The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Though Lee’s eyes were still looking down at the guitar when she heard Blaine answered her question, but she grinned when she heard. ”Thanks. I’ve always been my worst critic. Between music tests, recitals, and the odd competition when I was growing up, I was always trying to play or sing perfectly. Even now, any little mistake…” Lee shook her head at herself before looking at Blaine again. At least her blush had faded a bit. ”Old habits die hard.”
Blaine took a few moments to think about what song to request. Lee wasn’t sure if he knew how important this question was, or if he was just having trouble making a decision. But then he did name a song. Almost immediately, Lee’s brow creased and her lip went between her teeth in thought as she turned back to her guitar. Strumming a few different chords, then plucking a couple of notes, Lee frowned, her lip still between her teeth. Another couple chord attempts, then Lee shook her head.
But rather than telling Blaine she couldn’t play it, Lee closed her eyes thinking for a few moments. Then she started to sing, letting her guitar stay silent. She knew the song, afterall, she just hadn’t learned to play it.
I'm looking at you through the glass Don't know how much time has passed Oh God, it feels like forever But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home Sitting all alone inside your head
As she sang, Lee started tapping out the rhythm on the wood of the guitar.
He nodded. "I understand; I'm the same way with both my drawing and my fighting. Moreso my drawing. Fighting, I just focus on delivering an attack...not so much defense." he shrugged lightly; he never put much thought into a defensive style because he didn't hurt.
He noticed her blush was starting to fade a little, and then she processed his request. From his standpoint, it looked like she didn't know it. From her brow creasing, to her shaking her head, he didn't think she was going to do it, but then, she simply started singing, and tapping the rhythm on the guitar. His smile widened seeing that she didn't give up; he really liked that. His eyes focused on her as she sang, but they slowly drifted closed as he got lost in the music, letting her voice carry him.
It was one of his favorite songs, and hearing it this way just seemed to make it that much better.
He understood how she was her own worst critic because he said that he was his, with both his drawing and fighting. Lee nodded, at least until he said that he didn’t worry about having a defense while fighting. At that, Lee shook her head slightly. ”I guess we’re opposites, there,” Lee said. ”I mostly learned defense methods.”
As she was coming to the end of the song, Lee finally opened her eyes and looked over at Blaine. To see that his eyes were closed as she was singing. Lee smiled as she sang the last few words, then sat there and just looked at Blaine’s face for a moment. ”I’ve never tried playing that one before,” she told him with a shrug. ”But I have heard it once or twice.”
He nodded in understanding as she mentioned that she mostly learned defensive techniques. To him, it made perfect sense. Defense wasn't a bad thing, it was just something he didn't think he needed because most of the time he'd have the fight won before they could do enough damage without knocking him out.
As her voice drifted and the song ended, he let his eyes open slowly, focusing on her again. "I could tell you at least know the lyrics," he replied with a chuckle. "You did an amazing job there," he complimented again with a nod. "I'm glad you chose to share it with me..." his voice trailed off for a moment, but only because he didn't know where to go from there, and this whole sharing emotions bit was still fairly new to him; the last time he'd done it, he didn't even mean to. "You really do have talent," he finally said to finish his statement.
”Well, If we’re really getting to know each other, I’d either have had to show you this at some point, or I wouldn’t really be showing you who I am.” Lee shrugged slightly before she turned back to Blaine and continued. ”Plus, when it doesn’t feel like I’m working 24/7, I’ve always got music in my day somehow, even if I’m just zoning out listening to something.” Then Lee grinned at Blaine when he said that she had talent. ”I should hope so after taking voice lessons for 8 years,” Lee replied. ”Otherwise, my parents wasted a lot of money.”
Taking a deep breath, Lee sat there smiling slightly as she started playing around with the guitar again. Not really playing anything, just sort of strumming away with random notes until a song emerged.
Blaine nodded, mentally noting that this kind of thing tended to go both ways; now they had both shared a piece of who they were, that few others would get to see. "Yeah, I tend to do the same with music, even if I don't play. It helps to just soak it in, and then when I need it, which is usually during a workout or a fight, a certain song will replay in my head and that's how I set my rhythm." He gave a soft smile, though their passions were different, they did share some common ground at least, and to his knowledge, that was good.
"Well, it was money well spent," he confirmed, then she started playing again, and he resumed his position, watching and listening intently as she played. This time, he didn't recognize the song, but it didn't take him long to realize she was making it up. It was sweet, and it was something he could easily get used to.
Lee smiled as Blaine talked about how he would just sit and let himself become lost in music, and how later he could draw on that. But then her smile turned more teasing. ”It’s a good thing you like music so much,” Lee told Blaine. ”I’m honestly not sure I could be with someone if they didn’t like music.”
As she sat there playing, Lee couldn’t help but think that this was nice. Just sitting here, just being together, sharing with each other. Simply spending time with each other. Though they hadn’t known each other long, Lee was glad that they had somehow had that very strange conversation a week earlier.
”So what do you think about this?” Lee asked after a few moments, looking up at Blaine with a one sided smile. ”This whole relationship thing isn’t so bad, is it?”
He chuckled, shaking his head slightly. "Honestly, I don't see how anyone could not like music..." he said with a small shrug.
"It's...different," he answered. "It's going to take some getting used to, for sure, but...I have to say I'm liking it so far. Though I also think the fact that we hit it off so well at first also helps alot," he added as he slid back onto the couch, relaxing again.
It was a new experience, and though certain parts of the whole relationship thing made him potentially nervous, right now, he felt like everything was okay. And the content expression on his face as he leaned back a little showed just how happy he was right at that moment.
It was different? Well, Lee thought, that was understandable, considering that Blaine said he’d never really done anything like this before. But Lee smiled when he said that he liked it so far. She was liking it so far, too. ”You know, a lot of a relationship, at least good ones, is stuff like this,” Lee said softly, the guitar still playing in the background.
Since they had been talking, Lee did notice when Blaine moved this time, sitting and leaning back on the couch once again. But then Lee realized that she had started to play an actual song again. Going back to the start of it again, Lee started singing softly once more.
This won't break your heart But I just think it could Cause I haven't tried as hard as I should To separate you from everything I do But I would never want to come between us two
As she sang, Lee moved slowly on the couch, turning and leaning back so she was laying down on the couch, her head resting on Blaine’s leg. The fact that she didn’t miss a single note showing the experience she had laying down while playing.
"Good," he said quietly. "Because this, I could actually handle." He took a breath; he didn't really expect this to be as easy as it had been, but he was sure that his emotional connection to Lee had a lot to do with it. His eyes started to close peacefully as she sang again; he wasn't falling asleep, just relaxing and taking this all in.
And then, his eyes slowly opened to look at her, and she was lying with her head on his leg, still playing as perfectly as ever. He didn't feel his breath catch a little, or his body sort of tense and freeze, but it wasn't a bad thing, it was just his initial shock, since he hadn't been paying attention. After that brief second, he breathed calmly through his nose as he smiled softly down at her. His gaze on her focused more intently, looking at her face, the way her hair was laying, even the way she held the guitar, still playing as she lay there. His eyes took in every detail they could, trying his best to soak it in and enjoy it. Even though he couldn't feel it, it was nice.
When Blaine said that he could handle more of this kind of thing, Lee smiled at him. That was good. Lee couldn’t help but think that she could handle more of this sort of thing too.
When she laid down, it didn’t really take much for Lee to get comfortable. But from this vantage point, Lee was able to look up at Blaine easily. And saw his tense expression relax into a smile as he looked back down at her.
As the song trailed to a finish, Lee smiled up at Blaine. This really was nice. Comfortable, relaxed. And, Lee thought, it felt good to play for someone who was really appreciating it. So she started playing again, before she started singing. The Hip was always a good choice.
They shot a movie once, in my hometown Everybody was in it, from miles around Out at the speedway, some kind of Elvis thing Well I ain't no movie star But I can get behind anything Yeah I can get behind anything
He is gaze lingered on her eyes as she looked up at him. Blaine wasn't a romantic by any means, but he had to admit he liked this, even if he didn't really know what to do. He was so far into uncharted territory he couldn't see the way back, but...a part of him didn't want to. After all, it was just the two of them here, and even though this was strange and new....he felt safe.
She started her next song, and he let his eyes drift from her eyes down to her guitar. The way she played, even while lying down was so graceful. He kept his focus on her throughout the song this time, watching her every move as she played and sang. Being short one of his senses did sort of put more focus on the other four, so he was a lot more attentive than most people, even if his other senses were just average.
He relaxed even more, practically melting into the couch as he finally pulled his gaze away to look ahead of him, at the wall, letting himself just get lost in her voice as she sang.
For a good portion of the song, Lee looked back up at Blaine as he stared down at her. In a way, this was a little weird, not because she was laying on Blaine’s lap like this, that was nice and actually comfortable feeling. No, it felt a little weird because Lee normally didn’t keep her eyes open this long while she sang. Normally, her eyes would drift closed as she would get lost in the music.
Sometimes the faster it gets The less you need to know But you gotta remember The smarter it gets The further its gonna go When you blow at high dough When you blow at high dough
Still, even though she had been trying to keep her eyes open to look at Blaine, eventually Lee’s eyes did drift shut. And as the song ended, Lee kept her eyes closed for another few moments. ”Have you heard the Tragically Hip before?” Lee finally asked, looking back up to Blaine. Just because they had been The Canadian band, didn’t mean that they were popular down here in the States.
He shook his head as she spoke after the song ended. "I can't say that I have, actually," he admitted. "Though if they do half as good as you did, I'll be sure to check them out," he added with a small smirk as he looked down at her.
Now that the song was over, Blaine found himself feeling a little awkward. Despite, or maybe because of, his mutation, he didn't quite know what to do with his hands. In the end, he just ended up propping his arms up on the back of the couch as he looked down at her again. Though it was strange and unknown, he liked it so far. Then again, music had a way of calming him, and of bringing people together.
He let out a contented breath as he finally spoke again. "You know...I don't know if I said this yet, but thanks for doing this. Well, everything."
Lee nodded when Blaine said that he hadn’t heard of The Hip before. In a way it made sense. Though a lot of other big bands from Canada did make it into the US and gained a following there too, the Tragically Hip was just so Canadian, it made sense that he hadn’t heard of them before.
”Well, I guess I’ll just have to educate you,” Lee told Blaine with a grin, the guitar silent at the moment. ”But if we’re doing that, we should probably add in the Barenaked Ladies, too. And Finger Eleven if you haven’t heard of them, either.”
Then Lee just lay there in silence, relaxing. Until Lee heard Blaine speak again. Then Lee was confused, and she looked up at Blaine with a crease between her brows. ”For what?” Lee asked, still confused. ”I mean, you’re welcome, but I’m not quite sure what you’re thanking me for.”
