Special talents:She is very good at playing piano. Proficient in Spanish and Italian.
MoralityGood/ bad/ neutral/ other: Neutral. She could not kill a person or order to do so, but she has no problem with lying, humiliate or hurt people just for fun or to achieve her objectives.
Without reaching narcissism, she consider her needs come first than any human being, in her mind she is slightly above the rest.
MutationMutation description:By touching a non living object with either of her fingernails, and focusing on the color in question she can steal it and store that color on her nails, to paste it later into another object.
As the color and texture of the object are tightly bound, she copy, store and paste not only color but also the external texture. This texture can only be perceived by sight, since it did not actually preserves the qualities of the original "texture". For example, when touched, the object will feel the way it would with its original texture.
Surfaces that may be affect has to be solid enough for her to be able to touch it with her fingernail. No matter the size, in height or length nor the width of the object. If the surface has more than one color, she can only extract only one color at a time.
The extent of the color at the time of copying or pasting is strongly bounded by contact with other colors and changes in texture. Just as the boundaries of the targeted object.
The color in two sheets of paper placed one above the other, can not be removed or covered at the same time. Even if both colors are the same. Each sheet is a separate object and act as a limit. If the paper had lines in it, the space between the lines would have to be painted one by one, as the lines would act as limits.
While copying and pasting she is actively affecting the color. But when she already had it stored on her nails, she is not doing anything actively. (In case of encounters with Adapteds.)
During the process of copying and pasting, Celeste has to maintain absolute concentration on the color name to extract it. In English. The color moves to her chosen nail at a speed of one centimeter per second, forming a perfect circle of gray in the exact spot that where the color was before. She need to completely remove the color of the object or the color inside a limit to stored it properly.
While copying, if her concentration is interrupted by external factors or by negligence or fatigue, the object will retain a perfect gray circle where the original color was, but the color already in her nail will disappear immediately.
When trying to paste the color into a new object, she needs to focus and maintain her concentration as while copying. The color move from her nail at a speed of one centimeter per second in a perfect circle extending from the starting point until it cover completely the object or reach a limit.
While pasting, if her concentration is interrupted by external factors or by negligence or fatigue, the object retains a perfect circle of color where it had already been covered, and the color still in her nail would disappears instantly.
At the very moment the process start, the whole nail turn of the color that is being copy, and while pasting it, the color just disappear at the end of the process when the object is fully covered. If the process is not interrupted. Of course.
Strengths:-No matter the origin of the color, the way it was painted or created or the original texture of the object, Celeste can remove it and use it in another object.
-She can make an object look like another one without changing its properties. For example, she can transform a plain dress into one that looks as if made of silver.
-She can duplicate colors. By fragmenting an object previously painted with her powers, she can get a duplicate of said color. For example, if she paste and completely cover a piece of paper, a cut corner can be used to extract the color and texture again, while maintaining a larger source of which she can get more fragments. The color stored in the small piece of paper, can be used to create more copies.
Weaknesses:-When the process starts, Celeste immediately lost vision of that range of color. And it does not reappear until the color is pasted on another surface. She see the color in gray, preserving the original tone of light and shadow.
-She can only store ten colors simultaneously.
-Celeste can use the colors stored on her nails only once each.
-To store the color correctly, she need to completely remove the color of the object or inside the limit in which the color is locked. If she lift the nail of the object or if she lose the concentration, the color is lost. Disappearing from her nail and leaving the object with a perfect circle of a cold gray, boring and impossible.
-The exact gray left by the extractions is unique. Impossible to reproduce otherwise. Celeste thought of it as unnatural, impossible, sad, lifeless.
-As she do not see the colors stored in her nails, there is the remote possibility that Celeste could forget which color is stored. In that circumstance, she should test each color name one by one until the process begins. (It is almost impossible to happen as she paste it almost instantly in another surface. But the possibility exists.)
-The more she uses her powers, the harder it is for her to obtain the total concentration she needs. After using it several times, she will feel hungry for the small loss of energy. And may experience headaches, even dizziness if keep using her power while having a headache. When her concentration spam is reduced to almost nothing, she need to rest for a while, take a nap, or distract herself with something that do not ask her to focus.
For a better understanding of CelesteĀ“s power read this thread please.Power Growth (approved June, 9, 2012)
With refined control over her powers, Celeste is able to choose the amount of color she uses while painting an object. She can do it in two different ways, by using a small amount to draw with her fingernail as if it were a marker or by over filling an object until the color overflow to adjacent objects.
Strength:
Drawing: If instead of keeping her nail static on the surface while pasting a color, she moves her fingernail, she is able to make the color slides like ink over the chosen surface. If she do not move her finger, the color do not spread from her nail in a perfect circle like in ānormal modeā, it just āpaintā a little circle. Just like a normal marker.
This can give her an infinite amount of grey words. For example, letĀ“s say she draw her name with a color previously stored. If she does not care for the word to lose its beauty, she can extract the color from her name and use it to write another word. Of course this would let the previous word painted in a depressing gray. If the surface under her fingernail changes as she draw/write, or if she lift the nail, loses focus, or crosses a limit as a line, the process stop and the color disappear from her nail instantly.
The color already in the new object would remain there.
Overflowing: By keeping her nail over an object once the paint completely covered said object, she can command the color to spill into adjacent objects. For the adjacent objects to be affected they must have the same characteristics as the original target (same material, similar texture, similar size and similar color).
Pasting/painting speed is slower than in normal mode, the speed is of one centimeter every five seconds instead of the usual 1cm/1s. The amount of surrounding objects does not matter at all, what determines the amount of time she need is the length needed to cover all the objects. (Example of objects that can be painted in this way: Small stones grouped together, sand, hair, marbles.)
She can also use Overflowing to āignoreā the natural limits in an object, for example the lines in a sheet of paper. In that case each line would count as a different object.
Weakness:
Drawing: To start the pasting process she has to focus solely on the color she wants to paste and maintain that concentration long enough.
The concentration required makes writing long words and names of colors an impossible task. As well as drawing something detailed. Limiting it to be used on short words, or one letter at a time for what she would need to copy another color from another source to continue writing.
Overflowing: When Celeste paints more than one object at a time with this ability, she is not respecting the natural limits of said objects. Therefore she weakens the strength of that color. When she paints normally, the color is strong and do not lose quality or disappear over time; however the weakened paint lost quality and eventually vanishes after a set period of time. When this happens, the original color and texture become visible again.
The time in which the color quality is maintained is 24 hours, after that time the color begins to degrade until it finally disappear.
If by accident she uses Overflowing on a single object, the pasting speed would be reduced making her lost time. The color would not degrade since she is painting only one object. (Thus not breaking any ālimitā)
If she uses Overflowing to āignoreā the natural limits inside a single object, the painted color would degrade and eventually disappear. (Example: If it is used to ignore the lines on a sheet of paper)
[Especial Note] For each of her powers the more she uses them, the harder it is for her to obtain the total concentration she needs. After using it several times (currently three or four times), she will feel hungry for the small loss of energy. And may experience headaches, even dizziness if she keeps using her power while having a headache. Then her concentration spam is reduced to almost nothing so she need to rest for a while, take a nap, or distract herself with something that do not ask her to focus.
Each use of her powers add more strain to her body and mind, while also halting her concentration leading to the power to be unable to be used for a time. (There is not a different between "tools", each one count to the rule of less focus, more strain to her body/mind)
Fighting Style None.
Explanation: She has no combat style. She would avoid getting involved for any reason in a situation as "barbaric" as combat. If a resounding slap does not destroy their pride, she can always call her bodyguard or run ...
Pros for fighting style: None.
Cons for fighting style: If she need to fight, she can not cope effectively in a combat with anyone who has basic knowledge of some martial art or fighting style neither one guy with enough willpower.
Faction AllegianceNone.
History Of Your Character[These are the events that are important, the rest of the time everything happens normally with Celeste attending classes and her many extra curricular classes.]
Celeste Manfrella was born in Italy while their parents visit the same city where they first met. Nicola Manfrella met Isabetta Rosso while she was trying to climb to fame as a model. After a casual meeting both lived an intense romance. She left that profession to devote herself to her daughter. Both agree to left to live in USA.
The first years of life were very quiet, for the three of them. When she was 6 years old, she met her best friend and eternal rival Estella, with whom she shares the entire primary school. This encounter changes a lot of her personality. She takes a lot of from Estella, maybe not the best. Many things about her personality are due to Estella and her father.
Shortly after she turned 10, her grandfather dies. (NicolaĀ“s father). So her father had to return to Italy to take over the family business. (Currently, he travel regularly.) Both situations caused a great shock in Celeste. She never quite overcomes the death of his grandfather.
A month before turning 11 she accidentally activated his powers while painting, she touched the paint and it turned gray, instantly she lost sight of that color. Scared she asked for help, and her mother takes her to a hospital, on the road she casually touch her cellphone with the same nail and she regained the visiĆ³n of that color before reaching the hospital. Seeing her cellphone was painted with the same color, she begins to suspect the nature of what happened. A week later she used her power again, in an experiment to determine what happened before. She success in passing a color from one object to another.
Celeste did not use her powers again until the incident with the dress (dress and bear. See Sample RP).
RoleplayWhere did you learn about this site?: Google.
Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Fausto Martense, Iron Mouth.
Sample RP:The pendulum of the clock did not stop moving. Seconds became minutes really fast. And Peter, the new employee of her father was not there. The desperation was growing slowly, it was climbing up her foot like a fat spider that ate too much and was not in a hurry to reach itĀ“s next prey. A chill ran down her back, that reminded her about her boring aunt... fortunately she was across the ocean and would not visit her until CelesteĀ“s next birthday. Her gifts were always excellent. The image of a giant package full of ribbons calmed her a little, not enough. Her desperation kept growing. Crawling as a imaginary spider.
Then, answering her prayers, he knocked on her door. (hand carved wood of the highest quality.) She loved that door.
She got out of bed at full speed, crossing the room in stride. She knew who was knocking.
Celeste opened the door of a quick jerk, Peter was about to knock again, he had his hand suspended in the air. The younger employee was a bit disoriented, he extended his other hand to her, handing the precious package with a somewhat clumsy gesture.
The girl took the dress in her hands, trembling slightly with excitement, for a very short time she allowed a smile to flourish, but the smile was a bit crooked. Peter that never seen her smiling with joy assumed that would be her way to smile... and seeing that his work was well done he even took the liberty to relax his face that had turned into stone by stress, along with his shoulders.
As soon as that twisted smile vanished from her face, Celeste slapped the young man with her open hand using all her strength. His face remained looking sideways a few seconds, when Peter come out of his surprise, he just managed to ask a question that the girl considered very stupid.
"Why?" He said.
Despite that, she replied.
"I wanted it red." Then she took out his cellphone from her pocket and called her father, seeing how Peter looked at it with envy she supposed he could not buy one as modern and sophisticated as hers. That made her smile, for real this time.
Just when her father answered, she hastened to tell him what happened, looking at the poor man with disdain.
"Daddy, Peter just ruined..." The usual, he could not remember the name of his employees and he was extremely busy. Celeste turned around to look the clock, impatient she raised her eyebrows.
"Yes, I know you're working..." Finally he said what she was expecting. She smiled happily again as she put the phone in speaker mode. The voice of his father and boss of Peter, was loud and clear.
"You're fired." She thanked him almost singing with a simple
"Thank You" while ending the call.
Peter, former employee, still confused turned his back to her, preparing to leave. He did not even noticed when Celeste closed the door.
The girl turned around to watch the clock, she had very little time left. She could only do one thing to fix the dress. She would have preferred... it was hard to admit it, even when no one could hear. Yes, she would have preferred to spend a day with her aunt before having to do "It. "
Her gaze registered the room at full speed, she needed something red. In the corner, almost forgotten, she found her old bear Pier, embracing a huge heart. Now she just had to... not yet. She ran back through the room, closing the door and the curtains on his way back. She checked all over again with a quick glance, there was no way anyone could saw what she was going to do.
In front of her, laying on the bed was the dress (same color of his name ) and her old teddy bear. His hands were sweating and shaking slightly, chills kept running through her spine. She felt how the hairs of the back of her neck bristled with every tremor. When was the last time she had done it...? Celeste was terrified. Why? Or she was a witch or a mutant. Being a witch she would end burned at the stake. Witches do not exist, but if they find one they kill her. Everyone knows that.
And if she was a mutant... that was even worse. That meant her DNA was corrupted, probably increasing her chances of having a hereditary problem. She could die as his beloved grandfather...
Celeste took several deep breath to relax and gather courage. She could not do neither one, but she needed to hurry anyway. Celeste extended her right hand, until the index finger touch the red heart guarded by Pier. That bright red inexplicably began to slowly pass to her nail, where it remained until she transferred it again. She hated losing part of her sight. That part of the process was what terrified her the most. She feared to lose his sight forever.
She hurried to end the process touching the dress with the same nail, blue was gradually replaced by red. It was hard to put into words, she always imagined a drop of ink falling into a paper towel. So the color spread on the new object, devouring the old color forever. It was almost witchcraft.
Despite the fear, she felt a little excitement while performing the trick, it was not pride, it was not happy but she felt an emotion hard to explain.
When the color fully escaped her nail, she was able to see it again. The dress was no longer blue, but bright red, the same as minutes before painted PierĀ“s heart. Now it was of a sad and dull gray.
Celeste looked sadly at the bear, he looked depressing with his heart painted gray.
"I will give it back to you later, it's our secret."
