The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It had been a rough week, to say the least. Someone had attempted to murder her by fire, she'd somehow miraculously survived without a scratch on her (save for the loss of her hair) and she was all but backed into a corner when it came to temporarily move somewhere safe while an active investigation was ongoing.
She was sad that it bit into her time alone with her boyfriend but tried actively to push past that and look at the bright side of things. Like, for example, was she unable to die now? How? Why? Or, had her natural healing ability just grown to a ridiculous degree? Part of her wanted to experiment and figure it out, a small part, but the rest of her was still thankful rational, and not willing to let her use herself as a lab rat for answers. Instead, she chose to focus on what this new knowledge meant for those outside of herself. How could she use this new ability for the betterment of people? She had noticed that her ability to heal people had grown, she just hadn't assumed that it would have translated to herself to any degree.
"Thank you!"
She waved a gloved hand at the car that had driven her here, as it headed off. She had a few boxes of belongings- not much, really. She planned on only spending a few weeks maximum at the school until the investigation had time to really look into things. So, a few books, some clothes, a favorite blanket, and toiletries... she had the basics.
Well, that and at least half of her regular medical supplies. If she was going to be here for a few days while off work, she was at least going to be productive! It had been a long while since she had talked to the good Doctor of the school and now that she had a new mysterious ability to unlock she was absolutely not going to waste any time. She'd offer her services immediately in the infirmary.
But, first, she had to get her belongings inside and into her new room.
"Okay, Gordon... you can do this. You have some muscle, after all! It's just a game of balance!"
She bent at the knees, stacked her boxes, secured her grip, and lifted-
"Oop- Just-- Ah!"
The small tower immediately bent and five medium-sized cardboard boxes crashed down in a pile on her.
It was little a little known fact that, while youths could not act as mansions greeters, or take on many of the other adult responsibilities of the mansion, there were some things Minors could do to help around the school! For example, if you actively searched for in-school community service you could find an old list for moving-in volunteers!
What a shame, though, it was all empty. Not anymore, though! A chance to help people who otherwise wouldn't have any help? His name was immediately scrawled on the top of the list! And behold, not even a week later, he was called upon to help out! A somewhat bewhildered staff member had called him to make sure he'd signed up for what he thought he had. Yup! Faster than he had any business being out the door he was sprinting down the street toward the mansion.
He'd foregone his normal super hero vestiments in favor of a white T-shirt and jeans. After all, he didn't want to overwhelm who every the new student was by showing up decked out in tights!
As he neared, he caught the sight of someone already struggling with some boxes. Uh oh, they were looking a little wobbly, there. This looked like a job for one in a- wait, no just Xavier!
"Ope!" He spoke as he rocketed into place, his long wingspan swooping in and scooping up the falling boxes with relative ease and stopping them mid fall over the little lady. "Yikes! That was close! Are you okay?" He looked down over his arm full of boxes at the woman, and blinked a few times.
"Oh... hey... You're...Elke's friend! I'm here to help!"
Her eyes closed reflexively seeing as she was fully expecting to get hit in the face with a box full of clothes turned her head and waited, but as luck would have it a guardian angel seemed to be close by and saved her from a rather embarrassing fall. The Greek blinked a few times once she noticed that her small tower of boxes had been stopped and the followed the long, large set of arms securing them up and backwards to where the person who they belonged to stood.
"Oh!" It came out a little light and airy, as she hadn't been expecting to run into anyone yet, but a thankful smile graced her face nonetheless. "Thank you! I am fine, thanks to your miraculous appearance!" Not, erm, like it would or could have hurt her all that much anyway. It was still very unpleasant, though!
The tall boy caught her by surprise yet again when he blurted out that she was friends with Elke, of which she only knew one person by such a name. The Greek juggled the only box in her hands she was really left holding and shifted herself out from being trapped between the kindly stranger and her belongings.
"Well, I suppose we are on friendly terms... most of the time." She muttered the last part quietly, more to herself than to him. Elke was... erm... hard to get along with, even on good days. Andrea's upbeat, peppy attitude and admittedly irritating kindness made it hard for her to really consider them friends, even if the Greek really wished it were so.
Once she had her box tucked securely at her side she offered a slightly wider smile (a little bit of tooth, even!) and held one of her gloved hands out toward him in greeting. "I am Andrea. Elke and I were- er, are family to a degree. Though, she might be inclined to argue. With whom do I have the pleasure of speaking?"
It was around that time as she lifted her gaze to meet his, already pondering what color his eyes were before she'd even seen them fully, she became aware to the breezy, airy feeling of wind gently blowing past on her lashes.
"Oh..."
She hadn't at all noticed that her glasses had fallen off when she turned her head, expecting cardboard to the face.
"...Bother."
Her first day back at the school and she was already back in the habit of unintentionally knocking people out she'd barely met. Ugh. Saph would probably have a good hearty laugh right now if he could see.
He smiled pleasantly as the little greek thanked him. "You're welcome!" He said, his wide smile reaching out to her in a wave of kindness that silently radiated warmth like a golden sun high in the sky above her.
"Heh, I guess that's the most anyone can ask for, really. You know, though, once you start to understand her, she's actually really thoughtful... I think?"
He looked down at the little green woman, slowly aiming to adjust the awkwardly placed boxes in order to stop from having to hold them together solely via tension. The boxes weren't particularly heavy, but holding them like that would get tiring if he kept it up!
She looked up, and he stopped adjusting. There, as she locked eyes with him, his sunny smile silently radiated, blank behind the eyes.
16 minutes passed by agonizingly slowly. She'd barely met the boy and already her first impression given to him was... just lovely.
After checking her watch for the umpteenth time, she plopped her chin back down into her hands and pouted. She had tried to make him more comfortable, at least, while she waited. She'd removed the boxes from his arms and tried to adjust them into what looked like a more comfortable position while he was out of it. She'd also closed his eyes so they wouldn't dry out and get itchy. Closing his mouth had been a quickly disposed of an idea seeing as she wasn't comfortable poking around a stranger's lips without even knowing his name.
After stacking the boxes on the ground she settled herself down on the most sturdy box and got comfortable. The wait was different for each person unlucky enough to look her in the eye.
Finally, she started to see signs of him coming out of it. Usually, it was blinking first, but sometimes she'd had people twitch, and a few times she'd had them just plain fall over from the shock of suddenly 'waking' back up.
... Considering this one's size, she really hoped the last one wasn't the case. She didn't hold any illusions that she could catch him if he fell.
"Please, try not to panic." The Greek stood slowly and held her hands out as a show of peace. "I inadvertently affected you with a part of my mutation. You might be a bit disoriented, but you are alright." She tried to be there within arms reach to help steady him if he needed it, but out of squish zone if he pitched forward suddenly.
16 minutes went in a blink for Xavier. 16 minutes he could have spent helping people, training his body, or just generally being friendly to anyone and everyone, like the little labrador retriever he was at heart. Instead, he spent it staring into space. At the end of that 15 minutes, he blinked, and looked down at himself quizically for a moment, before looking over to her.
There was no collapse, no catching of his balance or stumbling, only a wide eyed look of awe on his face as she explained and seeked to calm him. "You did that to me?" He blinked again, and then leaned in.
"THAT IS SO COOL! How long was I out?" He looked at his Blue Torch themed wristwatch and smiled. "15 or so minutes?! OH WOW! Think of what you could do with that! What exactly happened? I was still standing, right? So... Catatonic? You moved the boxes... Moved me a bit too..."
He looked over to her. "Gosh, that's neat! Have you thought about being a super hero? I mean, you're already a saint, so it's not a huge stretch, right?" His eyes suddenly widened.
"Oh! I, um, sorry. I'm Xavier! Sorry, I just got so excited I forgot to introduce myself." He leaned down to start gathering up the boxes that had been holding before. "I'm feel fine, I promise. I'm here to help! Sorry if I slowed things down for you!" With them all gathered up again, he turned to her once more, and nodded. "Where to?"
Well, that was certainly a rare reaction! He spewed a slew of questions at her faster than she could answer and she found herself just kinda fumbling for her box-turned-chair and blushing like mad.
"Yes, catatonic, er, well mostly. Occasionally people seem to have a varied reaction to it..."
Superhero!? Lord, she couldn't even fathom that! Her running around the city thwarting bad guys like an X-man? She hadn't even been able to keep Zaid or herself safe when they had been attacked, let alone keep a city safe.
Golly, though, he sure was exuberant, wasn't he?
"Though I do appreciate the compliment, I am neither worthy of sainthood nor superhero status, I am afraid." She chuckled at the young man, newly named Xavier, and smiled warmly. "It is of no worry. I might as well formally introduce myself as well, even if you already seem to know a bit about me. I am Andrea. I am very pleased to meet you, Xavier."
He corraled her other boxes with no issue, and she turned and headed back on the path to her temporary quarters.
"I'll be staying in one of the guest rooms this time around it seems. Though, it is not too far from where I used to live before. The second floor, to the right, down the hall, and the fifth door on the left." Ah, sweet memories. Being a young woman with new friends and really experiancing life for the first time. Before everything took a turn in a more complicated direction, that is.
"Do you like going to school here? Are you here for general studies, or-" She peeked at his themed watch, "-as I am being led to assume, for the heroics courses instead?"
It sure was lovely stopping in and getting to see all of the fresh young faces in various stages of learning, recovery, and growth.
"That's fascinating! I imagine it's pretty disorienting. It was like no time at all passed for me... But everything had changed. I just saw your eyes, and boom! There I was!" He acted it out with his body, before standing stiff, and then chuckling as he rubbed the back of his head.
He smiled a bit as she politely dismissed the possibility of becoming a super hero, or a saint. "Hi Andrea! Nice to meet you, too!"
As they approached the mansion he was sure to step forward and get the door for her, even though he was inundated with boxes. Neatly he pivoted to the side, twisted the handle with his elbow and gently footed the door open, showing a startling sense of coordination as he completed the odd dexterous task with ease. placing his foot aganist the door to allow her in.
"Lead the way!" He blinked a few times as she mentioned where she lived before... she lived her? It made sense, he supposed. A lot of mutants ended up here in those days. "I love it here! It's amazing all around; I have a year left of Highschool, so I am here for general studies, but I am also planning on joining the team as well! I'm already a trainee!"
He followed her toward her temporary dorm, blinking a few times as he recalled something he'd read about earlier. "Oh... Are you staying here because of the... attacks? Was that you?" A lot of the details hadn't quite come out yet, but she definitely looked different... for one, her hair was missing, even though the snakes remained. It made sense, if she had a healing ability, and she was affected by fire.
Wow... For her to be walking around normally after something like that. How many abilities did she have?
She smiled, "I have heard that. People certainly react differently to it, but mostly it is a bit disorienting. I did have a friend once who favored it because it could help him "sleep" in a sense. Insomnia." She often found herself wondering about Matt... it had been such a long while since she had last seen him, and in all her work with the homeless community she hadn't ever glimpsed him once. She could only hope and pray that meant that he was alive and doing well somewhere out there. "Thank you." The Greek was pleased with how kind he seemed right off the bat. Dealing with people intense, difficult situations all-day made her appreciated kindness so much more when she found it.
She listened quietly as he explained about himself and found it quite endearing, really. Not even out of high school yet and already an x-man hopeful? "That is so wonderful! I am glad you enjoy it here. It is really such a great place for such a wide variety of people. I hope to see what it is that you can do while I am here. I have always so enjoyed seeing all of the different powers that the kids these days have."
As they continued along the way to her temporary quarters, she was both surprised and not surprised that he knew about the attacks. It made sense seeing as he was actively a trainee, but still just didn't yet feel real enough for her to not be surprised when other people brought it up around her.
"It was, unfortunately. It was thought that living here temporarily might make me a bit less of a target while the investigation is ongoing, in case there is another attempt on me I suppose." She shrugged, unsure what else to say about it. She couldn't remember much other than the sensation of her body physically shifting back to human, and the lingering echoes of a pain that still didn't quite register. It was there, she knew she has left it and that it had been terrible, but the response her body had after waking from the trauma left it covered in thick fog. Which she was ever so thankful for, for sure.
I shall be here for a few weeks, or longer if necessary, until the detectives are satisfied that it is safe for me to return home, and to work." She huffed just a bit at that, reminded suddenly that she was set to be terribly bored during the duration of her stay.
"I fear that the good Doctor is going to grow rather sick of me quickly, as I will always be in his hair with nothing to do."
He Smiled widely as she mentioned seeing people's powers. "I love it, too! I am a newer mutant, so relating to people with mutations is new to me, but I've always been fascinated with the abilities people end up with."
He nodded sympathetically as she talked aboutwhy she was living here. "Well, I agree... You'll be safe here. Plenty of powerful protectors of this place, even if some of them are a little grumpy." It was fairly obvious who he was referring to. He paused for a second as something Elke had mentioned popped into his head. She knew her because she had... been married to... the Masochist. He looked back to her for a second, and quickly looked away...
No way... She was so... nice. How could she like a disgruntled vagrant like that?
He snapped out of the somewhat rude thought, feeling guilty for it. "I dunno... I have a feeling Doc Prof might relish in having someone to help out, if that's what you're planning. Poor guy is definitely overworked with this generation of students. I guess we tend to get into a bit of trouble... heh... Then again, no one has sent me to him more than Elke has." He chuckled at that, as if it was somehow funny, and not concerning.
She smiled a bit wider and flashed a few teeth on accident. "It is such a rainbow of powers, no?"
Sighing, she pulled her box up a little higher and once again marveled at how easily he was carrying the rest of her things. "I will admit, I am less worried about myself and more worried about putting an excess burden on those trying to crack the case, as it were. If I were selfish I would be at home and back to work as of a few days ago." She recalled, vividly, one of the other nurses chastising her for sharing such a view and being told to, quote, 'Just take a damn vacation'.
It had been very embarrassing and very reaffirming at the same time. It was best if she just hid in the weeds for a bit until things calmed back down. Erik would probably appreciate not having to worry about who was plotting to try and murder her next if she was tucked away behind some of the most powerful people in the city.
... It didn't help to mitigate how much she missed him, though. Even if he was freely able to visit whenever he wanted to.
She didn't realize she'd started full-on pouting until she snapped out of her own thoughts, and promptly drew her lower lip back in. "Regardless of how grumpy one, er, some of them might be, I do very much appreciate being able to come home again. This was the first place I lived after migrating here from Greece. I know the library practically by heart!"
Chuckling, she glanced up at him and pushed her slipping glasses back up with her shoulder.
"He might be. I can ask an absurd amount of questions, however, so only time will tell." She paused, more words pressing on the inside of her teeth, and mulled over her thoughts for a moment.
"...I have been meaning to stop by and pester him for advice on more recent power developments of mine. How best to try and use them and such, especially after the recent attack."
"That's a good way to put it!" He nodded enthusiastically as he pivoted down a hallway, raising an eyebrow as she talked about being a burden. "Huh... I feel like you do enough good to have earned a few people working overtime. Besides, I'm sure they want who ever did this off the streets just and much as you do!"
His head tilted to the side a bit as he noticed her outright pouting. He was distracted, though as she mentioened how this was actually home to her. Also, she all but admitted she knew exactly who he was referring to. "Oh...Why'd you leave?" That innocent expression popped onto his face as he asked the question thinking there was some simple answer to it.
"Oh, and what's greece like?! I've always wanted to go to Europe... Not to stay, mind you. There's so much good I can do here." The boy's eyes wandered up as he was lost in whistful thoughts of all the ways he could help this city.
"He seemed nice to me... Patched me up when Elke stabbed me in the kidney! I turned my back on her. Silly me!" There was no sarcasm. He said that straight faced and as if it wasn't completely concerning. "Won't be making that mistake again, that's for sure."
The Greek laughed cheerfully. She really couldn't argue with him on that. "I suppose I can concede to that point."
His next question was... well, a bit of a doozy. But, she'd had many years to think on it and had it boiled down to a semisimple answer. Luckily for him. "Well, I needed to grow up, I suppose. So I left the nest to make it on my own." Her expression might have been a bit whistful there, but nothing more. She wore the same smile and didn't dwell on the past.
"It's wonderful. Truly!" It tickled her more than she liked to admit when people pegged her accent correctly. It didn't happen very often! "If you ever get the chance, do go! So much history there at your fingertips. I can, and will, write up a list of all the best places to go for sightseeing and food if you are ever in need of such a thing."
You now, honestly she would have been mortified at the idea of Elke stabbing someone a few years ago... but, after Saph officially adopted her and Andrea got to spend some time with the troubled young soul it was about as surprising to hear as 'the sky is blue' or 'leaves are green'.
"Oh, goodness yes. Never turn your back on that wild child." The Greek shuddered, clearly reflecting back on less than fond memories. "I made that mistake many times. I once had to be fished out of the lake at Central Park after she pushed me in!"
She could still hear a much younger Elke cackling at her from dry land. 'Gonna have to learn how to swim sometime, ya prude!'
"Whatever the case, I am glad you seem to be alright after ending up on her badside. If you ever need healing and I am close by, do let me know! I am not as, uhm... plesant when it comes to my abilities as the good doctor is, but I can patch you up in a jiffy is needed."
Her laugh was met by warmth as she, at least verbally, accepted that it was okay for people to work hard for her sake. He listened with some surprise at her candid answer to his question about why she left? He felt a little guilty for asking adter the fact, honestly, but it had just sorta made its way out of his mouth.
"I guess that makes sense. I'm sort of out here for that reason, I guess. I couldn't grow back home... Being here sort of puts that into perspective." He looked a little saddened for only a moment before brightening up again. He did miss his dad, but at least he wasn't as lonely anymore. His father had actually found someone while he was away. It made him wonder if maybe his father had needed him to leave to grow as well.
"I would love that! I have seen a lot already, but there is so much to do here, it's honestly endless!" He grinned as they approached their destination, finding creative ways to open the doors for her along the way.
"I dunno... She seems to have calmed down a bit as an adult... And I guess if I really was on her badside, she would gave used the bigger knife, but she liked me? Anyway, I figure I'll take you up on that offer at some point! Being a hero is dangerous work! I get beat up all the time!" Well, not really. He was good at getting out of things fairly unscathed for the most part.
She listened. Smiled where necessary and offered an encouraging nod here and there to keep him going. Before she knew it they were at the door to her temporary quarters and he helpfully opened that door as well. He'd opened all the doors, actually. He was a surprisingly helpful youth!
She did pause just briefly before heading into her room and her gaze refocused on the boy. He spoke about Elke as if they were very familiar with each other... Would have used the bigger knife, but she liked him? Hmm. The corners of her lips quirked in a different little smile.
"So how long have you two been dating?" She posed the question innocently, trying not to let too much humor leak into her words. She would definitely have to try and get in touch with the chaotic young woman and get her side of things. She gave him some time to answer her while she headed in to set her singular box down and stare at the familiar style bed she used to sleep on.
