The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Juka paused across the street from the Mansion, taking out a mirror from one of his many pockets. He gave himself a careful and critical inspection, had to make sure his hair and makeup were perfect. Thankfully it was a warm calm day, not a breeze to be felt, and his hair remained exactly as he had put it before leaving the house, gracefully enveloping his face with a punkish sort of spikes just to make things interesting. His makeup, of course, was equally perfect. It had better be considering the vast amount of time he had spent ensuring it was so before leaving his top floor apartment suite. His gown, likewise, was pristine, falling in dark folds around his legs and hiding his cute black boots. This was the first time in years that he had spoken with Jewel and, more than that, it was the first time he actually expected to meet up with other mutants. He had to make an impression. That was important.
Inspection completed successfully, Juka held his head up high and walked confidently to the Mansion gate, pushing the buzzer to be let in. His old friend probably wouldn't be expecting him, he hadn't called and had only been in the city briefly anyway, but he couldn't wait to see her expression. He had sort of hacked into his father's computers before he left and tracked down the information regarding his old friend, discovered she was staying here and, upon further research, discovered that this was a place for mutants. That was an unexpected surprise, to say the least, but it only served to reinforce the fact that New York was the city for him.
"I'm here to meet Jewel" he said to the voice on the other end of the intercom system. He looked himself over one more time, it couldn't hurt to be sure that things were as perfect as they needed to be. He knew he was the most beautiful person around, wherever he went, but encountering mutants was a new experience and he had to make as profound and impression on them as he did on everyone else. They would love him, he was sure of it. Just as he was sure that Jewel would be thrilled to see him. How could he not? Surely he was her most amazing friend and she had missed him horrible? He giggled to himself at the thought.

Shin shifted the paperwork across the desk in the mansion's main office, and reached up to flick the clackers for the casual distraction. Hour three on-duty tonight, and all was well. He stared at the name on the page, then glanced up at the cameras focused on the area by the front gate. A man/girl in odd/normal garb approached the entrance. His face was familiar... Shin pressed down on the button to respond over the intercom.
"Hey Juka. Is Jewel expecting you? Hold on, I'll go get her. I'm letting you in. Meet us in by the front doors." Another button squashed down. The gates swung open long enough to let the fabulous mutant through. They swung shut as he made his way onwards. Shin got up from his seat, grabbing the X-communicator off the table and skipped out the door. A few minutes later, a knock came on Jewel's door.
"Hey, Jewel. There's a visitor coming from the front gate for you. Come and say hi." He stood there in the doorway wearing a crimson dress shirt and a pair of black pants. A necklace with a silver chain and a stylized S hung on his chest. Not too shabby, if he did say so himself. His meeting with Juka the night prior had made him realize his 'fabulous' quota was hardly being filled. With a smile, he knocked again.
"Coming!" Jewel answered from the room; her voice sounded cheerful, and so was her face when she finally opened the door. She got more relaxed and happy with every day she spent in the Mansion. The major turning points of getting comfortable in her new home were mostly marked by her appearance - the first being leaving her room without make-up, then came having breakfast in pj's, and the latest being opening the door to Shin's knock while she was still putting on one of her shoes. "Give me a sec here" she chuckled, balancing on one high-heeled sandal as she was strapping the other around her ankle. She was wearing a light skirt and a strapless top, complete with all her usual heavy-but-stylish jewelry (and a silver rose in her hair). "Who's looking for me anyway?" she asked Shin as she followed him to meet the mysterious friend. She had no idea who it could be. It's not like many of her former friends knew she was living here...
"Thank you my dear," Juka answered, entering the now unlocked Mansion doors and thankful to be once again indoors. It was just such an effort to keep up the image of perfection when he was forced to fight with the very elements themselves; wind and heat and, worse of all by fair, rain. He hated rain! Or at least, he did when he was forced to be out in it and not protected by his always useful bubble. It seemed that nature itself had a bone to pick with him, probably insulted that he had managed to be more wonderful than anything it had been able to create. Yes, that must be it.
Although he'd never actually admit it (couldn't even hint that something might be more amazing than he, himself) he was actually quite impressed with the Mansion. If not for the fact that he would be forced to live with other people, people who could never hope to compete with his loveliness and thus whose egos would be sadly crushed due to constantly trying, he might have even considered taking up residence there. But he knew that could never happen, he would never force such a fate on anyone.
As soon as Juka spotted Jewel he ran (or moved as quickly as his heels would allow him to do so) and embraced her with great enthusiasm, not having any concern personal space nor even seeming to remember that they had never been all that close as children, just occasional play partners as their parents did business together. "Jewel, my dear, it is so wonderful to see you again. Its Juka don't you remember me? Well of course you remember me, how could you forget? I'm being silly now obviously. And look at you, my dear, just a vision of loveliness just as I remember you being. Oh I am so happy to see you again, and to find you here in a mutant mansion how very surprising and glorious." Finally he took a breath and let Jewel go.
Well, that was unexpected. Actually, it was Unexpectedness him(?)self with weird hair, make-up, and... heels? Jewel was quite comfortable in the world of fashion (came with the family business), but Juka's appearance, together with the way he swept her off her feet did knock the air out of her lungs. "Oof..." it only took a split second for the name to register in her slightly oxygen-deprived mind, and a full half minute of cross-referencing it with the faces of all the kids she used to play with (politely and quietly) while the grown-ups 'did business'. Of course, that was a long time ago... "Juka?... Juka!" she smiled at him as soon as she was un-hugged "Wow! Look at you!" she took a step back, holding his hands cheerfully as she looked him up and down. Now, Jewel was a lady to boot. One thing was her genuine devotion to fashion and style, which resulted from her upbringing and personality - and another thing was the good old-fashioned Southern politeness that got her through so many awkward situations before (mainly by keeping her from saying what was on her mind). That one was grilled into her deeper than the X-gene itself. It had to be. All that said and done, she was really, honesty happy to see Juka again. "I can't believe you are here!" she tilted her head as she smiled at him "How long has it been?... I don't even remember! Oh my God, you've changed so much! I never would've thought I'd see you... here?" That was the point when she realized another aspect of the situation. She blinked, and tilted her head the other way. "No way... you have powers too?!"

Shin watched as Juka scooped Jewel up into a big hug. It seemed they knew each other indeed. Old friends, he wondered, or something more? From the way Jewel was talking, he drifted more and more towards 'old friend', but hey. You never know. He smirked and directed a one-hand wave at Juka. "Hey again, Mr. Famous. How've ya been?"
What had it been? One day since he'd helped the artful Asian to his apartment on the back of a scooter? And dressed as spectacular as ever. Visual Kei was indeed a lifestyle and an art. He glanced at Jewel's question as realization slowly grew on his face. "Don't tell me. Nawww... you aren't planning to stay at the Mansion, are you?" Not that there was anything wrong with that. "We'd be glad to have you."
Juka grinned, with just a touch of self righteous smugness, at the reaction he had elicited from his old friend. It was just one more bit of proof of how irresistibly beautiful he was. "I really am here," he assured her emphatically. "Who could possibly impersonate me?" He spun around in a circle, making his skirts flower around him artfully. "And I think it's been...4 or five years?" He wasn't entirely certain but that seemed about right.
"Oh you have no idea what kind of amazing powers I have," Juka stated teasingly. "The things I can do are nothing short of glorious." Instead of waiting for more questions regarding his power and always one to be the center of attention, he opted for a demonstration. With a moment's calming thought, Juka touched the power within himself and manifested his force bubble. Almost instantly he jumped off the ground by about a foot and a semi-translucent, semi-reflective barrier appeared over his entire body, encircling him. With another thought he commanded it to rise and did a sort of acrobatic twirling spin in the air, quite aware that the was the center of attention and wanting to make a show of it, then commanded the bubble to return to the ground. "As you can see, quite fantastic." He grinned again. "And what can you do, my dear Jewel?"
"Tetsuya," Juka exclaimed happily, "so wonderful to see you again as well." He would have run over and given him a hug as well but, remembering his less than warm reception as such familiar acts last time, decided against it. Instead he decided on a slightly less familiar but just as dramatic curtsy. "I am afraid that I will not be staying at the Mansion," Juka said shaking his head sadly. "I'm afraid people just don't do well living with me, but I would love to be able to visit you and my wonderful friend Jewel and all of the other fascinating, I'm sure, residents within."
Juka's showing off earned an immediate and rare reaction from Jewel: she laughed, cheerful and loud. "Look at you!" she watched him float in the bubble with a smile. Juka was always a weird one. A curious one. Most people would have said he was a brat, and many of them would have sworn he was a girl. Playing with him was much like this scene right now - Juka being in the center of attention. And still, he did make Jewel laugh. She couldn't explain why. "Wow. Beautiful." she tried to touch the bubble with a fingertip before it disappeared. She was not sure if Juka wanted a demonstration of her powers, or just a straight answer. But cheerful as she was right now, she decided to make a show of it, just for him. Her necklace and bracelets opened themselves with a clink, sneaked down her arms, and levitated into mid-air in front of her. She held her two hands on the two sides of them, concentrating; the gold and silver pieces started forming and twirling around, moving like tiny snakes, and them wove themselves into a new pattern; the tiny stones arranged themselves in the new design, and finally, there was a new necklace and bracelets, complete and a bit more modern (and flashy) than before (that was the effect of Juka's style on her...). Jewel smiled as she put her new jewelry on. The only thing that remained intact through the whole thing was the silver rose in her hair. She smiled as Juka talked to Shin. Now this was one curious meeting; looks like they've met before, though. Jewel wondered where. She also noticed that Shin didn't have all the usual reactions to Juka's weird style - that was a good thing. Rare, but good. "You are not staying? What a pity... are you living in New York City now?"

Shana was trying out a form of mediatation in the yard hidden behind some trees. She was trying to imp[rove her focus, she ahd been invited to the danger room by Sam, but she was afraid to ask about it again. When sam had the time she was confident he would ask, or was he waiting for her. With a Sigh she dwelled more on the issue, fighting herself if a one player vertion opf mental chess. People here had been so kind to her, they either failed entirely to see through her or they just did not care, but asking on this might blow her cover anyway. Why did things have to be so complicated.
She liked many of the people she had met here, they ahd been so kind, amoung them jewel and kasumi. It was almost hard to remind herself she had to keep some distence from them, mentally anyay. Trying to calm herself down, she began to breathe slowly, trying to relax her mind and her body and push the thoughts from her mind. These things had no answers, and meditation wa ssuppose to be with a clear mind. Putting ehr hands together before her she tried again to concentrate hard on maintaining a clear mind.
Her concnetration completely gone, a wagon, one of the younger mansion residents left out, decided to fly. The Wagon shot up quickly into the air as she opened her eyes, all she could do was follow the wagon up and over the tree as it broke dozens of smaller branches. She was amount to mutter a swear word when she realizes whare the wagon would have gone. Rushing torward the door, she heard the wagon hit pavement and break into several peices, coverd id leafs and branches. She looked embarressed as she walked up becide the group. She knew Jewel but the other girl she could not place, then Shana realized somthing as she looke dhim over and smiled. Was this person like her, could she truely talk with this one, but her hope soon faded as predictably her thoughts fought themselfs, maybe he was justa j-rock fanboy. Either way she could not hide now, not after crashing an object within feet of them. The guy she noticed was cute looking, not quite as atractive as the other two though.
Running her fingers through her long blue she tried to force the embarressed look from her face. "Sorry....I lost control and well...." she said her eyes looking at the wagon apolageticly. At least their had been no one in it. That could have eneded badly. She wa sunsure what to do now, she ahd no idea who the toy even belonged to much less whare to put it now that it was considerably less useful then it had been prior to her encounter with it. Playing with the hem of the light blue dress she wore she looked around her lips shimmering in subtile pink. her eyes stayed low, and she noticed the on guy was wearing heels, an intresting choice to say the least.

A faint 'aww' escaped his lips at the response. No J-rock songstress at the mansion? That wasn't any fun. Ah well. He nodded as Juka explained his reasons. So he just wanted to live alone in New York? That was fine. Shin watched the displays of mutant powers with a touch of wonder. Juka floated on bubbles? My, but that was magnificent. The ability to drift along on the wind... Shin smiled at the thought. As Jewel finished, Shin turned to her.
"Very nice. I might have to ask you to help me with a piece of jewelry for Kasumi one of these days. It seems like you've gotten better since you last showed me that." He smiled at Juka. "And that bubble was fabulous indee--" The crunch of a red wagon clattered behind the group. Shin spun to stare at the splintered remains of the toy. A slow frown slipped onto his face as a person in a blue dress approached them, spewing 'sorries'.
"Well, at least nobody was hurt, right?" He noted calmly, checking to make sure each person in the group was in pristine health. "Though... that's Janie's wagon, isn't it? She won't be pleased... What's your name, anyways?" His voice took on the tone of the hall monitor as he finished off his statement with a question. His eyes narrowed with good-natured suspicion at the gender-neutral person in blue.
"That is wonderful," Juka exclaimed to Jewel enthusiastically. He ran up to embrace her again, quicker and slightly less suffocatingly than the first embrace. "I can only imagine what beautiful things you must be able to make. Oh, and your parents, they must be so proud of you!" He frowned a moment, only the briefest downturn of his painted lips. "That is, your parents do know don't they?" From what he remembered of her parents, they didn't have the same traditional conservative (and wholly tiresome) Japanese values that his parents had and they had always seemed to be fairly close.
"And I am, of course, staying in this wonderful city," Juka assured her, the frown vanishing from his face in an instant. "I promise I'm really not so far from here and, well, you see how its not so difficult for me to travel. I promise to visit as often as you want me too." Which he was sure would be often. Who wouldn't' want to spend time with him, after all? "And I'll come and visit you too, my dear friend Tetsuya." It didn't even occur to him that he had only met the other man a day ago and he might not share Juka's enthused friendship.
Any further comments (and Juka always had further comments) were delayed as he heard a loud crash nearby as something wooden, he couldn't quite tell what, shattered into many little pieces. He screamed slightly and jumped back, as pieces of broken wagon came far too close for comfort. "That could have severely injured me," he said melodramatically, glaring at the newcomer sternly.
His angry disbelief, however, dissolved almost instantly as he looked over the blood haired arrival. "Oh, I'm so sorry to have yelled at you," he exclaimed, his regret gushing from his voice. "You have to understand, I am very delecit. But my, now aren't you just a vision of beauty." He grinned flirtatiously and went to grab her hand and place it to his lips, if she would allow him to do so.
Jewel smiled - Juka did compliment her powers in his own over-enthusiastic way. That was always good to hear. "Yes, they know. They were... the ones who sent me here." she added, gracefully skipping the part about policemen and lawyers "To learn more about my powers. And you wouldn't believe what a charming place this school is!" it just came out like that. Jewel chuckled, mainly at herself, and winked at Shin. Old habits die hard. "Yes, you must visit..." the rest of whatever she was going to say was crushed by the falling wagon. Fortunately, nothing else got crushed. Jewel yelped and jumped, almost loosing her balance; stared at the remains of the unfortunate wagon, not really sure about what just happened. The shock soon wore off when Shana appeared, shy and frightened as ever. Jewel sighed and turned to her with a smile. "It's all right, Shana, no one's... hurt?" she raised an eyebrow as Juka practically attacked the poor frightened girl, and followed him without thinking about it, drawn by all her practice in social encounters. "Shana, this is my dear friend Juka. Juka, this is Shana. She is a student here just like me." she smiled at both of them; mainly to cheer Shana up and keep Juka from invading her personal space (immediately...).

"My name is Shana" She responded to shin she ahd no idea who he was talking about. Still whoevers wagon it was, she would be happy to replace, despite it being an acident. This kind of situation eas exactly what she was trying to avoid. her powers would cause mischeif and then attention would be drawn to her, which she tried to avoid when she could. "i'll be glad to replace it" she added after it, she looked back at three for a moment, she was surprised she had launched it that far.
"i do apolagize" Shana began to Juka realizeing that had he been under it, he could have easily been injured, the wagon did not way much but she had acidently thrown it about forty feet in the air. Taken completely off guard with his apoligy for yelling, her defences melted when he called her beauiful, a light blush comming over her cheeks which Juka furtehr reddened, when he kissed her hand, in action Shana had never encounterd before. She forgot all about her nervouness unsure how to respond to such attentions. He seemed like a good person, though strange.
"H-hello" She said to juka as she recoverd have convinced the event with juka might have been a trick of her imagination. "At least it was not cutlery this time" she mentioned recalling a rather dangerous accident whare she had lost control and thrown a coupls dozen steak knifes into the wall across from her. "Yea things tend to fly when i lose concentration, Ima telakentic by the way" she tried to explaina s she felt the warmth in her cheeks finnaly flee the scene.
She recalled the one boy as shin now, from kasumi's party, now that she had a clsoe look and had calme dher nerves somwhat. Looking back to the wagon, she again wa shappy that she could not lift much heavier items, if she could she might endager more people then she ahd today. It wa shard in time slike this not to feel like a dnagor to everyone around her, still she did her best to maintain her poise.

Shana, Shana… Shin ran the name over in his mind like a spoon churning ice cream. Had he heard that name before, glanced over a file, or… a tinge of realization lit up his face. "Ah yes, you went to Kasumi's party didn't you? As a certain fluffy dog demon, if I remember right?" She was one of Kasumi's friends. Shin's hall monitor diction slackened. A friend of Kasumi's was a friend of his, and she sounded like she was genuinely sorry. It wasn't a blatant act of destruction. "Accidents do happen." He smiled politely. "I think she'll forgive this one..."
He took a step back from the situation as Shana and Jewel sorted it out. Shin turned to Juka and added "As for what you said earlier, you're free to visit the mansion whenever you'd like. We'd be happy to have one such as you grace us with your presence."
Juka curtsied deeply as Jewel introduced him to Shana, his skirts settling all around his feet as he did so. "Shana, my dear, what a beautiful name you have, a beautiful name for a beautiful woman." He almost purred the words. She was going the be a fun one, he was sure of it. Obviously she didn't appear to be used to his sort of attention and that was all the more reason to ensure that she got a lot of it. He always had had a soft spot for those that didn't feel comfortable fitting in.
"A telekinetic, how fascinating. My power, also, is based on a sort of telekinetic gift." He grinned dazzlingly, his teeth perfect and white. And, always one for as much attention as he could possibly get, opted for one more demonstration. Once more he manifested his reflective bubble, causing him to bob off the ground slightly, only this time he didn't move any higher into the air. Instead he floated a little closer to a nearby flower and commanded a reflective tendril to over to the flower he had spotted earlier. He bubbled the flower, lifting it out of the vase it was placed in and moved it in front of Shana, offering it to her as a gift. "I hope you like flowers, my dear."
"Why thank you, you wonderful man," Juka gushed to Tetsuya. "You know that I would simply love to see all of you again. Especially you," he turned back to Shana and winked at her.
