The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She nodded slowly, considerably more respectful than when she'd first showed up on the doorstep. She knew she didn't have to answer to Lee, but she liked the older woman. After all, she wouldn't have taken to calling her "Aunt" if she didn't.
"Yeah, I've been told, and I'm beginning to realize how much different it is from my little half-hour from the city port-town home," she said with a slight blush. "That's also why Jack offered to walk me home. It helps when you have a friend who's bigger than Uncle Blaine," she said, smirking a little at the thought, taking another sip of soda.
Skye said that she was realizing how different the city was, and Lee nodded. The place that she had grown up in herself wasn’t all that small, and yet New York was very different from Barrie. But the woman that Skye had met was larger than Blaine? Lee couldn’t stop her eyes from widening in surprise as she looked over. ”I guess that does change things a bit,” Lee said. She could only imagine what that would look like, because Blaine was already quite large. ”I know it’s not my place to worry,” Lee continued, a bit of a frown back on her face. ”But I don’t want you to have to experience the reasons why that worry’s there.”
Skye nodded. "Yeah...it does, in a way. She did say it'd be safer since no one was stupid enough to mess with her; not quite those words, but you know," she said, finishing her soda and getting up to throw the can in the trash.
"It may not be, but thanks. I've never really had that. I mean, once my powers surfaced, my mom didn't care. And while my Dad does care, he was always stressed and stretched out as it was." she said once she got back. "I'll be more careful," she reassured before moving next to Lee and wrapping an arm around her in a half hug. "Thanks. I know I've only been here a short while, but thanks for being so accepting and caring. It means a lot."
Lee nodded when Skye said that she hadn’t really had someone worrying about her since her powers emerged. Unfortunately, Lee knew that all too well.
Then Skye was giving her a hug, thanking her. Lee smiled. ”You’re welcome,” Lee said, a little uncomfortable. ”Everyone deserves to have someone worry about them, who cares about them.
“But really,” Lee continued with a shrug. ”What reason would I have for not being accepting? Other than barging in in the middle of the night, you’ve given me no reason to not accept you.” Lee finished, a bit teasingly.

She nodded. "Yeah, Dad worried, but he also figured if anyone started anything, I'd just end up blinding them. I mean, he's not wrong..." she giggled lightly.
Then, she blushed again at the mention of barging in late at night. "Well, my plane was supposed to land at 8. But between side-stops and layovers and broken planes...." she shrugged a little, releasing the long, awkward hug.
Lee nodded as she heard that Skye’s father worried about her. ”Hopefully that'll be enough for you to get away if anything happens,” Lee murmured, her voice far more serious than Skye’s was. Back in Maine, Lee was sure that something like that would have been more than enough to keep Skye safe. Lee wasn’t so sure that it would be enough here in New York, depending on what kind of situation the younger woman ran into.
”Well then, I guess it’s a good thing that your plane was delayed,” Lee said once Skye had released her from the hug and moved back a bit. ”We both worked that night, so if you got here when your plane was scheduled, you would have found an empty apartment with no one getting back here for hours.”
She nodded, though Skye hoped she'd never need to rely on her power like that, it was nice to know it could help if it came to that. Hopefully. She was so used to it going off when she didn't want it to, who's to say it would go off when she needed it?
At Lee's next words, she bit her lip a little, then nodded slowly. "Yeah...I guess that is a good thing, then," she murmured. "The way I felt that day, I probably would have flash-banged the entire complex before you guys even got home..." She gave a nervous laugh, but she wasn't exactly joking.
Hearing what Skye said about going nova if no one had been home, Lee blinked. That would not have gone well, not well at all.
”Though, you know,” Lee finally said after a few moments, a teasing tone coming into her voice. ”If you had given some notice, I would have made sure that your uncle wasn't working that night so could have been home to meet you. Hell, of we knew, we could have met you at the airport.”
She nodded, blushing lightly again. "Yeah...I know. I thought about it, but I was afraid I'd be told no....I mean we hadn't seen each other since I was little, and Dad and I thought if I just showed up....then it'd make the answer easier," she admitted. "Like I said, our family has some....communication issues," she murmured.
She finished her soda, curling up on the couch a little as she thought. She really hadn't thought this through at all, but at least everything turned out okay.
Lee nodded. ”That, actually, makes sense,” Lee said with a shake of her head after a moment. ”Men in general really do tend to suck with communicating, don’t they? We really need to work on that with them.”
Leaning back against the couch, Lee sat in thought for a minute, a bit of a plan forming. Blaine and his family had opened up the lines of communication, but that’s all that had happened so far. That’s all they had done in the last 13 years. And with the number of times that Blaine had brought up the fact that he missed his siblings, his parents, but that no one seemed to know what to say or do…
Lee smiled slightly as she sat looking toward the TV. ”Sometimes it’s just easier to talk when face to face, though,” She finally said, her voice soft. Then she looked over at the younger woman on the other side of the couch with a smirk. ”How much do you think they’d all hate me if we plan a surprise trip?”
"Yeah, they kinda do, don't they?" she said with a small smile. And the more she thought about it, the more she realized it was pretty much true. She curled up even tighter on the couch; she was little, but she was quite flexible to some extent. In fact, this fetal position was actually comfortable to her and she spent at least half the night sleeping this way.
She nodded, listening to Lee's idea. It really wasn't a bad idea, to be honest, though she really didn't know if it would go that smoothly. From her experience, it was never that easy. "Well, I really think it'd be a nice thing to do," she said thoughtfully as she sat up again to look her in the eye. "The problem is getting everyone together; my Dad lives closer to the city now, and I'm not too sure what my Aunt Candace is up to these days. But if nothing else I know my grandparents still live in my hometown."
Lee nodded as she listened to Skye say that she wasn’t sure how easy it would be to actually get the family together for a visit. ”I’m sure that we’ll figure something out,” Lee said with a shrug. ”Apparently, I’m a bit of a pro at planning stuff like this.”
Stretching slightly, Lee sat up straighter. ”I’m going to try and get some sleep before your uncle gets home,” Lee said before draining her pop. ”Unless you still wanted to talk? I mean, if there’s still something else you want to talk about, I don’t need to sleep today.”
Skye smiled, nodding happily, her hands flickering with an orange glow; it was one of her rarer colors lately. Not that she wasn't happy often, but nervousness or some other emotion always seemed to be stronger. "I'm looking forward to it," she said, her voice almost bubbly. It'd be nice to have the whole family together. Well, minus her mother, but that ***** wasn't family.
Skye nodded as Lee stretched. "Yeah, you should get some sleep. I'm probably going to go out; so maybe I can actually go to sleep at a decent hour," she teased lightly with a smile as she walked over to the coat rack to grab her hoodie, tugging it on and pulling the hood up. "Sleep tight, and thanks for the talk, Aunt Lee."
Lee grinned hearing Skye’s voice saying that she was looking forward to this currently just hypothetical trip. It was going to take some time and work, but Lee had no worry about things going well. This time, she just had long years and uncomfortable silences to deal with for getting Blaine to go see his family. So really, it shouldn't be much trouble.
”Hey, with everything I've got going on,” Lee replied, a teasing tone in her own voice even if every word was the truth. ”The fact that I'm even managing to sleep every day makes it a decent time, regardless of what the clock might try to convince you of.”
Then Skye thanked her, and Lee flashed a grin at the younger woman. ”Any time,” Lee replied as she stood up. ”You don’t even know what I would have given to have at your age what you have here with your uncle.”

She giggled, shaking her head. "To me, a decent hour is when it's dark. Noon is about the time I normally wake up but you two have me all out of wack," she teased lightly as he finished pulling her jacket on.
"Yeah...from what I've heard I seem to have it pretty good," she said. "I'm thankful for people like you two," with that, she gave a wave. "Sleep tight," she said as she turned and walked out the door, shutting it behind her.
