The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

At this point, Sinclaire shifted the focus from her to the situation at hand. He wasn't good with people, but dealing with tension and uncertainty was what he did, though he usually just handled those with a grenade or a few well placed strikes, he knew other ways to remedy this sort of thing. Sadly none of those worked here, so he was improvising as he took a sip of his beer.
Her question cut through his thinking. "Well, right after this, I'm going to the gym. Maybe hit the bag," he said with a shrug, focusing more on his beer. He was sure she was on to him, but he wasn't sure what to do about it or how to get back on track. All he knew was that his counterpart was a fighter who never made it. Aside from that, he was lost, but maybe he'd get some information out of it after all. He figured the gym would be the closest one to this area, so that wasn't so hard. He hoped.
Lee simply nodded when ‘Blaine’ said that he was probably just going to hear to the gym and hit the bag. So he knew Blaine was a fighter, or at least trained that way. But how much did he know, Lee wondered. ”Just the bag today? No weights?” She asked before taking a sip of her water.
With all the crazy stuff that happened in New York it was scary to think that there could be people that could pretend to be Blaine. Or her, for that matter.
A quick glance to the door, Lee realized she was going to have to talk to Skye. Without this guy being able to hear. As well as Blaine. And probably Devon, see if he knew anything.
”What about after the gym?” Lee asked, turning back to the man in front of her, tilting her head slightly.”How long do you think you're going to be there?”
She was testing him. Definitely. Keeping a calm demeanor, he shrugged lightly.
"We'll see how I feel, I mostly just feel like hitting the bag today," he said, keeping his answers simple. Even if he was wrong, this way he couldn't put his foot in his mouth too badly. But he was playing defense, and that was something he honestly didn't know how to do; he'd never really had to.
"Probably just gonna be there a few hours," he answered plainly. "After, I'll just see what happens, maybe head home and grab a nap." That, was actually the truth. He didn't know if it was what Blaine would do, but by that point it wouldn't matter.
He felt like hitting the bag. Blaine, like her, generally didn’t like hitting the bag, it was boring, but fairly necessary when you didn’t have someone to spar with.
As he continued, Lee realized that the this man really didn’t know specifics about Blaine. That was good. So Lee just nodded as he was speaking.
Thankfully, their food arrived, so Lee was able to turn at least part of her attention to her plate, even as her mind was racing, trying to figure out what she was supposed to do. Munching on a piece of her garlic bread, Lee looked up at the man again. ”What about tonight? Maybe we could do something.” Not that Lee had any idea what she was doing, but maybe she’d be able to get some backup and figure this all out.
Their food arrived, and he dove right in, eating politely, yet somewhat...eagerly. He was hungry after all. And the burger gave him something to focus on.
"Maybe. We could always catch a movie later," he said with a shrug, still trying to keep his answers simple. What did she like? Hell, what did Blaine like? This was crazy, and he probably should have just told her the truth, but...that wouldn't go well. He looked at his plate, setting down his half eaten burger before drinking a long swig of beer.
He did know that no matter what they planned for tonight....he wasn't going to show.
”A movie?” Lee asked. Taking another bite of garlic bread, Lee tilted her head as she chewed. That could work, she thought. At least if they got to the guy before making it inside around too many people. She nodded slightly. ”I think that would work.”
Dropping her eyes as she ate, Lee pulled her phone out to quickly look up movies. She had to make this believable, after all. Plus, she needed to have a reason to have her phone in her hand. ”That movie I’ve been dying to see starts at 7:20,” she said, referring to a chick flick she knew Blaine would never go see with her. Unfortunately. ”Or, if we miss that, I suppose we can see that action movie.”
As she finished speaking, Lee quickly shot off a text to Blaine, asking him to meet her at Haven when he was finished at the gym.
He nodded at the prospect of a movie, finishing his food. Then, he'd taken a few more sips of his beer, finally just chugging both of them down as he pushed his plate back, leaving more than enough money on the table to cover both meals plus tip. "Sounds good," he said, standing to his feet. "See you then~" With that, he made his way out the door, down the street, to this 'gym' she'd mentioned.
Meanwhile, Blaine was sitting down, curling a dumbbell to finish off his workout when he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. A text? From Lee? That was odd. They didn't text. Opening it, his eyes scanned over the words. Meet her at Haven? That was...odd. 'Be there in an hour,' he texted back before putting his weights away and then changing.
On his way out of the gym, he brushed shoulders with a gentleman, and neither of them flinched. He looked back to see the large short haired man hadn't even turned around. That was...odd. Shrugging it off, he made his way out of the gym and down the street.
Lee continued to eat as she watched ‘Blaine’ finishing his food. And then he downed the rest of both beers. But at least he seemed to be trying to keep up the charade, for whatever his reasons were, by pulling out money for the food. At least that meant she wasn’t going to have to pay for whoever this was food.
Lee nodded when the man said that he’d see her later that night. ”Can’t wait,” she replied even as he was walking away. And then he was gone. Lee breathed a sigh of relief, as she heard her phone. Glancing at it, she saw Blaine’s reply. She knew he didn’t text, so the fact that he had sent the reply back in text form told Lee he was probably a touch worried. But at least she’d be able to talk to him in an hour.
Tucking her phone away, Lee then looked around the bar looking for Skye. When Lee finally caught sight of the younger woman, Lee waved her over. Now that the man was gone and couldn’t hear anything, she had to warn Skye, make sure her niece would be safe while she wasn’t around.

Honestly, Skye hated door duty, but she was covering for a coworker, and it was a few extra hours that week, so she couldn't be too upset, right? Well, not upset, but she definitely was confused as she saw her uncle moving rather briskly out of the door without speaking to her. That was...odd. And something about the way he carried himself was off.
...Was everything okay between him and Lee? Especially with her being...
She hoped everything was okay. But when she looked back, Lee was waving her over. Something had happened, she knew it. Taking a breath, she walked over, her hair a worried green, as her hands began to flicker. "E-everything okay, Aunt Lee? I saw Uncle Blaine leave. Did you two...I mean, is everything okay with you two?" she asked, worry on her face.
Finally, Skye was making her way over to her table, and as the younger woman walked, Lee tried to figure out what it was she was going to say to her, how she was supposed to explain it. And Lee couldn’t help but remember how naive Skye had seemed, how innocent of serious problems in the world, when she’d said that it was ‘pretty bad’ when her powers went nova.
If that was pretty bad, this was horrific, and nothing had actually happened yet.
Lee took a deep breath, still trying to figure out what to say. But Skye was there, she had to say something. ”Yeah, everything's good with Blaine and I,” she said. ”I’m going to see him in about an hour. The problem is, that man isn’t your uncle.”

Skye blinked. That wasn't--then what--why--who--She was so confused. Leaning on the table--which may have been a bad idea, given the nature of her uniform, but oh well. This was kind of important.
"So....that wasn't Uncle Blaine....just someone who looked just like him with shorter hair? And talked like him?" She said, green lights now gently pulsing at her confusion. This was insane.
"Then why were you with him? What did he want? What's going on?" she asked, her head practically spinning as she tried to make heads or tails of all of this. Sadly she wasn't having much luck.
Skye was looking confused, very confused, and Lee honestly couldn’t blame her for that. She was confused as well. ”I don’t know who he is, but I thought he was your uncle at first,” Lee told Skye. ”And he pretended to be him. And that’s the problem, I don’t know why.”
Lee paused and just looked at Skye for a few moments as the girl leaned against the table. She had so much attitude, but that wouldn’t do anything against someone like the man she had just had lunch with, Lee knew. ”But I’ll deal with trying to figure out who he is and what he wants. Your uncle and I. The important thing for you to know is don’t go anywhere with him, or let yourself be alone with him.. Not until I figure out what’s going on.”
Skye nodded as she listened to her 'aunt' explain things. It didn't help, honestly, but in a world where people could turn colors and breathe smoke and turn into dogs, anything was possible, she supposed. "Okay, so he seems like a bad dude, but we have no idea what his angle is..." she said, biting her lip a little.
She hated to admit it, but Lee's next words were right. She was 5'3, maybe a buck fifteen soaking wet, and she was pretty sure her flash-bang wouldn't be much of a match against someone with a mutation like her uncle's. It sucked, but she was totally useless here. "Sounds....fair..." she breathed, none to happy with the decision, but not dumb enough to argue with it. She knew Lee was right, and if this guy was as dangerous as he might be...well it'd be a good call just to listen to reason.
If Lee were to be honest with herself, she was surprised at not only how well Skye was taking the news that the man she had had lunch with was not her uncle, but also to keep her distance for her own safety. Lee would have expected more of an argument, if for no other reason than Skye was a teenager.
”I just don't want you getting hurt,” Lee told the younger woman. ”But, if there’s something that you can do, I’ll let you know.”
That said, Lee glanced at the time. ”I should probably head back to work, actually get something done before your uncle gets there to meet me.”

Let the adults handle it. That she could do. Hell, if this guy was like some Darth-Blaine, then she'd happily let Lee and Blaine and anyone else they may have have him. Mr. Doesn't-Feel-A-Lot and Miss Energy-Sucker would stand a lot more of a chance than a human Lite-Brite, she thought.
"Yeah, I understand. And I will." She nodded when Lee said she had to get back to work; it was kind of weird with her having a day job, but you did what you had to, she guessed.
"I'll let you know if he comes back or anything. See you tonight," she said with a smile, although the green in her hair turned a more nervous purple.
