Everyday clothing style: Amelia prefers simple looks. She likes to wear skirts just as often as she wears jeans. She doesn't wear many dresses, but when she does, they're awesome. Amelia likes leather jackets. She also wears striped shirts, and simple shirts. The kinds adults would wear. When she was younger, she might have worn design tees with obscure references, but now she tends towards powerful looks that aren't too girly. At least, she does so in front of her peers.

She also has a leather overcoat.
CharacterPersonality: Amelia is intelligent and understated. She studied hard in school, and grew up to be a serious person. There is a sense of humor there, just like there used to be, but it doesn't get shown much at work. She tends more towards hard ass... But she can joke around with the guys.
Amelia has a bit of a mothering streak. She has her mom to thank for that. Ami can be sarcastic. She can also be optimistic. She's honest and straightforward, but sometimes that translates into a lack of tact. She enjoys her freedom, a good joke, and irony. She actually knows what irony is. This girl isn't the lame nerd mothering type who bosses you around, and cracks snippy sarcastic one-liners. She isn't a flightly broad, or an elitist jerk. She isn't a know-it-all. She's
Ami, and she's cool with herself. And sometimes (read, 'all the time'), she's brutally honest. She's okay with it. That's just her. She hopes everyone can understand.
Ami doesn't like bossy people, and has a tendency to get a bit defensive when people shoot down her ideas. She was raised to be tolerant of people with values and ideas that differ from hers. That doesn't mean she isn't attached to her own point of view. She can, at times, be a hypocrite. Deal with it.
She's a very creative person who tends to think outside of the box. It's a skill that will be valuable in law enforcement these days.
Hobbies/ Interests: Amelia enjoys watching sports. Baseball, soccer, football, and basketball are games she grew up with and loves to watch.
She likes music. Various stuff. Classic rock and maybe some indie. Not much hip hop or pop.
She knows enough about Nerd Culture to understand references, but she isn't a closeted nerd. She probably watches the chic mainstream fantasy and science fiction stuff but she doesn't get too obsessed.
She still likes Classic Disney movies and Disney princesses, but don't tell anyone!
During her free time, Amelia goes to the shooting range. She trains often with handguns. Occasionally, she goes to shooting competitions, but she isn't the best there is yet. She's still training, but highly competent.
Amelia trains in aikido. She has trained since she was around 19 years old. She goes to competitions, and has won a couple lower level trophies. She goes to the dojo and trains several times a week.
Amelia is interested in classic motorcycles. She owns a Ford Focus right now. She wants a Harley.
Job or part time job and description: She's a police officer with the NYPD. And MRC.
Fears/ phobias/ concerns:Ami isn't really afraid of any animals, so long as the animals are friendly. She isn't afraid of snakes or spiders or rats. Sharks are cool. Shark Week is kind of amazing.
One major concern Ami holds is that people think she's bossy. She doesn't want to be like this huge bossy person. It isn't like she sets out to tell people what to do... She's gotten less concerned with being bossy lately. She's looking at becoming bossy as a career.
She tends to be overprotective of her family and friends, despite stating otherwise and trying to play things off 'cool'.
Anti mutant and anti human things scare her. So does the anti police sentiment that people display these days. What scares her more is when police actually are criminal.
Special talents: Ami is an experienced runner. She played soccer, and competed in school track and field events. She can kick butt on the soccer field.
Ami likes to draw sketches. Art is interesting to her.
She likes to sing.
Amelia is a talented aikido practitioner and a good shot with a gun.
She can speak French and Spanish. Both were learned in school. Spanish was high school, French was college.
MoralityGood/ bad/ neutral/ other:She's the type of girl who'll tell you when you're being stupid. More often than not, if you're breaking the rules, you're being stupid. Don't do that.
Amelia is a hard ass about rules, and about setting good examples. She wants to be either CIA or a cop.
MutationsMutation description:Clothing Manipulation
For some strange reason, upon first activation of Ami's power, it locked onto an idea. No, not a specific element or type of thing (like playing cards or chandeliers or polymers), but an idea. Clothing. In general. All of it. From shoes and shoelaces to fancy hats. Every belt or t-shirt, skimpy short skirt. Ami can control it.
Clothing is controlled through the use of mental constructs. These mental (or psychic) constructs are created through an effort of focused will. They're imagined. They be. They are psychic extensions of herself.
Amelia's constructs are semi-transparent. Inside of the vague outline of the main body, they shift and moves like heat waves coming off concrete. She calls this heat wave haze a 'filter'. Imagining constructs into complex shapes can be difficult when they're nearly invisible. By altering the coloration of the filter, she can make her constructs more visible. Visible constructs become easier to imagine. This allows for greater control of the shape of her constructs. When she imagines this colored filter, the construct becomes a singular color. She doesn't make multi-colored constructs.
Mental constructs can travel through all objects and materials, save for clothing. Clothing, they interact with. Constructs allow Ami to grab, lift, swat and pummel clothing from a distance.
Strengths:- This power affects any article of clothing, as well as accessories such as hats, scarves, and belts, but excludes accessories such as purses and jewelry that don't serve a function beyond fashion. Oddly enough, towels equal clothing. Sometimes.
- Clothing can be picked up and manipulated from a distance.
- Through the manipulation of articles of clothing, objects besides clothing can be interacted with. People, places, things.
- Ami's mental constructs can interact with clothing in a few different ways. They can either fill an article of clothing, like a hand filling a glove, or psychic energy filling the body of a scarf to let it flail and fly... or they can grab, toss, drag, and fiddle with that object, like that same hand. Tugging, dragging. Wiggling. Meddling. Psychic energy can fill clothes, the same way a psychic construct can fill clothes. This lets Amelia control things like scarves and overcoats with her mind.
- Mental constructs can take on any appearance Amelia wants.
- Ami can feel the textures of objects she touches. This helps her know when she's got a hold of something, as well as when that hold is too tight.
Weaknesses:- Amelia can manipulate a maximum of two psychic constructs at a time. Constructs that interact with multiple pieces of clothing take more effort to maintain.
- While anything Ami manipulates can be used to manipulate other objects through touch, objects can't move faster than she can physically. They can try and move objects heavier than what she can normally move, but they probably won't succeed. Ami cannot pick up and shove anything using her power with more strength than she physically has. A floating glove cannot punch harder, lift more, or hold back anyone or anything beyond Ami's current levels of strength. She struggles when things get too heavy.
- A shoe is still a shoe. Any article of clothing influenced by this power still retains its basic form, function, and durability. It doesn't stop being what it is. It breaks just as easily as it always would, did, and will.
- Mental constructs cannot be made larger than their creator.
- Ami can move mental constructs as far away as 60 feet. Beyond that, they hit a brick wall. They cannot go any further, and to try is a strain.
- Because they're semi-transparent, it's harder to imagine and work with some things. The only solution is to make constructs more visible.
- These constructs interact with clothing. Clothing can interact with them. Ami can feel it.
- This power is weak against nudity.
Power Growth:
Empowered Clothing, Updated for Power Growth (Approved: May 31, 2020)
Amelia Mellitus can use her power to strengthen clothing. Clothing strengthened in this way will be empowered to be equivalent to the protection of several layers of real-world grade body armors. These armors in question are kevlar weaves and ceramic plating. Only one article of clothing can be empowered at a time, and it takes several days to empower an article of clothing with the significant number of weaves required to bring it up to par with the various types of personal armor it means to emulate. When Amelia applies a weave, she is strengthening the clothing by imbuing it with many lines of invisible psychic tracery. The tracery bends in and out through the article of clothing, like the weave of a braid, toughening the materials of the item without changing the feel. Ceramic plating weaves harden the fiber of the material against impact. Kevlar weaves tighten up the durability of the object, so thing are less likely to fray or tear. It's a bit difficult to explain without going into extra dimensions and talking about psychic powers and residual psychic energy. Basically, she's pouring her will into an object, weaving it through the object's very core of being, and using her mind to strengthen that object on multiple levels. And she does that with two different types of weaves, which she can stack.
Not only do weaves take time to build up, but they deteriorate over time, and thus require a constant upkeep of repair. The upkeep is less significant than building up the weaves in their entirety. It takes anywhere from hour to a day to maintain an item’s empowerment, depending on the need of repair to the item in question. Damaged or worn items may need to be replaced, as the physical components wear out and are unable to take further weaves.
The power requires its user to place many psychic weaves of power over a single article of clothing. These weaves are ceramic plating and kevlar armor.
Strengths:
Kelvar is used in personal armor, such as combat helmets and ballistec vests, as well as in safety clothing for many sports such as motorcycle riding, speedskating, and fencing. Kevlar is present in a fireman’s protective overcoat. Armor empowered with this weave sports the properties and weaknesses of kevlar, such as protecting better against ballistics than against blades and large impacts. It provides a resistance to fire and heat.Ceramic plates are for blades and bludgeoning, though they offer some protection against the higher caliber bullets that make it through the kevlar. Ceramic plating is resistant to high temperatures. Its used in knives to help them retain sharpness longer, though it can be brittle. The weave for ceramic plating sports the strengths and weaknesses of this material, as well. Ceramics are also utilized as electrical insulators, in things such as spark plugs and ceramic arc tubing. This weave provides a minor degree of insulation against electrical charges. The more layers of items she wears with this weave, the greater the protection. Two layers can insulate her against a low to medium grade electrical shock. High grade electrical shocks will be lessened, but still severe.
The combination of the two armor types will help Amelia's single chosen article of clothing resist wear and tear better, and will help offer her greater levels of protection against ballistics, slashing and stabbing, and kinetic attacks (though only in areas covered by the armor). It will also offer her a higher degree of protection against heat (though wearing a leather jacket in high heat scenarios like warm weather will still be an absolutely stupid idea, because she'll still feel the warmth). Ultimately, what she is going for is a leather duster that protects her against being stabbed or shot or bludgeoned to death by big meaty ham hands.
Enhanced articles of clothing also gain a stain resistant and stain repellent effect. It resists stains and repels staining liquids, such as blood or blue dye. Amelia can also add a minor degree of water resistance to her gear, to help things such as coats repel water much in the same way water resistant spray might do. Weaknesses:
It takes between one week to a month to lay the weaves on an article of clothing in order to empower it.
Amelia can have up to five empowered articles of clothing created and active at one time. She can only empower one article of clothing at a time. She cannot work on multiple things at once.
Articles of clothing require upkeep in order to retain the degree of protection Amelia desires. Upkeep can take anywhere from an hour to a half a day, depending on severity, or wear and tear.
Objects can still be damaged. Highly damaged objects, or objects lovingly worn down into uselessness, don't take weaves as well. The weaves become more brittle.
The armor only protects what the armor covers.
Just because an armor can protect against low-grade ballistics, that doesn't mean it will offer as good a protection against high grade rounds. It might stop a round from a machine gun, but the bullet may also bury itself in the jacket and impart kinetic energy into Amelia's body. She will still get injured. Just because a bullet-proof vest claims it's bullet-proof, that doesn't mean it will stop a bullet without injury to the wearer. Getting shot will still hurt, and it can still send someone onto their ass.
The weaves will help protect against blade attacks, but blades can still find chinks in the armor. Clothing can still be worn down and broken. Her weaves may provide some protections against high heat and flames, as well as some insulation from electricity, however this does not mean she is invulnerable to these things. High temperatures will still affect her. The armor only protects what it covers. Extremes can overwhelm her, or her constructs. Too much of any one thing can melt or burn a construct, even in spite of its protections. Clothes need routine maintenance every 1-2 weeks. After 1 week, the enchantment begins to degrade. Repeated usage of its defensive qualities accelerates the process. After two weeks, the enchantment is exhausted.
Unbeknownst to her, Amelia leaks psychic energy. This psychic energy sort of “charges” enhanced clothing items. She renews the enchantment set upon them through her continued presence. While awake, the leak is a trickle. The psychic leak is stronger while she is asleep. Sometimes, her will can escape from her through this leak as she sleeps, and wander around moving clothes and causing trouble. This is quite inconvenient, and accounts for the loss of many single socks. This leak has a range of 60 feet around her.
The longer she is away from an enhanced article of clothing, the quicker the enchantment loses its efficacy. The general rule of thumb is that after 3 days without prolonged exposure to Amelia, an item loses its enhancement. After 1 day, the enhancement begins to weaken. If it is exposed to large degrees of damage, it won’t last 3 days. It will last 2. The amount of prolonged exposure varies, depending on quality of exposure, as well as degree.
3 hours of prolonged exposure to Amelia while she is awake can help to charge an article of clothing, refreshing the enchantment slightly. More time means more charge. While she is asleep, the leak is greater. Therefore, the time required to reach full charge for an item is less. If she sleeps within 60 feet of an enhanced article of clothing, it reaches full charge within 2 hours.
Full charge only means an article won’t begin to degrade if done within the first 24 hours. If done after 24 hours, it helps to lessen the weakening of the article, and may reverse the process for a time. It does not make it so items do not require upkeep. Items still need to be worked on routinely every 1-2 weeks, depending upon level of damage taken.
The psychic leak makes Amelia a beacon to strong psychics. They can sense her from far off. It’s a strange thing... it’s like sensing a mind. But it’s not on the same wavelength as Amelia’s own mind.
Energy vampires might have a high level of interest in this psychic leak.

Strengths:Weaknesses:Fighting StyleExplanation: Amelia uses aikido, and knows how to shoot a gun.
Pros for fighting style: She's a good runner. She knows aikido which is good for someone of her stature. She can shoot you.
Cons for fighting style: Guns are lethal. Aikido is a grappling martial art that doesn't focus as much on the flashy Kung fu crap.

History Of Your CharacterOn the 20th of December, in 1995, Amelia Shiloh Mellitus was born into this world. Born the daughter of Arthur and Bella Mellitus (as well as little sister to Aurum Alexander Mellitus), she grew up in a household full of baked goods, mysteries, and good influences.
There isn't much to say about her childhood. Nothing stands out. She grew up in a fairly normal family, with a mother who catered (and eventually ran a restaurant), a father who wrote, and an older brother who was cool enough to tag along with. Grade school in New York was fun. She made friends that continued on with her into high school. Lots of friends. She was pretty much a social butterfly, though she drifted towards the cool kids rather than the popular kids. She liked the ones that had a passion for something other than each other. Sports, music, art... Especially boys. Boys were kind of a thing. They still are, really. That pretty much never changes.
She went to
the Beacon School.
Her mutation activated a little befor her 18th birthday.
She dated mirror.
She worked at the mansion in the library and as a greeter.
Amelia graduated from college with a four year science degree, with a minor in business. She trained in forensic sciences, and can fallback on a lab tech position, but she wants to be a cop. She almost went into nursing but decided law enforcement was better. She took police academy classes while she worked at the mansion.
She passed the police exam, and became a police officer. She was a cop for several years.
When the rift opened, she investigated it. Her doppelgänger saw her and captured her. She was imprisoned on the alternate side of the rift for over a year. During that time, her doppelgänger infiltrated her life and took over (poorly). She neglected friends and family, and ghosted her girlfriend, Serena.
Amelia escaped super by creating a bulletproof vest out of the straitjacket they gave her. She returned to the real world, her world, and confronted her doppelgänger. During the confrontation, a rogue psychic mind merged the two. This left her doppelgänger brain dead, and her brain... something. She wasn’t sure what.
She joined and infiltrated super after super had infiltrated her own life. Ran super and police stuff simultaneously, until she was deaged and lost that job, due to an extended and unapproved absence. When she returned, she told SUPER about that situation, as well as everything else. Her true identity and the situation with her mind. She was put on probation.
While she was on probation, with super already wary of her, a witch changed her face. Amelia had to adapt to an entirely different appearance, and a world in which magic is real.
RoleplayWhere did you learn about this site?: Magic, reality manipulation, otherworldly technology, and aliens. ^_____^
Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Elliott.
Sample RP:The freak squad was out in full force again today. Amelia glanced at them from the bleachers by the football field. There they were, loud. The marching band marched by, drums pound pound pounding, music play play play playing, yet over it all... over it all... cheerleaders, cheerleading.
Cheering. Except in this case, cheering was less practicing cheers or jeers to inspire one team and infuriate another. It was practicing ass-shaking and pompom flailing.
Her lips quirked as she turned her attention away from them, tilting her head down towards the notebook in her lap. A hand dropped to the media player in her pocket, rolling through the tracks and upping the volume. She turned it up like one in need of shade and isolation turns down window blinds.
Carelessly, she dragged graphite across paper. The pencil drew the curve of some shape not yet defined. It was a start. A beginning. The rest was still unwritten... and yeah, she was listening to Natasha Bedingfield for inspiration and had just stolen a line from the song for inspiration. Who cared? Amelia turned the curve into the shape of a face, added squarish glasses-eyes, some buck teeth, and a ridiculous wind sock hoodie. She smirked at what she'd drawn so far.
"Derp."
Yeah. This was a great start. It was April 1st, 2011 and today was this sketch's birthday. The pencil was hovering in the air above his head. What would he do?
