The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The first time Cold Steel showed Javier the Danger Room, the told him about how it was used to train with mutant powers in a safe environment. Javier had no plans for becoming a vigilante any time soon, but even he had to admit that his powers were unreliable, always had been, and no one had any idea why. In exchange for the uniforms, Sam offered to give him temporary permission to attend training with a member of the team. The idea was that it would be mutually beneficial: He'd get to do a DR session alongside someone with non-threatening powers (something to do with light), and that person would get to test themselves against (occasional) super strength.
Win-win, right?
Javier paced nervously outside the door of the Danger Room. He was wearing a plain blue t-shirt and sweatpants; he was not sure what the appropriate attire would be, and he had no suit of his own. Because... well, because he was not a vigilante.

Lizzy
Once again, Skye found herself walking down the hall toward the Danger Room, but this time, a few things were notably different. Number one, her hair wasn't purple as it had been the first time, it was a happy shade of orange, as was becoming more frequent as of late. Second, Skye was wearing her gunmetal grey training uniform with yellow trim, though there were a few places where it had been repaired already. Training was somewhat more intense than she expected, on top of schooling, but she was okay with that. And third, when she got there, Mirror wasn't waiting for her. This time, it was someone she'd never met. Which made her nervous, but the main part of her training had been to get some control of her emotions.
When she got there, she found someone already pacing, apparently waiting for someone. More than likely, her.
"Here for training, right?" She said, extending her hand to shake, though it was faintly flickering with an orange light. "Skye Sinclaire, or Prism, if you prefer," she said, deciding she'd better try out the new name, right?
The girl walking down the hallway to meet Javier looked a lot better prepared than he was. She was clearly on the X-men team, although not wearing a uniform that he had designed. Almost unconsciously, Javier's eyes scanned the outfit, looking for design choices and flaws; when she finally reached him, it took a moment to register that the suit had an actual talking person in it.
Get a grip, Javier.
>>"Here for training, right? Skye Sinclaire, or Prism, if you prefer,"
The orange hair and the orange light clearly marked her as a mutant. In the back of his mind, Javier noted the color might have had something to do with her outfit.
"Javier Moreno" he managed to shake her hand and introduce himself like a normal human being "No other name. Sam told me you needed a... uh, training partner?"
