The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Got a plot in mind?
MRO plots are player-created the Mods facilitate and organize the big ones, but we get the ideas from you. Do you have a plot in mind, and want to know whether it needs Mod approval? Check out our plot guidelines.
Miles should gain a collection of silly thralls. Mice that get killed in an explosion, and such. (And then Calleycat can chase Miles' zombiemice.)
And Allison... depending on how angry she gets, she'd probably volunteer herself for one of the staged beatings, since she's sort of visibly mutated but also sort of pretty cute young human girl, she'd try and get human sympathy that way. And/or then they could bring up the genuine/also staged attack on her and Cafas that we never really did much with. (Also, if there is a fake attack on her, she would probably have the short term intelligence and long term stupidity not to tell Aura about it, which I imagine Aura might react somewhat strongly to.) And she'll definitely try to work with/through Markus somehow, if she can figure out a way to.
Persi... hm. He wouldn't do anything that would have much impact on anyone else, but I could definitely wreck his life if he gets caught in it.... His parents would be perfectly willing to lead their sons to a riot to "help kill the mutants," and that would have some spectacularly terrible results for him....
Aura will of course however is useful. Yes if Aura did not know it was fakes Aura would try and track down whoever hurt allison and the results well, it wont be pretty. it all sound like a lot of fun, can't wait to terrorize
I would volunteer Aurion to kick it off, but after thinking a bit, I don't see it being likely that these certain officers would have cattle prods at the ready.

...Somehow, I don't find it likely that any actual officers would have cattle prods at the ready. Perhaps a more normal beatin' is in order, for our first volunteer?
Yeah... *Glares at all you human-looking mutants.* Though that does make me think for the initial video, even if it is low quality (though I don't know why it would be now adays), a visibly mutated female mutant could work nicely. Especially if they still human enough looking to tug that string. People wouldn't be able to sympathize with someone like Aurion, who doesn't look human anymore, as much as they would with someone like Gina, or Andy.

Alrighty, so I hear there's been some controversy over the assaults when it comes to the plot; I had some things lined up, and was trying to keep them under wraps, but it appears people preferred it all out in the open.
Gina was to be the second mutant assaulted, kicking off the protests. I wanted it to be a surprise, as I felt it would kick start the plot at the moment at which plots tend to see a bit of a lull.
I wanted Aurion to be the first expressly because he is such a visible mutant; he wouldn't garner the same reaction that a pretty, and innocent mutant would. I felt it would be even more controversial in the end; some people would see it as a monster being fought by officers of the law, and some people would see a helpless mutant that is being flogged because he is different.
I apologize for not being open about everything from the beginning; I hear the C-box has been coming up with some epic ideas for this plot, and I would very much love to hear them here!
As it is, with the cat out of the bag, we may see it fit to break from the original plan and find options that suit MRO better. That said, this, like all MRO plots, will be character driven; I would like to keep things just defined enough for people to know what is going on, without restricting them!
Personally I think Gina would make a good first assault. Many different sympathy cards are in play because of it.
As for one idea we came up with in the Cbox: Maxine, nationally known, who is very open about being a mutant, does her schtick about the first assault, could get some negative attention from NYPD. Especially once it's known that nothing has been done to the officers who assaulted Gina (At least to the public's knowledge). With a little help from the Order, two or three officers will be...pushed....to go after Maxine.
It would be real for Maxine, as long as no one in the Order spilled the beans, but it would be a staged thing.

*noms the Saph and slides cookies his way; communication, <3!*
To sum up the Cbox convo, which was plotted and re-plotted after we learned that you already had someone in mind for the beatings (though we were under the impression that the person you had in mind for the beatings was Gina, and she's be first):
- Gina: visible mutant and well liked, gets beaten first, causes outrage in the city from those who know her and starts to spark the flame (and while some, like Aurion, might take revenge at this point, the riots are limited and/or not yet happening yet);
- One of the new Order Leaders (Syn smiled evilly in a very "I could volunteer for this" way) realizes how very close the city is to the edge, and decides to tip things into full on riots by staging one more attack. And really, if you're going to pick a well known mutant who you won't feel bad about beating, who better than Maxine? Maxine gets her bum handed to her on camera, and does everything she can to fan the flames on her news spot (which is a nationwide broadcast; I've playing her as a B-list "celebrity" mutant, so while she's doesn't have a visible mutation, people have cause to know who and what she is).

Another idea we bounced around in the cbox was a peaceful protest-turned-riot, specifically as a gateway for students/mansionlings/neutrals to get involved with the plot.
Gina is beloved and popular at Xavier's, and it would only make sense that mansionlings would be outraged at the attack on her. But, as Calley pointed out, most of the students or residents probably would not be willing to join a revengeful riot, much less create one. A peaceful protest against the beating, however, is very plausible, and would suit the younger characters better, as well as neutrals who don't necessarily have any affiliations with the Order and other chaos-instigating parties.
But, as I said, this would be a protest-turned-riot, thus connecting it to the rest of the plot. Not only is Gina well-liked at the mansion, but she has a few friends at the Sanctuary as well. I don't think it would be far-fetched for Orderlings and Sanc residents to join the protest and transform it into a violent riot, whether it be out of genuine anger or deceptive manipulation. How any mansionling reacts to the riot (or in the riot) would ultimately be up to the writer.
Just an idea. I think this protest would be a good way for the above-mentioned to get involved.
