The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

((Hmm.. You mentioned him as the silver man in the prior post so I figured... no matter, it's nothing I cannot edit out.))
He looked down to his hand, which hung out in the air uselessly, and dropped it slowly, frowning just a bit as he listened to the man talk... Wait a second... He had been watching since he got in? Did that mean he had been watching his struggles on the security system, and done nothing about it? He supposed the system must be new, or he might have been warned by someone before hand, which meant...My god, had he been used as a Guinea-pig on his first day here?! Saph sighed and leaned back in his chair. Nothing like christening a brand spanking new security system to start off your night. He found that his appetite hadn't returned to him... Though it was just as well, he had eaten enough to fill himself, and his plate wasn't by any means full.
He was taken from his thoughts when Streak addressed him again, and he responded with a dry tone to his voice... "Somethin like that." He supposed he couldn't blame the guy for the security thing... He was a stranger, after all... Though he figured he could at least be grumpy until his muscles weren't so damned sore. "So, you the guy with the forms and stuff I gotta fill out?"
Lily wrinkled her nose again. She did it a lot when she didn't want to frown. Was it just her, or the air was really getting colder in the room? The guys were looking at each other over the table with a look that could have been anything but friendly. Apparently Streak's meeting with Saphirus wasn't going to be quite as cheerful as hers. She rolled her eyes silently. Guys. Being a well educated young lady, she decided to do what proved to be the best solution in these situations - she let the men talk. Picking up the empty plates she walked over to the counter, leaving the blanket on the back of her chair, and started putting everything back to its place before she got to start washing the dishes. She glanced at Saphirus and Streak once in a while, and listened to them, ready to add her thoughts to the conversation if needed. Even though she was less cheerful now, a smile was still playing on her lips. When it came to fresh starts, she was a true believer. And the pancakes were not half bad either.

Maybe admitting about the security measures wasn't the best thing he could have done when he was meeting this guy. Maybe Streak hoped that his explanation would have made Saphirus understand more of why he'd done what he'd done. Streak then answered his question. "I'm actually only one of the guys that handle the paperwork. There's usually like 3 or 4 of us who do most of the paperwork for the students." Streak told him. "I don't have any of the paperwork with me right now. It's all in my office down the hallway. We can stop by there later on."
Streak was in no hurry to get this moving. Probably because he wanted to make sure that they got back on the right foot. As Jewel started cleaning up he tried to keep their conversation going. Personally Streak thought it was a strained conversation but he was going to keep trying to make it more natural this time. "Fresh starts on life are always good. There's plenty of people here who are looking for a second chance and have found it here. We try to make sure that every mutant that lives here learns something about their powers and that they can control them and participate in the real world. But your from here so I would think that you already know what the purpose mansion serves." Streak said. He then realized that he might have been getting a bit preachy so he cut his sermon short.
He noticed that Jewel was opting out of the significantly higher tension that this particular part of the room was experiencing at the moment; he didn't blame her... As he kept eye contact with Streak, and listened to his words, he tried to come up with justifications for the man in his head... Maybe he hadn't shaken his hand because he simply hadn't seen it offered... Perhaps the security systems took a bit to turn off, and therefor he couldn't have prevented the hearty jolt that Saph had to suffer through... All in all, he wanted to give everyone here the same chance they were giving him. He wasn't about to lose this opportunity on the account of someone having an off start with him, even if it hadn't been his own fault at all.
He sat up straight as the man finished speaking. "Well, y'see... I'm prolly a little bit different than most people that show up here... First off, I think I've got my powers down pretty well in the sense that I ain't gonna have any dangerous accidents or nuthin... I figure you guys have that happen a lot... It's more like I'm lookin for a different kinda support... I... eh... Well, I don't really got a place to live right now... so I guess I came here to see if i could earn a living for myself in this place... I can do whatever, I ain't picky... I figure that if i can help out around here, you guys wont mind me stayin, and maybe... Pickin up a little bit of an education as well... eh.. If that's an option." He figured he was done talking for the moment, so he watched the man to gage his response... They probably didn't expect him to ask for a job, and for all he knew they didn't have any openings... but it was worth a try... Hell, he'd be happy if they had him on as a janitor at this point.
It was still not your cheerful early morning chit-chat, but at least now both of the guys were trying. Jewel smiled as she leaned against the counter, folding her arms and looking from one to the other. Shawn basically repeated what she'd said earlier to Saphirus, and she was glad he did too, it sounded more official from someone in charge rather than from a random student. Besides, she suspected Saphrius would need to hear the whole speech a couple of times before he actually starts believing he had a chance. She raised an eyebrow when he asked about a job. She was not entirely sure what kind of jobs the Mansion had to offer, but she was sure they could figure something out for Saphirus. A phone call came to her mind about the same topic - not so long ago she discussed getting a job with her parents. Of course they were against is. 'Your job now honey is to study, and learn about... you know.' She smirked. Yeah. About her abilities. If only they knew she already learned more than she signed up for... Looking at Shawn, she raised an eyebrow. Her motherly instincts were kicking in again. She was not entirely comfortable with it. Saphirus was definitely older than her... Whatever, he still needed help. Turning back to the counter, she put on some more coffee.

“We actually don’t have as many accidents as you might think which is probably because we spend a lot of time working on their powers with them.” Streak said hoping that if they had a lot of accidents here that he would want to leave right away. There was a simple fact that he hadn’t shaken the man’s hand was because he didn’t see it. Streak didn’t realize this, though, and it made the conversation a little tense. He was going to do his best to make this conversation easier. The man then basically just asked for a job from Streak. There were plenty of jobs that needed to be filled still, and since the man wasn’t especially picky he would be great for any job. “Off the top of my head, I can’t think of any jobs, but I’m sure that we can find a suitable one for you. We don’t get many people asking for a job but it does happen every once in a while. Though I’m sure you’ll be happy to know that we can find a room for you to stay in while we find a job for ya.” Lily didn’t seem to want to take part in the conversation since he’d walked in. he wondered if she was mad at him for something he’d done or didn’t do. He’d have to remember to ask her before they all went about their separate ways for what was left of the night.

He tilted his head a little bit, resisting the urge to blurt out 'just like that?'... They were seriously just going to give him a place to stay, no questions asked, no strings attached... So he would no longer second guess them; if you spent too much time stewing on whether something was too good to be true, you might just make it false. He smiled a bit, now, crossing his arms in front of his chest as he relaxed in the chair again. "Alright... Sounds good... So, eh... Anything I should know before we get all of this started? Ground rules, who's in charge, who not to piss off... stuff like that?" He peered at the man with an inquisitive look on his face... Every place he had ever stayed, which mostly consisted of a covey in a dark alley, had rules; and not like, 'Don't walk on the grass,' but more along the lines of, 'Don't touch Mikey's milk, he saws your arm off for that.' The secret to making it in those places was to find them out as soon as possible, and follow them until people liked you enough not to watch you so close that accidentally breaking a few wont land you in the hospital... Least that's how it was on the streets. He glanced up at the clock... Jees, it was getting close to six already... He had been up all night, but he had the feeling like we wasn't going to be able to sleep at all... He was always like this when he found a new place; mainly due to his tendency to wait until some ungodly time at night to make himself known... He tilted his head up just a little bit in silent thought, wondering why he always did that... Weird.
The guys were finally getting along. Lily smiled as she listened to the conversation. One of the main things she believed in was that there wouldn't be so many conflicts in the world if people communicated better with each other. Talking seemed to work out just fine this time too. To make things more cheerful, fresh coffee was ready. She filled in three mugs and set two of them on the table for Shawn and Saphirus, together with cream, sugar and all the things they could possibly wish for a cup of coffee. "Well, since it's officially morning now, I thing we'll all need this." she smiled at them as she took her place by the table once again. At Saphirus' question about rules, she chuckled and glanced at Shawn. "Well, best is if you don't piss anyone off at all... you'll learn the rest real soon." Leaving 'the rest' to Shawn, she buried her nose in the coffee mug. Any morning could have been a lot worse than welcoming a newcomer to the Mansion. In spite of the lack of sleep, she was feeling cheerful.

Streak smiled at the new guy. The rules. What were the main ones here? he wondered. There wasn't like he just made them up but he hardly had to say them to people that he often forgot what they were. Some of the main ones remained in his mind though. So those were the ones he decided to say. "Thanks Lily." Streak said when she brought them some coffee. He took a sip. It was really good coffee too. First the pancakes were good and now the coffee was just the perfect way to finish it off. "Well, Jewel's right. Not getting in fights with anyone would be a good idea. That's why we've got the Danger Room. So you can fight robots and simulations and not each other. Also..." Streak thought for a second then continued.
"Don't steal from people, you may not like what they do to get it back. That's pretty much all of the major ones. There's always food here so it's not like someone will get upset with you eating food. Pretty much everything is provided for you here and I can set you up with someone else about the job later." There wasn't much else that he could remember about the rules. They were all pretty basic rules and he was fairly certain that he'd covered all the major ones. He took a few more sips of his coffee and as he thought. "Myself and another guy named Sam are pretty much the ones in charge here right now. I would definitely advise you not to especially piss off Emerald. She takes a while to get used to people and even when she's used to you she's still a bit short with people. But that's how it goes with some people." The chances of him getting on someone's bad side would be slim since most people gave new comers a clean slate and, as far as he knew, didn't judge them solely on first appearance.

He looked to Jewel as she added her two cents, nodding and giving thanks for the coffee, which he loaded with sugar, and sipped lightly; he figured that while he normally wasn't the type to drink so many cups a day, this situation granted the need for such measures... What she said was pretty much a given in every one place... Then again, he once knew a guy that he swore secretly liked being pissed off by other people... But that was a story for another time, as his attention was shifted back to Streak, who said something about robots and simulations. "Danger wha? Wassat?" he tilted his head back to its regular position, as he realized he had still been in contemplative head-tilt mode, and raised an eyebrow. He had never heard of a danger room before... maybe it was some sorta lounge, with games or something... like... video games? apparently with robots in them? He shrugged to himself and waited for Streak to continue... The theft thing was also obvious, as he was trying to change that facet of his life anyways. Everything else, though, was helpful enough... He made a mental note to avoid 'Emerald', and tread lightly when that wasn't possible. "I hear that." People on the streets were almost all very hard to get to know... He knew most people as 'Hey you' or 'that one guy/girl'... Then again, that's pretty much how most of them knew him as well... "So... this place looks pretty big... What all do ya got here in the way of... I dunno, Entertainment?"
Emerald. She hadn't heard that name before, but it instantly piked her curiosity. Of course, it had a lot to do with that person being named after a gemstone, but still... Lily realized she barely knew a few people in the Mansion, even though she'd been living there for months. Resting her chin in her palm, she smirked. "Trust me, you'll soon know more about the Danger Room than you ever wanted to find out." she grinned at Saphirus, winking at Shawn. It sounded like a girl talking about the boys' game, but secretly, Lily enjoyed Danger Room sessions. Even though she got more bruises during them than she did in her whole life before. "So... this place looks pretty big... What all do ya got here in the way of... I dunno, Entertainment?" At that, she just had to chime in again. "What, the traps were not enough?" she quirked an eyebrow. She couldn't really answer the question - she never thought about it before. Now that she did, she had to realize that life itself was the entertainment in the Mansion. Sure, sometimes it was annoying and sometimes it was just plain scary, but it was never, ever boring. But, she thought, Saphirus will just have to find that out for himself.

Jewel was seeeming more amiable and vocal once she got her second cup of coffee and they started talking about this that and the other thing. "Entertainment? Well there's the Danger Room that can be very entertaining, if you know what you're doing. There's also the living room with the games in there and we have a pool out side. Though I doubt you'd want to go for a swim this time of year. Really, people don't need a lot of different forms of entertainment because life here is kind of hectic and with kids running around trying to figure out their powers." Streak told him.
There was total truth to when he spoke. There were very few times when he was bored enough for him to actually have time to train. "We also have books if ya like reading." Streak said to Saphirus. "Most people that live here are entertainment enough. You just have to meet a few of them and you should find plenty of entertaining things to do while you look for a job." Streak kept bringing that back to him because he didn't want Saphirius to forget the whole reason he came here was for a job. "Whatever job you get it might be a lot but I'm confident you'll be able to find time to continue to meet more people."
The comment on the deathtraps nearly made him shoot coffee from his nose... That aside, if the danger room was anything like those traps were, he might begin thinking he was safer on the streets... hmmm what did these people do for fun, then? He wondered what exactly this danger room was like... not a playroom, as he first thought... Jewel seemed to treat it like it was something for the 'guys'. Maybe it was just what the name hinted... A dangerous room. The images that created both made him want to see it, and also run from it... Ahh, but curiosity was a powerful thing; if humans were cats they'd all be dead... So, naturally, this danger room would have to be one of the first things he checked out. Thought time was over, though... and the coffee in his hands hinted it wasn't nap time, either... which meant it was still talk time. He looked to Streak as he began talking again, and nodded... He was never much of a reader, but considering he was trying to better himself, which meant getting smarter, and smart people seemed to have a tendency to read a lot... perhaps if he read a lot, he would also become a smart person! While the whole thought process was a commonly cited fallacy(if all a=b, it doesn't mean that all b=a), Saph figured it was worth a shot...
He piped up after Streak was done talking, "Yeah... I might check out this danger room thing later... eh... If that's alright... Oh, and... I figure you guy's got a library in this place somewhere, right? I'll prolly find it on my own..." He set his coffee down on the table, and looked to his greeters, feeling awkward for a second. "So, eh... what do you guy's recommend someone does to meet new people, here... I mean... you guy's got sports? Recreational things you do together? How many students go here, anyways? Aww crap, I'm asking too many questions... My bad." He wasn't usually the type to go off on a tangent.. Maybe it was the fact that this place was so... Alien compared to everywhere else... They were so accepting, so willing to open up the doors and help one of their own kind, no questions asked... He felt like freaking harry potter, or something... Were they gonna put a hat on his head that would tell him where he belonged? Hid harry potter exist in this universe?! Should such references be avoided?! Would J.K. Rowling sue?! Stan Lee hadn't yet! That was a good sign, right?! Saph didn't know the answer to any of these questions, but the feeling that this all gave him... Well.. It was nice to know that people, and not just one person, could be good all at one time... Even if it was a bit dizzying to think about.
"So, eh... what do you guy's recommend someone does to meet new people, here... I mean... you guy's got sports? Recreational things you do together? How many students go here, anyways? Aww crap, I'm asking too many questions... My bad." Lily laughed out at that. "Eager aren't you." she grinned "You'll figure it out for yourself, don't worry." glancing as Shawn, she added "However weird this place looks to you now, it's still a school. Classes, trainings, gatherings, the whole deal. Trust me, if there is something one doesn't need to worry about here, it's meeting people. In a few weeks you'll be wishing for a hiding place to be alone." Chuckling, she sipped her coffee. "You're gonna enjoy it. Most of us do."

“Most people will find a way to meet you and with everything going on around here, during the day, you’ll be surprised how many people you’ll meet within just a short amount of time.” Streak agreed with Lily. He’d met tons of people his first week here and it took him longer to remember their names and associate the names with faces. “The good thing about being new here is that you don’t always have to tell people the entire truth. You can always omit certain parts that you wouldn’t normally tell someone on a first impression meeting basis. Everyone here has got a past of one caliber or another and many keep it to themselves until they feel comfortable with people to share everything.” Streak didn’t know what many of his team mates pasts were but he never pressed them for the information and that’s what made them his team mates he didn’t have to worry if they were going to revert back to their old ways or not. He hoped they didn’t but one could never tell.
However weird this place looks to you now, it's still a school. Classes, trainings, gatherings, the whole deal. Trust me, if there is something one doesn't need to worry about here, it's meeting people. In a few weeks you'll be wishing for a hiding place to be alone."
“That’s right. There are enough gatherings that you’re bound to meet people.” Streak agreed with Lily. People seemed to come and go by the droves at the mansion and it was so hard to keep track of everyone that was living there. Streak probably knew a little over half of the people that were living here at the mansion; however, keeping up with them and with what they are doing was usually a real chore that sometimes required his full attention.
