The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Sleeves? Kealey nodded, ”Oh there’ll be sleeves, a vest all the time would look far more silly than simply a jacket. Though, you might stick out a little with long sleeves in the middle of the New York summer.” a new sketch was springing to life as she spoke, the jacket was black and of material similar to what a person would find in a motorcycle jacket, the running stripes the same blue as all the accents on the rest of the suit. Yes, this would work quite nicely, ”I’ll be sure to bring it next time. “ she commented with a perfunctory nod.
Sam spoke about his eye again, as Kealey flipped the book shut on her lap once more and she tilted her head at him. There really was something rock solid in him, determination, she settled on a moment later. Sometimes emotions were like that, such a solid part of a person that they were hard to individually discern.
He really was pleased with her work, and Kealey beamed, slightly flushed with pride at how well this meeting was going. Then everything changed. Blond brows drew together as darker, more depressed emotions seemed to leak into Sam’s usually cheery exterior. It was a strange thing, to say the least, and those other emotions warred with the solid determination she’d felt from him before.
He started listing off the people who needed suits next, and Kealey nodded her head, she’d already met with Ghost, but hadn’t even met the person he called Streak. She scribbled the name down…Fade, Kasumi, Raina….all those were scribbled down as well. Maybe Shin would help her find a few of them before she left.
Kealey frowned at the paper, mirroring the emotions she was feeling from Sam. She looked up at him, slowly shutting her portfolio again and laying her hands on top of it before speaking slowly and carefully, ”I know it’s not any of my business…but you seem awful sad Sam. Are you sure you’re okay with everything? I won’t pry if you don’t want me to…but it’s a little impossible for me to miss. I hope I didn‘t do anything wrong.” What she said was true, the last thing Kealey wanted was to upset him, even unintentionally. She felt sad…and regretful…on the brink of losing a handle…or was that Sam? Kealey swallowed hard, ”Sorry?”

Shrugging slightly Sam wasn’t sure if he should divulge his personal affairs to others, especially Kealey who could probably feel every rampant emotion laying waste to his ego. But then again maybe because she could feel what he was going through Sam should tell her what is scratching at the surface of his happy exterior. ”No… you didn’t do anything, if anything your helping…” Sam said not mentioning her helpfulness was towards the suits which in turn meant a distraction.
”Dealing with a break up and such…” Sam said waving his hand like he didn’t really care trying to bottle up the emotions that were notifying Kealey how he was really feeling. ”Just a whole bunch of stuff at once a lot to deal with you know…” shrugging and looking down Sam started to pet the cat who was again purring on his lap for attention.
”Left an eye and an ex-girlfriend overseas in Romania, come home and everything seems to remind me of her…” shrugging again Sam ran his hand through the sleeping cat’s fur then rested it on his desk. He was miserable right now, thinking about it just made it worse than he thought it was. He dealt with break ups before but he never felt like this.
”I’ll be fine!” lied Sam as he smiled and then continued petting his cat. His current thoughts racing to get his emotions in check so he could continue on with the meeting.

She was helping? Then why did Sam feel so absolutely awful? He spoke again and Kealey nodded her head slowly. A break up could be terrible, she knew that first hand…from a couple of different experiences. Only one of which had been her own.
At least he was opening up about it a little bit. Apparently the break-up had happened in Romania, the same time as his eye. Kealey winced in sympathy, if what Shin had said about the camps they were in was true, it was a terrible experience for everyone involved. The last thing Shin was, was a liar, so it had to be true. Lots of people had come home from that place with broken relationships. ..trauma did that, though. It changed things.
Sam commented that he’d be fine and smiled through the lie, Kealey just shook her head and sighed, the misery spilling over and threatening to make her melancholy as well.
She could feel Sam struggling to control the raging emotions that threatened to burst through the surface, and she tilted her head, ”You know…just because you’re trying to hide them, doesn’t mean it’s working.” she said softly, looking at the man behind the desk.
”You already know that I can feel it all, so why not just tell yourself, and me the truth.” she added, leaning forward and placing the closed portfolio on Sam’s desk.
”Sometimes just admitting what you’re feeling is a huge step in the right direction.”

He lowered an eyebrow killing his smile, ”Yeah well, it usually works with everyone else, they don’t happen to have your ability…” he looked down at the cat on his lap and continued to pet her. He blinked with one eye turning it into a wink then looked up and stared at Kealey for a few seconds with a ‘You can’t be serious expression’. She leaned forward as if she was giving him her undivided attention. Her portfolio on his desk now Sam shifted his gaze away from her in an attempt to get her out of his mind, heart, or gut… wherever emotions were located.
”There are a lot of things you’ll come to know about me, you’ll learn a bit more or a bit less than others but I have innate ability to ignore my feelings, it is how I always dealt with everything. Even as a kid…” T.A.T. had no need to ‘Talk’ about feeling or emotions with their projects it would have taken way too much therapy, the fact that Sam didn’t turn out a nutter still amazed him.
The truth? She wanted the truth? Why the hell would he tell her the truth when he himself ignored it? Why would it serve him any good, yes he was depressed and sad but sitting around talking about it didn’t help anyone it certainly didn’t help him get down with his work. People would pity him if he went around talking about his feelings, he didn’t want pity nor needed it he was perfectly fine with how he was now so why would he tell her the truth?
”I have the emotional competency of a teacup in situations like this…” he said deciding that was enough truth for now. The meowing stopped under his hand and Cammie turned over and grabbed his hand with both paws and put her mouth on one of his fingers. It was a spur of the moment action but as soon as she removed her mouth from his fingers she started to lick it and started to purr again. He blinked, she didn’t bite him or even touch her teeth to his finger but for some reason he felt that Cammie was calling him on his line of bull.
Looking back up to Kealey he shrugged, ”She said I would be safer if I wasn’t around her… she blames herself for this…” Sam said as he pointed to his left eye his voice no longer so strong and in control. Fearing his authority figure would compromised he pointed a stern finger, ”This doesn’t leave us got it! The last thing I want is people thinking I have gone soft! I have an image to keep you know?”

Conflict added itself to the jumbled mess of emotions Sam was already feeling and Kealey sighed. She’d already called him out on everything he was feeling and it was still an issue for him to admit it. For someone like Kealey, who saw emotions as a completely open book, it was a difficult thing to understand. Sam tried to explain, Kealey tilted her head.
”Ignoring your emotions doesn’t mean that they’re gone.” Kealey said, ”Trust me, I know.” she said, almost talking to herself as much as to Sam.
His demeanor changed, and someone other than Kealey might have taken his defensiveness for aggression. Kealey just smiled, then chuckled a little, ”I don’t know who you think I’d go and tell.” she said, tilting her head, ”Your image is going to be way better served if you’re in a healthy state of mind anyway.”
Apparently lots of people had come back from Romania with the same mind-set as Sam’s girlfriend. Shin had, in fact, though Kealey wasn’t going to voice a word of that. She suppressed a small shudder at what it must have been like in those camps to so completely change peoples’ way of thinking.
”Situations like those change people…and trauma takes a long time to heal. You never know what the future will bring…not that I’m any expert…but the sentiment still stands.”
She sat for a few moments, letting her words sink in, then she grabbed her portfolio, ”I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable. It wasn’t my intention to eavesdrop…I can go talk to people about their suits if you want.”

Sam’s nose twitched slightly as he scratched it trying to regain control over his emotions again. He was off his game and Kealey was reading him like a children’s book the one with the monkey and the man in the yellow hat, that was probably the easiest book he ever read, it explained the situation well. He would lie and she would call his bluff, if this was a poker game he would have gone broke by now…
”Not really ignoring them… just distracting myself with no intentions to recollect them…” he said a bit stubbornly as he poked Cammie’s nose with his finger. She meowed and he looked up to Kealey, who didn’t seem to mind the situation at all. ”Shin, would be one, he has his own stuff to deal with, no reason he needs to know about my situation as well…” he was a leader he was stone he was there to cheer everyone else up, he was fine, time would heal his emotional wounds if he didn’t pick at them.
Picking at them was what Kealey seemed she wanted to do, he didn’t blame her or was mad at her, deep down he wanted someone like her telling him the score, telling him that sometimes it was alright to feel like this. Even if he was too stubborn to admit it he was grateful. The future… was unknown… hell he didn’t even know what he would eat for dinner.
When she snatched her portfolio and asked if she should be somewhere else Sam shook his head, he still had a question or two for her, but an idea came over him maybe he did have an idea of what the dinner menu was going to look like. ”I pride my self on not being able to be called out, you however have the annoying ability to call everyone of my bluffs…” he put on a fake pout and decided he would in turn try to throw Kealey off her game, ”You have plans for dinner tonight?” his pout turning into his sly grin.

Kealey shook her head at Sam when he pointed out that he wasn’t ignoring his emotions. He said he was simply distracting himself to a point where he didn’t have to deal with them…which probably would have served as a definition of ‘ignoring’ in most dictionaries. Arguing the point further wasn’t going to do any good. The rest of his comment was head-shake worthy too.
”You don’t know me very well if you think I’d go blabbing your business and emotions to the whole world Sam. I realized a long time ago that my abilities came with a responsibility towards confidentiality. I won’t say that I won’t use the knowledge to my advantage, or make you tell me the truth…but what I get from you stays between the two of us. You can rest assured.”
There was no heat in the words, and Kealey hadn’t been offended by what Sam said. Emotions were difficult things to have another person privy to. Sometimes they were a person’s deepest, darkest secret. Kealey knew that, probably better than she wished.
Sam was uncomfortable, though, and that was usually a signal to Kealey that it was time to go before the situation got any worse. He surprised her, though. Not with the first comment, that simply elicited a shrug, the second stopped the blond in her steps as she made her way to the door. She turned.
”For dinner? she said, tilting her head and tasting the emotional climate of the room again. Nothing seemed odd in Sam, there were no untoward emotions or anything like that. Was he asking her on a date? Was this simply dinner between friends? She didn’t have plans, and Kealey wasn’t a fan of even little white lies, ”I don’t have plans…did you have something in mind?” She asked, cheeks coloring a bit at the prospect.
”Also Sam, I’m not trying to ‘call you out’” she said, emphasizing the strange American slang phrase and filing it away. ”It’s just that the stuff you’re holding in is going to be destructive after a while. I may not be able to do much to help…but I can tell you that much.”

”I did have something in mind, I was thinking dinner at one of my restaurants.” Sam said with out much thought into it, he was originally going to go there by himself to possibly run the tables and get a burger but he figured Kealey would be better company than non at all, that was unless she started to pry into his head or heart, or where ever emotions were located.
”Been holding that kind of stuff down for fifteen years…” Sam said looking down to his cat a little louder than he intended. That cat batted at his hand as Sam looked up, ”Good, it’s a date then! You want to meet here or would you like me to pick you up around eight?” Sam asked not even thinking meeting there was a possibility.
Looking at the suits again Sam smiled, ”Alright I’ll give you a list of contact numbers for current members, starting with Streak.” Sam jotted down his number from memory along with a few other team member’s numbers. Sam could always give her the rest at a later date.
Looking down at the stacked files Sam sighed and picked up Cammie and set her on the desk and stood which alerted Bruno, ”Well I think that concludes our meeting for now as you can see I have way too much work to do. If you have any questions later fell free to ask at dinner!” he said with a smile.

Dinner in a restaurant? With Sam? Kealey’s head remained tilted to the side as she considered the offer. His emotions were still a myriad mixture of depression and frustration with the way their discussion had turned out, but there was also eagerness and excitement there too. Those were new, and in relation to the prospect of dinner…with her?
Kelaey was still considering all of that, when Sam reiterated the fact that he’d been keeping his emotions well in check for over a decade and a half. Kealey almost gave him a deadpan look. She’d already explained that simply because a person was good at hiding their emotions, didn’t mean she couldn’t feel them….she didn’t have a chance to mince words, though, because Sam declared that they had a date and started working on logistics.
At this point the eager excitement was obvious and contagious, and Kealey found herself nodding. If you didn’t mind, I’d rather not have to get out here again.”
Just like that, the details were worked out and Kealey found herself leaving Sam’s office with a contact list in one hand, her portfolio in the other, and her head full of confusion about what had just transpired. She shook it off and made for the front of the school…trying to find Shin to say goodbye, but not succeeding and making her way out of the mansion and towards her apartment to get ready for dinner.
(OOC - Hope you don't mind a little time skip. If so PM me and I'll Edit)
***A Few Hours Later***
She’d accomplished a lot in the few hours since leaving Sam’s office, and now Kealey stood in front of her closet trying to figure out what was appropriate for the dinner she was going to with the leader of the X-Men. Surely this wasn’t a date date…or maybe it was? Kealey didn’t know how she felt about either possibility. His emotional repression aside, Sam was a nice enough guy…Kealey shrugged her shoulders and grinned a little. This was going to be fun.
Out of the closet came a simple tank top and wrap-around cardigan that came nearly to Kealey’s knees, the sweater was a warm grey color and the black tank top beneath it matched the black skinny jeans that the blond had donned a few minutes earlier. Black knee-boots that turned down at the tops were pulled onto her feet and Kealey was ready. She grabbed her purse, locked her apartment door, and headed down the stairs to wait in front of the clinic for Sam, idly wondering where they were going to go.

He wore the same clothes he had on earlier, jeans and a t-shirt the only difference now was the jacket he was wearing that remained unzipped and billowed in the wind as he rode along a side street to the Iris clinic where Kealey was currently living. He didn’t really need the jacket but it was always good to have one, more often than not whenever he had his bike the girl he was with got a little chilly and seeing as he had his own AC he never bother much about over heating.
One eyed driving was a little more difficult at first but after some practice he had it down, all he needed to do was be more aware of his surroundings, keep a little more attention on the road then on anything else. Pulling up to the clinic on his bike put it in park in front of the store and put the bike in park. Turning off then engine and taking off his helmet he turned to see that she was there by the entrance, ”Waiting long?” Sam asked as he put the helmet on the bike.
”You look nice.” Sam said trying to see if he could continue to keep her off her game so she couldn’t focus on his string of emotions that were swelling around the depths of his mind. Turning his head and lifting the second helmet that was latched on the bike Sam asked, ”You’ve ridden before right?” Sam asked curiously as he lifted the helmet in her direction.
”Your in for a treat tonight, we’ll be going to one of my regulars tonight,” it was the bikers/sport bar he frequented since he saved the place from a grease fire, the owner was nice enough and offered him burgers for life however he often made up for the food in fat tips.
”Ready to go?” Sam asked as he pulled the helmet back over his head, and hoping onto the bike waiting for Kealey to take her place behind him.

Kealey shook her head when Sam asked if she’d been waiting long, ”Not long at all, besides, it’s a lovely night.” Needless to say, the blond was a little surprised Sam had rolled up on a motorcycle. Apparently it was a good thing she’d decided against the dress and went with the more practical pants. She flushed when Sam complimented her, apparently she’d done well with it. ”Thank you.” she said, trying valiantly not to analyze the emotions behind that statement. If time in New York had taught Kealey anything, it was not to judge a man by his emotions when he gave a compliment.
The X-leader held out a spare helmet and Kealey took it, grimacing slightly at what it was going to do to her hair. ”I have, and with someone quite a bit larger than you. So I think I’ll have an easier time of it this go.” The helmet was pulled on over blond ringlets with a final internal wince for fashion’s sake. It didn’t matter, though, the curls would bounce back. The chin strap snapped as she put it in place and Kealey approached the bike with mild trepidation as Sam told her that she was in for a treat with dinner.
That could have meant lots of things, but Kealey was more concerned about the riding situation on the bike. Riding behind Mars with all the clinging and holding had been a necessity. This seemed like a lot of contact for dinner. It was Sam though, and he’d never been anything other than a gentleman, so when he climbed on the bike, Kealey approached and climbed on behind him.
”Ready, I just hope you’re ready to see how much I can eat.” she said, a slight smile curing her features as she held on, ready to move.

”Hold on!” Sam said with a wicked grin, all in hopes that Kealey would continue to focus on the situation other than his emotions. Thought at the moment there was a few emotions swimming about in his person overwhelming others. Excitement for example, coursed through his veins when he turned the bike on and put it in gear. Revving the engine once he cut it and took off.
His hands tingling with the wind brushing past as he sped along the street turning this way and that on his way to dinner, she said she brought her appetite which was good because Mike’s bar always had the deals with the quarter, half and even the pound burger. After ten minutes he turned onto the side street leading to Mike’s and pulled in next a few Harley bikes that lined up nicely and gleamed in the fading sun that was ready to set.
Hopping off his bike he offered a hand to Kealey to help her off his bike and then removed his helmet locking it on his bike. After doing the same to Kealey’s he waited till she was ready to go before he started to head to the bar, it was a little run down on the outside but on the inside… that was where it had all it’s character. Opening the door for Kealey, he looked around once inside and then smiled when he spotted the owner Mike.
Mike was the type of guy that stood out in a crowd, for obvious reasons. Even if he was back in the kitchen Sam would know where he was for two reasons, one he was a giant, standing at 6’8 and weighing in around three hundred pounds he was on the heavy side but his shirt always budged around his arms that rippled with muscles, which he often used to hug the ice-mancer when ever he entered. See Sam saved the restaurant and Mike from a grease fire a year or so back and ever since then Sam has frequented the bar, not only cause he enjoyed the company but because they had the best burgers and fries in the city as far as he was concerned.
Before Sam could warn Kealey about Mike and his enthusiasm. Sam was spotted before Mike was and the entire restaurant would be aware of it as well, ”Sammy!” came the familiar voice with the more familiar greeting of the massive man walking out from behind the bar taking his apron off and setting it out on the nearest bar stool as he lumbered his way to both Sam and Kealey. ”Mike! How are ya big guy?” Sam asked in response with his familiar greeting.
Quickly shooting Kealey an apologetic look his eye locked on her for a second then he smirked then whispered, ”Head’s up!” When Mike was upon them Sam offered his hand up for a shake but Mike grabbed it then pulled Sam into a hug and lifted him off the ground in a bear hug. ”You saved my life when are you gonna accept the fact that I don’t take hand shakes from you?” Sam smirked as he was set down, ”Never probably, Mike this is Kealey, my date for the evening,” Sam turned his eye from Mike to Kealey, ”Kealey this is Mike, owner of Mike’s Bar and one of my favorite Damsels in distress.”
His eye turned back to Mike who was let out a loud and burley laugh, ”Just remember this damsel has about a hundred and forty on you.” Sam grinned, ”How could I forget I pulled you out of the building,” another burley laugh accompanying his massive hands and patted Sam on the back forcing him to lean forward. ”Nice to meet you Kealey!” Mike said as he offered out his massive hand for a shake.
A second later Sam started to smile more when he spotted a small mousey woman who was about a foot shorter than Mike, “Mike, leave Sam and his friend alone they are here to eat!” Sam watched as Mike snapped to and turned to his wife and let out a smile, ”The wife beckons, Sam take your usual seat and I’ll send Jessica over to take your order, as usual it’s free, let me know if you need anything!”
Looking over to Mike’s wife Sam gave her a wave and then pointed Kealey over to his usual spot, which as of now was a large booth in an empty section. ”Sorry about that,” Sam said as he walked over to the booth and sat down and scooted in, ”This place is famous for their burgers and fries, not the healthiest but life is short!” Sam said as he handed her a menu.

The motorcycle ride was fun, at least as exhilarating as Kealey remembered from the one and only other time she’d ridden on one. She’d been in a hurry that time, though, and adrenaline had been high, Mars had wanted to get to his friend and Kealey had wanted to get to Jacen. She lost herself for a few moments in the memories of that night, then shook her head, still holding on tight to Sam as they wove their way through the New York City traffic. He was excited, almost extremely so ,and the strong emotion mixed with Kealey’s close proximity had her nearly bounding by the time they made it to the place they were going to eat. As they stopped and Kealey got her first glimpse of the restaurant, her stomach dropped a little.
This was not the type of place Kealey was used to going. There were motorcycles lined up all long the front and it looked like it was a bit rougher around the edges than the places the blond usually frequented. Not wanting to seem like a snob, and wondering if there were as many emotion filled people inside as there were bikes outside, Kealey followed Sam.
The emotion inside the bar was a frenzy of activity and it set Kealey’s head to spinning almost immediately. She took a careful hold of herself and pushed the emotions as far into the back of her mind as she possibly could. There was extreme potential for embarrassment here if she was not careful. Then they were approached by the largest man Kealey had ever seen…well aside from a certain bastard giant who had kidnapped her from the grocery store.
This man appeared to be one of Sam’s friends, and Kealey barely caught the whispered warning before the man was on top of them, crushing Sam in a giant hug. Kealey was mildly terrified she’d receive the same treatment upon being announced as his date, but was spared when the man offered a large hand for her to shake, which she did. ”Lovely to meet you too.” forcing a smile in the midst of the large man’s large emotions. Everything was just so…large. Kealey swallowed, praying that she wouldn’t embarrass herself.
Sam finished with his greeting and Kealey tilted her head when the bear of a man mentioned that Sam had saved his life. It was an impressive story and the blond stored it away to ask about later. As Mike went to his wife’s summons, Sam led Kealey to an empty table in a far emptier section of the restaurant and the empath sighed with relief. They weren’t far enough away for the emotions to be masked, but at least out of arm’s reach, Kealey could concentrate a little, which she did as Sam explained that the food wasn’t necessarily healthy.
”It’s a good thing I love unhealthy food, then.” she said, eschewing the menu and planning to simply order the regular cheeseburger.
”And I definitely have a thing for cheeseburgers.” she added thoughtfully, a slight smile spreading across her face at the prospect of eating one of the foods she knew she truly enjoyed.
They were seated now, and Kealey looked across the table at Sam, ”Mike said you saved his life. Mind sharing the tale?” she asked, doing her best to ignore the bundle of emotions knotted in the back of her head for the time being.

He lost count how many times he had one of Mike’s burgers, to many to count and never tiring of the burger, it always seemed to activate every taste bud in his mouth. He was glad she approved of the meal choice he suggested. It meant that her stocks went up in his book, after all burgers were one of the best foods on the planet.
When she asked him about the incident Sam nodded his head, ”I’m still not entirely sure how it happened because I had never known Mike to make a mistake with his food but signs showed that someone was stealing food in the back.” Sam nodded his head back to the bar and past the bar was the kitchen where the incident took place. ”When the police and I questioned Mike what happened he said someone popped up out of know where and was stealing scraps but before he could offer more of anything the person threw something at him.” shrugging as his eye locked with the bulky figure of Mike, Sam couldn’t help but smile.
”The food missed Mike but ended up hitting a pan of grease, one thing lead to another and the kitchen erupted in flames.” Sam lifted his hands up to imitate the flames. ”The placed was closed so the only one in immediate danger was Mike, I’m just glad I was riding by when I saw the flames.” Sam started to grin, ”I put out the fire saved the building and then had to drag the giant out.” Sam started to laugh, ”Would have been impossible if I didn’t use my mutation, imagine a bear getting pushed by three small kids.” Sam started to laugh again, ”The cops and the NYFD showed up and had a good laugh about it when we found out he would be fine.”
Remembering the amount of pressure he had to endure to push Mike out of the building with the help of his golems. Even if he could construct a small army of golems, Mike was as solid as they came. Looking back to Kealey and grinning Sam continued, ”As you can see he is pretty grateful, no matter how many times I tell him I want to pay for his food he booms out in his loud voice,” a voice Sam quickly adopted, ”Your money is no good here!”
”Figure out what you want?” Sam asked as he spotted the waitress Jessica head over to the table wide smile as usual when she had to serve Sam, it might have had something to do with the large tips he always left her… might have.

Kealey nodded her head as Sam explained the situation that had lead him into being friends with Mike. The blond smiled at the story, it was sad that Mike’s restaurant had burned down, but it really did seem like Sam felt genuine affection for the man. Kealey didn’t mention it, though, she’d gotten a pretty good emotional picture of Sam earlier in the day and she didn’t figure he’d welcome the comment.
Kealey was mildly fascinated as Sam explained how he’d used his powers to help the man from the burning building. She shook her head, ”All using my powers to help someone earned me was an appointment with the floor of a subway station and a handful of stitches.” she commented with a shake that set her blond curls bouncing around her shoulders.
”Whenever I decide to use them, the situation just seems to get worse.” Except with Shin, Kealey decided. He’d actually thanked her for what she’d done. For the most part though…useless, except to bother her. ”I was lucky Garrett came along and took me to the sanctuary. Otherwise, I’d have been in some serious trouble”
A waitress approached, and Kealey nodded her head at Sam when he asked if she knew what she wanted to order. The girl was pretty, and young, and Kealey smiled at her. The feelings coming off the girl were slightly more forward than what the blond was used to encountering in women, though, and when she realized the feelings were directed at Sam, her cheeks colored.
”I’ll have a cheeseburger, well-done, with everything except onions and an order of fries.” the blond said succinctly, looking at Sam in hopes he would order quickly. Apparently he was a regular here. Kealey suppressed the urge to humph, then realized what she was doing and took a large drink from the glass the woman had set down before starting to moon over Sam. Hopefully, this would be over soon.
