If she got a cut, she'd wake up with a healed wound and an old scar. Things transferred between the waking world and the dream world, though not exactly.
Kendra still felt pain, so the thought of falling even her dream filled her with fright. Though it was muted. Stiffled. She felt the pain, but it was lessened some how. Like her senses weren't at 100%. She may not feel it in her dream as badly, but the pain was magnified when she woke up. Kendra didn't want to wake tomorrow with any new battle wounds so she listened intently on Becca's instructions and slipped her hand into hers.
Becca's hand felt cold and clammy. It was probably nerves. She was wracked with nerves herself. Not to mention the fact that she couldn't teleport in the dark. That little trick wouldn't work here, and on her feet she was about as clumsy as a gazelle on roller blades. Kendra took quick breaths. She sounded like she was taking a lamas class. Those little classes that teach you how to breath when you're pregnant and expecting. She couldn't hide the fear that was coursing through her as they shuffled their way along the narrow pathway. She briefly thought about keeping her finger on the speed dial on her phone. To quickly press the button to call and wake herself up before she felt into a dark pit and possibly broke her neck, but she didn't.
She didn't want to consider the fact that she might fail. She knew she was clumsy enough to fall, but she willed herself not to. Keeping her mind on her steps and the sound of Becca's voice she followed. She didn't know Becca that well, but when she asked her to trust her Kendra absolutely did. It was an odd feeling putting your life in the hands of a basic stranger, but somehow Kendra felt comfortable doing so. She had seen what Becca could do, and she believed in her enough to know that she could get the mto the other side unscathed.
Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming swimming swimming. For some reason that stupid line form the movie 'Finding Nemo' popped into her head. Like she wasn't nervous enough without trying to get herself distracted with her stupid absent minded tendencies. She was actually grateful when Becca asked her about her powers. Something to keep her mind occupied as she moved through the dark.
"I astral project. I'm not really invisible. I'm not even really here. I'm sleepin in room 206, lyin comfy as a clam, probably snoring and keepin my girlfriend awake." She said in between her little breaths that cut through the silence everytime there was a pause in he speech. "I don't know how it works, but I can be in two places at once.... Oh! And I can teleport." She tried to keep her voice lower remembering what she said about things hearing them in the dark. She didn't want some horrible beastie to find them while she was playing walk the tight rope!
Kendra found this to be the hardest part of the danger room so far. Not so much the narrow pathway they were walking, but opening up about herself to a cute stranger. She wasn't always the social butterfly. Sometimes when the mood struck her; and it struck often she found herself a little more on the shy side. It really just depended on the personality of whoever it was she was talking to. Becca was for all intents and purposes a seemingly sweet and genuine person. It didn't help matters that their first meeting she had basically watched her start to strip and said nothing. She was still kicking herself over that, but she felt the tension had long sense faded. Now, she was pedaling form her back foot. Trying to beat back the social awkwardness that sometimes flooded her, and just give Becca and honest answer about he powers.
"I'm invisible when I dream walk, astral project, whatever ya'wanna call it. I didn't mean to be peepin on ya. I just.... Well, what else I got ta do besides snoop and be nosey when I got nothing but free time and invisibility." A flimsy excuse, but her mind was a bit occupied on watching her step. Still she felt a little better having explained herself a little more than a simple "Sorry" for staying silent when she took her shirt off. Kendra was about to say something else when her foot missed the ledge! Oh no! She cried out in her head and she had to raise her other arm to counteract the balance.
She managed to correct herself before she fell, or caused Becca to loose her balance. That was close. Be more careful fool! She scolded heself. Kendra wanted to beat this. She did have something to prove now. She had something to prove to herself. She wasn't some skilled fighter, or powerful mutant. She was a clumsy country girl with a pension for getting herself into trouble. More trouble than Becca bargained for perhaps. Kendra squeezed Becca's hand tighter more afraid than ever of falling as they continued across the pathway.
Kendra smiled again when she said she understood now. Ok, she knows I'm a mutant. At least that elephant is out of the room. She thought. Then something else caught her ear. She said she worked at the mansion? "I.... Thank you. I'm actually staying out at the X-Mansion. I have'a room there." She said. She watched as the woman rebandaged her hand. It was like the second or third time she had fiddled with it. Kendra wondered if it was uncomfortable or something.
Lightly shrugging it off She pulled out he phone and looked to see it was about a little past 1:30 now. It was getting late. Emily might be wondering where she was. Kendra's girlfriend lived in the X-mansion. It made staying out all hours of the night a little harder to do, it wasn't normally a problem when she was asleep. "Ima Dream Walker." She said, she didn't elaborte. She didn't have to, her power was pretty complacated to explain, but the mere mention of her being a mutant hadn't sparked much curiosity from the woman, she doubted the phrase dream walker would be a conversation starter. When Kendra went to sleep at night, her body made an invisible copy of itself. Her conscious thought was transferred over to his copy. She' would wander the world as a ghostly presence. She was physically there, but not at the same time. She was a 'dream walker' She always considered herself to be a dream in this form. An extension of her psyche forged out of some kind of psychic energy. She wasn't sure how it worked, but when she slept she had powers.
She could teleport around by merely thinking where she wanted to be, and she could only be seen in reflections. It'd be perfect for stealth if she wasn't so darn clumsy. Kendra looked up and absentmindedly tugged at the buckle hanging from her leather jacket. "Are you a guidance consiler there or somethang?" She had met a few there, Ghost, and Gemma the adapted human. There was Leon the lion boy and of course her girlfriend Emily, the empath. She never emembered seeing this woman however. She would have remembered such an encounter. But then again, she didn't know many people there she had only been there a short time.
"I wouldn't mind training wit'cha. I would like to learn how'ta fight." She said abruptly. She wasn't shya bout asking for what she wanted where there was something she needed. She needed to learn how to defend herself, especially being a mutant. The X-Mansion was a great place to learn, though she didn't know how adult went about training and learning to craft their powers there. All the classes seemed to be for the younger kids.
