The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

All things considered it was actually a pretty funny choice of words. "Which is not much." She murmured thoughtlessly and quietly. "Damn straight." She'd had it pointed out before that the amount of cursing she did with her accent was odd, which was pretty funny. People that said those things clearly hadn't spent that much time in the UK.
The times that Emily couldn't easily get through to Skye actually really frustrated her. Sometimes she wished her power could actually effect others, she knew that there were Empathy that could do that... She just wasn't one of them. Hopefully the sadness wouldn't creep up much above the surface for the rest of the day. Emily actually had no solid plans, but she'd definitely steer away from stressful environments.
"That makes one of us." She snorted. People were the cause of all her problems, literally.
She'd been erratically nibbling throughout the conversation and had eaten most of her portion but she still wasn't particularly hungry. She was starting to get a headache from the environment already. "Yes, lets do that." She replied, standing up, leaving a small tip at the table before exiting a little quickly.

For someone who's powers revolved around emotion, Skye could be pretty dense sometimes. But Skye was getting this odd feeling looking at Emily, like maybe Skye wasn't the only one who needed help. But at the same time, she really didn't know how.
She let her hand rest on the other woman's, giving her a small smile. "I can imagine, but there can be a balance, I think. It's good to be independent and not have to rely on anyone, but...everyone needs somebody," she said reassuringly. "I've said before we can help each other," she said with a smile.
Standing up, she walked briskly to keep up, grabbing Emily's hand again, so she didn't lose her. "You're gonna make me chase you, eh?" she teased lightly. "You still up for the mall? Or do you need to go somewhere quiet to recharge? Or...however that works," she admitted, blushing lightly. She was trying to return the favor, but she had a feeling Emily was better at the whole comfort thing. But she was at least trying, right?

Everybody needed somebody? She wasn't sure about that. It seemed to her much more prudent that you were happy with yourself. She generally found herself getting tired out being around a person after a few days, all the petty little dislikes ore quirks of a person started to get under her skin after a while and then she'd move on.
Emily didn't enjoy physical contact so much as the closeness that it brought. When Skye was literally attached to her it made it so much easier for her to drown out the other people around her. "Some girls just like to be chased I guess" She shot back absent-mindlessly.
She smiled a little again as they left the vicinity. "Something was just bothering me in there." She admitted. Maybe it was all of the pho-attraction going on in the room.
"I-Well i-" She blinked and gathered her thoughts. "It's not a recharge thing. It just doesn't have an off switch. I'm fine. I'll be fine."

Skye, on the other hand, practically needed some sort of physical contact. For some reason, just that alone made her feel better most days. She gave an understanding nod. "That I understand. Sometimes I need to get away to somewhere my emotions aren't worked up. So I thought maybe you needed something similar, but with other people's emotions?" she said, genuinely intrigued by Emily's power.
Giving her hand a squeeze, it wasn't long before they approached the mall. "So...chokers first, and what else do you think we should look at? I was thinking about expanding my style a bit. Maybe more leather? Or denim? I do know chains and studs would be kind of cool, but how would they look on me?" she pondered out loud, her brown eyes scanning the area.

Emily really didn't mind talking about her power too much now that Skye actually knew about it, it was much easier to discuss and explain than to bring up initially. She also knew that Skye wasn't remotely judgemental over it, which made things less painful on that front. "Mostly it's just the fact that I've always got an extra sense going on. I don't have an off switch, even when I'm asleep I'm still picking things up from everybody around me, it causes bad headaches and makes it hard to concentrate."
She didn't need to glance around to know people weren't really paying attention to them and actually blushed a little when Skye squeezed her hand, feeling more affection. "I can, sometimes sort of be affected by what's around me. If I'm in a room full of people that are excited, it's very hard not to be excited. Same thing if they're particularly intense."
Emily glanced at Skye with a sideways smirk. "You're asking me? I thought I told you I suck at fashion" She rolled her eyes. "I'm not really an expert on the topic. I don't see a person and judge them on what jacket they're wearing, I judge them on what's inside instead."
She forced her self to look away from Skye when she added. "So just remember, if I can hang out with you for this long you must be doing something right."

"That's really interesting, honestly. Though I can see why it would have negative effects," she replied with a smirk. Her free hand removed the beanie and stuffed it into her jacket pocket, allowing her mohawk to see the light of day.
"Maybe, but I need a second opinion. I normally cling to hoodies and low cut tops...I feel like I should diversify a little bit, and you're my shopping partner for the day~" She gave a bright smile. "Good to know I'm getting things right," she said brightly, finally deciding to head for one of the more "punky" clothing stores that sold chokers, spiked boots, acid washed denim, leather, and the like.
"Might as well start here," she said as she released Emily's hand, going to look at a blue denim jacket that actually had a hood on it. Then she found the chokers though she had no idea what she was doing here, she looked at a couple, biting her lip in thought.

She smiled a little, feeling more timid as they went into the mall. She wasn't quite sure what was causing the feeling. "Small part of why I found you so interesting." She admitted. Skye was intense, the combination of that and the way that her power worked made her just naturally intriguing to Emily.
"Diversity is good... I guess." She wasn't a bastion of diversity by any means. She did have SOME shirts that weren't black or a dark blue.
Now this clothing store was Emily's vibe she felt a little relief and freedom from Skye as her hand was released and immediately got lost in perusing clothes, moving across a few skirts that she completely ignored and inspected some torn black jeans with chains hanging from them. The edgy teenager special.
"Wha-" she stammered and blinked, she'd totally gotten distracted, even in a cramped little gothy shop filled with teenagers, spinning around to move back over to Skye and cleared her throat a little sheepishly. "Sorry, got distracted."
She reached for a few chokers with softer materials, and small metal components and held them up near Skye's skin for comparison.

"Good to know," she said with a smile, not admitting that Emily basically had her at "Are you okay?" It was what she needed at the time, honestly.
"Great, we're both guessing. Blind leading the blind, eh?" she said with another giggle. "Aside from what I'm wearing, all my clothes basically look like the same thing in different colors. Though I guess it fits my theme...I sort of wonder if I could pull off anything else."
She snorted lightly, shaking her head. "You're fine. It happens." She watched as Emily held some chokers to her skin, and she looked down to get a look. "I kinda like that one," she said, pointing to a black one that had studs, but a rainbow-colored metallic skull in the center.

Emily shrugged. "You don't seem blind to me when it comes to that sort of thing. You're trying something new, I just meant that mine doesn't really shift at all." The hair was new, but not really all that different to how she'd looked before. It was more a small form of rebellion than anything else, even if she'd never admit that out loud.
"I think it suits you." She admitted, thinking about Skye's tendency to wear different colours of more or less the same thing. If she was to pin down what she found interesting or alluring in terms of how a person presented themselves it was probably along the lines of clothes that suited their personality.
"I feel as long as you're confident you can probably pull anything off." She added sheepishly. All these compliments were becoming problematic, she needed to fit in some more banter for her demeanour and sanity. It was a little too embarrassing to give praise and feel warmth radiating from the other person in response.
Snorting a little at the skull she smiled at Skye. "Put it on and look in the mirror, does it make you feel like smiling?" That was probably how she should go about this, make Skye formulate her own opinion on how she looked, and then trust it.

"Gotcha. Though I do like your style, honestly. And it really goes with the new hair color~" she complimented sincerely.
"I think it does suit me, but I feel like my wardrobe isn't far from being like one of those TV shows where the character opens a closet and is struggling to find what to wear, but everything is the same," she said with a giggle. Skye beamed at the compliment, literally and figuratively, as her smile matched the pulsing orange that now radiated from her palms. Confidence was something she was starting to get back, little by little.
She put the choker on and looked in the mirror, and it really did make her smile. "I think it suits me to a tee," she murmured, her eyes twinkling with happiness. "It's cute, but there's also an air of...toughness...about it," she mused.

Emily's cheeks flushed in red when Skye talked about her style. It was stupid. She didn't really care about what other people thought of her appearance did she? She definitely didn't care much what other people looked like. She thought Skye's whole thing was fun, but that was more because she was colourful than because Emily thought she looked alluring or attractive. So why should she care what others thought of her in that sense? Was it different because it was Skye in particular complimenting her?
Emily snorted. "You definitely come off like a cartoon character sometimes." She teased with a little smirk.
It was funny how it worked, Emily wasn't sure about the choker until she felt the self-approval from Skye, and it was then and only then that she nodded and agreed. "Definitely suits you." Before bursting into quiet laughter and grinning widely at Skye. "Yes rainbow girl, the first thing I think whenever I look at you is 'man, this girl exudes toughness."

"I mean, my mutation does scream anime heroine, but for some reason I don't think that's what you were implying," she said with a dramatic roll of her eyes.
She didn't mean to cling to Emily the way she had been, despite being called out on it a few times just today. She just made Skye feel...validated; like she mattered. And Emily genuinely seemed to like her, which made her feel good, all things considered. "Thanks."
Then, the orange went back to that embarrassed purple, flickering, but not enough to cause a flash-bang. "Hey, I'm a regular badass! I once....uh...I mean I can...and...there was this time..." she stammered, once again tripping over her words before giving Emily a light and playful smack on the arm. "Shaddup." she finally said, taking off the choker and setting it with the jacket.

Emily had never actually even watched an anime come to think of it, but she did use the internet so she did snort at the comment. "Yeah, because that makes you much cooler." she teased.
While Skye inspected herself and went through several literal shades of thought and embarrassment Emily also found some multi-coloured bracelets on one of the stands and pulled them off. She inspected them briefly. They were probably for pride or something, but Emily thought Skye might like them. Not that she was an expert or anything.
She burst into more laughter before forcing herself to calm down, her face turning into a barely restrained smile, contrasted by the slight blush on her cheeks. The trouble with being this close to somebody and focusing solely on them was that her teasing could bleed over causing her to feel some of the embarrassment herself. Maybe she should back up on the teasing a tiny bit.
"What about these?" She held out the wristbands for Skye to see.

"I'm kinda cool, dammit," she said, closing her eyes and sticking out her tongue.
She looked at the wristbands; definitely something for pride, but all things considered she was okay with that. Just one more reason they suited her, to be honest. "Perfect," she said with a smile, noting the light blush on Emily's cheeks. There seemed to be a lot of blushing when they were together. At least Emily's embarrassment wouldn't have catastrophic results. Well, not like Skye's, anyway. She set them with the other stuff she'd picked out.
"What about you? I refuse to be the only one walking out with an armload of crap," she teased, adding a friendly wink.

You are kind of cool. Emily thought affectionately, without expressing out loud obviously, doing that would make her lose even more of her edgy credit than she already had hanging out with Skye. Emily also felt another infuriating blush colour her cheeks when Skye admitted to liking them, she definitely needed to stop with the teasing and compliments, it was starting to big time backfire.
Clothes. Focus on the clothes.
Shrugging in response Skye's comment she started to look around. "I'm not really sure. I don't particularly need more clothes..." She admitted, Emily wasn't adverse to clothes shopping, infact it was one of the few traditionally 'girly' things that she enjoyed doing.
She began perusing the hoodies, and the black leather jackets, humming a little bit unconsciously.
