The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Blaine was enjoying the change of pace and scenery, as fun as the gym had been, just being able to unwind with her was just as nice. But he thought a moment at her question. "I was thinking we just grab slices; that's what I normally do. But it's up to you," he said after a short pause.
He wasn't really used to being out and about with someone else, especially someone like Lee. He was still wrapping his head around this whole relationship thing, but now he was growing more and more accustomed to it. Now, he couldn't remember how he'd managed all this time on his own. She'd changed him, but....he didn't mind.
Blaine took a few moments to think, and while she waited Lee lifted her head off his shoulder and looked up at him. And he said that while he normally just grabbed slices, he would leave the decision up to her.
Lee nodded, about to turn to look at the counter when she realized something and turned back to Blaine. ”You know what?” Lee asked, a small crease between her brows. ”I don’t even know what you like on pizza. I’m pretty easy going, as long as there’s no olives.”
He chuckled, then turned slightly pink at the thought; they knew things about each other that not too many others--if anybody knew, but they really didn't know much about one another when it came to food and simple things like that. Granted now was just as good a time as any to learn, right?
"Olives are weird, and I really can't stomach mushrooms," he admitted, "But everything else is fair game." He gave a slight shrug, his mind wandering again as he looked towards the counter. There were only a few people in front of them now, so time was drawing short. "So, what's the verdict?"
Lee saw the slight blush after Blaine's laugh and tilted her head slightly as she looked at him, wondering what about her question could have made him blush. But she didn't ask. His comment that he couldn't stomach mushrooms was a bit too saddening for that.
But then Blaine said that anything else was fair game, and Lee shot him a teasing, knowing smile. ”You mean I can actually get pineapple on my pizza?” Lee asked, a bit of excitement in her tone. ”It's been forever since i could get pineapple on my pizza with someone else.”
"I actually like pineapple on my pizza," he replied, sticking his tongue out a little. "Granted, the only thing I get when I eat is flavor," he said, his voice a little lower. After all, they were in public. "Also why I'll never cook for you." He gave another shrug, as the line got progressively shorter.
"I also like pepperoni, sausage, salami, ham...peppers, onions...maybe not all at once, of course, little too much going on flavor-wise." He gave a smile as the line grew progressively shorter, and soon there was only one other person between them and the counter. "So...what are you in the mood for?"
Lee was surprised when Blaine said that he liked pineapple on his pizza, and she looked up at him to make sure he wasn’t joking or lying. Though, with how he stuck his tongue out at her, she figured that he was just trying to one up her.
Then he started listing off things that he liked on pizza, and Lee thought for a moment. Normally, she would put mushrooms on with pineapple, so this would take a bit of consideration. Unfortunately, Lee realized as she looked forward again, that they were next in line. A thought that Blaine echoed a moment later when he asked what she was in the mood for.
”Hmm, how about,” Lee said slowly, still thinking. ”Pineapple, ham, and...sausage?” Lee asked Blaine, looking over at him.
"Sounds good to me," he replied with a nod before stepping to the counter and placing their order. Then, after paying for the meal, he gently took her hand in his, walking her to a nearby table before having to let go so they could sit down.
Once he sat down, he looked across at her, still thinking as his eyes met hers. He couldn't help but smile as he sat there, waiting on the pizza to arrive. "So," he said after a few moments, breaking the silence, "Is there anything in particular you'd like me to teach you, training wise? Any type of hold or strike pique your interest?"
Blaine said that her choice sounded good before moving forward to order. And paying for the pizza. Lee had not expected that, she was the one who had suggested food in the first place. Was she going to have to get used to this again? Not that she was upset about it or anything, she hadn't been expecting it.
Then Blaine took her hand and led her to a table. This part, she was sure, she would be able to get used to this far more easily. Though, Lee thought as they reached a table and sat down, she might already be used to it. As Blaine asked if there was anything in particular that she wanted to learn, Lee bit her lip in thought as she absently reached her hand out to loosely grab Blaine’s on the table.
”No nothing in particular,” Lee finally said as she looked at Blaine. ”I mean, I think I really just need practice right now. Though, I think starting to spar at some point would be good, too. Get some real practice in.”
He smiled as he looked down at their hands on the table like that; it was definitely something he'd gotten used to over the short time they'd been together. He never would have seen this coming the day he walked into that bar and asked for a job, but he figured fate was funny that way. Or whatever it was.
Either way, it was nice. As she spoke, he nodded. "I'm pretty sure I can whip you back into shape," he said with a slight smile. "Though no one's ever been quite that eager to step into the ring with me, even if it is practice. I mean, there's a reason Joe only spars with me once a week then leaves right after the fight, he said with a chuckle. "But...practicing with you today, got me looking forward to it."
Lee laughed slightly at Blaine's words. ”Oh, you think you can whip me back into shape?” Lee asked, an eyebrow raised as she looked at Blaine. ”And are you sure you'll be able to keep up with me once you get me into shape?
“And you know what?” Lee continued a moment later. ”I think that's part of why I'm excited to spar. I've always had to hold back when I've sparred. It'd be interesting to actually see what I'm able to do sometime when I wasn't terrified.”
"You're already impressive, so yeah, I'm sure I can get you back into shape. And I'm pretty sure I can manage; I am a professional after all," he answered with a wink. He then gave her a nod, again smiling, though this time his expression was almost excited.
"Yeah, I am too, now that I think about it. I've always been afraid of hurting people, despite being a fighter, but..." he paused a moment, looking at her. "You realize pain is that thing that tells you when to quit, and it acts as sort of a safety switch. I don't have that. I've only ever lost by knockout," he said with another wink. As he thought about it, he realized that given their powers, not only did they compliment each other as a couple...that'd probably be one hell of a sparring match. And mutations were really good at tipping the odds, as he'd learned a long time ago.
About that moment, their pizza was placed on the table in front of them.
Oh, he thought that he’d be able to keep up with her, did he? Lee grinned at Blaine even as he was winking at her. ”You want to go for a run with me one night after work to test that out?” Lee asked. And to be honest, it likely would be a good test. Plus, she might actually be able to sleep that night if she went for a run.
He’d only ever lost by knockout? ”Well, I mean, I could arrange that,” Lee said with a slight shrug. ”But in all honesty, that wouldn’t be very fair, or very fun.” After she said that, Lee blinked at herself then shook her head. Even in this situation, how could she be talking about making Blaine pass out from her siphoning with such a joking tone?
Luckily, that thought was interrupted by their pizza being brought to the table. Not hesitating, Lee reached out and grabbed a slice to take a bite. As she ate, Lee thought. Her birthday had already come and gone, which meant that Christmas was literally around the corner. And while she would be seeing her son over the holidays for the first time in years, which was special, he would still be at Tarin’s on Christmas. But what would Blaine think about that? About the idea of her and Christmas in the same sentence?
Swallowing her mouthful of pizza, Lee looked across at Blaine and decided to just throw it all out there. ”Do you have any plans for Christmas?” She asked softly.
He smirked, trying to roll with her teasing this time. "I'm sure there's nothing fair about what I can do. Someone with the same training and muscle mass as me probably wouldn't stand a chance just because I lack that 'safety switch' I mentioned earlier," he replied, taking a slice of pizza and taking a bite. At the same time, something told him this sparring match would be nothing to sneeze at, and may end up being quite the clash.
Oh...right...Christmas. That was a thing people usually did. And he didn't think his usual Christmas plans, which consisted of locking his apartment down and getting black-out drunk for the entirety of the holiday were something she'd wanted to hear. So, instead of telling her this, he merely shook his head. "Nah...I don't really...do Christmas...usually I'd had no one to share it with," he said softly, taking another bite of pizza. He didn't mean to turn the mood like that, but talking about his past or holidays tended to have a negative effect on the atmosphere.
Lee nodded when Blaine mentioned that what he was able to do probably wasn’t very fair, either. ”That’s probably true,” Lee allowed with a bit of a nod. ”Still, I’ll only fall back on that if I get desperate. I mean, I probably should let you stand a chance in your own gym,” Lee finished with a grin and a wink. And it was true, Lee thought. If she were to siphon that much from Blaine, even with his own powers, she honestly didn’t think he’d stand much of a chance of lasting long when they sparred. It did always surprise her just how fast she was able to drop someone that way.
Going back to her slice of pizza as she waited for Blaine to answer about Christmas, she simply nodded at first. ”I haven’t done much the last 5 years, either,” Lee told him, then figured she should probably explain that since she did have a kid. ”Kevin would always come down here to see his father for Christmas, so it’d just be me until he came back after New Years’. But since we’ve moved down here, he won’t be gone for the full two weeks this year, so I was sort of thinking, since I’m going to have to do some sort of Christmas anyway…” Lee’s words just sort of trailed off as she gave a slight shrug.
Why did this sort of thing seem so difficult, yet other things between them that should have been much harder had been simple in reality. It was only as she saw her finger absently scratching at the top of the table that Lee realized her gaze had dropped, so she lifted her eyes to look at Blaine again. ”I mean, I really can’t cook either, but maybe we could figure something out?” She finally asked, her voice soft.
"If you have to resort to that, I'd say I'm pretty damn good," he said, giving her another wink.
His face dropped, thinking about Christmas. "I haven't really celebrated Christmas in about fifteen years. After I moved here, it was almost like I dropped off the face of the planet," he explained, looking down at his plate. But as he pondered what she was saying, it suddenly clicked. "You know..." he looked up and his smile slowly started to come back. "I'd love to do something for Christmas with you," he murmured softly, before finishing his slice of pizza and grabbing another.
"And yeah...my cooking is kind of....weird...or so I'm told."
