The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Everything regarding the conversation of the girl that made it flew right over Juka's head without a notice or a comment. He was far too distracted by the strange girl with the pink aura in front of him and far too intent on his mission to find himself kitties. Not to mention the skunk which he could still not quite bring himself to trust fully. He did, however, manage to notice when he was introduced (he had a tendency to notice his own name even when he noticed nothing else) and went down on one knee, reaching out for the girl's hand in order to kiss it in regal fashion.
Juka watched Aura's display of her power in fascination and clapped exuberantly when she was finished. He wasn't really sure about the drill, that looked to be rather dangerous and he wasn't the kind of person to be violent (make love not war as they say) but the rest of it he found simply enthralling. But, never one to be outshined, he decided to do a little demonstration of his own, pausing only briefly to remember the promise he had made earlier to Jewel about no powers. But, they were, the three of them, alone in this little alleyway so he didn't think it would be a problem and he vowed to himself that he wouldn't use them at all once they left.
In a moment Juka bubbled himself and floated off the ground a few feet. Then, in a moment of inspiration, he bubbled the fearful little skunk. It could hardly spray him if it was stuck in a bubble, after all. Floating a few more feet off the ground, he rotated the tendril with the bubble at the end and the skunk inside around the outside of his main bubble. And then he returned to the ground, certain to deposit the skunk far away from himself, unbubbled and took a bow.
"As for how I discovered my powers," Juka said, grinning, "it was kind of by chance. I was alone and suddenly I was floating. In a bubble no less." He giggled in remembrance. It was a little more complicated than that but he didn't feel like remembering that time in his life. "Now, I believe we have some kitties to hunt," he announced, preparing to exit the alley and set off in search of kittens. And of food, of course.
Why does Juka seem to bring out the show-off from everyone he meets? - Jewel wondered as she watched the strange duo do their demonstrations. She glanced around once in a while to make sure they were alone; she was already breaking... um, bending some rules just by being out here, and the last time Aura was around, Jewel had some serious talking to afterwards. Maman could get really protective over her little girl. Once the demonstrations were over with, Jewel cleared her throat, looking at Aura. "You have seen my powers at work already..." she said with a slight smirk on her face "As for finding out... well, I don't really know. I guess I just figured them out myself, fiddling with these" she lifted her hands to show the bracelets she always wore. "My..." My family is in the jewelry business, she wanted to add, but stopped herself just in time. Talking to this strange girl was one thing; trusting her was another. Careful, Jewel. Do anything like talking about your family to a member of the Order, and Streak'll have a fit. "Um... let's go find some cats for Juka. I think Solkat is not his type" she chuckled. She looked at Aura, who apparently decided to accompany them "We could also find some nice clothes for you, if you'd like." Apart from the stains on her dress, Jewel wondered as they started walking, where the hell did that come from?... Juka's enthusiasm for reforming people was really rubbing off on her. Oh joy.
The skunk was not very happy about being in the bubble, but seemed to realize spraying would not help. Instead it looked over to Aura, who gave it a reassuring nod. Not entirely convinced one her paws were on the floor, Solkat tore off from the alley not particularly liking these bubbles it failed to understand. Aura could hardly blame her most people did not use their powers on the skunk so she was rather unused to it. his control over the power was Impressive, she had to wonder if the bubbles could be used on defense. What could they withstand, she mused to herself, but Juka did not seem like the dancing type and that was all right, the world took all kinds of Mutants after all, even those who opposed the order had their place and would after humans died out.
Aura smiled as she heard how Juka found his powers, he kept it short as did Jewel. Aura guessed their was more to it then that. Their normally was after all, they all had their stories and Aura had hers. These two had stories that were much more pleasent then her own. At least they sounded as such to her. Juka seemed like he really wanted to find kitties and Aura was kind of hoping to as well, after all she was still unsure the main differences between them and cats other then coloring. they were both cute in her eyes, but she also knew Solkat cared little for cats, or rather they stayed away from her, as did many, even other mutants. Aura at first thought Solkat was much like her a mutant of some sort, but no she was not she knew after reading a wiki article.
"Yea i suppose i could use new clothing, most of what i brought from the woods has been destroyed in some way, i can't recall the last time i shopped" she commented dropping her aura as she walked with them. It was true she had no memory of going into a store at all much less going into one to shop. Upon further thought she realized she ahd gone into some gas stations and banks but were they really stores? The blood was normally from gang members and some times cops. "I Lived in the woods in Canada for years before i moved back here, after my friends were killed" she said her voice not sounding sad at the event but their was a tone of missing them that underlined her voice. This would prove to be an intresting experince she thought to herself.
"You know each other?" Juka blinked, finally realizing that Jewel and Aura seemed to have some familiarity with one another. He wondered where beautiful, elegant, high class Jewel would have met the somewhat less high class and, now that he really payed attention, kind of dirty and ragged teenager, would have met each other. Then again, they were both mutants so that would probably explain everything.
Juka grinned at the mention of getting Aura clothes, all thoughts and contemplations of the mystery at hand forgotten in the excitement of going shopping and, more than just shopping, helping make the pretty little teenager absolutely gorgeous. And who better to help with such a thing than himself and Jewel?
"My dear pink Aura," Juka began, "it would be my absolute pleasure to find you some fitting and beautiful clothes that will make your figure even more stunning than it all ready is." Hearing the words of her friends' deaths he wasn't certain how to react to that. Instead of debating how he should act, he gave a sympathetic smile and started off towards where he believed the nearest bet store to be. Jewel would comfort her if she needed it, surely? And of course, he expected both of them to follow wherever he led. Kitties first and clothing second. He began humming happily to himself.
"Oh yes, we have met before." Jewel nodded, and seconds later she was really, truly grateful that Juka didn't pursue that train of thought any further. Explaining the whole 'we fought each other and now we're going shopping' thing would have been... awkward. To say the least. It's okay, I'm dealing with it. She rolled her eyes as they started walking in the general direction of a supposed pet shop. Juka just had to flirt with any female he met. So far, Aura didn't seem to mind. When she mentioned the death of her friends, Jewel blinked; she did hear Aura talk about horrible things during the fight, but this was different. It sounded less threatening, but a lot more serious. Jewel had always believed that people who do bad things always have a reason for becoming... what they are. Strangely enough, she was less and less convinced that this strange pink girl could be labeled as 'bad'. Her curiosity piked again; but she knew it wouldn't be wise to start asking questions. Instead, she just nodded as she fell into step beside Aura. "That must have been hard for you. I'm sorry." It was not really original; but all she wanted right now was to show Aura that she cared.
"We shared a brief dance" Aura replied to Juka, totally unaware that other people usually did not get her meaning at first. Aura would have enjoyed the dance to go longer, but she had a mission to attend to at the time. They had failed in part do to jewels actions, but these things did happen, and their message had been very clear. Still Missions and life were entirely separate things all together. Aura did find the contrast between jewel and Juka quite interesting. Juka was flamboyant and aura ahd mistaken him for a woman at first. Jewel in her opinion was better looking, more reserved and seeme dless likely to walk off a cliff, in a matter of speaking.
Aura had nothing better to do and her last remaining peice of clothing that somehow kept surviving was a sailor Jupiatr uniform Kasumi had given her. Which made her wonder if the girl had lived, her drilling had been a bit brutal on her internals, Aura thought. Aura followed Juka has he seemed to be playing group leader, Aura was a solider so she was use to letting other take the command role. Aura realized she would actually have to learn moneys value before doing anything with it. Luckily she had two friends to help, two beautiful mutants, the day had certainly gotten to be good.
"It was rather sad" Aura admitted unsure how to respond for Jewels apology for it. After a few moments she spoke again. "Thank you" was all she could think to say to jewel. In truth she never minded questions about her past, She enjoyed hearing them almost as much as telling her own. "It is sad but these things happen and we must move past them to continue living" she said, although her own advice had proven very hard for her to follow. Their was not a day that went by that their brutal deaths did not haunt her mind. "Our pasts are likes books, most valuable when read by others" she said with a smile, acting almost like she had not attempted to kill Jewel just a week or so ago. Aura found she lost track of the days easily, rarely knowing the day of the week or even the month.
"You dance too, my darling?" Juka asked Aura, completely missing the fact that she wasn't referring to the sort of dancing that he was so familiar with. As he walked towards the pet store he did a simple dance along the street, perfectly timed with the music playing within his own mind. He knew that people were staring at him but didn't particularly care. If anything he liked the attention. He paused to grin in their direction before ceasing his dance.
Juka was finally starting to come to the realization that Aura was not like anyone he had ever before encountered. She had a darkness too her and a depth of character that was starting to make Juka just the faintest bit uncomfortable. It wasn't that he was afraid of her, more that he didn't know how to deal with such things. His own past, while not perfect, was sheltered and his problems had been the problems of a rich adolescent and nothing worse than that. Even so, he determined that he could still try and bring a little joy into her life, even if that life was not something he could easily comprehend.
Juka began humming to himself as he finally arrived at the entrance to the pet store. He did intend to get Aura some clothes and to fulfill his promise of food, honestly he did, but kitties had to come first. He grinned and held open the door. "After you, my fair ladies," he announced gallantly.
Dance. Realization dawned on Jewel as she watched Juka skip along the street in front of them. Aura was not talking about that kind of dancing at all. Something was seriously off about this girl. She couldn't tell a skunk and a cat apart, and didn't know what various things were called; still, she said things so poetic they sounded strange from the same lips that talked about human extinction. Said?... Try 'quoted'. Jewel remembered Aura talking about a master or teacher of some kind. That would explain a lot. She glanced at Aura and was about to say something when Juka finally stopped at the pet shop. Jewel sighed; she felt like she was taking two kids out for a walk, both of them with their own agendas and their own weird thoughts. One seriously needed some new clothes, and one was seriously obsessed with buying a cat. Between the two of them, she just had to do the best she could. She smiled at Aura. "Let's go and buy some cats." And then she turned and walked into the pet shop. As they entered, a girl who'd been reading a magazine in the back of the shop looked up and greeted them with a smile. Jewel smiled back at her. While she did, she couldn't shake off a certain feeling of déja vu; she glanced at Aura again. She smiled. She hoped Juka will take the lead once again.
Juka began danceing before she could even reply, Aura said nothing of this unsure what to really make of it. She knew this type of danceing and had once ade the mistake of calling it useless once. She had learned danceing could be a form of training. It made one able to move quickly which could be very valuble. Still Aura simply kept walking to the pet store, curiious if they would have more then cats in the place.
"all right" she said and walked into the pet store looking around. Their were all kinds of noises. Birds screeching and screaming, a parrot said hello. Puppys in the back barked and hmaster wheels squeeked. All in all it was an envirement Aura was not the most thrilled with but it did have some intresting creatures like the parrot. It was colorful and it seemed to talk though Aura quickly realized the bird had no idea what it was saying, as it failed to answer her questions in any more useful way then "hello". It was a good size store though Aura realized as she looked around.
She ran her fingers through her hair as she looked around the store, their were alot of items here and Aura wonderd just how much a pet needed. She was pretty sure they lived outside without all this stuff. In fact her own skunk lacked most of it, though she did consider weather she needed more food for her skunk, which she fead cat food and rats, Lookign over at the mice she considerd buying several of them to feed to SOlkat and tried to recall how many she had at home. AFter all they had to live a decent length of time to matter.
Juka grinned happily at Jewel, much like a little child eagerly anticipating a shiny new toy. And in some ways Juka was much like a little child. The world still held a fascinating wonder for him, all color and mystery and new discoveries to be made. And kittens, he was quite certain, would be the best discovery of all with their furry cuteness and their endless curiosity and boundless energy. Kittens and Juka were simply made to be together. He might not be able to dedicate himself to any one person (he wasn't about to refrain from anyone having a chance to experience his absolute wonder, if nothing else) but he could most certainly dedicate himself to kittens.
"May I help you?" a woman at the desk of the store asked as Juka made his grand entrance. She was in her early 20s and a little on the plain side, but still rather cute with her short black hair. She smiled helpfully although stared just a little bit longer than was strictly polite. Not that Juka minded of course; he didn't dress this way to not get noticed after all.
With a glowing smile and a grand gesture, Juka announced, "I am here to purchase kittens from your fine establishment." Not waiting for a response from the woman he walked further into the store until he spotted exactly what he was looking for. In the center of the store was a large enclosed area complete with kitten toys and kitten dens and kitten food and drink. And, best of all, were the kittens themselves. There were six of them, ranging in color from an all black kitten to an all white kitten, 2 that were a combination of black and white, a grey striped kitten and a black, white and grey spotted kitten. 2 of them were playing together and the other 4 were sleeping in a little furry kitten heap.
Juka let out a joyous yell as he saw the kittens. "I wish I could take them all home with me," he stated mournfully. Then stopped to consider, could he take them all home with him? But no, best just to start with two. Wasn't it? Oh the decisions. His life was just so very difficult at times!
Jewel's always had a soft spot for pets - actually, for anything living. She got a pony for her sixth birthday, and a horse when she turned fourteen. She also had dogs, quite a few of them, and a couple of birds. She'd never been a cat person; that was for Maman, who bought cats that matched the curtains. Looking around in the pet shop, she couldn't help but smile. The whole place seemed so normal, so mundane, so far out of reach from the new life she was living. She knew she shouldn't be feeling like this; still, compared to her recent experiences, she welcomed 'normal' for a change. She walked over to the kittens, and looked at them; they were fluffy and cute, and she didn't need to look at Juka to know he'd be standing here for quite a while before he can overcome his enthusiasm and decide which one to buy. So, with a quick glance to Aura, she walked on to another enclosed area, which contained three puppies of indeterminate breed. There she smiled happily and reached down to pet them. Dammit, Juka, she thought, you're making me think about buying one of these. She knew better than to say that out loud.
Most of the animals in the place Aura had seen vertions of, but none quite like these. Aura was intrested in each of them and as she looked, her guard fell as she looked through the various animals. Their was a good verity to the places selection of them. Looking over the cats she did notice none had quite the same looking coat as her skunk, and solkats tail did seem fluffier then these cats. Still with all the diffrent coat looks just amoung these three it was possible a cat could have the same coat or one like it. Was the diffrence in that tail, if that was the only diffrence she could hardly see why they were diffrent at all.
The brds seemed strange locked in cages and their songs sad to her ears. Kneeling down a bit, she smiled. She felt a kin ship with such animals, after all they had locked her in a cage. The smaller birds held her attention for fleeting moments, but the parrots seemed like gems. They could talk human, Aura smiled beleiveing it meant the creatures could think and feel just like them. True they were mere animals but the idea the bird could talk at all, seemed to lower humans position further, if even a bird could talk, then what made them worth anything anymore?
Juka looked enthralled still back by the cats. Aura felt it best not to bother him well he studied them. She looked at the dogs and was reminded of her freind Jaxons dog. It was bigger then these but the jaws and paws of the creatures seemed useful tools in fighting. Aura briefly considerd buying one of the dogs, to fight with later. She had never fought a dog before and thought it could be intresting. Still these were much to small. She thought back to watching the wolves back in the woods, and some times useing them to find food "Such wonderous creatures, i have seen bigger one's take down Elk before" she said looking Over at Jewel. Once again she looked back to Juka as he explaimed about taking them all home. Aura aproved beliveing Juka's love for the animal to be for their use in fighting off rodents and the like, never once thinking they might eat somthing other then what solkat ate.
As enthralled as Juka was by his kittens, he was not so enthralled that he failed to notice that his two companions had found creatures of their own to draw their attention; puppies in the case of Jewel and birds in the case of Aura. He had never been much of a dog or a bird person himself (they simply didn't match his haughty and perfect disposition) but he had to admit that the puppies were rather adorable (even if not quite as adorable as his kittens) and even the parrot was rather bright and colorful and therefor appealing in its own way.
"I have it!" Juka announced in his own unique fashion. "Its hardly fair that only I should come out of here with my precious kittens when I can so obviously see that both of you wonderful girls have attractions of your own. Jewel, my darling, you obviously must have your puppies. Take as many as you like and I'm sure they will be more than happy in your wonderful home." He turned to Aura. "And Aura, dear heart, I see you eying that stately looking bird there. I simply insist that you must have it."
Juka turned back to his kittens grinning. It was still such a difficult decision to make, which kittens should he take and which would he be forced to leave. "Oh I just can't decide," he flung up his arms in desperation. Why did life have to be so horribly difficult?
Juka sounded exactly like himself once again. Jewel looked up, smiling, as she lifted one of the puppies into her arms. Even though it was clearly very young, just recently separated from his mother, the little creature was surprisingly heavy. "Thank you, Juka, but I'll have to pass. This little darling is going to grow really big really soon. Wolfhound, right?" she glanced over at the girl, and she nodded with a grin "I can't take one of these to the Mansion... maybe later. I have to get settled in first." Still holding the puppy, she walked over to Juka to look at the kittens once again. The puppy sniffed the air and wriggled excitedly in her arms. "Well, you could start with deciding if you'd like a lady kitten or a little gentleman." she chuckled at her friend. She glanced over at Aura again. The girl seemed to take a deep interest in parrots. Looked a bit out of character, but definitely more human than her previous interests. She smiled. "I used to have one of those. Very entertaining, but not too friendly."
Aura considered buying the bird to set it free for the most part. All animals should be free to come and go as they pleased. Solkat could have left anytime she wanted, for some reason she enjoyed Aura's presence and Aura did hers as well. Aura was willing to take the bird home before letting it choose it's destiny. Aura was blissfully unaware that parrots simply could not live out in NYC very well, they simply were not snow birds nor did they understand migration. As aura watched the bird it said hello and Aura said hi back, the bird then asked how she was which Aura replied to, not realizing the bird was just mimicking human speech. She had never seen such a colorful bird before and figured they must live somwhare else.
Then Juka said she needed to get it, and well Aura could;d find no argument their sos he simply replied with "Ok" and walked over to the counter, pointing back at the bird she wished to purchase. The woman smiled and informed her the bird was easily $1200. Aura tilted her head unsure what this actually meant. Reaching into her purse she pulled out a thick wad of cash, easily three times the amount the bird was worth. "Will this be enough?" Aura asked curiously/ The woman after a few minutes of looking at the stack of money she was sure no fifteen year old girl would have, asking Aura to hold on the woman went to the back, a bit to flabbergasted at two things, The Money aura just put down like it was nothing or the idea that she seemed to have no idea how much was really their, she wanted to check for counterfeits in the stack.
Aura shrugged and walked back by Juka and jewel. The Kittens other then their coats looked the same to her. Jewel mentioned the dog she was holding would get really big. She wondered if it would compare to the German Shepard she saw before. "Never saw one before, it sounded kind of sad, i think he wants to be able to fly" she said looking back at the bird who had no outside experience. As far as Aura was concerned if the parrot chose to stay she would care for it, if not she would wish it luck and ask it to visit. "I think the lady went to count if i had enough in what i handed her, her eyes went wide and she flew to the back room with a marker" she said not understanding what a counterfeiting pen did.
