The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

In a moment of grand inspiration Juka decided that he simply must visit his dear friend Jewel and force her to leave her dreary little mansion and come on an adventure. Well, it wasn't really that bad of a place, that Mansion of hers, and he supposed it wasn't even really all that dreary, but the fact remained that she needed to get out more and he was just the one to force her to it! He simply refused to take no for an answer. And besides, his apartment was starting to feel just a little bit lonely and the only solution to that, obviously, was kitties!
So, after extensive work on his outfit, opting for a theme of red and pink today with a few black highlights, he had come to the mansion (sadly being forced to catch one of the horrible ugly taxi cabs, he simply had to get a vehicle of his own) in search of his old friend. After being let into the mansion by Tetsuya (he was sure not to do anything too inappropriate) he made his way over to Jewel's room.
After knocking on her door and waiting for it to be opened, Juka stood there firmly, with his hands on his hips, looking disapprovingly at his friend. "Jewel, dear, now you know I love you but you have got a problem my sweet," he tried to explain as rationally and calmly as he could. "Now, my dear, your problem is that you simply do not leave this place nearly often enough." He didn't give her any opportunity to protest, shushing her with a disapproving look and continued speech if she so much as tried. "I know, I know you're not allowed to leave without a proper escort but who am I if not your oldest and dearest friend? Don't I make a perfect escort?" He didn't wait for an answer, insistently pushing on in his little speech. "And you, my dear, can help me just as much as I can help you. You see, I need companionship. There is no one in my apartment to bask in my glorious self and that simply will never do." He shook his head, saddened by the very concept. "And so, my oldest closest friend, the only solution is that we help each other. You must help me find a pair of gorgeous little furry kittens and I, of course, in return must help you escape from this stifling building for a few short hours. We couldn't possibly get into any real trouble in that time now could we?" He looked at her expectantly, eyes pleading.
A knock on the door always meant something was about to happen. Being fairly new at the Mansion, Jewel could never really know who she was going to find on other side; on some days, she enjoyed the mystery, on others, the very concept just made her uneasy. Although the whole unexpetedness-thing was supposed to wear off after a few encounters, Juka still managed to surprise her. Jewel blinked at him; the guy was unbelievable. Not the style (that, in this particular case, was just... too close to Hello Kitty), but the fact that he was standing there making his whole little speech, while she was rubbing her eyes and straightening the babydoll she wore for sleepwear. He didn't seem to realize she had been fast asleep just seconds ago. When she finally got to open her mouth, she yawned. With her hand in front of her mouth, of course. Then she blinked at Juka again. "Good morning, Juka. Do come in." she opened the door to let him into her room. She still didn't have a roommate. Fortunately for moments like this. "I'm not sure they would let me leave with you, you know." she pointed out as she sat back on her bed, rubbing her eyes and running her fingers through her hair.
Juka shook his finger at Jewel disapprovingly. "Now, hun, didn't I just tell you that I wouldn't take no for an answer? I meant exactly what I said." He began searching through Jewel's closet searching for clothes for her to wear, seeing that the wasn't nearly prepared to actually leave the mansion. He know she could never be as shining as he (I mean really, who possibly could?) but she would be stunning nevertheless. He couldn't possibly allow her to be anything less than magnificent, what kind of friend would he be if he did?
Any attempts to stop him in his mad search for clothes was stopped with a glare in Jewel's direction. Finally satisfied, he produced something classic and elegant, nothing that would show too much skin but would also show off her figure nicely. "There, my dear, I believe this will be perfect." Juka smiled dazzlingly at his friend. "Now go put this on and choose the perfect jewelry to go with it, I would never presume to step on any toes that is plainly your specialty, and I will wait here patiently for you to finish." He sat down on the bed.
For the first time in her life Jewel was really, honesty, truly grateful she didn't keep in her closet anything she wouldn't wear. Or that she wasn't sharing the room with someone else. It reduced the gravity of the situation. Juka was never one to notice personal space (strange from a guy who travels in a bubble, she mused), but somehow in the early morning his whole attitude just seemed... harder to deal with. Which meant that it was time for Jewel to touch upon the spoiled brat she herself was deep inside. If Juka wants 'dashing', 'dashing' he'll get. She took the dress Juka chose for her with a charming smile (she did like it, after all), and tilted her head "You know what? You are right." Oh how he liked to hear that. It got better, though. As Juka sat down, Jewel covered his eyes with her hand for a moment. "You just sit there and don't look, sugah, you might get blinded by the goddess in flesh. There's a good boy." Without any further fuss, she started dressing. Once she was finished with all the basics, she went on to choosing the jewelry and combing her hair. "Here are my terms." she told him while shaping her bracelets to her liking "I get breakfast, we don't get into trouble - that includes not showing off your powers, mind you - and we get back by lunch. And I don't want cat hair on my clothes." Once she was finished, she put on her shoes and walked over to Juka. "You can look now, little J." Somewhere in the back of her mind Lily wondered how Juka managed to bring out this side of her personality...
Juka covered his eyes like the good (well, perfect was more like it) friend he was and then uncovered them when he was beckoned to do so. "You look positively stunning," he gushed at Jewel, grinning from ear to ear. Now here was someone he could walk around town with and not fear to overshadow. She was every bit (well ok, maybe not every bit but as close as one could possibly come) as fabulously amazing as he was.
"Now, as to your terms," Juka stated, going into negotiation mode. "I will be glad to buy you breakfast and even lunch. Not getting into trouble goes without saying. My kittens will be lovely angels and will not dare to get hair on your clothes or mine. Now, as for this no powers rule, I get to float you over to times square. We land somewhere without to many people and no powers after that. Deal?" He extended his hand, expecting a handshake. He was being perfectly fair and he knew she would get a thrill out of floating around far above the city. He simply wouldn't allow her to refuse.
"Deal." Jewel shook his hand all official-like, then grabbed her purse, chuckling "Ready, steady, let's go... and I still can't believe you are making me do stuff like this." she added on second thought "What happened to me ordering you around like when we were kids, huh?"
Juka laughed at Jewel's words. "I think I grew up," he informed her, giggling. "Now come on my dear," Juka beckoned, walking over to open up the window. He waited for Jewel to come close to him and then wrapped his arms around her gently and proceeded to bubble the two of them a moment later, causing them to both bob off the ground a foot.
In another moment Juka mentally commanded the bubble to rise higher until they were many dozens of feet above the Mansion roof. They began moving slowly at first and then quickly picked up speed. He didn't do any of his usual acrobatics, knowing that the first time he had flown in his bubble it had been rather disorienting and not wanting to accidentally make his friend sick or anything like that. He did, however, go high enough and fast enough to give her a glorious view of the city far below.
Finally they approached Times Square and he mentally commanded his bubble to lower, choosing a spot in a little darkened alley where they weren't likely to be noticed. With an impish giggle he made his bubble disappear and looked at Jewel expectantly, a huge grin on his face.
"Wow." was all Jewel could say; partly because she was feeling a bit dizzy from a flight on an empty stomach, and partly because the whole experience was a weird mix of awesome and romantic bordering on cheesy. She chuckled as she let go of Juka. "I'd say all kinds of nice things but I think you've heard more than enough of those already so just consider them said. I don't wanna spoil you more." she gave him a peck on the cheek, and looked around "So what are we having for breakfast?..."
Aura really only had one reason to be in the back alleys and that was to relax. However their seemed to be few gang members to play with today. Sad really maybe she had mined this area of it's most useless inhabitants, or maybe they had realized they were taking far to many losses from a fifteen year old girl highlighted in pink. Whatever the reason was they were not here, she assumed they had found a warehouse or something for safety. Looking around, she made no effort to hide herself, her Aura ready to take on an attack, but only a few rats ran off when she neared a garbage can, shaking her head she tied the strap of her tank top again, it kept coming undone and one of the key reason aura had come here today was to get clothing off of whatever victims she happened to find. her shirt had been white at one point, though a generous portion of it was now crimson, even the skirt she wore, showed its wear at the frayed hem and what looke dlike a bullet hole on the side of the knee length garment.
Looking down she smiled, as Solkat happily dined on a mouse she had captured. The black and white creature dragged it's meal by Aura and Ate it in the safety she provided. Deciding to wait where she was, aura watched her pet feat, showing it was done simply by walking away from the mean, several Ferrel cats could be seen looking at it, but none of them really wnated to play with solkat for it. Aura leaned down and petted solkat afectionently "was that good?" she asked the skunk with a smile on her face, her Aura relaxed but a thin pink Aura stayed up just in case. She began walking with Solkat in tow down the alley in search of more gang members, as she was growing board at this point. She formed an Aura hammer around her foot and kicked a dumpster hard, it harmed the dumpster little but it made her feel a bit better.
Then Aura heard voices and followed them, looking for whoever was talking, it was a girl she noticed, a description which became more suitable when she saw how she was dressed. Then she noticed the girl she had met at the jewelery shop wa stahre as well. Curious she approached them casually, though her Aura maintained a thin highlight upon her skin, She brushed a few locks of her messy hair behind her. "Hello" she called out curiously, jewel was a mutant after all so their was no reason to fight her for no reason. She kneeled down and ran her fingers through Solkats soft fur, the Skunk soundless as ever, simply dashed off another mouse, slamming into a trash can as the mouse looked for cover. The skunk came out without her prey. :How are you today?" she asked cheerfully as if the jewel heist ahd never happened.
Juka smirked at Jewel and her comments. "Well I know how amazing I am and I don't need you to tell me but I do so appreciate it." He gave her a peck on the cheek and spun around flamboyantly. "And as for where to eat, I thought we'd just start walking and see where it led us. More of an adventure that way." And he was always up for a grand adventure and that was, after all, the whole purpose of this trip anyway, other than finding kitties of course.
Juka was about to turn and begin walking in the direction of the outside of the alley when he noticed a young, somewhat disheveled looking woman approaching them. Normally her appearance would have bothered him but the first thing to catch his fleeting attention was the pink glow around her figure. "Amazing!" he stated, his voice awe-filled. "You glow pink. Fantastic." He walked up to her and tried to poke the pink aura, completely disregarding any possible danger in such an action.
Then he noticed the skunk and with a girlish shriek of terror he bubbled himself and shot into the sky 10 feet. "Its a skunk!" he yelled in disbelief. Then he noticed that the girl didn't seem to have any fear around the little furry creature so maybe it was tame or something? He brought his bubble back down to earth but wasn't quite ready to leave its sanctuary until he was certain of his safety.
Jewel froze when she saw Aura, and her eyes widened in a mix of surprise, fear and disbelief that in such a short time she managed to run into the same weird mutant girl in New York City again. Was she looking for them?... Apparently not. Still, her looks and the fact she was there made Jewel stop and stare at her, not entirely sure how she should react. At least the pink aura was not in the form of any weapon. Yet. The momentary pause, however, was enough for Juka to go ahead and... do his thing. "Juka, don't...!" she moved as soon as she saw what he was doing; just a second too late. Then came the bubble and the shriek, which almost made her heart stop right then and there. Did she hurt him?... "Juka!..." she took a few steps towards them... and stopped again "Skunk?..." Juka was always one for theatrics and overreacting - this time, it probably saved his life. Jewel looked up at him, floating in the bubble; then down at the skunk; then at Aura; then at the skunk again... and she couldn't help but bite back a laugh with a snort. Even if Aura was still scaring the heck out of her, it was just... funny. "Is that yours?" she asked Aura with a smirk, pointing at the skunk.
Aura was a bit suprised when one of the girl walked up to her and tried to poke her Aura, Out of reflex she hardened her Aura, so his poke touched a smooth surface. Then Juka shreiked and Aura leapt around to see why he might have shreiked, not for a secound thinking it might be the twounty pound pet at her side. It took her a few moments to realize he was afraid of poor littile solkat, she still thought of him as a kitty and so somtimes the term skunk did not register right away.
Still asured their was no danger she made no agreesive actions to them. Stills he then Saw Juka was floating in air, and at once her eyes brightened like a child in a candy store. Mutnat poers were gorgous and this was certainly no exception, evne better he guided it to the ground easily. "Thats beautiful" she said admireing the abillity. Then suddenyl as if breaking froma day dream she recalled somone else was thare. "Hey i recall you, your the pretty one who can controll the colorful rocks" she said, aura perception of jewels being quite low. She did not hate them but really did not understand why people paid what they did for them, still her abillity was quite pretty to, as was she. Aura acted as if she had not tried to harm Jewel just weeks before this.Aura did recall the event, but Jewel was a mutant and not interphereing in any mission of hers. "Yes, she likes to come with me when i dance with the locals in these areas" she said referring to fighting gang members who often populates such areas.
"Oh and your freind, did she make it?" she asked curiously remmebing how Meld had wounde dher. At the time it was aceptable, they had a mission and had to carry it out, even through other mutants. But now they could be freinds since this was not a mission. Missions always took priority over everything else, even freindship and love. The skunk for it's part seemed to not even care Juka was seemingly afraid of it, only stopping to sniff a few times nefore continueing to eat part of the rat it had left behind. "It's still hard to tell her apart from cats" she said shaking her head with a smile.
Juka was fascinated when he touched the pink aura and found it to be smooth and solid, so different from his own bubble. Had the appearance of the skunk not so dearly terrified him at his unexpected appearance he would have stood there studying it further. It was with some relief that he saw that neither his friend nor the pink aurad stranger seemed afraid of the skunk so, cautiously, he dismissed his bubble and landed softly back upon the ground. "Nice skunky?" he asked cautiously.
Juka suddenly became aware that the stranger was talking to him and, rightfully so, complimenting him. He preened and all but puffed up at the compliment, making and exaggerated curtsy. "It can hardly be considered my fault that both myself and my bubbles are the most beautiful things for miles around," he stated, dramatic as always. "And you, my sweet one, have a beautiful power all your own. What a gorgeous shade of pink that is. And you dance my dear? That is positively wonderful." He grinned, not having the faintest realization that she wasn't speaking of dancing in the sense that he was most familiar with.
"You like cats?" Juka asked excitedly at the stranger's mention of not being able to tell the skunk apart from a cat. He wasn't too sure about that (and still didn't quite trust the thing) but if there was one thing he knew it was that cats were the best creatures ever. They were every bit as beautiful and elegant as he; surely they had been created just to keep him worthy company? "Then you are in luck, my dear, for we are going in search of kittens for me as we speak. I am certain that you must join us, darling." He knew she wouldn't' refuse because who possibly could refuse Juka?
The whole situation was getting more absurd by the minute. Jewel's brain was still processing the fact that Aura just showed up out of the blue; not to mention getting over the skunk fright. Juka, however, seemed to be dealing with the whole encounter on his own elegant and ignorant way - like he had no idea who the pinky girl was. Which he really didn't.
"Hey i recall you, your the pretty one who can controll the colorful rocks"
Jewel raised an eyebrow.
Oh yes, sugah, and I recall you, you are the teenage soldier with the shiny pink weapons and the blood on your clothes. And you don't even realize it. She had the same strange feeling as back then in the jewelry shop; she felt sorry for the girl, and at the same time, she felt a twinge of curiosity about how she became the person she was. She felt drawn to her, like moth to light, even if Aura's whole attitude was scaring the living daylights out of her at the same time. Jewel only nodded. Yeah, she was the pretty one with the rocks.
"Oh and your freind, did she make it?"
Jewel nodded once again. "She did. We took her to our healer. She is fine now." She bit back all the following questions. Like 'what happened to Davis?...' Fortunately, Juka started talking about cats and dancing as if nothing was wrong in the whole wide world. And invited pink aura girl along. Against her better judgment, and her mind that was screaming at her to get out of here, Jewel looked at the strange girl. "Um... my name is Lily, and this is my friend Juka. And you are...?"
Juka had a high opinion of himself and in some cases that could be good, Aura assumed, though it was opposite of her own style. "Yes Solkat here is fond of people, i got her after a group of animal shaped mutants set free much of the zoo animals a few months back, though at the time i thought she was a cat untill a good freind of mine ponted out my error, it's still hard to tell them apart though" she said looking down at Solkat, who plopped down on the ground laziliy. It really wa spast his useual hour to be up, Aura thought to herself.
"Yes, i was brought up danceing after my former Master" she said with a smile obviously taking pride on her former master. "She also tought me how to use my power" she said and taking a step back, she let her aura fade completley from view. Then She held up her hand and her pink aura appeared around one finger then faded and went to the next and kept going passing onto he rother hand untill it reached her pinky. From thare the aura flowed out to cover her body in the pink stuff, Aura then begn to form planes upon it and hsarp angles each time her aura flowed like a liquid to respond to her silent command. Then Aura formed a drill around one of he rhands, and then a shovel and finnaly an axe before she let her aura fade to a faint shadow of what it was. Aura had decided the best way to deal with juka was to show off a bit herself.
"Thats good then" she said to jewel upon hearing the other girl had lived through the wound. They were mutants after all and so it was good to try and not kill them if she could. Jewel had done well in the conflict Aura thought, despite being outmatched they had let the jewel shop owner escape and bought him enough time whare he did get away. "I do like cat's and that sounds fun, after all maybe i can figure out why people don't mistake her for a cat" she said oblivious to the real diffrence between the species.
"My name is Aura, and this is Solkat, i named her after an old crush i had" she said for a secound she looked distent as if looking at somthing far off. She bent down to pet solkat gently and smiled, she then pointed down the aleey. A few clicks of her toungue and the Skunk looked up and then walked off down the alley. "It was past his bed time, he likes the night" she said not even realizeing it was becuse the species was nocturnal. "So if i may ask how did you two come to find out about your beauitful powrers" she asked curious, she loved to hear stories of how people found their powers out.
