The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Even after being rescued from SUPER and brought back to her own universe ('the real world', as Sveta could not help but think of it), Svetlana could not forget about the doctor that she almost helped SUPER kindap, and the very same doctor that ultimately helped her escape. She was a human who worked with mutants, and protected the people that helped in her research; she was smart, and risked her own life to give Sveta a chance at freedom. She went off the radar after she got away, but the more time Sveta spent at Haven, the more she wanted to try and look her up again. Just to make sure that Zelda did not end up in SUPER custody after all.
Since she had no idea how to find someone who did not want to be found, Sveta ended up starting her search at the only place she knew: the Mansion. She had not been there for a long time; she did not visit often, due to her powers, but she still ha contacts there, and she thought that if anyone took in a human doctor who was helping mutants... the Mansion might just know about it. She was right.
Once she cinfirmed who she was and why she wanted to talk to Zelda, setting up a meeting was relatively easy. It was a nice, warm autumn day, so Sveta proposed to meet on the Mansion grounds instead of inside the building. They could walk and talk, and be away from the students. Arriving to the gates and walking in, Sveta could not help but feel a pang of nostalgia. Haven was her home now, but she still had memories from the Mansion... She glanced around, looking for Zelda.

It had been a long, hard few months. Zelda couldn't believe she had made it out alive, with her long lost son, and with a new job at the Mansion. Her research was lost but she had made some good progress. She wrote a report and gave it to her supervisor before officially shutting down the project - a massive text was sent to all volunteers that the data had been compromised and to watch out for themselves. She was pretty sure SUPER had no way to find out who they were but she had no idea. She initially had tried to go on as normal, with a few exceptions. She immediately stopped accepting new volunteers and she was careful to make sure that her current back stories for her volunteers wouldn't be in anyway traceable to the real person. As far as she could tell, SUPER never found any of them.
She remembered when she deleted and through all the samples away - she nearly cried. It was months of hard research, research that could have made a difference - but, it was too dangerous. Too dangerous to fall into evil powers hands. SUPER had tried to get her to help them but she refused. They messed with her moms head, but ultimately, they decided to leave her alone. Hopefully, they would never be back. Hopefully.
When the Mansion mentioned someone named Sveta was wanting to arrange a meeting with her, Zelda had no idea who they were referring to. After a description from what she explained to them, Zelda knew exactly who it was. That poor girl from our timeline that was kidnapped. She had come to meet? That meant she made it out. Yes!
Zelda dropped Abel off about 10 minutes before her proposed meeting time with Sveta at his classroom and then she headed out to the courtyard. It was a beautiful, warm autumn day. She was so glad that Sveta made it out. As she walked out of the building, she saw Sveta a little bit aways and she quickly walked over to her.
She gave a smile as she reached the woman and she immediately rushed to give her a hug. Maybe it was too forward, but Zelda was just so happy that she made it out, "Thank God, you made it back!"
Zelda was on time for their meeting (Sveta did not expect anything less from the scientist). She was not sure what to expect from the doctor on their second meeting; the woman had every right to be angry at Sveta for almost getting her caught in the first place, and she would not have been surprised to see Zelda suspicious of her intentions either. But the doctor was neither of those things. In fact, she ran up and hugged Sveta, which made the blonde tense up for a moment before she remembered that Zelda was human.
>>"Thank God, you made it back!"
"You did too" Sveta smiled as they finished hugging "I am glad. And I could not have made it out without you. So... I owe you a huge thanks."

It was great to see Sveta. It was great to know her real name, too. It was also great that she wasn't kidnapped and herself wasn't being threatened by SUPER, at least not anymore. They were both in some pretty serious situations, but they managed to make it out.
She released Sveta from her hug and gave the woman a big smile, "You look good!" Especially for someone recovering from being kidnapped. She wasn't even sure how long it had been now.
She gave her another smile, "It's so good to see you again! It was no problem. Duty as a doctor and all that Hippocratic oath and stuff. Anyways, I owe you a huge thanks too. If you hadn't tipped me off, who knows if I'd been able to get the word out to my volunteer's in time." She motioned to the path, "Have you been here before?" She thought she had, but she had no real idea if she had or not.
They hugged, and thanked each other for getting our of SUPER's grip. It had been a joint effort, one that they did not plan one, but one that ended up saving both of them.

"I'm glad" Sveta smiled. The lived of many mutants had been in danger since Zelda's research was threatened. It was good to know that she was smart and competent enough to get all of them to safety before SUPER descended on them. She had been dying to know if her warning had been useful to save them, and now that she knew, she visibly relaxed.
>>"Have you been here before?"
"Yes. I lived here for a while, but figured out my powers were too dangerous to be around dis many mutants, so I moved out." Sveta sighed "You?"

Sveta was a good person. Zelda could tell when she first met her. It made her heart warm that she went so far out of her way, put herself in so many danger, to help Zelda and her volunteers stay safe. Zelda was so grateful she had made it out safely and back into her home universe.
>> Yes. I lived here for a while, but figured out my powers were too dangerous to be around dis many mutants, so I moved out. You?"
She gave her a big smile and motioned ahead as she started to walk. She nodded, "That definitely makes sense. I can imagine that there could have been some accidents." She sighed, thinking about where to begin with her story, "Well, SUPER tried to get me to help them. They had one that messed with my mother's head," she shook her head, not wanting to go into the details about the memory, "She recovered, but I moved her somewhere else more discreet. Just to be safe. Anyways, I had a few connections here, so I just ended up here. I couldn't work at the hospital anymore. Not to mention, I found my long lost son..." She smiled, thinking of Abel. "Anyways, this is just where I landed, I suppose."
Sveta had always been hesitant about being at the Mansion. It was a wonderful place, but she also had to constantly be alert about meeting people, or accidentally running into someone whose powers could go off. She appreciated the place in theory, but in practice, it was never going to be a comfortable home for her, like Haven was becoming. Still, she was happy Zelda had found it.

Sveta arched an eyebrow at the last bit.
"You have a son?..." a long lost son, apparently. There had to be a story there. If Zelda was trying to keep a kid save while still running from SUPER, the Mansion was definitely a place to be. But how did she lose and find him? Sveta was curious. "Is he a mutant?..."

>> "You have a son?... Is he a mutant?..."
She nodded, "I do, he's 11. He is, he can send steel shards out of his body." It wasn't a power she was expecting. Her face tugged at a frown, "I gave him up for adoption when he was born. I was in medical school, I just didn't have the time to have a child." Not to mention, she had no idea who the dad was... She had some pretty wild days back then. Yikes.
She turned her focus back to Sveta, though, "How did you escape?! Did your friend help you?" She had destroyed her phone after she had resent the message (three times, to be exact,) to the unknown number. She got an entire new phone plan with a different company then.
Sveta barely knew anything about Zelda, other than her research and that she was brave and smart enough to get away from SUPER. Now that they had the chance to meet under calmer circumstances, she really wondered what kind of a woman she was on her off days. Or as a friend. She mentioned that she had a child, which Sveta found interesting.
>>"I do, he's 11. He is, he can send steel shards out of his body."
Sveta blinked. "Wow." That was not an easy power to have, she imagined, and definitely not an easy situation for a child. Sveta made a mental note never to go near Zelda's kid.
>>"I gave him up for adoption when he was born. I was in medical school, I just didn't have the time to have a child."
It was not an uncommon story, and completely understandable. Sveta nodded. She wanted to ask how she found the kid again, or whether she was raising him again, but she did not feel like she could do so without intruding.
>>"How did you escape?! Did your friend help you?"
"She did." Sveta nodded "Dey came and rescued me. Had to take the tracker out and everything, but... I'm back on this side, so that1s good for now." she tilted her head "So, your research... it's all gone now?"

>> "Wow."
She nodded her agreement. Wow was right. She had no idea her life was going to be taking this serious of turns...
>> "She did. Dey came and rescued me. Had to take the tracker out and everything, but... I'm back on this side, so that1s good for now. So, your research... it's all gone now?"
She smiled. That was good to hear, "That's so good, I'm glad they pulled through. I can't imagine it was easy." She had read online about the trackers, but the rumors were all over the place them, "Where did they put yours in? If you don't mind me asking."
She frowned and nodded, a pained expression crossing her face, "Yeah, it's gone. At least, any pieces they have is corrupted data that will lead them nowhere. I don't know why they backed off on bugging me, though."
>>"That's so good, I'm glad they pulled through. I can't imagine it was easy. Where did they put yours in? If you don't mind me asking."
"Between my shoulder blades." Sveta shrugged; the wound had closed and it did not hurt anymore. It would show as a small scar if someone looked, but she had bigger ones to show off from many other fights and adventures. One more did not matter. "Got lucky. Could have been inside my skull."
And now it was on a stray dog, running around somewhere.
>>"Yeah, it's gone. At least, any pieces they have is corrupted data that will lead them nowhere. I don't know why they backed off on bugging me, though."
"They probably have other things to worry about." Sveta smirked. One of those was probably recovering Nolan. Now that Haven, the X-men, and other people on this side knew about SUPER, it was probably not as easy for them to do their job as it had been before. "You should stay safe, though. I don't think they give up that easily." she paused, then sighed. "I'm sorry. I did not come here to freak you out."

The doctor in Zelda had to come out so, of course, she had to ask, "Can I take a look at the entry site? Is there a scar before they inserted it or only after it was removed... Well, presuming there is even a scar." She may be visited by SUPER again and if so, she'd like to be able to know how to disable those da*n things. She paused, "If you don't mind, of course. Crazy doctor lady here."
Zelda nodded, "Well, they do have a jailbird here," her face turned serious, "How safe are you? Do you need anything?" Zelda felt a connection with the woman, especially after herself going through SUPER's crap.
She nodded and chuckled, "No, I know you didn't. You don't have to apologize - I dug myself in the hole I'm in and I'm making the best of it. I'm just glad to see that you made it out okay." She turned as the path led them towards the back of the mansion, "I have to say, the dark web has been in a flurry with conspiracies about them ever since you got back." She perked a brow, "Anything to do with you?"
>>"Can I take a look at the entry site? Is there a scar before they inserted it or only after it was removed... Well, presuming there is even a scar. If you don't mind, of course. Crazy doctor lady here."
Sveta blinked. Doctor indeed. Zelda could not deny her true self, which was apparently a very, very dedicated scientist. With a chuckle, she turned around and lifted the back of her blouse enough to show her scar. There was no one else around in this part of the Mansion gardens anyway.
"Dey dug it out in a hurry, but at least stitched it up after. I don't really remember how it went in. They had some kind of a... um, gun-like device for it."
>>"Well, they do have a jailbird here. How safe are you? Do you need anything?"
Sveta shook her head. She did not need help, for once; Haven had everything she could ask for. She did not want Zelda to worry about her, at least.
>>"No, I know you didn't. You don't have to apologize - I dug myself in the hole I'm in and I'm making the best of it. I'm just glad to see that you made it out okay. I have to say, the dark web has been in a flurry with conspiracies about them ever since you got back. Anything to do with you?"
"Dark web? And you looked like such a by-the-book person" Sveta smirked, before she shrugged "You can't fight something that well placed and funded head on. But it also does not take much for people to be suspicious of them. Especially mutants." she shrugged again "Does your id live here now? At the Mansion?"

As any Doctor would be, she was super glad that Sveta was going to let her see the spot. She wished she had some gloves, but she would have to do with only using her eyes. She stepped behind Sveta and looked at the spot. It looked like the only scarring was from the stitches and where they cut it out. She mumbled to herself for a moment, "Do you know if there was a scar before they cut it out?"
>> "Dey dug it out in a hurry, but at least stitched it up after. I don't really remember how it went in. They had some kind of a... um, gun-like device for it."
She nodded, "Makes sense. If they can get it to go in fast enough and at the right angle, it won't leave a mark. If it did, no one would be the wiser." She sighed and stepped back, "Dirty b*stards," she grumbled.
She smiled. That was great to hear - she had her whole life ahead of her. It was good to know that she was going to be okay.
>> "Dark web? And you looked like such a by-the-book person"
She laughed and shrugged, "What can I say? We all have our vices." She chuckled a little more for a minute before she turned more serious, "I'm a bit of a paranoid person. The dark web is where you can find things and no one can find you. It's great for information but there is a lot of bad things on there." It was good for her work, at least when it came to preparing for shady evil CIA agencies from alternate timelines.
>> "You can't fight something that well placed and funded head on. But it also does not take much for people to be suspicious of them. Especially mutants."
She nodded, "In this timeline, it's going to be harder. People might not believe it could happen now, at least after the registration act was overturned." She sighed, "I hope our current government isn't complicit. I haven't heard anything about them, only the alternate timeline having SUPER." She shrugged a little, "Who knows, though."
>> "Does your id live here now? At the Mansion?"
She nodded and smiled, "He does. I actually found him when he was manifesting. Police were after him, etc... Luckily, we got him to the hospital. His foster parents threw him out he manifested." She frowned. It was a sad but common story. Well, at least the being disowned for his mutation part. "Maybe I can introduce you to him, later. Well... We just need to make sure you guys don't touch. He still doesn't have full control of his powers," she grinned, "probably wouldn't be the greatest idea for you guys to touch."
Sveta called Zelda out on her knowledge of the dark web. She knew such a thing existed, but most people imagined it as a place for hackers and all kinds of unsavory elements to congregate. It was somewhat jarring to see such an elegant doctor lady to know it and use it. Then again. Stereotypes.
>>"What can I say? We all have our vices... I'm a bit of a paranoid person. The dark web is where you can find things and no one can find you. It's great for information but there is a lot of bad things on there."
"Well... it's not like SUPER is not using it, probably." Sveta allowed. Getting to the information that the other side also had was not a bad idea in general. And SUPER was not going to shy away from going the extra mile, in both worlds.
>>"In this timeline, it's going to be harder. People might not believe it could happen now, at least after the registration act was overturned. I hope our current government isn't complicit. I haven't heard anything about them, only the alternate timeline having SUPER. Who knows, though."
"SUPER is working on it, I know dat much" Sveta frowned. Why would they stop at one government when they could have two? And two worlds full of mutants to pick from? Sveta did not want to think about all that right now, so she changed the topic to Zelda's kid.
>>"He does. I actually found him when he was manifesting. Police were after him, etc... Luckily, we got him to the hospital. His foster parents threw him out he manifested. Maybe I can introduce you to him, later. Well... We just need to make sure you guys don't touch. He still doesn't have full control of his powers... probably wouldn't be the greatest idea for you guys to touch."
"Definitely no touching." Sveta held up her hands. Last thing she wanted was to boost a kid that threw metal shards all over the place. Ouch. "But... it is good that you found him. And seriously, **** the foster parents." she sighed "I guess we have both seen worse stories like dat. Still pisses me off every time."
