The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

'Thinking properly' technically wasn't something that was in Jay's repertoire, so he really didn't have too many issues with what was going on. Sure, they had just met, and the way they met was...sketchy at best, but a lot of things Jay did were sketchy. So in reality, he wasn't really that worried.
Though her intensity did startle him just a little, maybe even had him a little scared.
But the next thing he knew, her forehead was resting against his as they both breathed heavily. He kept his arms loosely around her as she spoke, her words once again catching him off guard. She'd seemed to be doing that a lot today. Not that it was that hard. He let his eyes close as well, steadying his breathing.
"Are you sure?" he asked quietly; normally he wasn't the voice of reason, but right now it seemed to be in both of their best interests if he made sure.
As they both sat there, trying to catch their breath, Lee felt Russel's arms still around her. Not holding her tightly, not hugging her close to him, but still there.
And then Lee heard Russel speak, just three simple, quiet words, but she pulled back a bit and opened her eyes, just staring at Russel's face. Whether he knew it or not, that question helped Lee make her decision.
Was she sure? ”No,” Lee said with a slight shake off her head. ”But to hell with it…” Her words trailed off as Lee leaned in for another kiss as her hands stopped down to Russel's waist, starting to pull his shirt up.

Their eyes met, but her answer wasn't remotely what he was expecting. Well, the first half was, but...well, as far as he knew he was never really in control of this situation anyway. He easily let her pull his shirt up before leaning in to complete the kiss as he let his own hands trail down to her own shirt-tail.
Part of him began to question this, thinking back to what she'd mentioned about her mutation. This wasn't going to come back to bite him later, was it? Ah well, he had tried to talk her out of it. Now...well, it was out of his hands.
Russel didn't say anything, but he didn't stop her from lifting his shirt. And when Lee felt his fingers slip under the hem of her shirt against her skin, she shivered. Breaking the kiss long enough to tug Russel's t-shirt over his head, dropping it on the floor before wrapping her arms around Russel again.
Though this was not the first time she had felt his bare skin that day, Lee's heart beat faster as her hands clutched at his shoulders holding herself close to him as they kissed.

Though this wasn't the first time he felt her hands on his skin, he enjoyed it more this time as there wasn't any uncertainty at this moment. He let his hands just rest on her lower back as she pulled him closer, and he pressed into her, his own heart starting to race. His mind was racing faster than his heart, but he really didn't care at the moment.
He had to admit, he liked this new side of her that he was seeing. He gently tugged on her shirt before briefly breaking the kiss. He gave another signature wink.
Russel had his hands on her back, but that seemed to be all he was doing with them at the moment. She'd taken his shirt off, but he had simply slipped his hands under hers.
So when Russel pulled back from the kiss, Lee moved her hands, away from his back and to the front of her shirt, trying to quickly undo the buttons on her blouse. Though apparently her hands were shaking a bit, and it was frustratingly slow work. So much so that in her haste, Lee actually popped the last two buttons off.
Then Lee Lee's arms were wrapping around Russel's neck again as she leaned in to kiss him once more.

He noted her frustration, though honestly, he didn't quite know if there was anything he could to to help with that, so he just sort of let his hands slip under her blouse to rub her back. Maybe it would relax her. And then the buttons popped off and he wasn't quite sure how to react to that one, so he was very thankful when she kissed him again.
_____________
Jay lay on the couch, heart still threatening to pound out of his chest and sounding like an old washing machine. He looked up at the ceiling as his head lay against the arm-rest of the couch, breath heavy. His eyes started to close as he relaxed, an idle smirk plastered on his face.
Lee's heart was pounding on her chest, her breathing still heavy, as she lay on the couch her head on Russel's shoulder. She could feel the beating of his heart under her. Reaching her hand up and behind her, Lee pulled a blanket down over them, covering them as best she could without really moving.
Letting her eyes slip shut, a happy smile on her face, Lee thought back to what had happened. None of it had been planned, even after they had first kissed, Lee wouldn't have thought all of this would have occurred.
But she wasn't upset about it, not at all.
Slowly, Lee's breathing was returning to normal. Maybe it was time to start that whole getting to know each other a bit. Keeping her eyes closed, Lee spoke softly.”So you have a gig this weekend?”

Jay wasn't even entirely sure how it happened, but there they were, cuddled up on the couch. And Lee pulled a blanket over them both. He kept his eyes closed for a spell, steadying his breath as his heart rate slowly began to return to normal. He let a hand idly rest on her back, fingers tracing the skin gently.
His eyes cracked open a little as she spoke, and he looked at her from the corner of his eye--what he could see between his peripheral and the blanket, anyway.
"Yeah, I'm playing at a bar Saturday night with a cover band. They sort of span from classic rock to the current hits. A little something for everyone. The lead vocalist is kind of a prick, but eh, it doesn't pay too bad." He gave a light chuckle.
With the blanket now at least partially covering them, Lee let her hand come to rest on Russel's other shoulder, her arm laying across his chest.
And then he started telling her about his gig on Saturday night. Classic rock to modern hits? That sounded promising, as long as the band was decent. Lee nodded slightly against Russel's shoulder.
”If I can get out Saturday, maybe I'll stop by, see how good you are,” Lee said as her fingers started to lightly run along the edge of his shoulder. ”If you don't mind, of course. Grab a beer or two between sets.” As Lee finished speaking, she finally opened her eyes, tilting her head up a bit too look at Russel.

"Great," he replied softly, "Look forward to seeing you." His hand idly ran up and down her back, gently tracing her spine as he spoke, and even after he'd finished. But then, he had a realization. Bands always did an introduction, so he'd have to make sure they introduced him by the alias he'd been using today. But what was it, again? Kurt? Rory? Mitchell...? Russel. Right. He'd definitely have to make a note of that. Or maybe everything would work out fine.
He pushed the thoughts from his head; he had a few days to think of that. Hell, she may not even show. But right now, they were cuddled up on the couch, and that was all that mattered at the moment. His hand moved to run through her hair again as he just idly looked up at the ceiling. And then he glanced over to see her looking up at him, and he leaned down, giving her a quick peck on the forehead.
Russel actually seemed alright with the thought of her coming to see him play that weekend. And, his hand was running up and down her back, she realized with a slight shiver. Those fingers trailing up and down her spine really did feel rather good. Her own hand kept moving as well, fingers ghosting along from the edge of his shoulder over to his collarbone as Lee felt a hand moving up to brush through her hair.
Followed by a soft kiss on her forehead. Lee smiled. She would have to go for a run later on, at least if she wanted to have any chance of sleeping that night, but for the moment Lee was content to just lay there like they were for the moment.
Letting her eyes slip closed again, Lee relaxed relaxed as she felt the fingers continue to brush her hair. ”So, what else do you do in your spare time?”

He relaxed more, settling against her. He was content just to stay like this for awhile; he had to admit he was quite enjoying it, especially the way her hands trailed from his shoulder to collarbone.
And then, the silence was broken. "I like to run, especially in shift. Or just hang out in the park and watch dogs.Just something about the freedom...the fresh air running through my fur... " He gave a soft smile as his eyes closed, actually being honest with her that time.
Lee nodded, closing her eyes again as she heard Russel speak. Considering he had said a few times that he had run track, the fact that he liked to run in his free time wasn't all that surprising. And spending time in the park, Lee could definitely understand that.
”I haven't gone running in years,” Lee mused softly. ”I'll probably end up going for one tonight, though.”
Then Lee just lay there with Russel, her eyes still closed. But he wasn't saying anything, simply answering her questions, and the answers seemed to be about as short as he could make them.
After another minute of silence, Lee leaned up so she could actually look at Russel. ”You're not actually planning on this going anywhere, are you?” Lee asked. There wasn't any anger in her voice, but she had a slight frown since she could guess what the answer was. ”Were you going to even tell me the right bar for Saturday?”

He listened to her, still relaxing and content as he could be. And then, he opened his eyes and they just so happened to meet hers as she spoke. Point blank question, and she basically had him. After all, they were sort of snuggled together under a blanket. No escape.
He let out a deep breath as he looked at her frowning face. "No..." he murmured softly, almost ashamed, but instead of looking away, his eyes stayed locked on hers. "But I am playing the Trasheteria Saturday. Six thirty. You can call there and ask the owner," he said calmly, doing the most decent thing he'd done all day--or in quite awhile for that matter. "His name is Mike. Mike DeVries, if I'm not mistaken. He wouldn't know me personally, but he'd know Nyctomania. That's the band name." He looked away from her at that moment, sure that she wasn't going to be happy, even if he did show a shred of decency.
