The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Mae felt a little odd going out for the night, but Seven got a last minute job, and she was feeling a little restless. They had a number of beers in the fridge, but nothing Mae would drink, and that meant venturing out to a bar for something decent. Bundling up in more conservative attire, she had a pair of comfortable jeans, a loose T, and hair pulled back into a high pony-tail. She was hoping the appearance would keep unwanted attention away, especially after her last fiasco getting a drink. Her back still stung at the memory.
This time, she had a phone, she had Seven's number programmed in and the promise help would come swiftly if something went amiss. Mae felt she could handle herself, but it also felt nice to have someone around that cared.
The bar she chose was a calm one. It tended to be less frequented because the drink prices were higher, but it was secure, and you got what you paid for. Going to a cheap place got her a busted lip. This seemed like the better option.
Pulling up a chair, Mae ordered Amaretto and Coke, and glanced up at the nearest TV. Her powers were tethered to her neck, a tiny shimmer like a necklace resting near her collarbone. She forgot how odd it was having electronics around her.
When the drink came back, she smiled and took a sip, and momentarily considered the menu to see if she wanted to eat here too. She felt calm. A lot of people who went out like this would be around because they had something to work through. Anxiety, frustration, depression. Or they were just looking for fun. Mae almost laughed to herself. How many people went out because they had nothing else to do? Hopefully Seven wouldn't be out late, and then she could just go home.

Man, it became really hard to find nice quiet spots in the city sometimes. Emily had a long week, she was busy, Skye was busy. Everywhere she went around her university people were stressing out about assignments she’d already finished drafts for and was waiting on feedback for. She was so done being around stressed out people for the week.
She was looking forwards to getting back to the mansion at the end of the night, and the possibility of just crawling into bed with her girlfriend and hiding from life for a bit. Alas, that was a few hours off. And she didn’t really feel like going into the mansion until then, so instead she made a pit stop at a favourite bar of hers. Why look for somewhere quiet when she had somewhere already?
And so Emily flashed her expensive false ID to get inside, and was eager for the day when she wouldn’t need it anymore, which wasn’t all that far off. If she was in the UK it would be no problem. Silly US laws.
She found herself a quiet booth to sit in and ordered a glass of white wine, quickly settling down in the corner of the booth and humming, dragging out her sketch pad and closing her eyes for a few moments, just basking in the relative quiet in the room.
There was nothing in the menu that seemed interesting enough for the moment, so it would just have to be the beverage. It would save a little cash though, so nothing wrong with that. While Mae sipped her drink, however, the relative quiet was interrupted by a couple nearby who seemed to be happy, drunk, and gradually getting louder.
Mae felt her brow furrow, and reflexively released her powers. The shimmer of the dead zone stretched out, blanketing her in the silence.
Better. Much better.
She sighed to herself once she did. There was no one near, so there shouldn't be a problem just relaxing, anyway. The couple could have their time together, the bartender was doing there thing, and she could drink in peace. The only thing she didn't plan for was the booth behind her that managed to fall just inside the circle of her powers. Mae was oblivious to the fact she had now encompassed someone else in her literal bubble.
