The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Oh I'm sure you could," he answered, still looking at her. "I just don't know what you're capable of, though I'm getting an idea. And the more you can add to your bag of tricks, the better."
He smiled as she turned to face him, and gave a slight shrug. "I may rely mostly on punches, but I've got a few secrets in my bag of tricks, too."
As he said that he was starting to get an idea of what she was capable of, Lee's smile took on a slightly sad note. ”Hopefully there's never a need for you to find out everything I'm capable of,” Lee said before her voice took ona teasing tone once more. ”But if you don't want me to hand your *ss to you when you finally decide I can spar with you, your not going to want to hold back.”
"You know...I would be somewhat hurt by that statement," he started, but then he smirked. "But from you, I can let that slide," he teased, giving her a slight wink before he added, "Besides, that air of confidence looks sexy on you." He spoke quieter that time, so no one could hear it but her. After all, they weren't the only ones in the gym that afternoon.
Though, from the looks of her training today, maybe he wouldn't have to hold back. In fact, she may force him to dig deeper into his aforementioned bag of tricks. "Part of me is kind of looking forward to it," he admitted after a few moments thought. Now that he knew she was just teasing, he made sure to steel his ego a little more from now on. Though what if she really could kick his ass?
Eh, if she did, she'd probably make it up to him later.
Lee simply grinned when Blaine said that from her, he'd let that statement slide. But as he continued, even though his voice had lowered, Lee still blushed as she heard his words.
A minute later, Blaine said he was actually starting to look forward to sparring with her, a big change of direction from before, and Lee grinned at him even though there was still a touch of her previous blush on her face. ”Good, because I get very bored with this kind of training really quickly,” Lee said, indicating the punching bags. ”But I'm not quite ready for that yet, so what's next?”
"That's just because you've never had me for a trainer," he teased again, noting how she blushed at his whispered comment. Well, that was why he whispered it, but she was still adorable when she blushed like that.
He paused when she asked what was next. "Well, is there anything else you think you need work on, or think I can teach you?" he asked, brushing his hair out of his face because part of it had fallen in front of his eye. In the meantime, he thought of something else they could work on.
”Good point” Lee said. So far, despite the fact that they had only done work on the bag, it had been enjoyable enough. Though maybe that had more to do with Blaine being there with her than anything.
But what else did she think she needed to work on? ”Honestly, I wouldn't know where to start,” Lee said. ”It's got to have been at least 8 years since I've been in a gym, so I probably need to work on just about everything. Most of what I learned before was breaking holds.”
He chuckled, looking at her with a smile. "Honestly, I'm not sure where to start either. I normally don't fancy myself a trainer. Mostly I just come in, spar, and hit the bag," he admitted, leaning back as he thought a moment. He was happy that he was getting to do this with her; he really didn't know if he could manage this with anyone else.
"You think you could still break holds?" he asked after awhile. "We could always work on holds and escaping, if you wanted." He gave a soft smile, not remembering the last time he enjoyed training this much.
Blaine wasn't sure what to work on next. That was fair enough, it's not like she had planned on Blaine training her like this. And he normally just sparred and hit the bag.
Could she still break holds? ”There's only one way to find out, isn't there?” Lee asked with a grin, though she was a little worried about how she would do breaking out of holds that Blaine had her in. She depended on pain to get out of a lot of holds, especially at times like this, when she didn't have that much energy. But that didn't curb her desire to try.
”So, where should we do this?” Lee asked with a quick glance around the gym before looking back at Blaine.
He nodded, looking around. "Well, there's some empty mats over there if you want," he replied after a moment. As he led her to one of the mats, his mind was already thinking of his different holds. And most importantly, he was trying to figure out the best way to know when to actually let go.
Part of him wondered why he didn't strive to be a submission specialist, but he figured he wouldn't know when to let go then either. And he didn't fight to hurt people, that just sort of came with the territory. "Alright, let me know when you're ready and we'll see what you got," he said after awhile.
Looking where Blaine indicated, Lee nodded. It was a more open area than where they currently were by the punching bags, but not central like the ring was. ”Yeah, that works,” Lee said with a nod.
As she made her way over to the mats with Blaine, there was a part of Lee that was worried; what was she getting herself into doing this with Blaine of all people after all this time? But the rest of Lee wasn't worried because she realized she trusted Blaine that much. A slightly startling thought with just how short a time they had known each other, but as Lee came to a stop on the mat and looked over at Blaine, she realized it was true. He said he couldn't tell the difference between a tap and a full strength pick because of his lack of feeling, but Lee was not worried about him hurting her while they trained here.
Yeah, this would be good. Shaking herself out a bit too loosen up, Lee nodded to Blaine with a smile. ”I'm good. Let's start.”
"Alright, I'm gonna start off fairly easy, and if I'm too rough, let me know, okay?" Part of him couldn't believe he was doing this, but it was to help her, and he was going to do the best he could because he realized that there wasn't much he wouldn't do for her. After such a short time...he smiled a little at the thought, and then he approached her, his face suddenly all business.
Walking up to her, he put a lot of concentration as he put her in the most basic headlock. Not only was he focusing on the effort he was putting on it, he was also looking at her reactions, body language, and other factors that would give him an idea of how she was doing. "Alright, starting off simple. Guy comes up behind you and gets you in a headlock. Assuming he's not me, what do you do?"
Lee nodded as Blaine asked her to tell him if he was being too rough. Of course she would tell him. The only thing he might have a problem with was the fact that their definitions of what constituted ‘rough’ probably were not the same.
Then Blaine was walking behind her and putting her in a headlock. Without even thinking about it, Lee tucked her chin even as she heard Blaine asking what she would do . Though, apparently she didn't need to since he was leaving enough space so she could not only still breath readily, bit could even still talk.
”First, try to catch his arm before he gets a good enough grip so I can pull it away,” Lee said as she reached up and slipped her fingers between Blaine's arm and her throat. ”If that doesn't work, elbow back to his ribs and stomach,” Lee continued, doing so with her arm, though there was no power behind it.
He sort of smiled when he saw her instinctively tuck her chin, which would make it harder for him to get the move locked on in the first place, after she described what she would do--and even he could tell she wasn't putting anything behind it, he let go. "Okay, that's good, but what about...." Then, still behind her, he slipped his arms under hers, clasping his hands together behind her neck in a full nelson. He was applying a little bit of pressure here, but not enough to hurt; it didn't change the fact that she'd be trapped, and he had it tight enough where she couldn't just slip out--as amusing as that would be to watch.
"Okay, now you've got a little less freedom, and your attacker has more control over you this way. Show me what you do," he instructed. He could still see her every move, and she could still talk if she wanted to, however it would take a little effort. He didn't do anything with this but hold her there, after all, he wasn't trying to manhandle her or anything; this was just a basic assessment so far.
As soon as she finished describe what she would do to get out of the heal, Blaine released her. He didn't waste any time, though, and almost immediately had moved on to the next hold. And while she knew that it was nowhere near as strong as he would use against anyone else, as Lee felt her head being pushed forward a bit, she was glad that he was putting some effort in. Because really, what was the point in learning this, in training and practicing if the person holding her was going as easy on her as Blaine had with the headlock?
By this point, even though only a second or two had passed, Lee's arms were pretty useless, up in the air as they were because of the hold. A hold which, whether Blaine realized it out not, was pushing her head down a fair bit. So Lee bent her elbows, bringing her hands on from of her face as she closed her eyes in concentration. She couldn't just break this hold, she knew, and since Blaine was actually putting some effort into it, Lee knew she wouldn't be able to just slip out.
Then Lee remembered, and was moving even as Blaine was saying to show him. Popping her hip out to the side as far as she could, Lee took her opposite leg and stepped it behind Blaine's legs, bending down a bit as she moved. Grabbing Blaine's legs, Lee then lifted as she straightened, trying to brace herself for the impact as she moved.
Blaine was watching as he kept the hold locked in, but being unable to feel combined with her position left him unsure of what she was up to. However, before he realized what had happened, he was on his back and his grip on the hold loosened.
A laugh escaped his lips; the fact that she took him down like that was actually quite attractive to him. The fact that she was tough on top of everything else...he found himself falling quite hard for her--both figuratively and literally, at the moment.
However, he wasn't done. His legs wrapped around her waist before locking on a sleeper hold; he wasn't applying enough pressure to choke her out, but escape wouldn't be easy. "Okay, now what?" he whispered.
