Michael grinned as she mentioned her stubbornness combined with her powers making her almost invincible, though her way looked a lot more painful than his, and now that he had experienced pain he had a whole new respect for those who dealt with it on a regular basis.

“Well, I don’t think she hurt me much,” he admitted, “but it was the first time that I have ever experienced pain, so it was quite a shock.” he couldn’t help but smile at his bad pun. “So I’m guessing that you ran into something big enough to put you out of the fight. What was it, Godzilla?”

Emerald laughed at his comment about godzilla, considering the fact to her that basically what she fought.

"Well basically it was a giant freaky monster. So you could say it was godzilla. Or freak zilla. Or Giant thing that almost killed me. He wore me down and after I was already bleeding from the fight before, I would'nt have been a useful because I can hardly move after my transformation. And with all those TV cameras me turning into a human form infront of them would put me on america's most wanted list...again. But now Im sure my team is mad at me." Emerald growled, clenching her fists feebly slamming on the strecher.

"I should have stayed, I'm sure there was more fight left in me."

Michael listened with a little awe as she told him what had happened. When she slammed her fists down he stepped forward and caught one to stop her doing it again. “Hey,” he said, “I’m sure they’ll understand.”

“I grantee that they would feel worse if you had hung around and gotten yourself killed. From the looks of it the big freak did a number on you. Besides, you took out three, so it’s not like they can accuse you of not pulling your weight.”

“From where I’m standing it looks like you gave it your all, then pulled out before you became a liability. What more can they ask for?” He gave her a warm smile and sat on the edge of the bed, still holding her fist in his hand.

Shawn saw Michael, Ted and Mettaliar walk back into the infirmary. Shawn decided that once the two sisters of this girl left he should probably go as well. He got up just as Michael had started talking to her and decided that they probably know each other. He walked out of the infirmary and decided that it was better if he just went to relax and hang out with some of his friends after the battle he went through.

As soon as he stepped out of the infirmary he saw just how much damage had been down to the mansion during their fight with Iris. "Wow. That's going to take some time to clean up." Shawn said walking through all the debris and rubble and making his way to a less demolished part of the mansion.

Emerald blushed a bit when Micahel talked to her. The fact that he was still holding her hand threw her for a huge loop. Her mind of course snapped her out of it.

IDIOT! IDIOT! YOU HAVE A BOYFRIEND! BAD WOLF! BAD! BAD! Her mind screamed at her.

Emerald was still blushing when she slid her hand out of his. She nodded a bit to what he was saying, knowing he was right. Though he was cute she shouldnt really think in the way she was thinking, she had a boyfriend who was staying at the mansion because of her. Though he had been an ass for a while for leaving without saying good bye, at least he was back.

Besides Me and Johnny are more alike than me and Michael. I wouldnt want Michael to be held back by a girl like me. There is to much drama.

Emerald smiled a bit at him. "Your'e right, and if you can convince them of that you will be my hero for the day." Emerald responded with a sweet smile

Michael let go when he felt her pulling her hand out of his. In truth he had forgotten hat he was holding it until she did. He saw her blushing and that just made him smile. But Ruby had said she had a boyfriend, so he wouldn’t make a move on her.

“Well you’ve already admitted that I’m right,” he said still smiling, “so I’m at least part way there. My advice is don’t worry about it until the rest of your team gets back, just rest and let your wounds heal.”

“Once they come back and start yelling, then you can worry about it,” he said with a cheeky grin.

Emerald growled at him, tail wagging back and forth playfully. She didnt mind Michael, he seemed like a nice guy. Didnt mean she trusted him. But he seemed nice.

Em laid her head back down on the pillow, tail wagging back and forth slowly. "I hope they are okay without me."

"Technically, Haywire caused this."

"Technically?" Iris repeated dully. Technically Jack didn't cause damage; she caused others to cause damage. Flashes of images were going through her head, and while none of them made much sense, she had a sudden sinking feeling who Jack's Haywire effect had been working on...

She put one hand on the nearby wall, suddenly feeling weak. She took the bottle of water that seemed to appear before her, not really seeing the floating bot that was holding it. She cracked the seal on the lid, but didn't open it. The action was more reflex than anything. As a girl with fox features rushed by, headed for the infirmary, Iris remembered the other girls there. She followed her back to infirmary, and stood off to one side. Half of her brain listened to the conversation, while the other half tried to recall the missing bits in her memory.

"I am so Sorry about that! Do you need any help?" She looked down, realizing the foxgirl, Ruby, was talking to her. "I didnt mean to run past you I was just sorta worried about my sister. Maybe you should go back to your bed, you dont look like you are feeling one hundred percent. If you want I can get one of my Robots to take you to bed."

"Thank you. I'm... okay..." It was obvious she wasn't. Faces and voices were all blurring together at that moment, none of them really penetrating her thoughts. An image of that first nightmare kept popping up in front of her eyes, and the brown-red stain on the ground that greeted her when she woke.

She shuddered and shook her head, trying to clear it. She blinked and became slightly more aware of the room's occupants. She turned her head slightly toward those nearest to her.

"Was anyone... hurt, or..." She couldn't bring herself to finish the sentence. The water bottle in her hand crackled a bit; she didn't realize she was squeezing it, but her knuckles were turning white.

She looked up at the girl in the bed, Emerald. She was smiling, as was the boy by the bed. Iris didn't want to ask her anything depressing, but she needed to know something, and it sounded like Emerald might know. She stepped forward a bit.

"I-I'm sorry to... interupt... You said you were... fighting? A monster? Did he have... four arms? And silver hair? Or did you see another guy... that could make diamond shards? And was Tricity with you?" Her voice was shaking, as were her clenched fists.

“Well seeing as you took out three of the bad guys before leaving I’m sure that they’ll be fine,” Michael said with a smile, trying to reassure Emerald. Of course he had no idea how many bad guys there were nor what kind of situation they were in he couldn’t back up that claim.

“So,” he said, trying to take her mind off her team, “I hear you just turned seventeen. Well I wish you a delayed happy birthday.”

Mettaliar nodded at the silver man before Iris took off to head back to the infirmary. He put his hands in his pockets and leaned against the wall as he watched Iris walk away. He would follow her back again, though he figured she would be better talking to the people she wanted answers from, rather than some random guy. He sighed and looked out to the destroyed mansion and cracked his neck.

Before Iris entered the room, he had shouted an answer to her question. "No, no one was hurt. Not more than maybe bumps and bruises at least. Don't worry." He had hoped she heard him, and went back to staring out into the broken down mansion. Dang, we are gonna have to explain a LOT to Tricity when she comes back.

As some of his hair began to droop over his face he took out a knife and began to twirl it. He knew some people might freak out, though he felt he had the trust of his peers that he would not harm them. It was his... meditation of sorts. He felt calm. He also took out his iPod that he had kept in his pocket, and turned on some music for himself. After all the pressure of the attack and the now horrifying aftermath taking place, he needed something to calm his nerves. He turned on the most calming music he could find, Jimi Hendrix.

Emerald smiled when Michael remembered her birthday. Ruby must have told him about it or something...or he had been reasearching her. Parry the thought. "Well I suppose someone has to remember my birthday. It was in April and so far, the only people that remembered was the family and you. Not even my X men friends remembered, no love for the second youngest member." Emerald shook her head.

She was really upset that still the people she was closet to forgot her birthday. Emmy sighed, tail drooping a bit, getting serious when Iris asked her about the monster. "Yea thats the monster, He killed a human when I threw him, that was my fault though. But besides for the huge gaping wounds in my shoulder and the scratch marks on my back, I beat him. He is unconciess now. Tricity is there, dunno where and dont remember a guy that can do that. I remember a random guy trying to stop the fighting. But thats pretty much it after the shot when in me I only remember bits and pieces." Emerald responded, rubbing her temples gently

Iris turned her head a bit when Mett answered her. A wave of relief swept over her. "Thank you," she whispered, though most likely he couldn't hear. When Emerald spoke up again, she turned back.

A loud POP! sounded, and something hit the wall nearby. Suddenly Iris felt something wet on her hand and leg. Looking down, she realized that the lid had popped off of the water bottle, and water had spilled everywhere. She blinked, and looked at the crushed bottle, realizing what she'd done. The momentary flash in her eyes disappeared quickly.

"I-I'm sorry," she stuttered. She looked around for a towel to clean up the mess.

Suddenly she felt unbelieveably dirty. And claustrophobic. She hadn't bathed or changed clothes in days, and she just felt... filthy....

"I've go-got to go. I'm sorry. Um, thank you. F-for the information." She made an awkward half-bow toward Emerald and those around her. "I hope y-you'll be okay. And c-congrat-tulations. I'm sorry."

She turned and all but ran out of the room. She passed Mett and Shawn without really seeing them, got momentarily lost, then found her way back to her room.

Michael saw Iris shoot off, and wanted to go and make sure she was alright. However, he felt that she could probably use some time alone to come to grips with what happened. Plus he was enjoying talking to Emerald.

“She’s had a rough day,” he said, “She’s taken similar punishment to me, only with out the invincibility. Fortunately the doc here fixed her up just fine. On a lighter note if you’d take a while longer before getting back I might have had a birthday present for you.”

Grinning at Emerald he explained, “After talking with Ruby we decided to go into the city and get you a little something from me. We were just about to leave in fact when you Ruby somehow knew you were here and dashed of to see you.”

Emerald smiled a bit, tail wagging back and forth. Now birthday present's were a thing she didnt mind. She watched when Ruby scurried back over to her side, green eyes filled with worry.

"Aww thank you, that would be nice." Emerald said in response to Michael gesture about getting her a gift.

Ruby sighed a bit. "Emmy shouldnt you be getting rest? I talked to Doc and he said you lost alot of blood."

Emerald shook her head groggily. "Me? Loose blood? No Im invincible!" Emerald grogilly said, looking as if she was drunk.

Emmy was lucky because her bloodtype, B-, just happened to be in stock. One of the attendents put the needle in Emerald's arm and began giving her the transfusion.

"How much blood did she loose?" Ruby asked, her eyes wide.

"Bout a 2 pints, good thing she came in when she did." The attendent responded, before prepping the other tables.

"Is a two pints alot?" Em asked with a wolfish grin on her face.

Michael looked over at the doctor, but they seemed to have everything under control. He would have offered to donate some blood to help, only as the needle couldn’t penetrate his skin there wasn’t any way to get blood out of him and into Emerald.

“Don’t worry Ruby,” Michael said with a smile, “The doctors here have it under control, and from what I’ve heard your sister is almost as tough as me. Emerald, you’re nearly invincible, not actually invincible, so maybe next time you try and keep some more of your blood inside you.” He gave her a warm smile to show he was joking and to try and keep her focus and Ruby’s on him and not the doctors trying to get more blood into Emerald.
