The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Okay, so this was a little embarrassing. You see, Mr.S had told him after the whole Giant Moth incident that he was cool to use the danger room, a sort of training room for the X-Men and more experiences students here. He'd heard rumors about it before, and had even been looking forward to eventually gaining access. To be honest, though, he didn't know exactly where it was, and furthermore, he didn't know how to operate it.
He figured it was down the locked elevator, so that part had been easy, but that was the only easy part. From there, it was sterile hallways leading every which direction.
It was cool, honestly. He'd finally laid eyes on the X-Jet for the first time. Amazing. He'd read a lot of speculation about it, but there it was, right there. Right in front of him.
Selfie, selfie, peace sign selfie. Right! Back to the objective!
The 6'5 blonde wandered the shiny basement halls like a lost child in an elementary school until he came to a large locked door. Was this it? He eyed the access panel. Oh, the door was labeled. Cerebra? It wouldn't open. Weird. He wondered what that could be. Oh well!
The wannabe X-Man turned and headed down another hallway, pausing when he heard the sound of someone walking down the next hallway. Oh, god, finally. "Hello? I'm looking for the Danger Room, can you help?" He said as he round the corner to see who was there.
It felt like it was getting harder and harder to have a nice quiet session in the danger room. Some of it was that the team seemed to have a pretty sizable roster at the moment, some of it was that other people randomly decided to go for sessions. Sometimes Serena even ended up taking a student, or another team member in there for some training or practice. Today though, surely today she'd get a quiet session!
She turned a corner and immediately saw a st- was he a student? He was freaking big. Like, giant big. Whoa.
She stopped dead. Danger room. Of course he was.
Mentally sighing, Serena put on a smile and greeted the young man. "Hello there, may I ask why you're looking for the danger room?" She inquired, wondering if he was just a curious youth, or if he had a class or something she'd missed being scheduled.
It was... a smiling blonde woman. Huh. There could have been a lot scarier things around the corner, so this wasn't bad. He smiled back, rubbing the back of his head.
"Yeah, uh, well, so... Mr. S, I mean, Shard, Shard mentioned I could use the danger room, cause, you know." He adjusted a little bit, going from looking like a kid about to ask someone to buy him alcohol outside of a convenience store to a totally super confident super hero. "I helped him with a mission." Did his teeth just glean as he gave a thumbs up?
He paused for a second, and went right back to a bit nervous, poking his fingers together as he shrinked down a little bit. "You know, so I... Figured i'd check it out. Since class it out."
He blinked a few times, before realizing he was being rude, having not introduced himself. "I'm Xavier, by the way. Gonna join the X-Men soon." He held out a hand to shake, nodding respectfully.
Shard was Shinbo right? She'd not really spoken to him much, ever really. But she did know him. And she did like him. In fact, if she was remembering correctly he'd been the first person to greet her at the mansion.
She tilted her head in a smile. "Oh, did you now?" She was glad that not all of the X-men were stuck on the deputisation thing. She'd definitely meddled in her fair share of situations before she joined the team formally. Although this guy looked very young.
Ah. Class, he was a student. Okay. She could totally help him out. He seemed nice enough, and he was polite. And if Shard had already told him he could check out the danger room... That made sense. But she was under the impression staff were supposed to supervise, especially if the boy was underage.
He was actually really cute, like a little hero wannabe.
She accepted the hand. "I see, well It's a pleasure to meet you. Xavier, I'm Serena." She waited for the bit and smiled more.
"Ah. I see. In that case I don't see a reason I can't help you." She conceded. "I can show you the room and supervise." He was kind of too sweet to say no to.
She asked him more about helping Shin. He may or may not have been keeping his mouth shut in order to be polite and not talk about himself too much, but she asked! "Yeah! There was the giant moth monster flying around central park and shooting galeforce wind gusts! Shin covered me while I threw a dumpster at it." He crossed his beefy arms in front of his chest and smiled widely, clearly proud. Also, leaving out the fact that he ended up completely naked by the end of that encounter. She didn't need to know that.
"Nice to meet you, too, Serena!" Did the name sound familiar?
She offered to supervise him in the danger room. His eyes lit up brightly as he pumped a fist. "Awesome! Hey, wait, Supervise?" The 6'5 teenager turned to her and tilted his head. "Are you a teacher?" She didn't look THAT old. How old was she? Mid twenties, it looked like. Why did he recognize her, though? He shrugged the feeling off.
"Anyway, lead the way! I can't wait. I'm honestly not sure what to expect; there's some speculation online about the danger room, but none of that stuff sounds even possible." He shrugged. Still, what ever it was, it was where the X-Men trained. That was a pretty important place to be if you were looking to become one, right?
A giant moth in central park? That sounded like something straight ouf of a B tier horror movie, one of those old black and white ones. That or the plot of a badly written anime. The hijinks that some people got up to in New York were sort of astonishing. Serena had heard of everything from werewolves to giant fleshy monsters turning up in central park. It seemed to be a favourite spot.
“That’s very brave of you.” She conceded with a smile. He seemed so genuine, so enthusiastic. You just didn’t meet people like this Xavier kid. Serena felt like almost all of her interactions with students recently had been slightly more tenuous. Grumpy teenagers tended to exude that vibe.
Serena shrugged and shook her head mildly. “Not really, I’ve not taken up an official position at the mansion yet. I’ve been offered, and I’m just trying to decide where I can best help.” She’d been thinking about teaching, or tuition perhaps? She’d helped out with Self Defense before, but she was hardly an expert on that topic. Besides, she figured that they could always use more teachers.
English or Biology she could probably manage. Literature was awesome, she was good at the language side of things too.
“I’m on the team, thus why I can supervise.” She revealed non-chalantly. “Speculation aside for a moment, generally the room is a fantastic training tool, both for the team and students who need power training. But it can potentially be dangerous. Therefore the need for supervision.” He did seem young, but she should probably confirm an actual age rather than speculating.
He smiled widely when she said he was brave. "Yup! That's me! Brave!" He placed his hands on his hips and hero posed, but then leaned in, whispering a bit. "It was honestly slightly terrifying, but I wanted to save people, so I did it anyway. Shard being there helped a lot!"
The tall young man nodded as she mentioned that she wasn't sure what she wanted to do here. "Oh, well, congrats on getting an offer! Maybe I'll be in one of your classes if you teach one!" He looked down the hallway, wondering if the Danger Room was down that way. He'd walked pretty much every other hallway, he thought.
His eyes widened as she casually dropped that she was one of the X-Men! "Whaaaat?! Woah, cool! How long have you been on the team?!" He paused as he realized he was leaning down and staring her in the face. Right, yeah, reign yourself in. He stood back again. "Ahem, yeah, danger room. Dangerous. Good point. Yes! I would love it if you supervised. Uhm... where were you headed? I'm not interrupting anything, am I?"
He paused when she asked how old he was. "17!" How old did someone have to be to become an X-Man?
Dear lord, he was liking a walking action figure, complete with cheesy lines. It was adorable and endearing though, Serena was happy to spend more time with the kid if this was the way he leaned. "If it was terrifying and you did it anyway you're definitely brave, it's almost literally the definition of courage." You could trust her, she was a writer. She should get a shirt with that on it or something. 'I'm Serena I can do word good'. It was hard not to giggle outloud at the stray thought.
"I'm sure you will, It'll be working with the English teacher, and running some self defence programs." She smiled. As she was saying it outloud, and discussing it with an inspirational, young aspiring X-man Serena realised she'd decided she was going to accept the offer. She had no issue with giving back to the mansion, even less so now that she was on the team.
Serena blinked, chuckling a little at the reaction. He was such a fan boy. "Around a month? Maybe a little more? I'm not one hundred percent certain, it's been a busy couple of months." It had been, lots of sister stuff going on, some relationship drama and more training than was probably healthy.
Biting her lower lip a little unconsciously Serena stifled an amused chuckle. "As a matter of fact, I was just about to go and do some training in there. I don't mind turning it into a sort of induction though, especially if Shard if vouching for you." She complimented gently.
"Alright, I'm pretty sure you do need to be supervised in the room then, if you're looking to join the team, eventually when you're a bit older I think it'll be no problem for you to use it on your own." Serena certainly wasn't comfortable letting underage kids use it on their own, that was for sure.
Xavier turned a little red at the thought of his actions being brave. Instinctually he reached a hand to the back of his head and chuckled. "I dunno. I just sorta do things without thinking sometimes. They just happen to be things that help people, I guess!" He welcomed the changing of subjects, seemingly a little thrown off talking seriously about being brave.
"That's cool! I like the english program, here. Val- I mean, Ms. Grey is a great teacher!" He was excited at the prospect of going to the dangerroom with someone who could teach self defense as well! Neat!
He nodded as she mentioned that she had been on the team for a month. That made sense! It had been a really busy month for him, discovering his powers, testing them, and then getting things set up to come here. It made sense that a new team member had flown under the radar. He smiled widely when she mentioned she was going to train, but that she didn't mind showing him around.
"Awesome! I- Is it this way? I guess it makes sense that I won't be able to go alone for a bit... How dangerous is it? I mean, the name sorta tells all, but I'm not even really sure how it works or anything."
He turned to follow her toward the danger room, provided she lead the way.
Serena smiled very broadly. He was just, adorable. It was infectious. She reflected back and realised she'd sort of done the same thing, quite a few times actually. "She is quite excellent." Serena admitted warmly. She valued Becca's opinion like few other people, she would love the opportunity to teach beside her. Serena should really rope Rebecca into reading some of her manuscripts for feedback.
Serena glanced back as she led Xavier to the danger room and simply smiled. "It's only as dangerous as the person operating it allows it to be, don't worry. We will be reasonably safe." She doubted Xavier was too afraid of danger, given that head already said he'd been partaking in some heroics.
"It's... Well, it's very complex. It can project and create objects, scenarios, buildings even. If you've ever seen Star Trek, think holodeck." She realised immediately after she said it that 'holodeck' might not mean anything to somebody of Xavier's age group, She was glad she was leading the way, and her blushing face was free from view for the couple of moments it took to return to normal.
