The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Got a plot in mind?
MRO plots are player-created the Mods facilitate and organize the big ones, but we get the ideas from you. Do you have a plot in mind, and want to know whether it needs Mod approval? Check out our plot guidelines.
*Chuckles evilly.* I'm glad that idea is out in the open. Maybe the prolonged dark mode, assuming he stayed in that mode for a while, would help with a future power growth...
human registration law... interesting idea, but in terms of numbers I think humans are still dominant on a global scale in the MRO universe, though player scale says other wise.
Huh. It certainly would, I've realized I can't have any real useful power growth until he learns to control what he has now a little better. I'm not really interested in ending up with new thralls, but if I end up with one, I'd have to find a way to get rid of it somehow without too much scarring on Miles' psyche. This sounds extra thread worthy. Also, I feel extra thralls will make him more powerful and I want to go slow on the power scale.
But the riot situation itself sounds fun. Miles joining a peaceful march with signs advocating tolerance and singing "Why can't we be friends?" only to end up turning into a reckless zombie slaver in control of two vicious dogs.
Perhaps a few staged acts of violence more so after the riots against mutants to gain sympathy for all mutants. I could get behind a lot of black flag things for the Order.
...Count on at least one PC human zealot ready to pistol whip you uppity mutants back into the genetic cesspool you crawled out of. Using your own powers against you, no less. <3
So... lets give this event a tentative break down, shall we?
It would have to start off rather calm in...
STAGE ONE
A news report would break the story of the act of violence. Perhaps we can use wolf news for this?
During this time, mutant/human tensions would start to slowly build strain again, mainly on the mutant side of things. You might get drunk discontents fighting in bars or whatnot, but mainly it'll be an unfortunate event in a sea of unfortunate events.
Until none of the cops responsible are convicted. This will lead us to...
Note: Someone mentioned a second attack... This might be able to increase tension as well; If Aurion is up to it, we could either have cops find a way to tranq him, and then start beating him with cattle prods, or we could have the order stage a second attack, police uniforms and all. This could lead to mutants lashing out at humans a little as well.
STAGE TWO
Tension will be at an all time high, with humans starting to stare at known mutants on the street, acts of mutant and anti-mutant violence starting to become more frequent.
At this time, peaceful protests will start to pop up in major cities around the country. New York will have such protests, and all are invited to get involved, though the X-men would probably typically be looking to quell the protests peacefully, while the Order may have more deadly plans.
Most importantly, the protests will culminate in a rather chilling scene; basically, at some point, someone will fire the first shot. (any volunteers? Rupert, maybe?). I was thinking either way, the Order would be instrumental in leading up to someone losing their cool, and firing into the crowd.
STAGE THREE
At that point, the protest turns into a riot. People who were sitting safely in their homes before might find that their place of peace has been broken into, their car is on fire, or, well, your neighborhood can be fairly serine if you wish.
The X-men and MRC would be tasked with quelling riots, and it would be an exhausting job, most likely keeping them up for days at time, and stretching them thin. The Order, and any neutral characters would have it easier, though I'm hoping to have it so neutrals will have the option to temporarily join either side, either as a FoX(friend of the X-men) or a FoO(friend of the Order); this would be an unofficial status that allows people to participate in different aspects of the plot as they see fit.
Finally, the plot would end when the national guard comes in to end it by force.
After this plot, mutant/human relations will be at their worst since before the registration plot, though once again, they will start to heal over time.
I'm thinking this plot could run 3-6 months, depending on interest, and activity, with 1-2 months between stages. This time frame is flexible, though, as is everything! Tell me what you guys thinks!
Monstrosity would be happy to participate in such an event. You got my vote!
Monstro would see the video. He might be kind of angry but he would most likely dismiss it but when the violence starts, you can bet that Monstrosity will live up to his name.
You've got my vote for this! Let's ramp up the tension all the way to 11!
Perhaps this would also be a good time to spread Conformatist propaganda through N.Y.C. even further. Radio broadcasts, TV commercials, and posters here and there.

Sounds like an interesting idea. I was thinking of pushing Clyde towards the Mansion, and the tension between the two sides might be enough to push him there and away from the high school.
Willing and able to throw a reckless 13 year old into the fight for Mutant rights! And look, disposable clone minions too! That don't leave bodies behind! <.<
Alright, so I'm thinking we have enough volunteers to make two attacks happen; One to kick off the plot, and the other to stir sentiment, and get the protests going. I also think they can both take place in NY!
Aurion, would you like your character to be the first?
The way I see it happening, is a shaky, unclear video is released on the internet, and quickly becomes a rather huge news story; The video itself might not have been so bad; it could have been written off as the only way to handle a particularly dangerous mutant, but the audio clip accompanying it clearly states that the mutant's only crime was looking suspicious, and resembling the description of a mutant involved in a few crimes.
At this point, I would like to open this plot to any questions, or concerns! It's starting to look like we could get the ball rolling here as soon as the AoS plot is wrapped up!
