The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Perfect fit? Lee’s eyes moved away from Skye as she thought, any semblance of a smile that may have been on her face now gone. How could that...But Tarin had been…
Her and Blaine did seem to understand each other in ways no one else ever had, though. Skye had come in and thought that they were married even though they had been together only weeks. And Lee knew how lonely it must have been for Blaine, because she had felt it, too.
Maybe they were a perfect match for each other, Lee thought as a small smile grew on her face. Lee wasn’t sure how they could be, but maybe they were.
But apparently her and Blaine hadn’t even mentioned the fact that she had a son to Skye. ”I guess I really slipped up there, didn’t I?” Lee asked as she looked back at Skye. ”My son, Kevin, is 6, and as soon as he found out what your uncle did, the first thing he did was ask if Blaine would teach him how to fight.”

Skye noticed her look away, and her hair turned blue, worried she'd said something wrong, or read too deep into it, or something. After all, it had only been several weeks. But then she subject turned to Kevin, and Skye's hair turned into its neutral brown.
"Adorable!" she said with a grin, looking back at Lee. "How does Uncle Blaine interact with him? Is that more awkward or equally adorable? Because....honestly I can see it going either way," she asked, a finger twirling her hair for a moment.
”It’s…” Lee said slowly at first, eyes unfocusing as she thought back to the day Blaine and Kevin had met, another day the following week where she had gotten Blaine out to the park with her and Kevin for a snowball fight. And as she thought, a smile grew on her face. ”It’s a bit of both, actually. It’s awkward because he’s trying so hard, but I think that’s cause he’s really not sure how to act around Kevin. But I think that’s part of what makes it adorable.
“And Kevin’s fascinated with Blaine,” Lee continued, looking back over at Skye. ”I keep catching him poking at Blaine every so often, testing.”
"I can kind of see that," she answered with an amused giggle, bringing her left foot to rest on her right thigh.
At the mention of Kevin "testing" Blaine, Skye's hair turned a bright orange as she laughed, her hands radiating an orange glow as she did. The image of a kid walking around poking the large musclebound man with whatever he could find was funnier than Skye'd thought it probably should be. "That, I'd actually like to see," she said once the laughing and the light had died down.
Lee heard Skye giggle, and her own smile widened. ”It’s pretty damn cute seeing him get down to Kevin’s level to talk with him,” Lee said, thinking back to the snowball fight when Blaine had knelt down in the snow to talk with Kevin. That had been pretty cute and adorable, even if the two of them had been plotting how to ambush her.
And Skye would like to see Kevin testing Blaine. Now it was Lee’s turn to laugh a bit. ”Some of the things he comes up with are pretty entertaining,” Lee agreed. ”It makes it harder to tell him to stop, but we can’t really have Kevin poking your uncle in the back with a stick while walking down the street.”

Her smile and her orange hair remained as she listened to Lee talk about Blaine trying to get on Kevin's level. It was...rather adorable to imagine.
"He sounds like a clever kid," she said with a small snort as she giggled again. "But yeah, I can imagine how that could cause a few problems," she murmured lightly, settling in on the couch again. She was completely relaxed, but the orange glow of happiness didn't fade. If anything, the room flickered orange a little bit.
After a moment, she stood up. "I'm going to get something to drink; you want me to bring you anything?" she asked before heading to the kitchen to grab a soda.
Lee noticed that Skye’s hair, and the light, seemed to be staying orange now. Contentment, amusement, happiness? Lee wasn’t sure which emotion it was for Skye, but Lee filed the information away without even really thinking about it.
”A little too clever at times,” Lee said with a bit of a chuckle of her own. ”And a little too comfortable with trying to figure out all the little details of people’s mutations for someone so young.”
But then Skye said she was going to get a drink. Lee nodded. ”A drink sounds good. Whatever works.”
Which left Lee sitting there for a few moments on her own as the younger girl went to the kitchen. ”How have you been settling in?” Lee asked once Skye returned to the living room. ”Have you met anyone, made any friends yet?”

"Yeah, I've heard kids can be like that. Too smart for their own good. And ours," she replied with another giggle. Once she got to the fridge, she grabbed a couple of sodas and returned to the living room, handing one to Lee before sitting down and popping one open.
"I'm working on it. Still sort of getting used to that job Uncle Blaine helped me get, but I think I've made a couple of friends--acquaintances, at least, but I think I'll fit in nicely sooner or later," she commented. "I found a bookstore that's open 24 hours, so that's pretty cool," she added, sipping her soda a little.
"Still getting used to you two and your funky sleeping schedules, too. I'm not used to that in the slightest."
Lee nodded and opened her can of pop as Skye described how she she had met a few people, and hoped that she’d feel like she fit in soon. That was...a lot better than Lee had ever had, and she was happy about that.
But then Skye commented on how hers and Blaine’s sleep schedules, and Lee simply laughed. ”What, you mean like how I'm normally sleeping right now? The only time I ever have a ‘normal’ sleep schedule is when I live by myself and don't go to bars.”
Lee shrugged, it was true. As long as Lee was working at the bar, Skye, and Blaine for that matter, would never see a ‘normal’ sleep schedule from her. But she was on a schedule that seemed to be working out, where she was able to see everyone she wanted to and sleep.
”But a 24 hour bookstore? That sounds incredible. Is that why you were out all night?”

"Actually...yeah. You and Blaine seem to be night owls, while I'm used to being more of a...sleep til noon, kind of person," she said in response. "Don't you like, work at a bar though? That would require you adopting a weird sleep schedule." She shrugged a little.
Then when Lee mentioned her being out all night, she blushed a little, hair going from orange to purple. "Oh, yeah. It's this old building that's several blocks from here," she said with a slightly nervous giggle, though it did sort of embarrass her for some reason. Blaine and Lee would obviously know that she'd been out all night.
"Pretty much, yeah," she answered after a moment. Maybe she'd buy that's what she'd been doing the whole time. Maybe.
Lee shook her head when Skye said she seemed like a night person. ”Sure, it seems like Blaine is, but for me, it’s simply the energy,” Lee explained. ”And yes, I work at a bar, which is why I am up all night. I mean, between the bar and taking Kevin to school, I could be up all week, but then I crash and it’s not good.”
Lee knew it was possible to wander bookstores and libraries for hours, she had done that very thing herself on a number of occasions. And she might have believed Skye had been at the bookstore all night if it hadn’t been for the blush on Skye’s face. And her hair turning purple; embarrassment, possibly, but Lee was pretty sure that Skye hadn’t been embarrassed every time that her hair had been purple.
”Pretty much?” Lee asked, an eyebrow raised as she looked over at Skye. ”Sounds like there’s more to the story than that.”

Skye nodded, biting her lip a little as she thought. Okay, so maybe Lee's mutation made things a little more complicated when it came to sleeping. Much moreso than having to deal with going to sleep with lights you couldn't turn off sometimes. At least she still had the option to sleep. And eventually, she'd get so tired she just dozed off and the lights didn't bother her. But...this was different.
As the answer to the bookstore question was pressed, Skye's hands began to flicker a little bit as her face flushed a little deeper. "Well, that was mostly what I did," she said, calming her embarrassment at least enough to kill the lights. "I just stayed out. Found someone to...hang with. That sorta thing," she said with a slight shrug before readjusting on the couch a little, pulling her legs up onto the sofa as she took another drink of soda.
That’s what she mostly did? Lee raised an eyebrow at that. It sounded like there was much more to the story than that. ”Someone to hang out with?” Lee asked, though she did turn away from Skye. ”Must have been a rather interesting someone for you to have stayed out all night. In New York City.”
Lee sat in silence and sipped her drink for a few moments. ”I was worried about you.”
"Yeah, I met someone in the bookstore," Skye explained as she settled back into the couch, sipping her soda. "I'm sorry I worried you....I'd texted Uncle Blaine," she said softly, biting her lip.
"I was safe though. I wasn't out alone. She'd offered to walk me back here, and we kinda got...sidetracked," she said, still trying to skirt around the topic but also giving Lee just enough information to know that she was safe--and at least remotely responsible.
"I know I shouldn't even have been out that late, but I was sort of restless, and I get tired of being limited to a couch, ya know?"
Lee listened to Skye and nodded. Yes, she had been worried, but in reality Skye had zero reason to need to answer to her. She may be calling Lee her aunt, but the fact was that Lee was simply just dating her uncle. And had been for only a few weeks.
”It's not so much that you were out,” Lee said slowly, trying to explain. ”This city isn't like it would have been back in Maine. It's a lot more dangerous, especially at night, especially for a young woman like you. Even if you were with someone.”
