The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

No. One simple word, but it told her a lot. He had never meant this to last any longer than simply today. He worked in one night stands. No emotions, no attachment. She gave a nod, just a single nod, a sad smile on her face.
And then Russel said what bar he was playing at, and told her the time. Lee blinked. Really, what were the chances? But, he either actually was playing there on Saturday, or Russel had played there before, how else would he be able to put Matt's name together with the bar?
Taking a deep breath and letting it out in a sigh, Lee crossed her arms on Russel's chest and rested her chin on her hand. ”You do know that it doesn't need to mean serious when I say ‘long term’.” Lee said softly, that same, sad little smile still on her face. ”I've had serious and life changing, and I know that I'm never going to find that again. But this,” Lee lifted her head a bit and pointed the finger at the two of them. ”This has been fun, and I wouldn't mind doing it again in the future.
“Though,” Lee continued, and a bit of a teasing smirk appeared on her face. ”If you don't change your mind and still want to keep this as a one day only thing, I suppose I could always just go home with Matt instead.”

He sighed again. "That...makes me feel a little better, honestly," he admitted. "I've never really been good at the whole...serious thing. I mean I've tried but...I've found I only get hurt in the end." He glanced over at her from time to time, but didn't make eye contact. This was why he was normally long gone by now. After that, it tended to get...weird and...feelings...got involved. Jay never really was for the whole emotion thing; showing emotion was how you got hurt, after all.
"It has been fun," he said as a coy smile stretched across his lips and he finally looked back over at her. "I mean, if that's your type, go for it. But I gotta say I wouldn't mind doing this again." he winked, adjusting on the couch so he was more settled in, his arm still resting on her back as he propped his other arm behind his head.
Lee was right, it was the emotions and attachment that had made Russel freeze earlier when she used the words ‘long term’ and why just now he had told her that he hadn't actually meant for them to go anywhere after today. But, it appeared, he wasn't against the idea of future encounters as long as she wasn't thinking relationship.
Then he agreed that this had been fun, and Lee grinned. ”Good. Cause I think It'd be far more fun to dress up, flirt with Matt, and then walk out with you.” The smile still on her face, Lee leaned down to give Russel a soft kiss. ”Plus, I'm sure we can manage to have a repeat of this after the bar.”

He felt his smile coming back in full as he returned the kiss. "Just don't hurt the guy too bad. I mean, he is the one signing my paycheck Saturday," he quipped with a light smirk. He liked the way she thought, that was for sure. "Now that's an idea I can get behind," he said, leaning towards her a little as his other wrapped around her.
His eyes threatened to close again, just remaining half-open for a bit as he got comfortable. All of his previous tension and nervousness had now passed since she said she wasn't looking for anything serious, so now, he was back to being content. As his eyes began to close completely, he was interrupted by an....alarm? Of some sort?
Now Russel was concerned, saying not to hurt Matt to bad because he was the one signing the pay cheque for the gig Saturday night. Though he did have a smirk on his face as he said it, so Lee really wasn't all that sure how serious the man was. Not that Lee was serious about actually hurting Matt, it was just what they did with each other, flirt with each other, though nothing had ever actually come of it.
Lee was just relaxing again when she heard her alarm going off. She heard Russel's question about what the noise was, but all Lee could do at first was swear under her breath as she let her head drop back onto Russel's shoulder.
”I need to pick Kevin up soon,” Lee said with a bit of a sigh. ”We still have a bit of time, but yeah…”

Oh right, Kevin. After all, the little guy was technically the catalyst for this whole thing. After all, he was the one who convinced Lee to take the 'puppy' home in the first place, so Jay figured he at the very least owed the kid a high five. But she lay down on his shoulder, stating they did have a little time. Though Lee wasn't the only one who swore, he just did all of his mentally.
"I understand," he said softly, kissing her on the cheek. "He really is a sweet kid, by the way. So...I guess you're going to tell him the puppy's owner came?" he asked, deciding to try to cover that base before he left. Though he'd thought about just vanishing, he couldn't bear the idea of hurting a little kid. Jay's morals may have been skewed, but he had a soft spot for children, especially those under ten. He never wanted to hurt a child, even by proxy. So in that sense...maybe he did care a little.
As Lee lay there for a few moments after saying she had to go pick Kevin up shortly, she felt a kiss on her cheek and couldn't stop the smile from appearing on her face. But then Russel went on, asking what age was going to tell her son. After thinking for a second, Lee nodded against his shoulder. ”Yeah, that's probably the best way,” she said softly. ”Even if he does actually meet you at some point, is probably best if he doesn't know you were the dog he found.”
Closing her mouth, Lee just lay there for a minute, just enjoying the feeling of Russel laying beside her, not wanting to return to the real world yet. But finally, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. ”We should probably get dressed,” she said softly. But it still took her a few moments before she started moving, slowly climbing of the couch.

He gave a soft sigh; Jay had grown quite comfortable laying here like this. But, the fun was over now, and there were lives to get back to. "Yeah, good point. I mean, I have no idea how I would react if I discovered one of my childhood dogs was really a dude." he gave a dry chuckle as he finally stood up.
He sort of groaned as she stood up; though he knew this had come to an end for the day, he didn't necessarily want it to. But reluctantly, he stood to his feet and gathered his clothes. Occasionally he'd steal one last glance at her as he was getting dressed. Slinging the bag over his shoulder once he was fully clothed, Jay walked over to her.
"Until we meet again," he said with a small smile before giving her one more kiss for the road. "Oh, uh...I shoulda told you this before we slept together, but...it slipped my mind. My name is Jay." He gave a sheepish grin. "If I had known you weren't going to call the cops on me, I'd have given you the real one." He gave sort of an apologetic look.
After a moment, he slowly turned and left the apartment, walking out the front door and down the street. He opted to take the long way home, staying in human shift. After all, it was quite a walk, and he needed what energy he had left.
Lee was up off the couch, looking for her clothes to get redressed, but at the moment it didn't look like Russel was really happy about the prospect. Not that she blamed him, it had been incredibly nice just relaxing there on the couch with him, just add the previous activities had been incredibly nice.
It really didn't take Lee long to grab her clothes and start to get dressed once again, things had not been scattered nearly as far as had sometimes been Lee's experience. It didn't take long to put everything back on, minutes the shirt since she'd have to grab a new one anyway after doing buttons off earlier.
By this point, Russel was up and dressed as well, which left Lee standing there feeling a little awkward, not knowing what to say or do at this point. Thankfully, Russel solved that problem for her when he walked over to her with a smile. Returning it, Lee smiled even wider when he said he'd see her again.
But that smile disappeared when he started speaking again after the kiss. His name was Jay, not Russel like he had said? Yeah, that would have been a good time to tell her. Or any time before now.
At least he did look… Remorseful that he hadn't told her before now.
And then he was turning and walking out the door. For a full minute as she stood and stared at the closed door to the apartment, Lee could feel her anger building. Then, her mind started going through everything that had happened that day. She had been very angry to start with, and though Lee's first thoughts wouldn't have been been the police, she hadn't been been feeling too kind toward him.
Ok, Lee thought with a frown, maybe there had been a reason for him to not be honest to start with. And if Lee was being honest with herself, there really hadn't been all that much talking happening between them most of the time. But he had told her. And, even after admitting that he wasn't actually planning on seeing her again after that day, he had told her where he was playing on Saturday night and given her a kiss after saying goodbye. He could have simply walked out.
Grabbing her shirt, she made her way to get bedroom get a new one. Maybe Jay had had a reason, at first, to hide his name. Didn't mean she liked it, but she could at least partially understand it.
