The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Aura tried not to come back to Sanctuary, as much as she loved the place. Sure their were humans here which made the place seem infested to her. The real issue was her, Aura knew anywhere she was sighted to often would come under scrutiny and Aura did not wish to cause trouble for the Mutants who lived here. The metabots liked to harass her and unlike cops they had no need of self preservation. She had left Sanctuary because of that a few kids had jumped in to help her and wound up hurt before the metabots could be destroyed.
Still their was something Aura had been looking for in her former home, her oldest friend who was still around except Lisa. Like everyone Aura had no idea of Lisa was Human or mutant and if she was human Aura could make an exception. Solkat was a skunk, what Aura had for a long time thought of as a house cat despite many people pointing out why she was wrong.
Aura walked out into the foyer holding the old Black and white animal who was very clearly no cat and certainly not something to be cuddled. The raven haired woman was so happy she had found her long lost pet she was not paying much attention to what was around her. Only when she felt the skunk tense in her arms did she look up and narrowly avoid walking directly into a guy she had never seen before. Continuing to pet the skunk she smiled. "Sorry, the names Aura and this is Solkat" she said nodding down to the skunk. "My i ask your name?" she said hoping this guy was a mutant.
Ignacio had been volunteering at Sanctuary on and off for the past year now. He saw it as an opportunity to ex sponge his guilt and sin for murdering his parents. However, even with him doing this, he still hated himself. Deep down underneath his dazzling good looks and sunshine personality. He tried not to think about it too much.
Iggy was dressed in a yellow pastel polo shirt that brought out his eyes and a pair of khaki shorts that the shirt was tucked into.
He had made a couple of friends at Sanctuary, but for some reason they weren't there when he arrived. Instead, he decided that he would get some sweeping done in the foyer.
The teenage mutant whistled softly to himself as he performed the task before feeling a presence behind him. He turned to see a girl with fair skin and dark hair -- almost black. With a bright smile, he shrugged.
"No need to be. Hola, Aura and...is that a skunk?" Ignacio had a confused look on his face. He shook his head and focused back on the woman. "I'm Tonatiuh," he paused, "well, that's like my mutant name. My real name is Ignacio."
She smiled at the guy she had almost walked into and decided to quickly address his question. "Yes she is a skunk, a pretty old one but well behaved i have had her for over seven years" she said stroking the stripe of the skunk. She had let it run loose around sanctuary for years as the Skunk liked to hunt the rodents and larger insects she could find and Solkat had always come back to her.
She was never going to recall this kids name. She was not even sure she could pronounce it correctly. His real name was not much easier for her but she knew like many others she would probably find. Aura had always been rather poor with names, despite her good memory for most other things.
"So your a mutant then? may i ask what you can do?" she said curiously. Aura loved seeing what her fellow mutants could do with their gifts. She liked the verity that seemed inherent in their abilities. She liked seeing the combat oriented ones more then others but she knew they all had their values even if she could not see or it, or like the nulls just cancelled out powers. A mutant was a mutant.
"My own" she said stepping back. She opened her mouth as if to yawn but instead a transparent liquid looking material poured from her mouth and seemed to coat her head before traveling down from her neck over her body then legs. Raising a hand she smiled and formed a dagger from it for a few moments then letting it melt back into her aura before she formed an a double sided axe before letting that melt back into her aura as well. "I can form weapons with my Aura as well as it will protect me from many things" she said letting her Aura become a thin layer over her body.
The skunk was cute, but Ignacio was a little frightened that Solkat would spray him so he kept a good distance away. "Well, she's adordable."
Ignacio nodded his head at her question, "Sí lo soy," he answered, "I can absorb solar energy from the Sun and become super powered. It's hard to explain, easier to show." Instead of going into his full Tollan form, Ignacio decided to just do a couple of solar flares. Just so he wouldn't be drained, he stepped into streams of light that came in threw the window of the foyer. Ignacio then put his palms together and started to form a mini Sun out of multicolored light. His eyes glowed a bright orange, too. He kept up this transitional form as he watched Aura do her power.
"Woah...that's so amazing!" He exclaimed, "This," Iggy gestuered to himself, "is more for, ah, bluffing than power. Though, when I'm in my Tollan form that's a whole nother thing. You can show me more outside and I can do the same?" Thanks to Juliette, he was more confident in his powers and wasn't as afraid as hurting someone because of it.
Solar energy from the sun? She wondered how that worked at night. She watched him as he used his power, noting that he stepped into direct light to do it. It made Aura wonder if artificial light would or could trigger his powers. The ball of light in front of him was a curiosity to her as well. He was certainly right though the physical show was more interesting then his description.
Outside was something Aura hesitated on a moment. In the old days it would have been easier. The training room would likely not have worked for her new friend but having a mansion full of super powerd people who would help you, meant a lot as well.
"Theirs not to much more to my power really, other then cutting through various things, but I would love to see what you can do. I love seeing other mutants powers, the diversity we have is amazing" she said happily. She did steel a look at Lisa who gave her a subtle nod which made Aura more confident they could do this and not attract cops or metabots.
we can go outside and do that, but try to avoid blasts that might be detected by satellites, Last thing I need to do is fight off some cops or their metabot pets" she said with a soft sigh. Things were so much easier when the police were all flesh and blood, back then cops would often simply avoid her. "Let's try the back" she said and began her way down the hall to the Sanctuarys back yard, it at least had a fence.
Ignacio's smile widened more when Aura said that she wanted to see more of his powers. He rarely got that request unless it was from the staff at the Mansion. Nonetheless, Ignacio shook his powers loose, causing his eyes go back to their normal kaleidoscope eyes. "I love seeing other mutant powers too. There such so interestin', y'know?" He asked with a smile. Iggy lightly poked her shoulder, then bopped Solkat's nose.
"Esta bien!" Iggy followed after Aura with a smile on his face. He couldn't help, but skip a bit at out excitement.
After they made it to the backyard, Iggy found an open spot on the grass and looked at Aura. "Ready?" Ignacio took off his t-shirt and tossed it to the side. He raised his hands together the Sun and soon his skin turned from the beautiful bronze that it was to pitch black. His eyes turned back orange and the multicolored flames burned off of his body. "Tada!"
Aura liked this guy, he was eager to show his power which told Aura he took pride in it. He even poked the thin aura around her body which not many mutants tried. He seemed brave enough she wondered how his moralities lied toward humans. More mutants needed to follow that example in her opinion. "Yes they are" she agreed as they made their way outside.
She nodded when he asked if she was ready. She thickened the aura around her body in case this went horribly wrong. She would never have been able to say why but she had expected an explosion of some sort, not what she saw before her. The pitch black skin and dark fiery eyes were wonderful, but the rainbow of flames dancing on his skin was what Aura found truly beautiful.
"So beautiful.....I'm guessing that form grants immunity to fire? Are you more durable in that form? Is water painful?" she asked her curiosity clearly getting the better of her. Her hammered in mental need to analyze powers was kicking in as well making her consider how she might fight him, if the need ever arose. She had been trained do so with every mutant she came across. "Have you known you were a Mutant long?" she added in curiously wondering just how experienced with his power he might be.
She held her hand up and began forming a chainsaw that stretched about a foot from her finger tips. SHe then made the chain on the saw move, though no sound came from the weapon. It was one of the more complicated things she could make, though it was very useful. She held it for a few moments before letting the aura flow back to her fingers, she then adjusted her aura so it took a highly angeled look she used to deflect bullets more easily.
"I used to live here for many years" she said looking back at the building. It seemed somehow less beautiful then it once had but so did many things to her. "Do you live here?" she asked curiously wondering how living at sanctuary was these days.
Ignacio blushed when Aura called him beautiful. He had heard it before, but when it involved his Tollan form. The teenage mutant chuckled a bit and raised his arms. He manipulated the flames on the top of his head so it looked like a color orange and red headdress.
"Sí, in fact it does! Water doesn't hurt me either, but if I don't get enough sunlight, then things go bad." Ignacio had gotten surprisingly more comfortable with his powers and wasn't afraid of hurting anyone. Though, he was still cautious and tried not to over do it with trying new things. "And I've known of my complete mutation for a couple of years now."
The seventeen year old watched Aura performing her power. It was nice to know that people did in fact have auras. He wondered what else she could do.
"No, I stay at the Mansion. Quiero ser un X-Men."He answered the last bit in Spanish. Ignacio sat down on the grass and smile up at Aura.
She imagined things going bad was where the booms happened. It sounded like he had to spend time in the light to maintain his power and its proper function. She could see how that might weigh on him but he seemed no worse for it. He went to mention he knew for a few years he knew what he was, which was good. For Aura it also explained the control he certainly seemed to possess. Aura had been lucky that she had never really struggled with her powers, they were easy and straight forward, even if their purpose was clear.
Aura did nor understand Spanish at all but the first part and the word x-men were clear to her and her smile fell instantly. Could he be an x-man and if so why was he so blissful around her. Her last meeting with the snowman had been very clear that they would not be dance partners any time soon. Not to mention the same snowman had gotten her put in prison which had lead top more deaths when she was broken out only a month after trial.
"You are part of the team then? A full fledged x-man?" she asked her eyes narrowed, her posture had taken a slightly more defensive touch to it as well. "The x-men's leader had me thrown in prison some time ago, so i am less then fond of the fools" she said the gentle tone in her voice had all but died into a neutral tone.
She had options assuming he could not take her down in one shot, she considered how close the nearest humans might be but if she had need to escape. X-men would not endanger innocent lifes but the x-men also knew she would not kill mutants if she could help it. She had been careful to avoid many kills since she had awoken in part to keep her profile low but her power and work did stick out and maybe frosty had figured it out. She made no weapons but her eyes never left her newly troubling friend either.
Ignacio noticed the change in Aura's demeanor and frowned too. He wasn't sure what he said that was wrong.
"Oh," he gulped, "Well, I'm not a full fledged mutant. I'm not even a trainee." He stood up from the ground and walked over to Aura. Ignacio did so cautiously. The last thing he wanted was for her to think that he was going to attack her.
Aura let out a sigh but that he not even a trainee yet lessened Aura's anxiety Him not being an actual x-men changed things a lot in her eyes. He no longer had an obligation to put her away in that case. She let her posture relax as he approached her and she flet a bit bad, like she had over reacted.
Still his question was a fair one but she hoped he was prepared for it. officially? I was convicted of 124 counts of homicide as well as breaking and entering, destruction of property, Inciting violence, assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, discharging a fire arm in public without permit, animal cruelty, grand larceny at the history museum, animal theft from various zoos with intent to eat." she said stopping a moment to see if she had left anything out. "Their numbers are low of course. " she said simply and matter of fact.
"Their is enough blood on my hands to full lakes, all in the name of our people. I am a terrible monster but our people must survive humanity and i will assure it does" she said honestly and simply. Even of she did feel like she had done more then her share of the fighting. "I watched humanity kill almost all of my close friends, i can still hear the automatic rifle fire and the howl of falling mortar shells in my dreams" she went on. She was use to the nightmares as they came most nights.
"...Oh!" Ignacio blinked a few times. He didn't know how to respond to that other than to stare at her. So she was a serial killer? That was...interesting. Of course, Ignacio had never met a serial killer before in real life so this was a little stunning. He didn't know whether he should run for the hills, call the police, begging for mercy, or just shrug it off as a fun fact of hers.
Clearing his throat, he decided that he would turn his attention to something else, "oh? Well...aren't you busy?" He giggled nervously, "I'm...sorry about your friends, Aura."
"Thank you, their why i fight, some one must defend our people and since my hands are already stained with blood, i do it" she said which was partly true their were other reasons of course but she was not sure how far she should go with him. She had a thought she may of stunned him with the amount of violence she had endured.
"I try and stay busy yes, need to keep my powers and fighting ability up as well as hunt down mutant supremacist groups and rescue mutants in danger" she said honestly recalling the last mutant she had rescued. "I try very hard to only kill humans, mostly gang members and mutant supremacists" she said honestly.
"I can't let another event like the one that got my friends killed so long ago happon if i can prevent it" she said with a smile. She took pride in what she did even if what she did made her a monster.
"Oh, so you're not a supervillain or anything like that?" Well, that was a relief. At least he didn't have to worry about her trying to kill him. He was neither a human or a mutant supremacist. He felt that much more comfortable around her. Well, at least he could say that he's met a serial killer.
Iggy placed a hand on his hip and shifted his weight to one side, "s-so you're not gonna kill me or anything like that?" He asked with raised eyebrow. "I'm harmless! For the most part."
"Some people see me as such, i do a very nasrt, very violent thing" she said taking no shame from most of her past actions. Even as she seen many of them as futile now, they were human and thus of no consequence.
"I have no reason to harm you unless you decide to attack me, in that case i would seek to disable you first, causing only enough damage to knock you out or keep you from continuing the fight. Of your power however you intended to kill me i would still try and disable first but would use lethal force to protect my life" she explained. Syre she hated killing other mutants but she would nor let them prevent her from doing what needed to be done or locking her away.
"Harmless or not is not the issue, the fact you are mutant means you have nothing to fear from me provided you no not bring harm to out people" she said honestly. She had no desire to hurt the kid though the conversation had taken quite the less cheerful tone.
