The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Uniform: None Sleepwear: Cotton pj pants mostly. Miscellaneous clothing: Andrew owns a few pairs of dress slacks and button down shirts for when he needs to dress up.
Character
Personality: Prior to his disappearance from the Mansion and the life he'd built there Drew had been angry and bitter. During his time away he learned to put those emotions aside. As a result he's become a much more calm and collected individual now. He also smiles more than he used to. Drew is still loathe to share his problems with others though. He'll eagerly help out a friend in need with few questions asked but asking for help for himself is much more difficult.
Drew is an exceedingly loyal person. Those that have his respect while find it difficult to lose. This also ensures that it is difficult to earn back that respect and loyalty if it is broken. His opinions are not easily mutable without significant evidence. Hobbies/ Interests: Reading, Boxing, Martial Arts, Swordplay, Meditation Job or part time job and description: Assistant to Sam aka Cold Steel at the Mansion. Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Over time and experience Drew has mostly mastered his fear of exploitation. In place of his fear of exploitation is a fear of torture. Drew can cope with a fair amount of pain. It's psychological torture that he's developed a fear of. He is however still somewhat afraid of tomatoes since he’s deathly allergic to them. Special talents: Baking, Andrew always helped his mom out when she baked and he picked up the skill from her easily.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Drew is a good person at heart. He's done some questionable things in the past but this has only served to strengthen his resolve to stand against evil when he meets it.
Mutations
Mutation description: Self Complusion: Andrew’s word is his bond. If he promises to do or not do something he is bound to that promise and breaking it causes him pain and/or injury depending on the seriousness of the promise and the time limit, if any, on completing it. In order for the mutation to activate Andrew must say the words “I promise”. He will feel compelled to do whatever it is he has promised and if a time limit has been placed the feeling will get stronger as the limit draws nearer. Andrew can ignore these feelings but it takes a lot of willpower to do so.
A black tattoo-like band appears around Andrew’s left wrist when he has an unfulfilled promise and further promises will cause other bands to appear on his left arm starting from the wrist and going all the way up to the shoulder. Once the left arm is covered these visual reminders of his promises can spring up anywhere on his body. Once a promise is made only the person it was made to can release Andrew from it.
Strengths: This makes him very good at keeping secrets and he’ll almost never let a person down if he can avoid it. Weaknesses: If he makes a bad promise or is forced to make a promise he can’t possibly keep there is nothing he can do about it unless the person releases him from it.
Secondary mutation description: Compulsion: Andrew is also capable of compelling others to keep their promises to him. This will require the same strict wording, I promise followed by the promise, as his promises to others. The promise must be made directly to him, instead of heard in passing. However any promise with the proper phrasing will cause Andrew to feel briefly connected to the person speaking the words. Promises made by others to him under the influence of his power have all the same drawbacks and effects as one he himself makes. Both Andrew and the person in question will sport the marks to show the promise. The marks themselves have become more complex as a means of differentiating between his own promises and the promises of others. Each person, Andrew included, will have a unique design and color of mark. Beyond this superficial change the marks remain the same and the rules that govern where they appear on Andrew also apply to others.
Strengths: People are much more likely to cooperate when faced with pain, injury, or possibly death should they break a promise. The compulsion inherent in the promise also aids in this regard. Additionally this ability can be used as a weapon should the person be given a promise that they cannot possibly keep, among other dangerous uses.
Weaknesses: The trigger words for the ability are incredibly specific. No deviation is allowed in either the words themselves or their place in the sentence. Not only that but any use of the ability hinges on Andrew being able to either maneuver the person into the promise in conversation or find some means of forcing them into saying the words.
Fighting Style
Explanation: A mixture of boxing, kenpo, and tae kwon do. He's not a master at any of the three styles but knowing some of them allows him to mix and match his moves. Drew's capable of using a sword if he needs to but doesn't usually do so. Pros for fighting style: Great at punching and capable of mixing up his style if necessary. Cons for fighting style: As a Jack-of-all-Trades sort of fighter he's not spectacular at anything and that can be a problem when facing someone very skilled.
Faction Allegiance
X-Men
History Of Your Character Growing up in Lexington Andrew was a good child. Always did what he was told and kept his promises. He was a little quiet but he had plenty of friends. He did better than most in school but Andrew was no genius. All in all life was good for the Kentucky boy until he was sixteen years old. He’d been excited about getting his license so his friends had convinced him to drive them around and maybe go to the mall. Andrew’s mom was fine with this as long as they were back by ten.
Andrew promised his mom he’d be back on time and thought nothing of it. Everything started out fine but the closer it got to ten the more anxious Andrew got and the more often he tried to convince his friends they should go back. Even weirder was the black tattoo thing around his wrist that Andrew had no idea when or how he’d gotten it. When his friends finally relented and agreed to head home there was no way Andrew was going to get home on time. When the car clock hit ten and they hadn’t yet reached Andrew’s house a searing pain erupted behind Andrew’s eyes.
He couldn’t see straight it hurt so bad. His friends were shouting but he had no idea why. When his vision cleared he had strayed into oncoming traffic and only just swerved back into his lane in time to avoid an accident. By the time he’d dropped off his friends and gotten home Andrew had put it down to a freak accident and took his one week of no car privileges for not being home on time with as much dignity as a sixteen year old boy could muster. It didn’t seem like it would happen again until he promised his teacher he’d have his report to him by the beginning of class on Friday and stepped into the class room just after the bell. This time the pain was in his hand and made him drop his books.
After three more similar incidents Andrew began to wonder what was happening and told his parents about the strange pains. They took him to the doctor but they could find nothing wrong with him. Andrew couldn’t believe there wasn’t something wrong so he poured over each of the events in his mind until he realized what they had in common: the black bands that appeared on his wrist and broken promises. Just to test it he promised himself he wouldn’t watch any tv that night and sure enough the black band appeared. A minute later he turned on the tv only to have his calf start aching for no reason whatsoever.
A couple more experiments like that proved it. For whatever reason Andrew now had to keep his promises or be punished for it. Little by little his personality changed as he realized just how much of an impact this had. He couldn’t carelessly make promises anymore. And what if someone found out? Over the course of a few months he stopped seeing his friends and barely spoke save when addressed directly. His parents were worried but they didn’t want to doing anything if there was nothing wrong. Andrew’s grades didn’t suffer in the least, in fact they improved in some areas.
In the end Kevin and Lillian Leroy left their son alone and he graduated high school with grades excellent enough to earn him plenty of scholarships to whichever college he picked. He decided on a university in New York City and his parents saw him off the next fall. He got an apartment near the campus with a couple of roommates who didn’t care that he was most silent and ignored them as long as he paid his portion of the rent on time. What his scholarships didn’t cover his parents did. Two years into his higher education and very little has changed for Andrew. He’s still quiet and careful with his words. He’s still scared stiff that someone will find out what he is and use it against him somehow but it hasn’t happened yet.
Roleplay Where did you learn about this site?: Google Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: None whatsoever Sample RP: Andrew’s hair was blue today due to a fresh dye job and thanks to the gel in it the breeze couldn’t stir a single strand of it. His legs pumped the bicycle’s pedals as he guided it around the campus, dodging students and cars as necessary. This was Andrew’s true alone time. When he could just exist and not have to think or worry so much. Classes were easy if he just worked hard enough at them. Those didn’t even register on his stress meter. No what got Andrew stressed was promises and keeping them.
That probably wouldn’t phase most people. Most people didn’t have their head or any other part of their anatomy explode in pain if they didn’t keep their promises. Andrew did, in fact he’d found out the hard way that if he broke a big enough promise he could even injure himself. Nothing quite like needing stitches across your right bicep to make you keep your promises. Andrew just counted himself lucky that the only visual account of his abnormality was the band tattooed bands that appeared on his left arm when he made a promise. That meant he could hide.
The very last thing he wanted anyone discovering was that if they could get him to promise to do something he had to do it or deal with some pretty severe pain if not injury. That would just open up a world of possibilities that Andrew didn’t like the idea of one little bit. Just thinking about it made him so nervous he didn’t mind where he was going and nearly hit an old woman.
“Sorry ma’am. Are you ok?”
Andrew couldn’t very leave if she was hurt.
“I’m fine son. Don’t worry about me. Go on.”
That was all the reassurance he needed. Andrew took off again and steered the bike back toward his apartment. Maybe he’d bake some cookies or something when he got back.
Awww, Aurum beat me to mentioning the Geis. Duh. The character is awesome And the power is very cool. And for some weird reason I'd like to see him meet Paradox xD Welcome to MRO, Andrew, have lots of fun here!
