The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The mansion sure was big, it seemed there were new places everytime he decided to go walk around. This area was boring so far, typical meeting rooms and the like. Maybe it was time to just give up, it was a school after all, so what could it possibly have that David had never seen before. He was about to turn around when he noticed a large set of doors with a particularly interesting sign above it.
"Danger room?" He said as he stared at it. "What kind of name is that?" He thought, maybe they forgot a comma, Danger, Room. Then again that's just stupid, I mean who needs to be warned of a room. "Well geez how can I not look?" He said as he entered through the doors. The lights were all turned off, and David couldn't see a thing as he wandered further and further in.
The lights were off and Ghost had her hands on her friend Shin's shoulders. She'd never tested how long she could hold an ally in an incorporeal state. It was straining enough to just change them over. For Ghost, this was about stamina. For Shin, this was about seeing. Or not seeing.
Another part of this power that Ghost had never fully explored was the possibility of what limitations were imposed on her friend. Shin was going to help her by testing how far he could see and if he could use his power. When they were talking before, Shin had said that it would be a good test for him as well considering he typically relied on visual cues to help him form his shards. It was an interesting experiment on all accounts.
Ghost had changed them both into a gaseous state and to her, the darkness was gone. It was not dark or light, it was simply form or nothingness. The room was empty and now the floor was Shin's. She had touched his shoulders just in case he needed his hands to focus. "Alright, go ahead and try using your power if you are comfortable, I'm ready. Tell me what you can see... if anything."
She was focusing her energy mostly on maintaining the shared incorporeality, and didn't even see someone wandering in. Maybe if he stumbled too close she or even Shin might be able to 'see' him.

“I see… nothing.” Shin replied, quietly. His voice wavered slightly. In the dark of the room, he floated gaseous, retaining some semblance of humanoid form. He’d only done this twice before with Ghost, so of course his body wasn’t used to it yet. His feet felt like they were drifting off in one direction while his torso stayed stuck in place like glue, dancing.
Eyes scraping the darkness for some sense of reality beyond shades of black and blacker, his other senses seemed to sharpen. Shin sniffed the air. The faint scent of soil hung distantly, but he couldn’t place where. He flexed his empty fingers, looking towards the place they’d usually be clenching, and tried calling up a shard.
A shining red triangle of diamond wriggled up in the night, surface shifting out in ripples like a stone dropped into a tide pool. It was smaller than usual, but somehow it drew his focus.
“Hey, wow! I can see it! It’s like a red dancing tortilla chip!” Shin grinned at Ghost. His jaw shifted disconcertingly into a cheeky smirk. The room seemed lighter with it shining through.
As it spun on the tip of his gaseous finger, it sunk slightly. Shin’s brow crinkled, willing it back up in the air. Stay up, you. One spin caught the reflection of a rectangle of white light, and his head jerked to one side, following the reflection. The sound of feet walking on and on in darkness traveled to his ears, but no light reached. He turned his focus back to the ruby equilateral, narrowing his focus. Clip clop clip clop. Maybe it was only when he was looking at his focus…
By now, David could probably already hear the hushed voices, see the spinning chip of doom. Shin dropped his voice, looking over his shoulder at Ghost.
Farther and farther in, he could've sworn he heard whispering, but who would be sitting in a pitch black room? "This is creepy." He said searching through the black, "there must be a light switch somewhere." Instead of a light switch he saw something reflect the light from the closing door. It only lasted a second, before the door closed behind him, but he knew he saw something.
He squinted hard and started to walk in that direction, his hands held out in front of him, trying not to accidentally walk right into something. What the hell was so dangerous about this room? Other then the horrible lighting.
“Hey, wow! I can see it! It’s like a red dancing tortilla chip!” Ghost giggled at what Shin had said, but because they were both incorporeal their voices would appear to emanate from nowhere... or everywhere. "Red?" She asked incredulously. She could never see colors while insubstantial. If she cold see colors, she would be able to read or well, see much more than she actually could. "Are you sure you're not just imagining that it's red? I mean, it's pitch black in here anyway, remember? So you won't cheat accidentally?"
It was hard for Ghost to know what Shin's expressions were. To her perception, she could feel his shoulders underneath her hands, but that was just phantom feeling right? She was afraid to let go. She needed the touch to make this work, but... she wanted to know if that tactile feeling was real. Ghost slid her hand carefully across Shin's shoulder and up toward his neck. Strange. It was like he was really standing there... or was that her imagination too?
Ghost heard a quiet step a breath before Shin warned her. "I think there's someone else in the room..."
The air stirred slightly and Ghost tried to change her perception from focusing on keeping them both ghosted to 'seeing' what was around them. Yeah. There was definitely someone there. "Wanna scare them?" She had lowered her voice so hopefully Shin would be the only one to hear. It wasn't very often that Ghost's mischievous side came out so blatantly.
She shifted the air around them slightly so their voices would carry farther around the room. "Whooooo?" A breeze cycled around the room carrying Ghost's voice. She had to shut her mouth to stop from giggling and compose herself before trying again. "Whoooooo is there?" If this was Sam or Streak, neither would be scared but it was worth a shot.

Was she serious? He bit back a laugh, replying in a whisper. “Prank them, huh? Well okay! But I warn you, I’m good at scaring!” Raising his gaseous hand, he followed her course of action. As wind whipped voices around the room, he summoned up a bunch of glowing red triangles, arranging them like a Jack-O-Lantern’s face, complete with gnashing teeth. Her shift in focus seemed to free up a bit more of his control over his powers.
”Whooooooooo,” Ghost’s voice wailed through the air. "Whoooooo is there?" The triangle face matched the voice’s call, inching forward a meter ahead. It clacked its jaws menacingly. Chatter, chatter.
“By opening the door, you have freed my monstrous powers left trapped in this room for eons! Through the Aether I greet you! And now, I will EAT YOU!! That’s the way it is. I eat the breaker of the curse... yup.” Shin’s demonic voice boomed from the four corners of the room. His cheeks tweeked into an uncontrollable grin. He couldn’t help but find amusement in the situation.
Some more triangles pulsed up, forming into slashing clawed hands. Five triangles made each finger, clacking through the air like castanets. Mwuahahahah!
David's eyes widened and his head jerked around the black abyss. Was he hearing things, he could feel the wind, but this was an enclosed room. He heard some kind of ghoolish voice, moaning through the black. Now he saw the source, a creepy red face "You've got to be shittin me." He said staring at it. "umm I'm David?" He said confused, seemingly unable to move.
Now there was a curse?! who the hell doesn't mark those things on the door, sure it said danger room but put a sign up.
Warning: cursed room, do not enter or be eaten.
He stared into the eyes of the face, and then a pair of devilish hands appeared "Ahh" He yelled loudly as he turned to run, he went about five feet, not knowing where he was going, until suddenly he ran face first into something hard, probably a wall, but then again he still couldn't see!
"...I warn you, I’m good at scaring!” Ghost felt Shin move and he result was... well pretty scary. Shards forming a floating tortilla chip face moved in time to her lonely moans.
>>"You've got to be shittin me... umm I'm David?"
Shin's words were so much more convincing... especially with the clicking of the shards that sounded clearly through the darkened room.
“By opening the door, you have freed my monstrous powers left trapped in this room for eons! Through the Aether I greet you! And now, I will EAT YOU!! That’s the way it is. I eat the breaker of the curse... yup.” Ghost leaned her face against Shin's back to keep herself from giggling loud enough to ruin the effect. The wind picked up again whirling around to express Ghost's mostly suppressed laughter.
Maybe it was the claws. Maybe the wind. Maybe the whole paced, who knew? but it worked.
>>"Ahh!" He turned and ran... it wasn't twelve steps before he ran straight into the wall. Ghost let go of Shin with one hand to cover her mouth. It was too much. She completely lost control of their shared gaseous state. Just as suddenly as David had run into the wall, Shin was falling out of incorporeality and into the darkness.
"Gimmie a sec to find the lights." she whispered to Shin between fits of laughter.

Shin could hardly feel Ghost’s suppressed laughter against his back, but he could sense it in the wind. It wrapped around the room, wavering up and down like the Dow Jones average. Up and down, up and down. When she finally burst out laughing, he landed on his backside, chest heaving in the same up and down motion (with laughter). Shin wiped a tear from his eye, shaking his head with a grin.
“Oh, that was rich. You alright, David? I didn’t scare you, did I?” He rolled to his feet, looking towards where he’d heard the thud. Leaning forwards, Shin peered through the darkness like a navigator on the Crow’s nest.
"Gimmie a sec to find the lights." Ghost whispered to Shin between fits of laughter.
“Oh sure, sure.” He grinned, calling back his shards with a flick of the wrist. Good idea. Hopefully only David’s ego was bruised.
David just stayed on the ground staring straight up, his head spinning. If he could see stars through the darkness, he would. "ahh my head." He said slowly reaching his hand up and rubbing his head. He couldn't think straight, then everything in his mind fell back in place and he heard his name, and the laughter. "... what?" The throbbing in his head was starting to die down now.
Ghost breezed over to the interior control panel and focused on the buttons carefully before making her selection via a jet of pressurized air. The lights came on, or at least she hoped they did. "Hey, can you see yet, Shin?" Maybe that wasn't the right button, the Danger Room walls and floor were shifting as if some setting were being created. "Whoops! Sorry hold on!" She chose another button and an obnoxiously loud siren started wailing. It made her very molecules vibrate and she covered her insubstantial ears in vain. It was no use. She felt it all over, no amount of ear plugging could stop that.
"Graah! Computer, emergency stop!" She couldn't even hear her own voice over the din, but the siren stopped and the computer chirruped to acknowledge the command. Ghost continued to cringe, but a thought occurred to her then. "Oh! Computer, can you please turn on the lights?" Why didn't she think of that sooner? Another chirrup and the lights were really on this time. It didn't make any difference to her, the incorporeal state made it as plain as day. As long as there was air and mass, there was something to 'see,' light or not.
She shook her head to shake off the last remnants of the blaring sound. That was awful, but there was no point in complaining since it was her own fault. Ghost focused on their surroundings. The Danger Room had transformed into a quaint European-type rolling hillside complete with rustling grass, hillocks, boulders, flock of sheep, and windmill. Not bad except their Danger Room intruder, David as he had introduced himself to the jack-o-lantern, was still laying on the ground.
"Hi, David." A gust of wind came to push her toward the stunned man or boy... The air pressure around him increased slightly as she tried to discern his features. She was having trouble focusing after the noise and strain of sharing her gaseous talents so rather than make David wholly uncomfortable with aerial probes, she let off with the pressure.
A mostly see-through face appeared barely a foot over David's. Despite the adversities, she was still chipper. "I'm Ghost! Sorry you ran into the wall, are you okay now?"

“Nope,” Shin responded as Ghost pushed some buttons. “Aaaand, nope.” More buttons, pressed. “And nope. Turn that off.” He clamped his hands over his ears as the sirens wailed, twitching. He rushed around, holding his ears. “Make it stop, make it stop!!”
>>"Graah! Computer, emergency stop!" It stopped.
“Now why didn’t I think about that?” Shin flicked his ears, testing to see if he could still hear things. Nope. He glanced upwards as the lights came on. “Let there be light.” And around him spread a rolling countryside. It was like a certain special desktop background. He expected a giant Osaka head to snore in the distance. Shrugging, Shin walked past a sheep towards David. It looked up from its grass-chewing the bleat helpfully at them both.
“Yeah, yeah. I hear ya…” The Asian muttered, glaring at the sheep as he leaned over next to Ghost. He prodded David. “He’s not dead, is he?” No, he was still breathing. Well now, that made him feel guilty.
>>"I'm Ghost! Sorry you ran into the wall, are you okay now?" And she had it covered. He waited silently for the answer.
David was starting to come to when he was hit by a loud siren "Ughhh now what?!" He yelled as he put his hands over his ears and shut his eyes. The ear splitting noise kept on coming. He coul feel the room shaking, but didn't know what was going on. Finally the noise stopped and he took his hands off his ears, only to feel grass underneath him now.
"What?" He thought as he still lay on the ground, feeling around him. Now that that was finally over David just wished he could see, that way he could find the exit, his wish would be granted. The lights suddenly burst on above him "Ugh" he moaned as he shut his eyes again, they had just started to get used to the dark when the bright lights flicked on.
When he could feel the air around him changing, maybe he was outside now, wind and grass after all. When he did slowly open his eyed the first thing he would see was a semi clear face looking back at him "Eh?!" the noise escaped him before he came to his senses and heard her spoke. "Oh yeah, house full of mutants, forget sometimes." He muttered as he sat back up on the grass. He looked around in awe at what appeared to be some kind of grassy plain, he noticed Shin there staring at him as well. He looked at the two, obviously at a loss for words "What? Where? and How?" He asked.
"He's not dead, is he?" Ghost shook her head. She hoped they hadn't actually hurt him, though.
>>"Eh!?" Ghost would probably never get used to people being afraid of her. Maybe it was still fallout from the Jack-o-lantern face and not actual fear from her see-through-ness. >>"Oh yeah, house full of mutants, forget sometimes." Or it could be the whole ghost thing...
"We're all pretty different, I'll give you that." She tried to not take offense. And then he seemed to notice the sheep. Not even a concussion could explain that, if this was his first time in the Danger Room... which it apparently was.
>>"What? Where? and How?"
Ghost blinked and backed up so he didn't accidentally pass through her in his scrambling. She tried to answer his questions in line. "It looks to be a quaint little hill side in the Danger Room. I'm not really sure on the how, but you can change the settings to fit mission protocols and various training needs." She nodded quite pleased with her own answer. "I'm not sure how much is robotics and how much is illusion, but it all feels pretty real."
"It's nice to meet you...?" She offered, trying to keep things pleasant.

“Don’t worry about the how. The important thing is to find out if you’re alright. Do you feel okay? Need to see the doctor?” He bent down to squat next to David, resting his arms on his knees. The need to be the doting parent suddenly welled up within. Shin tilted his head. “Need a band aid?”
Shin frowned, looking around. Maybe this whole Danger Room scene was a little too disorienting. He dropped his voice. “Can we change the scenery, Ghost? That sheep is really starting to creep me out…” He'd been here before, in the God room. Maybe that sort of thing had to be done there... but... Back to David. He offered the boy his hand. “Here, I’ll help you up.”
