The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She smiled wider, giving a nod at her answer. "Even though I'm only meeting him for the first time in over a decade...I think he does feel the same. Especially after...some of the things you told me." She then gave a laugh at the image of an 80 year old Blaine setting his walker aside to get into the ring.
"Yeah...I noticed he still trains to fight. Like...he can't leave it. It's so ingrained in who he is. I wonder if bouncers have a good retirement plan..." she mused, thinking about that. Though she could see him doing that at 80, too...
Then the conversation got more serious, and Skye's smile faded, but she still nodded. "I can't just shut myself down like that. I just meant like I've grown a thicker skin. Like...I had a bad first day at work the other day, and bad days at home tended to make me...do that. And then I'd find myself fired."
Lee’s happy smile widened when she heard Skye’s comment about Blaine. In reality, she barely knew either of them, and yet she could see how they felt about each other with the small amount of time Skye saw them. ”Even that, knowing he’s happy after being alone for so long…” Lee shook her head slightly, smile on her face, as she thought about it, about the change she’d seen in Blaine. ”I mean, six weeks ago he didn’t even think he could be in a relationship, which I doubted, but this is just amazing.”
As they talked about her powers more, and her emotions, Lee noticed that Skye’s smile disappeared. ”Good,” Lee said softly, more seriously. ”I have done that. It’s not easy, and not enjoyable.”

She blinked. "You've only been together for about a month and a half? I really thought it'd been longer the way you guys act around each other. I mean...I kind of admire that," she murmured, looking over with a smile.
"Yeah...I mean, I like having emotions, but I'm sure if you paid enough attention, you could probably have me figured out by color-code, eventually..." she whispered lightly, then smiled.
"You know, hair dye doesn't take to my hair? I tried it when my powers surfaced. It turned colors, and then when it turned back, it was brown. The dye just sorta....disappears."
Lee thought, trying to do the math in her head, but the pressure behind her eyes made that a little difficult. At least her vision itself was much better. ”Uh, a little less than that, I think,” Lee said, then shrugged slightly. ”I’ve never been very good at keeping track of how long I’ve been in a relationship.”
But then Lee shrugged when Skye said that she thought it had been longer based on how they were together. ”Honestly, I don’t know what to think about that anymore,” Lee admitted. ”My ex-brother-in-law thought we’d been married for years when he met me, but we had only been together less than two months at the time.
“Maybe it’s just me,” Lee shot a slightly joking grin over at Skye before she turned a bit more serious. ”But your uncle and I understand each other, and the problems we each have with our powers, better than probably anyone else either of us have ever met. I think that’s helped us a lot.”
As Skye went on, Lee nodded, glad the girl wasn’t wanting to give up on feeling her emotions, even if she’d been doing better over the years in handling extreme ones. ”Well, apparently my face is a fairly open book, according to some, so at least you’re not alone there.”
And hair dye wouldn’t work for Skye? Lee frowned at that for a moment. ”I can see how that would suck, especially when you were younger. Though, I have to say, the colours are amazing!”
Skye listened as Lee spoke, nodding slowly. She herself didn't think she could get invested in anyone that quickly. In fact, she was almost envious; her relationships didn't tend to last that long, even. Then again, most of them weren't even intended to last more than a few hours, so...there was that.
"Maybe it's not a bad thing though. I mean...with Uncle Blaine...he's so much gentler around you. Granted all I've seen of him otherwise was on those tapes, but from what my Dad says, he was always sort of distant, even as a teenager. Sort of...intense, I guess? But the guy I see now...he's still tough, but he's got this....teddy bear vibe to him."
She smiled at the mention of her colors. "Thanks. They do give off this sort of punk-rock vibe, don't they?" she said, grinning a little.
Add Skye mentioned what she had noticed of Blaine since she'd been there, even if the only comparison she had were the tapes of the fights, Lee smiled. ”He is working on that,” Lee said softly. “He was so awkward at first, and the concentration every time he would touch me, even just to hold hands. It's really kind of amazing how much he's improved with that, though, I did tell him he just needed to practice.” Lee smiled when Skye said that Blaine seemed almost like a big teddy bear now. ”I knew there was nothing to it when he said he couldn't be with anyone,” Lee said softly. ”I mean, my powers are far more of a deterrence to g having a relationship than Blaine's are. Or, at least they used to be, and I still managed.” At least Skye smiled when she complimented her changeable hair ”It is,” Lee agreed with a nod. ”If it didn't cost so much to get colors that vibrant, I probably would have dyed my hair noted like yours when I was your age instead of black.”

"I don't know....I mean not being able to feel seems like a pretty big deterrence when it comes to certain things...." she murmured, still trying to figure out exactly how that worked, though she really didn't want to think on that too much, since it was her uncle involved. That was just...weird.
"Yeah. My dad told me they'd swapped to plastic and metal cups after his powers took full effect. He'd accidentally shatter glasses while trying to drink. I guess without feeling, you'd have to have a pretty impressive level of focus," she added as she relaxed even more.
"Heh, my hair can go black sometimes, but it takes a really....dangerous cocktail of emotions. Though the lights that come off of my hands when that happens is pretty neat..."
”Not a deterrence, just… Problematic,” Lee said with a slight frown as she thought. ”When you can't even curl up to watch a movie without the other person passing out from exhaustion before the end… That tends to make people not want to stick around for long. Or at all.” Lee shrugged, glancing over at Skye. ”Powers evolve, we learn to live with them. And there's a lot to be said for being happy and finding the right person.” As she described how her grandparents had switched to using plastic and metal cups, Lee nodded. ”Yeah, Blaine told me about that,” Lee said, a small frown still on her face. ”Most of the time, he seems to be able to manage that now with no problem, but I had to pick glass out of his hands one night. Apparently he doesn't pay attention to well when he's jealous.”

"Okay, that sounds pretty bad. But if he's anything like he was when I was little, Uncle Blaine's pretty stubborn. So I doubt he'll be going anywhere anytime soon," she said with a giggle. She did remember him being quite hard headed. Of course he was a lot younger back then, but he didn't seem too different nowadays, aside from the big soft spot he seemed to have for Lee. And the way he'd softened up when he saw her for the first time... "It makes sense...I mean, when you're dating someone, you also end up having to deal with their family, usually. And I guess it goes the same for mutations, too..." she mused.
"Well, he has had a lot of time to get used to that..." Then she blinked. "So he's a little protective of you, huh?" she teased lightly. Not that she blamed him.
Lee shook her head as it seemed Skye misunderstood. ”I mean, he probably wouldn't go anywhere if that was the case,” Lee said with a slight smile. ”But thankfully, it's not that bad anymore. I've got more control now and don't take as much energy normally. Though, when I try, u can also drop people a lot faster now, too.” “I mean, I still don't like my powers, but I seem to have gotten a lot more control over then once I came to at least be content with them.” Was Blaine protective of her? Well, he hadn't even entertained the idea of sparring her until she had more than proved herself at the gym. ”He seems to be, not that I really need it. But it turns out that your uncle doesn't like me flirting with anyone else.” Lee held up a finger to hold off any thoughts or comments Skye might have had. ”With Matt, it's completely harmless, it's just how we interact with each other and has been since the first night I met him. When I'd go to the bar with my ex-husband, Tarin would be standing there work me, the three of us joking around, me and Matt flirting and then I'd shoot him down, out Tarin would make some comment about him being the one to take me home. It was just such a normal part of how we interacted that I didn't even think about it until Blaine was upset and jealous.”

Skye smiled slightly as Lee mentioned her own powers, then gave a nod. "That explains how you were able to spar with him," she murmured, trying to imagine that. She actually wished she'd have been a fly on the wall for that one. Though, she felt she could relate when Lee said she didn't like her powers. Sometimes, she didn't either.
Then, Lee mentioned flirting, and explained the story, and she cocked her head to the side a little. On the one hand, it kinda made sense, but on the other, Skye was known to flirt freely as well, and not really in the playful sense. "Hey, I understand. And he does kind of strike me as the type. I mean...my family always kinda pegged him as the life-long bachelor. But I'm glad he's provin' em wrong," she said with a smile.
"In fact, I'd say he has pretty good taste, from what I've gathered about you."
Lee shrugged when Skye said Blaine seemed like the jealous type. ”It’s possible,” Lee allowed before continuing. ”But I think it was probably more the situation. We had just gotten together, and then that.” Lee shrugged again. ”And he was well on the path to that, until I suggested that it was possible for him to have a relationship, he just had to find the right person. And I wasn’t even thinking about it being myself when I said it.
“Apparently,” Lee continued with a slight smile. ”I’m pretty persuasive.”
Then Skye said that she thought Blaine had good taste, and Lee couldn’t stop the slight blush. ”All things considered, I didn’t do too bad, either. Plus, Kevin likes him, so that’s one less thing to have to worry about.”

She nodded again, mostly listening at this point in the conversation. "Yeah, it all makes sense to me. He'd just gotten you, sees you flirting and doesn't know what to think since you just got together, but luckily it was just harmless banter. Though it's pretty cool how that turned out."
She smiled at Lee's response to her comment about Blaine having good taste, but then she stopped, blinking a little in confusion. "Who's Kevin?"
Lee nodded as Skye pretty much summed up the whole problem that had happened with the Matt situation. Stated like that, and when Lee had looked at it from Blaine’s perspective that night, it made sense. ”Yeah, not only did I convince Blaine to give having a relationship a chance, but I convinced myself to try again, too.”
Then Lee saw Skye blink in confusion. And ask who Kevin was. It was now Lee’s turn to blink in confusion. What did she mean ‘who’s Kevin’?
”He’s my son,” Lee said slowly as she looked over at Skye. ”We have talked about him, told you about him, haven’t we?”

She smiled again, leaning back on the couch and stretching out a little. "Sounds like you two are a perfect fit for each other," she said as she looked over at Lee.
Then, she shook her head. "I remember you saying you'd been married before, but I don't remember you mentioning having a son. Though, my sleep pattern has been really messed up lately." Granted, part of that may have been staying out late, on top her not being used to a night schedule.
