The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

David Finally caught up with Shin in the police office, it looked like Shin was already on the case. He silently listened to the conversation the group of officers were having. "It looks like whoever planted the bomb didn't just want pure destruction, otherwise he wouldn't have sent in a video." David thought as the group walked by. He was lost in thought about what the most effective place would be for a bomb when he was snapped out of his thoughts by some of the police. Apparently Shin had taken the order to leave and David didn't notice, now the officers were annoyed because David was still around. "Oh." He said to a large officer standing in front of him "I'll be leaving to.. this way right?" He said giving a nervous smile and backing away.
He rejoined the group outside and took a seat on the steps. "They mentioned a video, if we could get in and watch it that might help." He suggested while looking the building up and down, "But how are we supposed to get in there?"
People are weird. Even the Danger Room knew this to be true because once Ghost started looking, everyone looked suspicious!
There was the old man with the walker. He was walking too slowly and had lots of gadgets and tubes and knobs attached to his walker. Maybe that wasn't an oxygen tank, but a bomb tank!
There was the little girl and her mother sharing an ice cream cone. The mother looked alright, but the little girl's shoes lit up every time she took a step. Was that some kind of code or radio frequency sent out to arm and detonate a bomb?
There was the slimy italian-mob type. He was smoking a cigarette and tending a newspaper stand. No one read the newspaper anymore. It had to be a front for the bomb he was hiding.
Then there were a multitude of business people all striding somewhere very fast. Were they late returning from lunch or maybe they were escaping the scene? One munched a hotdog so her plastic explosives ended there. One talked on a cell phone, it could be cell phone detonated, right? Another still, read a newspaper! Was he in league with the Italian?
Countless other suspicious felon-type people got a hard look from Ghost, but none as measuring as the glare Ghost was giving the newspaper dealer when Shin came out from the Police station.
"No dice."
Ghost frowned and shrugged in response just as David came tumbling down the steps to rejoin the scooby squad. She hadn't really gotten much of a lead either.
"They mentioned a video, if we could get in and watch it that might help. But how are we supposed to get in there?"
"I could take one inside or even borrow the tape if we could find a way to see it, but do we have time to watch a video?"
Police came pouring out two by two and the mutant group had to step aside to avoid the sudden out-flow of officers.
"Looks like they know something at least." Ghost turned hopeful eyes to Shin and David. "Really? They didn't just spill their hearts deepest desires to you when you asked? Did you say Please?"

“I wish they’d spilled. Danger Room AI are apparently really dangerous…” Shin blinked, then stared at the passing officers, screwing up his eyes. They seemed real enough… The Danger Room actually made these from scratch? “Like some demented script writer…” He trailed off silently, then shook his head.
The video.
“Are you sure you didn’t catch anything else they said, David? Maybe we could try to tune into the frequency from one of their walkie-talkies… or… y’know, follow them.” His eyes shifted to the still-walking police officers as they approached their cars on the streets and got in.
It could have been a dead end, it could have been a different case… it could have been anything. But right now, it was down to two options.
“We either sneak in through a wall via intangibility and risk our necks to get that tape… or we follow them. I say—” Shin broke into a run, chasing after the cars as they sped down the street. He hailed a taxi and the vehicle jerked to a stop in front of him, nearly running him over.
“Follow that car!!” He called out, sliding into the back seat and making room for David and Ghost.
“You kidding me?” The middle-eastern cab driver stared back at him, scratching his beard.
“No sir. Once my friends get in, we follow.”
The cabbie shrugged with a laugh. “Your money~”
Shin glared intently at the cop cars, momentarily stopped by a red light a half-a-block ahead. He urged time to move faster and slower at the same time…
"Hmm maybe I could listen to their frequency?" David thought regarding what Shin said. He probably could do it, it was the same thing he did anyway, right? He also thought about what they could possibly do, and about the ever dwindling time.
God knows how long the video was, Apparently the Danger Room was dedicated to realism, and it could take awhile for the video to give the details they want, and the cops did mention three different locations. It looked like Shin had already made up his mind about what to do, David had to give it to him, Shin was a quick thinker, and definitely quick to act. David looked curiously to Ghost "Well the cops said there were three different possibilities, I suppose we could go with Shin, and while we follow them I will monitor the radios in case the police find anything. He said as he walked to the waiting cab and climbed in.
Shin took off running mid sentance and that left Ghost and David with their mouths hanging open. Okay, so maybe it was just Ghost. David trotted after her shard-wielding friend. They all hopped into the cab driven by the middle eastern man. Was the Danger Room so keen on stereotypes? If so... what did that mean for their culprit?
No sooner than the door had closed did than cab take off. Ghost rolled down the window and poked her head through enjoying the rush of wind that speed afforded. At first she was just enjoying the wind, but eventually she saw their police car turn a quick corner. The cab followed and had to almost immediately grind to a stop. Traffic was nuts.
It was so nuts that the police car was taking liberties in how they arrived at the scene. It took lots of honking on top of the typical siren and flashing lights for them to navigate safely onto the wide sidewalk.
"Hey! We gotta go!" Ghost popped her head back into the cab and tugged on David's sleeve. "They're getting away!" She opened the door and it bumped into the car next to them. They honked and the cabby asked for his money as Ghost slid out between the cars. She blinked once. Twice. Then ran! He was a hologram or robot or something! He didn't need money! If this were the real world she maybe would have given him something.
Luckily it didn't seem to be that far to where the police were headed. Ghost found the cruiser parked behind a newspaper stand that had been knocked over and barred the way. The uniforms were chasing someone on foot! All she could see was a bobbing afro.

“Um… BYE!!” Shin took off after Ghost, leaving the cabbie to stare expectantly at David with his hand stuck out. His form flickered slightly as his mouth stretched into a gap-toothed grin.
“Caaaaaash?”
~*~
Darting and weaving his way through traffic like a needle through a knitting pattern, Shin barreled around a corner. He nearly knocked down a fruit stand, snatching up an orange from it as he swept by.
“HEY!!” The female shopkeeper squealed, pushing orange hair out of her orange eyes. She turned to her husband, a cat-eyed mutant by her side. “That man just stole an orange!” The man scratched his blue-furred chin and laughed.
“At least he didn’t steal your heart.”
“…”
“…”
An orange hit the blue-furred man in the face. “Oof.”
“Serves you right.” She turned away with a ‘hmph’, eyes snapped shut and her arms crossed.
In the background, Shin ran on for great justice! And then he stopped running. It wasn’t that far. He stared at the overturned newspaper stand barring there way and the police chasing off the afro-man in the distance.
“Maybe…” He frowned, glancing at the building on their right and the ladder to the fire escape. He turned to call back to David, who he hoped was following them. “Hey David! We’re using the fire escape to get over this!!”
He dropped the hands that had been cupped around his mouth like a microphone, smiling at Ghost. “We’ll get this guy for sure. Just you wait.” And now he waited. For David.
~*~
The Afro man shot around a corner, pulling out a gun to fire at the police, and forcing them to dive for cover. He cursed into a Walkie talkie. “They found me! Those ************s found me! You’ll have to take the rest from here.” The line of communication went dead as he tossed the radio to the cement and ground it down with his feet to leave no evidence. His partner was on his own from here on out. They’d been tailing the wrong guy… and they didn’t even know.
David sat in the back of the cab, staring blankly forward, yes the two ran out in a hurry and David was too busy trying to hook into radio frequencies to notice. The cabby continued to wait for a reply from David "Hey you better not run off." He screamed at David, to no response. "Hey I'm talking to you! What are you sick or just dumb?" He asked, the frustration building. Again David was in his own little world.
"Hmm I think I got it." He thought to himself, he was picking up radio, but now he didn't know how to find the right frequency. He was quickly searching, or he thought he was, it was hard for him to tell, considering he has never done it before. He started to zero in, when he heard something.
“They found me! Those ************s found me! You’ll have to take the rest from here.”
"Those weren't cops" He thought, but his thoughts were ended abruptly when the cabby walked around to the passenger side, grabbed David, and threw him out of the cab. David looked around stunned, not wuite sure what had just happened, Shin and Ghost were gone.
"Hey I don't know what you're on but you better get your freeloading ass out of here, maybe go hook up with your other stupid friends." He said motioning to where the others ran off to.
"What? Aww cmon they were supposed to wake me." David said standing back up. "Sorry sir." He said and started running towards the commotion. He wasn't sure what he heard, or what was going on, but it was probably important, he knew he should tell the others, wherever they were. Thats when he saw them waiting for him, and started to sprint to catch up "Why didn't you wake me, Ghost!" He screamed.
Ghost sent a breeze forward to trip the bobbing afro-man in question so that the police would be able to catch up with him. The breeze then circled back to Ghost so that she and Shin, who had just caught up with her, so that they could hear what was being said. Would he spill to the nice police men?
“...found me! Those .... You’ll have... the rest....”
Ghost frowned. That didn't sound like a confession that stated clearly and concisely where the bomb was hidden...
“Hey David! We’re using the fire escape to get over this!!” Ghost put a hand on Shin's shoulder urging him to wait just a moment longer. The stream of air was more consistent now, perhaps they'd be able to heard something more than the perpetrator's Miranda Rights.
"Why didn't you wake me, Ghost!"
She turned momentarily distracted. "Wake you?" She hardly understood what his power did and had never seen it in action before. How was she supposed to know that she was supposed to 'wake him'?
"How in the world did you doze off so fast? I thought you were looking for a radio tuner on the internet so you could find the police scanner?"
How long had it been? Even if this was their man, would he spill? How long would it take? Ghost was starting to get nervous. The Scooby Squad wasn't doing so hot. The bomb could still be anywhere! Their only lead was being cuffed as they stood around bamboozled.

“Wake you? O-oh right. It must take a lot of concentration to focus on reading radio signals. Well, find anything useful out?” Shin’s eyes trailed to the fire escape’s ladder with a sense of urgency. His eyes found their way back to Ghost. Would they glean anything useful from her hearing trick either? A few more shots rang out in the background, then silence prevailed. A cold breeze swept through the alley, making tiny hairs on Shin’s neck stand on end. Three shapes plodded their way around a corner, blurred at first, but slowly coming into focus as they drew nearer: hail the conquering heroes. Two police officers led the afro man between them, hands on his shoulders, with cuffs on his hands. Sammy L.’s lookalike’s head was bowed in shame.
“I… is that the guy?” Shin blinked as the officers passed him. They shoved their perp into the back seat without answering him, got in, and drove off. “… Try and read the signal on their radio.” Shin spoke under his breath to David. They might tell them something useful…
Officer Sue Perkins, one identity in many for the randomly generated faces the danger room held in its data banks, lifted the police radio to her face. “This is Squad car 219,” she muttered, voice gray as a rainy Saturday morning. “We’ve apprehended the perp, but he won’t talk. We found a crushed walkie talkie at his feet near where he fell. We’ve reason to believe he was not working alone. Any other leads on the case?” The radio beeped, switching from send to receive. A voice on the other end spoke, quick and fast.
“Bad news. Our two prime locations were dead ends. Return to base.”
“Roger.” The radio slipped back into place. Sue shook her head. It wasn’t looking good for the danger room today at all. Her partner, on the other hand, let a sly grin slip over his face. In her sunken saddened mood, she didn’t catch it. The ear piece on the side of his head vibrated slightly, relaying a message on a separate frequency.
~*~
In a darkened room on the third floor of a red brick building across the street from the police headquarters, a mysterious figure spoke. He stroked his copper beard, running his fingers through its steel woolen texture and plotting his next move.
“Sign out early for the day, Marlow. You’ve earned it.” His voice was soft, soothing, like the voice of David Caradine. The officer on the other end of the line gave an imperceptible nod. Caradine continued. “In fact, I think you’re in for an extended holiday after today. Be sure to grab everything of importance before your vacation.”
All was running smoothly. The bearded figure moved to his window, slipping two fingers in-between the blinds to spread them open a crack. He glanced up, towards the rooftop of the police station, all the way to its water tower. This would be the swansong for the mad bomber with the afro. It’d be the station’s last call. Disconcerting laughter slipped through the darkness as a match flicked into flame. A puff of smoke drifted off the tip of a victory cigar.
“The only thing that can stop us now is God himself. The police station is history.”
God, himself. An odd pronouncement from a criminal. Or maybe all it took was a listening ear tuning to the wrong frequency. Untrained, and searching, mind stricken with a tinge of panic. Some dial mentally turned in haste.
Be it a rock, or a grain of sand; in water they sink the same. The only difference is the ripple each creates as it falls.
((OOC: Quote about the grain of sand lovingly taken from Old Boy: www.imdb.com/title/tt0364569/quotes Credit for awesome goes where credit is due.))
David stood next to the two and watched the events unfold. "Well when I search like that I don't really notice what's going on around me but i'm getting better." He told Ghost while watching the police put the man in the car.
"Oh yeah when they got the guy I think he radioed a message before arrest, telling someone else to enact the plan, so it looks like he had an accomplice." David watched the police clean up the scene, sectioning the crime scene off. David was caught up in the moment when Shin told him to check the scanners. "Hmm? Oh yeah! It'll take a sec though, last time I got a fluke, I think I've started to get the hang of it. the radios work similar to how I use the internet, but instead of going to satellites they are local frequencies, and I need to pinpoint the correct signal. With so much use I have to make sure I don't grab the wrong one, and I can't tell very easily." David looked over to the two and realized he was rambling about stuff they probably didn't care about. "Sorry, I'll start."
His mind of quickly searching for possible candidates. He was picking up frequencies from all over, not only radios. He found a local signal broadcasting right in the area, that had to be the police radio.
"...that can stop us now is God himself. The police station is history.”
David was shocked and snapped right back to reality. "They're going to bomb the police station, we need to get back there." David told them in a panic.
"Eeeeeeeeh!?" It was the typical Japanese school girl response and, honestly she hadn't been in a frustrating enough situation to let that one slip in a long while. "We just came from there! You mean it was there the whole time!" Ghost let the breeze drop, the afro-man lead was apparently a dead end or distraction. Whoever designed this particular simulation deserved a good flick of the nose. Ghost fully intended to look it up and carry out that mental threat... if she remembered.
She scratched her head and looked back the way they came. This was a one way street and traffic was getting gnarly. Even if they found a cab, it might be faster to run... or ghost. She looked between Shin and David. "I don't know if we're gonna make it..." She could go ahead... scout for the bomb... but she really, really didn't want to go alone. She also wasn't sure she could take anyone with her. It might take too long and she was getting tired. She'd already had Shin incorporeal for a while, summoned a steady stream...
"...maybe it's better if I scout." If she was blown to smithereens... it'd be only her at least. She breathed in a quick breath flashing into incorporeality as she always did. "You guys better find a way to get there quick. I'd rather not die today." Because at level 3, it shouldn't kill a "normal" person. But Ghost wasn't normal when it came to fire.
She whooshed away on a broad wind that tasted like stale metal. Some things the Danger Room just couldn't imitate. "I'll be on the look out for the bomb... and for you two..." Her voice came back with a gentle caress of air.

((Err, right. Forgot it was my turn to post...))
>>"You guys better find a way to get there quick. I'd rather not die today." Ghost drifted off.
"Err, running. Running's good, right David? Right. Running." And so they ran. Like the wind. Which was quite unlike Ghost's breezing off like the wind in that they actually had to pound pavement to do so. Sure, it was an outdated method, and tiring like any other physical exertion, but they made it. Huffing and puffing. Speaking in disjointed sentences too.
"Made it. Bomb is. Where?" Shin sputtered, doubled over and heaving like a dying water buffalo. His eyes trailed skywards to the top of the police station. "Roof?" Roof. "Cmon David, let's see if we can get inside..."
Walking to the entrance, Shin smiled at the officers like a dope. "Um. So hey." One of them turned to glare at him, and his waving hand dropped slightly. They were giving him the cold shoulder. Right then. So, you guys have a bomb on your roof. Just thought I'd warn you. No, that didn't seem like a statement that would have perfect results in the real world. Telling them that would only get them thrown behind bars or questioned as to how they'd come to that conclusion once everything was said and done... which was fine in a Danger Room scenario, since once the bomb had been defused, they'd have won, but in real world standings... being put in jail isn't the greatest trill of victory.
"Right, never mind then." Shin walked back out and looked at David. "You wouldn't happen to be able to hack into one of their cellphones and send them an anonymous text message stating the bomb was on the roof of the police station, would you? Or anywhere else on the police station? They usually put things on the roof. Better yet, could you hack into all of their cellphones to drop the message?" Now Shin was just grasping at straws. "Ah, to hell with it. You do that, I'm gonna bust past the guards. Maybe they won't jail me. Good LUCK!!"
And with that, he vanished back into the building, bursting past the guards. Police officers turned their heads, and three gave chase. What the hell? They wondered.
What the hell, indeed.
Footsteps trailing up the stairs to the roof, Shin broke out the rooftop door. He turned to bring up few rectangular barriers to hold the door in place, then turned to the matter at hand; searching.
"Ghost? If you're around, could you help me search? I'm thinking it's either in a closet or a stairwell or the rooftop or the water tower... heck, that's really a lot of places to search. Unless they had someone to help set them up from the inside, I'm thinking the water tower'd be the likeliest location. Just drop down and set it up, then fly off. What do you think?"
Shin looked around for a sign of her. Or was he talking to air again?
David Took off with Shin, running through the streets and traffic. David wasn't the fastest person around, but he was pretty good at long distance, and with the adrenaline flowing he didn't feel tired at all. though the pedestrians were not too happy, with the sidewalks packed as they were they had to push through the people.
Finally the two of them reached the station and David was catching his breath, "Roof?" He asked as Shin ran up the steps. David just gave him an odd look, not sure what Shin was trying to accomplish by talking to the cops. And just as David thought, the attempt was futile. Shin came walking back out, looking desperate, though the desperation was most obvious as he seemed to grasp at straws and figure out a solution.
"No, I can't do any of that, and I don't think if I could it would work." David said, but before he could give an idea of his own Shin's mind was made up, he was goign to rush through the police. "Shin wait..." But it was too late, Shin was already gone. David started looking around, trying to think of a new way to the top, and that's when he realized the buildings were offly close together. David turned and ran into one of the neighboring buildings. He ran straight to the stairwell and started sprinting as fast as he could.
Once he burst through the roof door he peeked over the edge, it was a long way down. The building was about one story taller then the police station, and the jump was definitely difficult. "Oh cmon David, you got this." He told himself as he watched Shin looking around. "Time's running out." David thought as he walked to the other end of the roof. He got into a running position and took a few breathes. The next moment he was sprinting across the roof, and took the biggest jump of his life. As he reached the police station he prepared for the impact, crouching and rolling as he hit the roof.
Except David never hit the rooftop. "What are you crazy?" The air curled around David's ready-to-roll form. She had slowed him and caught him in a maneuver that left David mere inches from impact on the roof. Ghost let him down after a slight hesitation.
"Shin, David, I need your eyes. I have found some things that seem out of place to me, but I can't tell what they are: bomb or something mundane. I don't think going solid will help you two too much so I'll start pointing out what I've found." Hopefully that pounding at the rooftop door was mundane and the police behind it weren't trapped or too super angry at Shin for... whatever he did to get up here.
Ghost went to the first of many suspicious items. A lumpy metal box with a lever attached to the side of a larger metallic box. The larger of the boxes hummed and tried to suck Ghost in so that was probably an air conditioning unit. "Here."
She drifted toward another box, this one strangely oblong with something dangling. It also had long cylindrical tubes attached to it and the wall which probably meant it had been there a while, but she still wasn't sure. This was attached to the side of the stairwell eerily close to the loud men contained inside. She really hoped it wasn't this one. "Here."
The last box Ghost could not understand was attached to the water tower. It was held on to the ladder by wires, that alone made her suspicious. The object was a rectangle about the size of a shoebox and had virtually no discernible features other than a lid that hinged on and clasped shut with what Ghost could only guess was some sort of latch. There was a hole at the top left corner and inside the box, Ghost could feel wires and some things that felt like LEDs? She really couldn't be sure. But if it was blinking, Shin and David would be able to know. "And here. What do you think? They're all power converters or something? Oh darn, let's call it a day and go have dinner."

Shin spun as David fell to the roof and was consequently saved. “You alright?” He rushed to David’s side, offering him a hand up off the ground. He looked to the sky as Ghost started listing possibilites. First was the air conditioning unit. That probably wasn’t it. “David, wanna check that one out for me?” Second was the box on the side of the stairwell. He could hear the men knocking against the door on the other side and gulped. “I don’t think the second one’s it.” And the third possibility, which seemed most promising, was on the water tower. He tilted his head, running over to look up at it. His fingers wrapped around the side of the ladder as he climbed up to give it closer examination. “Ding ding ding. Third time’s the charm. I think this one’s it!”
Just like he’d guessed. Heh. Good thing danger room programmers were predictable. He reached towards the lid of the box and stopped, hand hovering over the lid in hesitation.
“Um… anyone know how to deactivate a bomb?” In hindsight, this was a problem. “Maybe David could google bomb defusing 101. Hey David, take a look at this and see what you can do.” Shin climbed back down and motioned towards the ladder, brow furrowed towards the door. “Unless…” He walked over to the stairwell and knocked three times. A knock came back, followed by a swear word.
“Let us out!!”
“We’ll get you, terrorist!”
“Anyone know how to defuse a bomb?” He quested, leaning with his back to the wall.
“The bomb squad’s all out on duty, and why would you want to defuse it? Wait, are you saying there’s a bomb here!?!??” A dumb officer with a bit too much hot in his head exclaimed.
“Well, yeah! Haven’t you been listening to the narrator speaking in the background? Can you call them back?”
“Let us out and you’ll see what we can do!!!”
“… David, I really hope you can defuse it. Really, I do.” Shin frowned, slumping against the stairwell hopelessly and bowing his head.
